Plastic part of the release button broke either after release or when trying to buckle up. it would no longer latch. under 75k miles on the car and i am only driver.

When driving between 40-45 mph, a vehicle ran the stop sign on a side street on to the street my wife was driving on, and she hit the vehicle broadside. her safety belt was securely fastened, however the shoulder portion of the belt gave way, and my wife struck the steering wheel with her chest, pinning her wrist in between herself and the steering wheel. the airbags also did not deploy. *tr
