Recently reported VISIBILITY/WIPER problems on 2009 Toyota Camry

Noticed drivers side sun visor would not stay up. it blocks my view. when i try to put it up ( forwards or back, it just falls back to the down position. i replaced it once for the same reason and it turned out that it was broken. now, about a year later, i have the exact same problem. i checked for recalls and my vin number says that there is no recall, but i know this is a popular problem. *tr

The dashboard is melting and reflecting onto the windshield. *tr

Dashboard is sticky and shiny. i brought the car to west kendall toyota. advisor said he would get me a quote. the quote for me is $400 to replace the dashboard. this is not right and toyota should cover the total cost. the sheen on the dash also creates a glare on sunny days, which create a safety hazard. toyota is avoiding a recall for the use of inferior parts. *tr

From the start of this year i have realized that my dashboard seems to be melting. its sticky and shiny and the shininess becomes distracting. i cant wipe it much because particles will stick to it. toyota is stating i must pay for a new dashboard but i feel that isn't fair due to a defect with the car dashboard. i live in the us virgin islands and temperatures are always hot. i have owned a few cars and been in all my family members cars and have never experienced a melting dashboard. *tr

the visors are both broken and do not stay in fixed position. i went to 10 junkyards to buy replacements but they all said that same thing. that these visors are all defective and they sell them immediately. they have some sort of factory defect that makes them crack internally. there is also some oily residue on the dashboard that is sticky and shinny. so much so that in the daytime it is hard to see. just what is this goo ? i cant get the sticky stuff off and now the sun is blinding me at the same time because of the defective visors. i thought that the sticky stuff on the dashboard was only my car but it seem other people with the make and model also have this problem. my wife drives this car with the grandkids and its really starting to creep me out. *tr

The visor on the passenger side keeps falling down, causing blocking of view while driving. this is constant and have heard through others with a camry- that this is a defect. *tr

Dashboard is sticky and terrible glare while driving. reported it to the dealership in july . *tr

The dashboard is melting and sticky. when hot gets worse and reflects light into your eyes making it hard to drive. *tr

2009 toyota camry driver side visor broken internally and hangs down in front of driver until pulled off, a possible visibility problem and hazard. toyota issued a visor recall, but replacement visor (tried 2) will not stay fully up when tilted to the windshield, thereby making signal lights harder to see, which we believe could cause an accident as well. hard to believe new visor will not go up fully (in both directions, but towards the ceiling does not block view, just does not snap up like original units). *tr

As always when i arrive to work i put up the sunscreen in the front window. it is held in place by the driver's and passenger's sun visors. when i proceeded to remove the screen after work, the visor would not return to its normal "locked" position. regardless of the angle of the visor, it would not stay in place. i had to drive home holding the visor up with one hand, because it would obstruct my line of vision if left to hang. when i arrived home, i was able to figure out how to take it off the arm swing. it was not difficult and it slid off easily. it appears the plastic casing that would surround the arm swing has failed. i am currently without a driver's side visor. *tr

The dashboard of my toyota camry seems to be melting. i live in south fl and have lived here for years. i have owned many cars here and the weather and parking conditions have not changed. my car has very few miles on it, under 30k. the issue with my dashboard makes it hard to see and is causing a serious reflection issue. i cant imagine that this is not a product issue. no car i have ever seen has experienced this issue in all my years in fl. *tr

The car dash board is melting away. it gets very sticky and if barely touched chips away in chunks. when the sun hits the dash it makes a glare that has many times almost caused me to wreck the car because i could not see.it smells weird. *tr

My 2009 toyota camry's dashboard has melted. it has become a sticky, shiny mess. i tried to put reflective shades in the windshield to help slow the disintegration. upon removing it to drive the car one afternoon shortly after i started using it, part of the vinyl was melted to the shield and ripped off the dashboard leaving the orange foam showing. the safety hazard comes from the shiny "puddles" of melted dash. they are incredibly reflective and can be blinding in sunlight. the glare is distracting while driving. i cannot lay anything on the dash to reduce the glare, because the vinyl will adhere to it and peel away like it did with the sun shield. while it has not yet caused an accident for me, i can see where it may have for others. as the cars age further, more of the dash will become melted. eventually, tens of thousands of people are going to be on the road with the equivalent of a spotlight blinding them when the sun is shining. hopefully, a safety solution will be had before then. another problem this vehicle has had since i bought it new, the windshield does not have good clarity when driving in the rain. i have cleaned it so many ways and replaced the wiper arms, but it has a smear, or film, that makes it highly difficult to see through in wet conditions. *tr

Driver side sun visor unable to totally fold back, the visor had a little bit loose and cannot return back to the top ceiling of the car. it started getting worse months by month, finally by august,2014,it totally cannot flip back to original top . it cannot be used to block sun light from the front in the morning or evening time. it cause safety issue. i complaint to toyota for exchange. but dealer want me to wait for at least 4 - 6 weeks to get parts. *tr

The dash board is very sticky and went the sunlights hit in directly it reflects the sun into my eyes this occurs every day. i live in puerto rico and this is my travel car every day when the sun is always shining. this make me cause to put a tinted glass paper to reduce the sunlight reflection frontal the dashboard but it continue to reflects the sun light. *tr

My dashboard is peeling and melting. when i drive my car, the sun reflects on my shiny melted dashboard and causes a glare on my windshield. the glare makes it hard to see through the windshield and makes it hard to drive on certain hours of the day. *tr

On 10/19/2012, the windshield molding on the upper driver side was separating from the glass and was cracking in other areas. the molding was inspected by local toyota dealerships and they questioned the installation of the windshield. it was explained the car has one owner and the windshield had not been damaged or replaced. i was told i could have it repaired for $400 or come back when i experience leaking. i was not satisfied with either answer especially since the toyota plant, located in kentucky, incorrectly installed the windshield and now i am being told i have to pay for the botched installation. after researching recent tsbs, i found the 09-12 tacoma's were experiencing the same issues i have on my car. the tsb 0062-12 states the incorrect installation of the windshield/windshield molding was causing wind noise and the remedy was to replace the windshield/windshield molding. although the tsb specifies wind noise as a minor nuisance, the defect has the potential to affect the integrity of the windshield as well as other electrical components due to the faulty molding. i am requesting the tsb be expanded to cover camrys exhibiting the same symptoms and make dealers responsible for correcting the defect. *tr

The dashboard constantly reflects back and seriously blinds eyesight & vision, that actually may cause serious accidents and death. i am humbly giving this "real & actual warning information" to have toyota redesign the dashboard and recall all toyotas and fix this real dashboard problems. *tr

I own a 2009 toyota camry for over 2 years i've had what is known as a "sticky dash". it's almost as if the dashboard as melted and toyota refuses to do anything for it - their response is for me to pay almost $1900 for a new dashboard plus labor which is completely unacceptable. i've also noticed that as of late, the glare due to the dashboard is interfering with my driving and i am genuinely worried about the safety of this vehicle. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2009 toyota camry hybrid. the contact stated that the driver's side sun visor would not stay closed. the visor would fall and block the driver's view of the roadway. the contact had not taken the vehicle to the dealer for inspection or repairs. the failure and the current mileages was 56,000.

Vehicle dashboard appears to be melting. when the sun hits the shiny dashboard, there is a glare that bounces off the windshield, impairing driver visibility. *tr

My dashboard is melting causing a glare from the sun. *tr

My dashboard is very sticky. can't clean it off. it also chips very easily. it's almost plush...?? on top of all that, the glare it gives off is very unsafe! *tr

Sticky dashboard that puts a glare on windshield. *tr

The first incident was while i was driving on the freeway, it started raining so i turned on the wipers, they worked. the rain slowed and i turned the wipers off. when it started to rain harder again i turned the wiper switch back to on- the wipers would not work. we've had toyota check them out only to be told there isn't a problem. yesterday, nov. 22, 2013 as i was driving to work, it began to rain. i turned the switch on, and the wipers would work only intermittently, then they quit working altogether. today, while driving to the grocery store it began to rain again- the same thing happened but now the wipers won't come on at all! this is a huge safety factor! *tr

After getting the third set of tires, i noticed that all four struts were leaking. the second set of tires wore out prematurely. also, the driver's side sun visor started flapping and would no longer stay up. i had to remove the visor because it started to block my view. *tr

No long after the purchase of my 2009 toyota camry the dashboard is oily and sticky. the dashboard now appears to be melting. the dashboard produces such a glare that it makes it difficult to drive. i think toyota should recall these vehicles and correct the problem at no charge to the consumer. *tr
