My airbag light is on for no reason whatsoever. it was supposed to be taken care of in a previous recall i believe but with this update on other vehicles effected i 100 percent sure my 06 avalon xls and maybe others are having airbag issues. the seats (leather) have been effected by the seat warmers over heating

My dashboard warning light for my airbag has become illuminated all of the time. i am the original owner of this car, 161,000 miles on odometer. dealer wants $75 to "check out" the warning light. i don't believe i should be charged any amount to check the vehicle's safety system. i am concerned that i have a defective airbag system, possibly manufactured by takata. i do live in a humid environment in eastern kansas.
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 toyota avalon. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 15v043000 (air bags) however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. the contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. the manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. the contact had not experienced a failure.
My car has always been kept in the garage, except for being at work. i have cracks all over the passengers side airbags. i was in the hospital getting a lung transplant when the extended service letter came out offering to replace it. i didn't drive for two years because of illness. when i went to the toyota dealer he said i missed the deadline by a week. he said he had the parts and would like to do it but would need an ok from toyota corporate . i called toyota and they said there is nothing they can do. if there is a class action lawsuit on this i would like to join'..i did nothing to cause this, it is a manufacturer defect and a safety hazard. i f the airbags deploy, it could kill someone
Noticed that the dashboard section air bag (console) on passenger side has started "cracking". when first noticed it was approximate one inch in length, & is progressing currently approximate 2" inches in length. call toyota to inform and suggested i take to dealership where i service my vehicle. upon doing so the dealership stated it was ok and wouldn't diminish the integrity of the airbags going off. i still feel this is a safety issue with the console proceeding to crack, and believe once summer heat continues to hit dashboard it will progress to crack further. wife ( passenger) is quite concerned since she notices the crack getting longer. we garage our car, but if car was parked out in sun it could possibly get worse. *tr
The toyota avalon limited was hit broadsided at around 50 mph, or more on the driver side and the side airbags did not inflate. the driver had to be cut out of the car and the back passenger received some whiplash, and there was some damage to the back door. the whole dashboard received damage and buckled. the front passenger had severe trauma to her left leg. the car is totaled. i bought this car new in 10/2005. a recall of 133 cars were made around 3/2006. i was not the one notified and my air bags did not inflate and that was one of the reasons i bought this car. why wasn't my car notified? i really don't know if the front airbags would have worked if we were in a frontend collision. *tr
Driving east on coldspring lane- was crossing charles st at the intersection when other driver going west on coldspring lane attempted to make a left turn onto charles st going south i had no time to hit the brakes i ran into his side of the car passenger side-my air bags did not deployed. the front of the car was total destroyed. my wife and i sustained injuries. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 toyota avalon. the contact was driving 60 mph when the contact crashed into another vehicle. the air bags failed to deploy and the seat belt shoulder harness failed to restraint the contact. the contact sustained injuries to the shoulder. the vehicle was taken to a dealer but the manufacturer was not contacted about the failure. the vehicle was destroyed. the failure and the current mileages was 121,000. the vin was not available.
I had a collision with another vehicle and my car was totaled by the insurance company as there was major front end damage and no air bags deployed. the first reaction of three law enforcement officers, body shop owner, and insurance adjuster was the same, "i can't believe the air bags didn't deploy." this is not a play for money, but a request for help, if there is a product problem. i was not injured because i was wearing my seat belt and it worked. the car is still available for inspection but will be turned over to hartford insurance as early as today. *tr
Vehicle dashboard cracked in several places where air bags deploy. concerned this is a safety issue as air bag will/will not deploy as intended. many toyota avalon owners have complained on the internet with the same problem. contacted toyota corporate and local dealer who advised not a warranty item or subject to recall. *tr
Dashboard on this vehicle cracked in 2010. in subsequent years, several places cracked and became sticky to the touch where air bags deploy. concerned that airbag deployment would be a problem with pieces of dashboard being thrown. brought to dealers attention. advised out of warranty so nothing could be done. because of the potential safety problem - replaced the dashboard at a personal cost of $2000. this was a defective part as shown on the thousands of owners who had the same issue. toyota should reimburse me for cost to replace this safety issue defect. *tr
I think i experienced a surge in my 2006 toyota avalon. i was not sure but people observing that did not stay and wait for police said my car raced forward after stopped at a light. i ended up steering to the right and hit a tree rather than the car ahead or pedestrians. when the police and tow truck arrived they indicated that my airbag should have gone off, but it did not. *tr
The day after my car had 3 recalls corrected, i was driving around 20 mph when the car started to take off. i put the brake on real hard and got it stopped at about 35 mph. needless to say my passenger and i were scared to death. *tr
On sunday, september 6, 2009, my mother was driving my 2006 toyota avalon when she was involved in a crash due to an acceleration problem with the vehicle. she was also involved in a crash in my garage when the floor mat got stuck on the accelerator and cause her to run into the wall of the garage. i also have experienced several instances of acceleration after taking my foot off the gas pedal when attempting to brake which caused me to have to slam on the brakes to stop the vehicle. the insurance company deemed the car a total loss and it was only when i received the settlement papers from the insurance company did i find out there were problems with the airbags as toyota never sent me any correspondence regarding the problem with the airbags, the floor mats or the accelerator. *tr
I am in shock given the today?s news. i was in an accident on 12/01/08 in my 2006 toyota avalon. i could not stop the car and ran into the t-bar of a box truck in front of me. my car was totaled. after the accident we called the toyota experience center, they created a claim #1001145755 and erika with toyota said they would be in contact with us. we next heard from a [xxx] with toyota who then told us to mail our complaint to toyota motor sales claims department in torrance, ca. we mailed of the necessary documentation from the accident and never heard back from them. we called back on many occasions all to be never answered or given a run around, once told they were looking into it. nothing ever came of it all. we didn't know what to so we gave up, at the time we could not afford a lawyer. so today?s news was frustrating. months prior to my accident we took the avalon into dch toyota of simi valley to check out acceleration problems. they said nothing was wrong with it and told me i needed a transmission fluid exchange and to have the power steering fluid flushed. we were told nothing was wrong; clearly there was. i am just curios what actions we take now. i am so frustrated and disappointed. can you please advise me on what to do? information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
