Problems with 2000 Toyota Camry STRUCTURE

The hood has been "popping" up when driving... this has happened on numerous occasions. usually i open the hood and slam it down and its ok for a while lately it happened more times. i took it to the service garage and they said it looked fine.. ( but it could be a cable??) although there is a safety latch when it "pops" its still very scary when you are driving because you don't know when it will happen. not sure what maybe the cause of this?

I have owned this car for about 5 years; my grandfather gave it to me, so it's only had two owners. low miles (80,000). i am replacing the driver's exterior door handle for the third time and passenger's exterior for the second time. the exterior handles merely snap off. i wish toyota would offer replacement handles made of metal rather than plastic. this may eliminate the problem. the state i live in requires a yearly vehicle inspection and due to the broken handles, my car failed yesterday.

The drivers' exterior door handle broke off while my husband was opening the door. i noticed the same thing happened in nhtsa id number: 10720976. up to now i wasn't sure what to think about it, but after seeing that my car isn't the only one it has happened to i believe it has something to do with the car's components. as far as any injury, his hand was cut when the handle broke off and i can't help but hurt my own hand every time i try to open the drivers' door. it has forced us to enter thru the front passenger door and slide over (which is not pleasant nor comfortable).

2000 toyota camry. consumer writes in regards to being rear ended and months later after the accident, when she turned a corner the doors would unlock and the light in the ceiling would come on and lights on dash showed doors opened *tgw the consumer stated she suffered extensive injuries, but there was little damage to the vehicle.

The outside plastic part of the drivers side door handle snapped off in my hand this morning. i cut my finger on the metal under the plastic covering. *tr

I also have experienced the plastic outer portion of the door handle on my 2000 toyota camry breaking off - in my case, on both driver and passenger front side, as well as the inside plastic portion of the back passenger side. *tr

Original ignition key will not start car. has been difficult for about a month. luckily it totally failed in my own driveway. we just returned from a long trip. same thing happened to trunk lock 2 years ago. i had to pay about $250.00 to have it fixed at my dealer. expect larger bill for ignition. dealer will not order new ignition lock until i have it towed in.bought car at same dealer. locks seem to be a weak point on this model toyota. can i get help from somebody? *tr

Vehicle was parked overnight. upon entering the vehicle the next morning consumer smelled smoke. he discovered the smoke had come from the passenger's door panel which was not burning anymore.*ak

When opening the driver's side door, it would slam shut. the consumer notified the dealership. *ak both the consumer and his wife had been hit in the head as they exited the vehicle. *scc *nlm

While my wife was loading her purchases into the trunk, the trunk lid came down and struck her on the head. there was a 2" vertical split beside her left eye which was glued shut at the emergency room. we spent several hours in the er and my wifed did suffer dizziness and mild nausea over the next two days. not good.*ak

Consumer states that the hood on vehicle is inoperative. consumer states once the hood is opened it will unexpectantly release crashing down on occupants head. consumer feels this is very unsafe. dealer has been contacted. please provide any further information. *mr

Door handles on all four doors come up too high. consumer and his wife had their fingers caught underneath handle. contacted dealer, and dealer said that was the way vehicle was manufactured. *ak

While backing out of parking space, a second vehicle collided into back passenger side. the collision was less than 5 mph and extensive damage was done to back bumper of the vehicle. *yh

When opening trunk lid to use the trunk, lid will fall without a warning, sometimes falling on the consumer. *ak *ml
