I received a letter in the mail stating there was a recall for my sunroof made by webasto. the serial number of my sunroof is between the range of 6000000 to 6396298. i would like to have it replaced if that is the case, please. *tr

2002 toyota v6 se; front brake discs caused severe steering wheel shaking when slowing from 40 to 35 mph. dealer originally replaced all front brake system at about 15000 miles under a toyota bulletin. at 60,000 miles began to have same problem which became uncontrollable at about 75,000 miles. out of warranty, so owner replaced front rotors and problem seems to be corrected.... no toyota recall..... *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2002 toyota camry. the driver was involved in a crash in may 2009. the contact drove 3 mph in her driveway and turned her vehicle around when the vehicle accelerated up to 40 mph on its own and crashed into a fence. the driver was thrown from the car into her neighbors yard. the driver was very sore from the crash but did not go to the hospital. the dealer stated that they would document the failure. the vehicle was repaired. the failure mileage was 19,000. the current mileage was 20,000.

I have a 2002 toyota camry. the rear back speakers disintegrated! they cracked and then just crumbled when i touched them. *tr

Second time in the 8 years that we have owned our 2002 toyota camry the chrome plating on the interior door handles are starting to peel again creating a hand cutting hazard. first time they were replaced under warranty. i talked to a service rep at toyota dealership and he said he has seen many do this. my wife and numerous other people have been cut because of this manufacturer defect. toyota refuses to correct problem and i refuse to pay money to pay for other defective parts only to do the same thing in the future. *tr

I had new car battery installed by local toyota dealership late on 12/2/05. the car seemed to shift and sound markedly differently after driving the car off the lot with the new battery. three days later my 4 cylinder, automatic 2002 4d-s toyota camry was left in "d" with the overdrive button remained engaged. my foot was on the brake pedal. i did not drift. i'd been stopped for a while at a "t" intersection for a while and not moving; nor were any other vehicles moving. this particular intersection is controlled by a long signal light. i was aimed straight ahead, but was the third car back from the stop line, signaling to turn left. all of a sudden i heard what sounded like an airplane engine roaring, getting ever louder. my foot was still on the brake. the engine raced, surged abruptly caused my car to accelerate forcefully into the stopped car in front of me. the car in front of me was pushed into an suv in front of it. the force of impact caused my engine to shut down. the driver in front of me appeared to have a whiplash injury. all told, there was about $1500.00 worth of damage to my car and it was estimated the smaller and older car in front of me sustained about $2500.00 worth of damage. i had the car towed to the dealer. the local toyota dealer informed me they "found nothing wrong with the car." the car was then towed to a shop for body repairs. upon the return of my camry, it still had a bit of a vibratory and auditory distortion that was atypical for the 3 previous years. i also realized that the brakes were barely working. at a return visit to the dealer, i was told my brakes were almost "completely gone" and that i needed new brakes. however, i am certain that the marked and sudden decline in my brake function was a result of the brakes attempting to hold my car back as the engine surged forward. *jb

Continental touring contact as tires experienced tire failure, 2 front tires have same wear pattern. the steel cable was exposed. *bf the consumer was told that the tires seemed as if they were running while under inflated as the outside edges on all four tires were worn. the recommended pressure on the door frame was conflicting with the information on the tire. *sc *jb

My wife was driving a 2002 camry le, went off the road and struck a tree on the passengers side front door. she had massive head injuries and did not survive the crash. none of the frontal airbags opened on such a severe impact. as it might seem initially that these were frontal airbags, but i have seen a 2000 corolla where the impact was on the drivers side rear door and both the frontal airbags had deployed. i don't understand how a 2002 camary that is supposed be a newer, better car than a 2000 corolla, failed to have its airbags deploy when the impact was on the passangers side; where on a corolla although the impact was on the driver side rear door; the passenger side airbag deployed. *jb

I have a 2002 toyota camry that i use for normal driving. at 12000 miles the car started vibrating when braking. the dealer determined that the front rotor was warped and replaced the front brakes and turned the rotors at my expense($250). now, at 29000 miles and a little over a year later, i am having the same problem.*ak

02/23/04, dealer's invoice tocs12154: 04/19/04, dealer's invoice tocs14794. the cd and tape player went bad before the car was two years old. i did not discover this until there was 37,000 miles on the car. the warranty ran out at 35,000 miles. the cd/tape player part of the radio was not even used for a couple of months, so i was not aware there was a problem until after the warranty expired. the dealer charged me $250.00 for a "used" radio they ordered from the manufacturer (a new radio was going to cost $850.00). they were kind enough to not charge me for the installation. since toyota does not make the radios installed in their vehicles, toyota would not help me with my problem. 03-08-04, dealer's invoice tocs12900:i have a problem with the brake system that concerns me more than the radio malfunction. there is a viabration when i slow down to stop the car. i took my car to the dealer to have this checked. they recommended that the front rotors be turned (for $170.00) and that the rear brake drums be resurfaced (for $127.50) by the time the dealer checked this for me, the car had 38,363 miles. the warranty expired at 35,000 miles! neither the dealer nor toyota will do anything about the brakes. they considered it to be "normal" wear an tear. i have never had a radio go bad in any other car i have owned. my subaru imprezza is over 10 years old! the imprezze still had its original brakes!*ak

While parked vehicle was started and engine roared and surged forward. consumer had to use extreme force to keep the vehicle from moving. also, when air conditioner was on and turned off and back on again there was a foul odor coming from the vents. *ak

Severe vibration in steering when brakes applied 20+ months after purchase. brought to dealer, deformed rotors, machined front disc brakes & replaced pads. when braking after this, vehicle pulled to the left. 24 months later had same severe vibration/brakes again. researched complaints nhtsa site..many have same complaint to dealer again & they wanted to charge me $99 to diagnose. i said no & the mgr steve said we don't charge that fee for brakes. i advised i knew of tsb's issued for this car & shouldn't have same problem from 2 yrs ago. he said only 1 yr warranty on prev work, but he would take a look. he said my rotors were warped & could not be machined again, only replaced, however brake pads are replaced when they are 2 ml & mine were at 7-8, & safe so either replace rotors & pads $469 live w/ vibration until pads worn down to 2 ml then do brake jobe. i advised i knew of tsb's for this problem & he said he already checked & there aren't. i said check again & after waiting told me there was a tsb but it had expired but in an act of "good will" he would order the part and do the repair to both front brakes free. i made an appt & went for repair. repair order said only one side rotor and pad replaced. now when i approach hgwy speed of 60-65 mph, steering wheel shimmies. people are having accidents due to these brake problems according to nhtsa complaints & nothing is being done! i worry someone will be hurt because this problem is not deemed worthy of a recall. the design of the brakes is a problem. *nm

My 2002 camry has been a great car except for the foul odor coming from the air conditioner. i have contacted the dealer as well as toyota about this problem several times but nothing has been fixed. we are still dealing with the odor from the air conditioner. *jb

When driving at low speeds, the vehicle surged forward without warning. the consumer took the vehicle to the dealer for inspection and the mechanic changed the computer in the vehicle. *ak the a/c did not cool properly, the vehicle lunged forward and backwards. the consumer was unable to stop the vehicle. sudden acceleration also occured when braking. the dealer was unable to duplicate the problem, even after 443 miles of driving the vehicle. *sc *jb
