Recently reported POWER TRAIN problems on 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid

The brake light, traction control and abs lights turned on, and check vsc system displayed. vehicle has been maintained correctly. i was on the hwy going 65 mph, in my 2007 camry hybrid when this happened, totally lost power, i was able to pill over to the side road call for help. this is a ridiculous situation for an automobile. i feel like the public is being used like test dummies by toyota.

Vsc abs mil lights came on in dash and brakes sank to floor, but restored control after restart. checked diagnostic codes and it showed codes for hybrid battery p0a80 and p3025. replaced auxilary battery with oem from toyota. now car shuts down while in motion driving highway speeds without any warning and lose gas pedal response. first time it happened with my family in the car including a 5 yr old and 9 month old baby. complained to toyota as vehicle only has approx 93000 miles and toyota declines to assist with resolving issue even though warranty was extended to 10yr/150k miles. dealer misdiagnosed vehicle codes. brakes failed second time, this time causing car to slowly bump into object and scraping bumper at low speed. checked all fuses. vehicle now continuously shuts down randomly on slow or high speeds, while making a turn, merging into traffic, crossing a heavy intersection.

The engine started to burn oil excessively about 1 year after i purchased the car in 2013 and now in 2018 there are 2 cylinders with low pressure and the dealership has told me i need a new engine. the car is not giving a code : check vsc system and the car cuts completely off while driving, no control of brakes or acceleration, very dangerous. i was traveling on a city street and the car just cut completely off and all lights and bells illuminated on the dash board. the oil consumption problem ultimately burnt the engine up and toyota would not repair the car.

The left front lug nuts do not stay tightened. each year, over the last 4 years, when changing tires from the summer tires to the winter snow tires, the left front lug nuts do not stay tightened. this first came to my attention when my wife was driving alone, in an isolated area, 200 miles from home, when the left front wheel almost came completely off before it was discovered as being a problem. the car was moving forward at the speed limit on a 2 lane road. this year, since november 15, i have retightened the lug nuts at least 6 times. i have tried lock tight. it does not work very well. *tr

The vehicle is sluggish occasionally when accelerating. the check engine came on at first and now all the dashboard lights came on. i took it to the dealer and they advised that it is the battery pack. the cost they quoted is $4000. last month i had a problem with the actuator and now its the battery pack. this toyota has been very unreliable and unsafe. i had issues with braking last month and now it is hard to know if the car will accelerate when needed. toyota has had a very poor response to any inquiries. they show very little regard for public safety and prefer to settle cases than to be proactive and fix their unreliable and dangerous products. *tr

Last 2 months i had call toyota to head quarter to report my car lost power, can't control break or steering wheel.. driving on the road with 40-45mph all the sudden the car had lost control steering and break and all the lights inside the panel blinking.... finally i can break my car (very hard). i put the gear back to park and turn of the power button when i try to turn it back on it still not come up all the lights blinking.. (several times) i quit.. pop up the hood and check forward make sure nothing come loose or ... i come back to the car and turn engine on, it working again.... i drive home.. toyota customer service offer me to going to close toyota dealer to have it check out, but i do not have times until last couple days it happen again.. i so concern about life driving this car now, i went to toyota dealer close to me sport city toyota, where i use to have it tune up. they check out my car and notify to me that my 12v battery had going bad drop to 7v (which they had notify for me on 2010) but i did not replace it. it did not sound right to me if the battery go bad for 2 years ago, but i still can drive my car to work and do things for 2 years with out any problems until now it had lost power for 2 times for the last 2 months. i drive my car home, removed the 12v battery out check with the meter 12v show up ... i need help with you people to see what to do next or the investigate to see this car had malfunction or some thins else ..... hope to hear from you. thank you. *tr

Power steering light (p/s) light comes on and lose of power steering will last until the car is shut off and you wait for awhile and sometimes when restarted it will be okay. (sometimes not okay) i have to drive it home using all the muscling i can muster to turn corners. periodic instances have become more frequent. when i start the car the power steering light comes on and it is hard to turn the steering wheel. sometimes when i shut the car off and wait awhile it will be okay to drive. other times it has stayed on throughout the trip. *tr

I noticed an unusual amount of road noise and vibrations when driving at speeds in excess of 45 mph. when taken to the dealer they initially suggested tire replacement/alignment. since the tires were about due i did so and there was improvement but it continued. my second visit to the dealer revealed the front left wheel bearing was failing. luckily i had a free extended 80,000 mile drive train warranty and they repaired it minus deductible. *tr

We own a 2007 toyota camry hybrid with a "slow to return" gas pedal. we reported this problem to yuba city toyota (california) in early to mid 2009 (prior to the toyota recall). the technician at that time verified and confirmed the "slow to return" gas pedal and said it must be common with the camry hybrid. when the current gas pedal recall was announced we contacted yuba city toyota and was told the camry hybrid was not included in the recall even though we complained about the problem on prior occasions prior to the recall. on janaury 29, 2010 i contacted toyota by using their "customer experience" telephone number (1-800-331-4331) and was told by in customer service that a "reprensentative" would call us within two days. as of today, we have not received a telephone call back from toyota and yuba city toyota will not assist in any repairs without authorization from toyota. the toyota reference # 1001148767 was provided to me by toyota on janaury 29, 2010. i have attempted numerous times to contact toyota customer service with negative results due to the high number of calls to toyota. the toyota camry hybrid has a problem with the gas pedal and someone needs to assist toyota camry hybrid customers with getting this issue resolved. *tr
