We have classified the 6 complaints from 2000 Toyota Avalon about SUSPENSION into the following categories.
Passenger side tire shakes till i reach 45mph it stops
Suspension: makes strange sounds - like parts are grinding against each other especially when backing up. steering - makes unusual sounds - as if parts are rubbing against each other.
The consumer paid for repairs of timing belt, alternator belt, power steering belt, hub and wheel bearing, and o-ring on 2000 toyota avalon xls. consumer vin not included in rear hub assembly recall. *kb the consumer had the left rear axle bearing replaced prior to receiving recall notification. the repair facility indicated that they could not honor the repairs because the vehicle was not manufactured within the limitations of the dates listed on the recall. *nm
Dt: the contact stated this vehicle was experiencing the same problems as mentioned in nhtsa recall 00v154000 concerning rear suspension. however, this vehicle wa s not included in the recall due to vin. there have been no repairs made to the vehicle at this time. *ak
My 2000 totyota avalon has a "loose" and "twitchy" front suspension that presents itself as you approach normal highway speeds. as road feel and control diminishes with increased speed, the care becomes stressful to drive. this results in a "wandering" front end causing the driver to over-correct in even moderate turning maneuvers. this is most pronounced when several passangers or luggage is in the car. this is even now reported by consummer reports.
While making a left hand turn the vehicle has a knocking coming from the rear tire. due to a worn hub bearing located inside of the wheel. please fill in additional information. dealer is aware of the problem.ts
Consumer was traveling 65mph on highway and vehicle veered into another lane. dealership was aware of problem.*ak
Traction control light comes on intermittently, vehicle has been taken to dealer numerous times, cannot remedy the problem.*ak. consumer stated that the vehicle stability control was inopeartive.*tt
Front end "bottoms out" and hits the front tires when exiting and /or entering inclines to strip malls, etc. and v ditches on public streets when traveling at speeds less than 25 mph. this could cause loss of control of vehicle and damage to tires when going at higher speeds.*** dims11 ivoq entry posted after 12/12/02 cut-over to artemis***755954. *ak
Dealer states that this is an "unusual" problem for this vehicle. i called toyota & was told the 1998 & 1999 models had this problem but they thought that the suppliers parts weren't used in the 2000 models. they were, apparently, wrong. no safety defect listed in summary. *ak
