Problems with 2010 Toyota Camry ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 toyota camry. while the vehicle was being serviced, the technician noticed an oil leak from the intake manifold. the vehicle was not repaired. the contact took the vehicle to another dealer where it was diagnosed for the same failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the pcv valve hose and intake manifold gasket needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was unknown.

I'm not sure exactly when the problems with unexpected acceleration began with this car, but they are fairly recent. all occurred when the car was stopped or moving very slowly. i do not have very good recollections of the earliest of these occurrences, but i can remember the last three clearly. the first of these was in march 2015. i was driving in an area where the speed limit was 35 mph and had stopped for a traffic signal. i remember clearly that i had my foot solidly on the brake pedal; i had been making a special point of that as a result of the earlier occurrences. i felt the engine speed up, but the car did not move. the second occasion was on march 29th when i was driving in a residential area and had stopped at a four-way stop. i was waiting for a pedestrian (walking a dog) who was crossing the road on the opposite side from where i was stopped. i do not have a firm recollection of exactly where my right foot was positioned, but it certainly was not on the accelerator. suddenly the car accelerated, heading toward the pedestrian. i was able to avoid hitting her by making a sharp right turn into the cross street and then bringing the car to a stop. the third occasion was on april 5th. in attempting to park the car in a lot near a grocery store, i turned the car into an empty parking space. i was pressing the brake pedal gently to bring the car to a stop at the curb on a median strip that separated my parking area from a similar one on the other side of the median. the car was just a few feet from where it should have stopped when it suddenly accelerated, jumped over the curb, and crossed the median, striking an unoccupied car parked on the other side. i was able to stop my car only after the crash caused some minor damage to the front bumpers of both cars. *tr

I am having issues with my camry bouncing, swaying, pulling left and right, the engine, transmission or axles shake. it feels like the brakes are pulsing or on at random times. i believe there are several issues with this car and toyota is not reporting the problems. i also believe the mechanics are falsifying documents which are affecting my safety and the safety of others. brake issues are life threating and toyota assured me my car is safe. i have been at the dealership 5 times to have the issues fixed but the dealer first blamed the tires and balancing. i replaced the tires and the dealer blamed the loud snow tires. the dealer made an appointment with a service specialist. they blamed it on tire noises and said the see you in the spring when you change the tires and they specialist said you are still under warrantee. i changed the tires two days later and returned on monday. the dealer test drove the car and said nothing but they will be talking the toyota specialist. i heard nothing for a week and i had to call them on again on monday (today). the service managers said there is nothing wrong. i just received a class action lawsuit mailing over the weekend. i knew the dealer and toyota were hiding something. i also took the car to a second toyota dealer as the specialist recommend. the second dealer already knew about the issues before i got there. the service manager drove my car, not a mechanic test, and also blamed the snow tires. the specialist was also asking what toyota dealerships are closer to home for me. i also called toyota and opened two cases. i asked for transcripts of the classes and other information, they said that was for in-house use only and i could not have the info. *tr

Air condition compressor failed. and not pumping. need new or rebuild parts only 2 year old car had only 38,000 miles on it. missed warranty by 2,000 miles. *tr

Started car and tachometer showed aprox 3000 rpm then went to idle it lunged forward if i did mot have my foot on the brake it would have smashed into a guard rail. *tr

Every time i turn on the heating system of my toyota camry, i get this foul sulfur smell coming from the vents. i took it to the dealer and they say they ran tests on it but since they can't reproduce the smell there's nothing to do. thus far toyota has written it off to the sulfur levels in the fuel, yet i own a toyota corolla as well and have never had this experience. at the dealership they told me that the smell happens after the fuel is burned and passed through the catalyst converter, but i'm worried that separate systems -- the heating and the process of burning fuel -- cross together to bring that smell into the cabin of the car. i remember the previous big toyota recall and how they tried to brush the problem under the rug, but i hope this doesn't happen here. that is unless nhtsa is willing to let people inhale such noxious and possibly toxic fumes. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 toyota camry. the contact was driving 10 mph when the vehicle stalled without warning. the contact stated that the vehicle was taken the vehicle to the dealer several times but the dealer was unable to duplicate or diagnose the failure. the dealer stated that the computer would need to be reprogrammed but the dealer did not have a program for the vehicle. the contact stated that the vehicle was unsafe to drive. the contact also stated that when the vehicle was parked, it would roll away abnormally. the failure mileage was 14,000.

Purchased a new 2010 toyota camry. after ~ 300 miles the engine had a new noise on start up. it was diagnosed as a problem with the variable valve timing gear assembly. after picking up the car it has been draining oil and is now not drivable. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2010 toyota camry hybrid. while driving approximately 20-25 mph, the contact stated when she turned the air conditioner on, she had no control of the temperature. when she attempted to change the temperature, nothing occurred. the vehicle was taken to two different dealerships but the dealers were unable to duplicate the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 200. the current mileage was 1,090. updated 07/19/10. *lj the consumer stated the air bag and check engine light illuminated while driving. 09/30/10

2010 toyota camry experienced acceleration on freeway exit ramp at 7:30 am during rush hour. put the car in neutral and the engine raced. car was pulled over to the side with engine still racing. the ignition was turned off and it stopped running. checked to see if there was an obstruction with a floor mat - there was none. after 30 seconds, started the car and it alternated between idle and engine racing while doing nothing to the gas pedal. recall fixes had not been done yet. dealers response was they did not know what caused it and didn't care what did - just put in the recall remedies and tried to give it back to us to "try this". we have no confidence that the problem was understood, or fixed or that the dealer even cares. their response was that it is toyota's problem not theirs.

I called lowe toyota dealership prior to service date 3/6/2010 to report delay in gas pedal, that is when accelerator from a stop delay, the is a delay and when turning on a/c it takes almost 1min. before pressure builds for cooling and i thought this was not normal for a new vehicle with only 40 miles. also at service date 3/6/2010 damage to front spoiler was not addressed and warranty by dealership was denied. *tr

The cruise control on my 2010 toyota camry sometimes continues to accelerate the vehicle after i take my hand off the cruise control accelerate lever. the speed of the car continues to accelerate until i hit the brake. *tr

Car: 2010 camry le. twice since purchasing the car in november the car has accelerated on its own. when accelerating to pass, the gas pedal travels to the floor, when it was not pushed that far. both times i reacted by quickly putting the car in neutral and the pedal immediately returned to its neutral position. no damage, no injuries in either event.*tr

I experienced a runaway acceleration while driving my 2010 camry le v6 (made in japan). while leaving the parking lot of my work place i was trying to pull away from a stop sign and the engine revved out of control. as i tried to pull away from the stop sign the tires slipped because it had just snowed. i gave it a bit more gas to get over the snow when the car started to pull away from the stop sign the engine revved out of control. i pressed and held down on the brake, the car continued to pull forward, i put the car in neutral and the engine was at redline for about 10 more seconds then returned to normal. at no time did i floor the accelerator, it was not stuck. i stepped down on the gas just a bit to clear the snow patch and the engine just revved out of control. i am lucky this didn't happen in traffic, and i knew enough to hold down firm on the brake, or there could have been an accident. *tr

Runaway late camry, lexus: turning the ignition key to the acc (accessory) position turns off the ignition while leaving the steering wheel unlocked. this information could save lives. *tr
