Here is a mangled model x in the auction yard. https://www.iaai.com/vehicledetails?itemid=34406683&rownumber=25&similarvehicleitemid=&isnext=&loadrecent=true it might possibly have been just an unfortunate accident....but, the devil is in the detail. look closely at the right hand back wheel. the tread is completely worn away. the tire is peeled off the wheel. something has speared into the tire and wheel and peeled them back over a quarter of the circumference. this certainly has the appearance of yet another failed suspension that has caused a self-inflicted injury to the tesla. i am finding it very difficult to understand why there has not been a formal inquiry into these alarmingly common tesla suspension failures. please take action. thank you. keef
Here is a model x in the junkyard. https://www.copart.com/lot/56259179/photos it has not been in a crash, no airbags have been deployed. the only slight problem is that the back wheel has gone totally whompy. why no recall? any other make of car that had even a small number of such suspension breakages would have been recalled long ago. please take immediate action. thank you. keef
Here is a model x in the junkyard. https://www.copart.com/lot/61279099/photos it has not been in a crash, no damage to the bodywork and no air-bags deployed. the reason that it is an insurance write off is that the air suspension has collapsed forcing the wheels up into the arches and damaging the weel well liners. the ludicrous thing is that teslas do not have any limit stops on the air suspension. a simple air leak can cause this failure which in many cases it then results in the wheel jamming up and wrenching off the suspension twiglets. what are you waiting for? how many more deaths do you need? are you guys just scared of elon musk? i'm not. yours in disgust keef
Model x in the junkyard. https://www.copart.com/lot/57745099/photos back suspension fallen to bits. wheel and tire hardly damaged at all. when's the recall?
Here is a model x in the junkyard. https://www.iaai.com/vehicle?itemid=28833816&rownumber=12&loadrecent=true back suspension has fallen to bits. as reported previously. tesla suspensions are made from extruded aluminum which has the strength of cheese. please take these contraptions off the roads before more people get killed. thank you. concerned citizen etc. etc.
I have been advised that it is preferable that owners file their own complaints of defects. unfortunately the owner of this tesla has not responded to my request that he does file a complaint. this is probably because he knows that if he does complain his tesla may be devalued and he risks being blacklisted by the company. the attached photographs show yet another fractured suspension arm. the owner is identifiable from the photographs and it would be very easy for nhtsa to contact him and obtain the broken part for inspection. it would also be very easy to trace the tesla service center records. here is the text of the complaint that the owner has posted on twitter. his photographs of the fractured parts are included with this submission. please investigate this. it is not an isolated incident. it is a design and manufacturing defect.. **@elonmusk @tesla my tesla x ((easily)) fell apart. my ((family)) was in the car. tesla just replaced the part with the same part & never answered important questions i have. feeling unsafe in your x. the manager did not care. please have corporate call me to discuss** please note: dummy us address used because your website will not accept an overseas address. my genuine contact details are supplied.
There has been a fatal tesla crash in mountain view california. the photographs which i have attached shows the lh front wheel has been sliced in half and is lying on the ground on the lh side of the barrier. the tire of the tesla is lying on the ground. it is impossible that the wheel could have been sliced in half by a collision with the barrier. the wheel has been sliced through by a broken suspension component jamming into the inside of the wheel while it was rotating just as though it was turning on a lathe and had a tool forced into it. there can be no doubt that this wheel was sliced before hitting the barrier. there is a single wheel skid mark just before the crash site. since the tesla has abs which should prevent wheel lock up and since this is just a single wheel skid mark it is almost certain that this was the start of the sliced wheel event. i would not be so certain of this if not for the fact that several identical cases have been identified and the details have been reported to nhtsa previous to this fatal crash. please look up reports #11080798 #10957436 #11042736 #11040822 the only other cases of car wheels getting sliced in half that i can find on the web are just a very few old model cars that have been badly maintained or repaired. for this sort of failure to be happening on near new tesla cars is simply unacceptable. i have file many reports of broken tesla suspensions and many of those could easily have caused a sliced wheel. i am not filing these reports frivolously. i am trying to prevent further loss of life. please take action immediately. thank you.
Here is a model x in the junkyard: https://www.iaai.com/vehicle?itemid=27010294&rownumber=13&loadrecent=true the suspension has collapsed on all four wheels. the air-bags have deployed because the car stopped abruptly when all four wheels jammed up in the wheel wells. there is no collision damage. the only damage to the car is self inflicted due to the suspension collapse. please investigate the reasons for these frequent failures in almost new cars. in this thread an owner reports a problem with the air suspension in a brand new car: https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/my-model-s-100d-broken-immediately-after-i-took-delivery.104956/ snip** not 3 minutes into my first drive, i was met with an error on the dashboard and center screen that said "air suspension needs service, contact tesla service". i decided to drive back to the delivery center and show them, but they weren't able to fix it. so 30 minutes into ownership of my brand new 100d and i was already driving it to the service center. they took the car at around 4 pm and it's 10:30 am the next day and haven't heard back yet.** please note that i am reporting these suspension complaints in the interests of public safety. a dummy usa address has been used to satisfy your website requirements but my correct name and email address is supplied. i have been informed that it is legitimate for a non owner and non usa resident to file complaints. thank you. concerned citizen. *tr
Here is a recently uploaded video in which a tesla owner complains of excessive vibration from the front wheels of his model x: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jkcql5l-nj4 he is on the phone to tesla who advise that engineering is working on the problem but there is not yet a fix available. he is assured that the car is perfectly safe to drive (yeah..right!). given the large number of cars that have experience sudden breakage of suspension components i believe that at the very minimum the car should be taken in for a safety inspection. if an owner reports abnormal vibration it is utterly reckless to tell that customer it is nothing to worry about. there is no guarantee that the car will not soon experience a catastrophic failure. no other car-maker would be foolish enough to place lives at risk in such a fashion. comments on that video prove that other owners are also experiencing the same problem. please take action immediately. thank you. concerned citizen.
Here is a model x in the junkyard: https://www.iaai.com/vehicle?itemid=26708909&rownumber=2&loadrecent=true no air bags have deployed which means that it has not been involved in a major collision. the entire front suspension has been ripped off. this looks like another case of self inflicted injury caused by the flimsy suspension being unable to cope with the forces generated by this heavy and powerful car. please investigate the reason for so many of these cars simply falling to bits on the highways. thank you. concerned citizen filing this complaint in the public interest.
Here is a model x in the junkyard:https://www.iaai.com/vehicle?itemid=26559880&rownumber=38&loadrecent=true it has been involved in a major front end collision and is listed as bio-hazard which means that occupants have been injured. the front end is badly damaged but the rear end of the car is completely undamaged except for the fact that the lh back wheel has gone totally whompy. it is extremely likely that the whompy wheel was the cause of the crash and not simply a result of impact damage. the wheel and tire are completely undamaged as is the rear of the car. it is almost impossible that the whompy wheel was caused by an impact since the wheel would be expected to break before the suspension fell apart if the suspension was built to normal automotive standards. please do not continue to give tesla the benefit of the doubt. a recall for these fragile and defective suspension components is long overdue. thank you. concerned citizen. date of incident is an approximation. speed and injuries are an approximation based upon the photographic evidence. vehicle is available for inspection at the junkyard.
Here is a model x in a junkyard in united kingdom: https://www.copart.co.uk/lot/47617487/photos the auction lists the car as having suspension damage. the suspension has collapsed on all 4 wheels. air-bags have deployed and there is some damage to the bodywork. it is extremely likely that the cause of all the damage was a case of tesla suspension collapse. owners have been deceived into thinking they are driving one of the safest cars in the world. reality is that these cars are involved in very many crashes caused by mechanical failures and that the car shatters like an eggshell in a serious crash. please take action to prevent more deaths and injuries. thank you. concerned citizen
Here is another model x in the junkyard. https://www.iaai.com/vehicle?itemid=26559880&rownumber=51&loadrecent=true it has been in a front end collision and has bio-hazard stickers indicating that occupants have been injured. the front end is badly damaged but the back end of the car is untouched except that the back left wheel is canted over at an angle meaning that the suspension is broken. the wheel and tire are undamaged so it is highly unlikely that the suspension was broken by impact damage. as can be seen from the photographs of the front end the tesla wheels are relatively fragile and would be expected to fail before the suspension did. broken tesla suspensions have sometimes caused ruptured brake hoses. it is possible that may have been a factor in this crash. these same suspension failures are happening repeatedly. please investigate concerned citizen. name and address supplied.
Here is a model x in the junkyard: https://www.iaai.com/vehicle?itemid=26452947&rownumber=50&loadrecent=true the front suspension has broken and the wheel has been sliced in half while it was still rotating. the back wheel has gone decidedly whompy which would have made the car difficult to steer. no air-bags have deployed. this was not a crash. it was a case of suspension collapse caused by a simple air leak or even a faulty software over the air upgrade. it is simply mind boggling that this contraption has not been recalled. please take action. thank you. concerned citizen.
Here is a 2017 model x in the junkyard. https://www.iaai.com/vehicle?itemid=25188896&rownumber=15&loadrecent=true both front wheels and suspensions have fallen completely off and one of the back wheels has gone all whompy. there is no sign of collision damage apart from the front suspension collapse which has destroyed the wheel arches. these suspension failures are occurring at a ridiculously high rate and in near new cars so it can not be blamed upon poor maintenance. please take action immediately rather than waiting for more lives to be lost. thank you. concerned citizen.
