On average, the 2006 Suzuki Forenza starts to “feel” problems with the POWER TRAIN and its various aspects after 71 524 miles.

Components Affected by POWER TRAIN Issues

We have classified the 32 complaints from 2006 Suzuki Forenza about POWER TRAIN into the following categories.

AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION 18

Recently reported POWER TRAIN problems on 2006 Suzuki Forenza

At speed on interstate highway, the car suddenly fell out of gear, and lost speed rapidly. dash transmission display showed scrambled gear in place of d. car continues to experience similar incidents and does not properly change gears; occasionally displays scrambled letter in place of appropriate display (r,n,d, 3, etc.)

Battery indicator and brake indicator illuminated on the cluster panel. when in drive, the display showing what gear you are in flashes an unrecognizable signal. some trouble accelerating.

Vehicle purchased new in 2006. under 16,000 miles one owner. hard shifted out of park or reverse. lost power when in drive with normal rpm's~ diagnosed as faulty transmission range sensor by independent repair shop. replacement part also faulty. please note mechanic used term "faulty". extreme safety issue. i expect suzuki motor company to issue a safety recall with parts that are designed not to fail at such low mileage. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 suzuki forenza. the contact stated that while attempting to shift the vehicle into reverse, there was an abnormal banging noise that emitted from the vehicle and the check engine warning indicator illuminated. the contact mentioned that there would also be an 'x' on the instrument panel next to the 'd' for drive on the shift selector. the contact was an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the range transmission sensor needed to be repaired. the vehicle was repaired, however the failure recurred. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 80,000.

Transmission range sensor is failing and caused a loss of power almost causing a major accident. this is a common problem with this model year, and needs to be investigated for a safety recall. *tr

When trying to shift from park to reverse the vehicle jumped and would not accelerate out of drive. when trying to accelerate forward it took a massive amount of power to go 10 mph. the vehicle will not shift properly and the check engine light will not stay on while the problem is occurring. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 suzuki forenza. the contact stated that while driving approximately 30 mph, the vehicle would no longer accelerate. the check engine warning light illuminated intermittently. the failure recurred sporadically. additionally, the contact stated that when placing the gear in reverse, the gear shifter would become jammed, causing the vehicle to jerk abnormally. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 33,000.

My check engine light will come on and go off every once in a while. it just went back on today. i noticed the acceleration was less when i came off a stop light almost like the car was in the wrong gear. i took it to a parts shop to see what the check engine was. it came up as a transmission range sensor. i have read that other people describing this same exact events happening in suzuki vehicles over 70,000 miles. this could be a real safety risk to the public if the transmission was to confuse itself as being in the wrong gear at high speeds. *tr

My transmission range sensor has failed for the third time in as many years. each time i have it repaired by the dealership. this malfunction causes the vehicle to spontaneously throw itself in to neutral or reverse either while driving or when vehicle is at a complete stop. while driving my car suddenly jerked very hard then slowed to an almost complete stop causing the car behind me to slam on its brakes and hit my bumper. i stopped, restarted the engine and then was not able to accelerate past 15mph even with my foot firmly on the gas pedal. like i said before, this is the 3rd time this has failed and i am glad that the person who was behind me stopped quickly and only tapped my bumper. this has also happened at higher speeds and is just an accident waiting to happen. suzuki needs to do a major recall!! i don't understatnd how so many people are having the same problem yet it is not being investigated! *tr

I was driving down the road like normal and came up to a stop light. as i was slowing down it downshifted hard and when i tried to accelerate from the stop light it took more gas than normal to pull away. i then noticed that my check engine light was on. i took my car to an auto store the next day to read the codes. it gave the codes po700 and po734. when this happened i had a loss of power and acceleration and was unable to go normal highway speeds. also when shifting from park to reverse or from neutral to drive it shifts hard and kind of clunks into gear. the next day i tried again and it was shifting just fine, but still had the check engine light. later that day the same problems from the previous day returned. when the second incident occurred i was trying to make it back home through a heavy snow storm. if this problem had caused me to stop on the side of the road i could have been hit due to the zero visibility. i have seen many complaints about this same problem and trouble codes and i believe something should be done about this. *tr

Driving down residential street vehicle stalled and began to idle high while in the "d" position. applied brakes and tried to put it in to "p" position but dash read reverse. turned ignition off and gears shifted as designed. 4 incidents followed this one have not had it repaired.i was putting gas in with the engine off one i got back into the vehicle cranked it and immediately the scrambled symbol appeared i cut the engine back off and tried it again and the scrambled symbol was still visible i shifted down through several gears with clunking noises and heavy jerking until i was able to find drive 3, i was able to move the vehicle at a slow pace to a parking space until i had it towed to my home. sent it to a mechanic had throttle repaired put the very same day the very same problem occurred while my children and i were on the interstate headed home from their school. was able to shift to drive 3 and get it off of the roadway.turned off ignition and cranked it up again the vehicle ran normally took it to an autozone so that the check engine code could be read and it came back as p0700 and p0705 have not had the funds to have it looked at by suzuki dealership. with this as an recurring with other vehicles as well as mines something has to be done before someone is greatly injured or killed just stating the obvious. love the vehicle but afraid to drive it even if the necessary repairs are made i don't want to feel as if im driving my and my kids death mobile. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 suzuki forenza. the contact stated that the vehicle failed to accelerate from a complete stop and a banging noise was heard . the contact also stated that the engine light illuminated. after letting the vehicle sit for a while, it was restarted then operated as designed. the vehicle had not been diagnosed by a mechanic. the failure and current mileage was 80,000. ..updated 03/18/13 *bf the consumer stated the plastic spine in the switch slid onto the metal spline coming out of the transaxle, so when he shifted into gear, the switch would electronically tell the system what gear it was in. the plastic switch burned out over time.

My check engine light came on. i went to auto zone and was told it was the transmission sensor. after some research, we discovered this problem runs rampant on 2006 suzuki forenza models. we took it to the dealership and the manager over parts and service changed the sensor for us. however, the connector it plugs into was broken and he would look for a used one, as buying a new one means buying a whole new engine harness ($800-$900). anytime i look up my make and model this is all anyone has to say and suzuki will do nothing about it except charge more money to keep trying to fix it.they should be forced to recall all of these vehicles until the problem is resolved. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 suzuki forenza. the contact stated when the vehicle was shifted into drive an "x" mark appeared over the drive sign. the contact was not sure what the "x" mark indicated. in addition, the vehicle stalled and shook abnormally as the contact shifted into drive. the vehicle was taken to a local mechanic who advised the contact that the gear shift sensor needed to be replaced. the contact did not have the gift shift sensor replaced. the failure mileage was 70,000.

Accelerating up a hill, the check engine light came on solid (not flashing) and the "d" on the dash display where "drive" is signaled was flashing an incomprehensible icon that was not found in the owner's manual (looked like a square with two slashes through it.) the new transmission signal would flash for 10-15 miles or so starting during acceleration. the part that the dealership replaced was a "transmission range switch." *tr

i was driving on the freeway when all of a sudden my car stales.. thank god i was close to the right shoulder. i just got the car back from the mechanic and spent 500 to fix the timing belt, new battery, valve, oil change.. i took it to them for this problem in the first place and they couldn't figure it out. i called suzuki corporate and they said there is nothing they can do. i explained the huge liability if my call just stops in the freeway.. they offer to hold my hand through the process. suzuki needs a rude awakening. recall on the transmission range sensor.. i am not sure if that is the problem because no body at the shop could figure it out. but i see on these forums i am not the only one.. *tr

For approximately year prior to the incident date indicated on this form, 06/05/2012, my vehicle has malfunctioned sporadically in the way(s) i am about to describe. since 6/05/2012, the malfunction has occurred and worsened every time i drive. upon the initial gear shift from "park" to "reverse," my suzuki forenza jerks. after the shift, the dashboard displays a "p," despite being in reverse. when i shift to drive, i feel a jerk, and my dashboard displays a multitude of things; at times it remains a "p," and at other times it shows "n" for neutral, "r" for reverse, a simple "d," or a flashing "d" with a diagonal line through it. as i press the gas to accelerate, my rpm's increase, the engine revs, but my car does not move forward for a period of anywhere from 10 seconds to a full minute. the vehicle then jerks and shoots forward very quickly, which is greatly hazardous and alarming. once my vehicle is in motion on the road, a separate but seemingly related incident occurs at various speeds- i can be on a neighborhood street or the interstate. all of a sudden, it feels as if my car is shifting itself into neutral and is still moving due to momentum. although i immediately remove my foot from the gas pedal, my rpm's shoot up into the 6/7 range, the engine sounds as if it is going to explode, and the vehicle jerks. at this time, the dashboard displays a number of different shifts, alternating from the flashing "d," to, "p," and so on. i have researched this issue and found that hundreds of other suzuki forenza owners have experienced the same malfunction, due to the transmission sensor. it may be a relatively easy and inexpensive fix, but that doesn't lesson the severity. this vehicle has had 4 other safety recalls thus far, and i am enraged that it is has not been recalled entirely due to this widespread and extremely dangerous malfunction. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 suzuki forenza. the contact stated that after stopping, the vehicle would hesitate and hinder the contact from shifting into any gear. the vehicle was taken to a dealer who inspected the vehicle and advised that the transmission range sensor failed. the manufacturer was notified who stated there were no recalls for the failure. the vehicle was repaired under warranty. the failure mileage was 62,000.

I have a 2006 suzuki forenza. often when i put the car into gear, it "clunks." then when i am driving down the road, no matter what the speed, the car shifts itself into neutral. i can drive if i put it into 1st, 2nd, or 3rd gear after it shifts into neutral. after several minutes or later in the day i can get the car into drive again, but the problem repeats itself daily. *tr

My 06 forenza would not shift into drive and the check engine light would come on then it would get better and the check engine light would turn off. then i started getting the periodic clunk and scrambled display, usually while in a parking lot or when just starting a trip and driving slow. i finally took it to advance auto and they told me it was the transmission sensor. they sent me to the dealer who made me take the car back home because the check engine light had turned back off and they couldn't read the codes. it's still not fixed because when the check engine light comes on it never at the shop. i have researched online and find that a lot of consumers are having the exact same problem with this car. i think suzuki should do a recall for this problem because it's not a random problem but seems to be a standard problem. *kb

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 suzuki forenza. the contact stated that while stopped at a stop light, the vehicle would not accelerate. the failure occurred at different speeds intermittently. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for a diagnostic test. the mechanic stated that the transmission range sensor would have to be replaced. the contact also stated that the same part was replaced two years prior to owning the vehicle. the vehicle was repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 25,000.

I purchased a used 2006 suzuki forenza in california. biggest mistake of my life. i have had nothing but problems since i brought the vehicle. two weeks after my purchase the engine light came on. i was visiting family in las vegas who helped me find a near by dealer. after the diagnostic they advised me the valve cover was sealed improperly. now i just got the car 2wks prior so i called the used dealer i brought he car from and let them know what was going on. not to mention the passenger door handle broke off. i see i am not the only one with door handle complaints. the dealer in las vegas fixed the leaking valve cover and replaced one spark plug as oil leaked into it. this was fixed under the warranty. a month later the vehicle started to stall and then accelerate by itself. the engine light came back on so i took it to a suzuki dealer in van nuys, ca. the service manager advised me after the diagnostic it was the battery. i had the battery replaced and paid a diagnostic fee a total of $275.00. a few months after that the engine light was back on. while on my way to work the car stopped accelerating almost causing a vehicle to hit me. i took it back to the same dealer in van nuys who advised me the throttle was the issue. they replaced the throttle and the same issue is happening. they now claim it's the main engine wiring harness. i called american suzuki to see if the "engine wiring harness" is covered under warranty. the power train does not cover the wiring harness. the dealer is asking for $1600.00 to replace it or $489.00 to repair the wires. i have only had it for 7mos. the dealer also gave a lengthy list of recommended services totaling $2541.00. i declined all recommended services and currently do not have a working vehicle. i believe the issues with this vehicle are pre-existing and the dealer i brought it from knew about it. i plan to return this car.

I have had my transmission range sensor replaced, and my vehicle still lacks power when pressing on accelerator. my veh jerks when driving and slows down. suzuki must do something about this! *tr

I was driving my suzuki forenza last friday when it went from "drive" to basically neutral. i was driving on the interstate and was almost hit from behind because my car stalled. this has happened multiple times since and each time i've been lucky enough not to be hit. this is a seriously dangerous issue because it happens mid drive. apparently it's my transmission range sensor and it has happened to a lot of people. i cannot drive my car without going very slowly and being fearful. it will still do it each time i accelerate so i have to be mindful to drive on the right side of the road so i can easily pull into a side road or driveway. i'm hoping to get it fixed asap however it's not covered under warranty. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 suzuki forenza. the contact was driving 65 mph when the drive indicator flashed on the dashboard as the vehicle stalled. the contact took the vehicle to a local mechanic for diagnostic testing and was advised by the mechanic that the transmission range sensor was faulty. the contact noticed numerous complaints regarding the transmission range sensor for his make and model via the internet. the contact was concerned that the vehicle would stall and cause a crash. the failure mileage was 75,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 suzuki forenza. the contact stated that while driving 35, the vehicle would slip out of gear and stall. the vehicle would be pulled over to the side of the road and restarted. approximately one year ago, the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where an unknown sensor was replaced. the authorized dealer was notified of the recent occurrences and the contact was advised to bring the vehicle in for a diagnostic test. the contact stated that the vehicle was unsafe to drive. the failure mileage was 95,000.

I own a 2006 suzuki forenza. a little over month ago, me and my family were driving on the highway, and the car started jerking and slowing down very suddenly. after switching into 3rd gear and then back to drive, the car finally started picking up speed and driving correctly. a few days after that, i drove my daughter to school and when i got back in the car to go home, the car would not drive over 10mph. it kept jerking very hard. i took it to get diagnostics done and found that it is the transmission range sensor. i have done research on this issue with this particular vehicle and have found that this issue is very wide spread. i feel that no matter how well the maintenance on this vehicle is kept up, this issue is destined to become a problem and a safety issue. because this sensor glitch causes the vehicle to suddenly switch gears and slowdown without warning or brake lights, there is a high possibility for accidents. i believe there should be a recall for this to be fixed. i have not been able to drive my car for over a month because my family has only one income at this time from my husbands job and i cannot afford to have it fixed. i called the manufacturer and got no assistance. i contacted the dealer asking about a goodwill assistance repair and i have gotten no response. *tr

My 2006 suzuki forenza (current mileage : 51798 miles) sedan's transmission is slipping intermittently when driving on the freeways above the speed of 40-50 miles per hour. the check engine light came on and a line through the "d" on the instrument panel showed up, which acts like the car is in neutral. when trying to accelerate by pushing the accelerator pedal, the car engines revs and delivers no power. if you pull over on the curb, turn the car off and restart it then the car is back to normal. i has done this 8-10 times now in the past 2 weeks. the failure continued to recur and i have taken this vehicle to an independent mechanic who stated that the transmission range selector switch which needed to be replaced due the error code "po 705 trans range sensor malfunction" showing up on the diagnostic system. i have read various complaints on the internet forums for posts related to transmission range selector switch on the 2006 suzuki forenza. through my research on the internet, i have found many people who have complained about this switch going bad in their forenza's in 40 - 60k mileage range and yet suzuki motors do not consider this important enough to recall. this switch is obviously defective and initially it started doing the symptom once a week, but now it is making it almost daily. this is a serious safety issue, and as i have seen in various forums, this is a very common complaint, i very strongly believe that suzuki must issue a recall. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 suzuki forenza. the contact stated that when shifting to reverse the vehicle would not respond. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the transmission range sensor was defective and needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure and the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 70,373 and the current mileage was 74,000.

Bought a used 2006 suzuki forenza, with about 45000 miles, ran good for 6 months, then all of a sudden i was riding it the car and pulled out into an intersection and the car stalled, and has been stalling ever since, i am scared to drive it anymore, i have not driven it for long distances, in 2 months, i drive it around the block every day, and some days it is fine and others it stalls, i can not trust the car now, but i am still paying on it, i called the dealership and they say it is normal wear, and i will have to get it fixed. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2006 suzuki forenza. the contact stated the automatic transmission sensor switch which also known as the transmission range sensor was defective and failed to function normally. while driving 45 mph there was a warning light and the vehicle shifted into neutral gear. the contact drove onto the emergency lane and within a few minutes the vehicle would reset itself. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated the transmission sensor needed to be replaced which was not covered under warranty or recall. the manufacturer was not contacted. the vin was unknown. the failure mileage was 51,798.

Been having problems with the check engine light being on/of for as long as i have had the car the gears started slipping or staying 3rd, 2nd or r all the time. took it in to try and have it looked at or check the transmission for fluids since it has a sealed transmission. first thing that came up was - i had no warranty, and prices for them to check to see why the check engine light is on before they can do anything. now the airbag warning light stays on as well as the check engine light. and the key will not come put of the ignition. very unsafe. what can a broke unemployed person do?. *tr

The check engine light keeps coming on. while driving approximately 30 mph the vehicle stopped accelerating. the vehicle was stopped and shifted into park. upon shifting it back into drive the vehicle operated as normal. also, as i move the gear into park, drive or reverse, the car jerks through each gear and drives real slow before picking up the speed that can be very dangerous especially at the intersections with oncoming traffic. previously, i had taken the car to dealership for same reason who told me to replace the transmission range sensor. since it was not covered under warranty i spent over $300 to get it replaced. four months later, engine light came back again and the car has same problems as before. please help. *tr

2006 suzuki forenza. the check engine light keeps coming on. also a "line" through the "d". engines revs on acceleration, but acts as if in idle, then lurches forward. has happened several times intermittently. online research indicates this problem is widespread. *tr

I have a 2006 forenza at 36,000 miles my seat belt light remains on and was fixed once under the recall but now they won't fix it again. then i find out when i took my car for more tires that they are being eaten up by bad rear struts.the car had at that time 56,000 miles. the struts are expensive and of course dealer parts. and now my transmission is slipping. no way to check or fill it unless you go to the dealer and they charge a fortune to do that and where i live there is only one dealer in a several hundred mile radius so there is a long wait. this car is a piece of [xxx] and i think this needs to be recalled. what can you do as a consumer? this is crazy. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 suzuki forenza. while traveling 45 mph, the contact noticed that the vehicle would no longer accelerate. however after restarting the vehicle, the contact noticed that the failure had corrected itself. prior to the failure, the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the shift sensor was replaced twice. the vehicle had not been inspected or repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 30,000. the current mileage was approximately 158,000.

A malfunction occurs when i attempt to shift gears from park to any other. 1. it makes a loud, deep sound, similar to "thunk-thunk" and if i don't have my foot on the brake hard enough, the car lurches. 2. the dashboard signal for pdrn etc randomly changes to a weird symbol that is not any letter in the american alphabet. 3. it makes a revving sound which should indicate a higher velocity when in fact it is at a lower velocity. 4. it will not accelerate properly. when entering a high frequency road or highway, i have to floor the gas pedal to go normal speed then maintain it. 5. it shifts out of drive into neutral while i am driving and independently of my activity, thankfully approximately only about once every month. 6. the check engine light is always on. 7. the mechanic said it was related to the transmission but was called a range something or other. 8. i notice these problems more in stop-and-go city traffic than on long uninterrupted distances. 9. i consider these random car behaviour problems unstable and unsafe. 10. to any driver new to handling/driving my car, i would have to explain its quirks for them to drive and not have a tragic vehicular accident involving the improper response of my car to normal use. 11. the warranty ran out long ago. it was only for three years. the problems started occurring after the warranty expired, of course. 12. it will cost me about $200 to get the range whatchamacallit fixed, $200 of which i believe suzuki should pay. unrelated problem, sometimes the seatbelt buckle unclicks itself. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 suzuki forenza. the contact stated that the check engine warning light illuminated. the vehicle was taken to a local repair facility where he was informed that the transmission range sensor had failed and would need to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the current and failure mileage was 44,900.

Tl*the driver owns a 2006 suzuki forenza. while driving approximately 45 mph the vehicle stopped accelerating. it decelerated and would only drive at speeds lower than approximately 20 mph. the service warning lights also began to illuminate on the dashboard. the vehicle was stopped and shifted into park; upon shifting it back into drive the vehicle operated as normal. the failure continued to recur and the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated that the transmission switch needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. approximately one month later, the failure began to recur while driving approximately 45 mph for an extended period of time. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and it was repaired. she also stated that both front door handles were fractured from the interior. the failure was not diagnosed. the failure mileage was 27,000 and the current mileage was 30,000. updated 02/08/11*lj the consumer also stated the door handle snapped off the vehicle. updated 04/21/11

I have a 2006 suzuki forenza with an automatic transmission. for the past few months while we are driving the car shifts out of gear, into another gear, or will not shift at all. we have taken the car into west valley suzuki to have diagnostics and repairs done, they have replaced a transmission sensor, but one week after the repair was done we are still having problems. the issue is intermittent, but we are concerned about the safety of our family that the car would just shift without the driver moving the shifting stick. we have just taken the car back to the dealership and they are saying that there is nothing wrong, and they can't fix anything. *tr

I have a 2006 suzuki forenza with less than 50k miles on it. the transmission range sensor needs to be replaced. it begins when i put the car in reverse.the car will jerk and the rpm's will begin to rev but car wont take off and when it does, it goes very slow for a while. as i move the gear into park, drive or reverse, the car will jerk through each gear. this began happening once or twice a month and now has progressed to at least once a day. this is not safe when going through an intersection because you can take off when there are no cars, but the cars soon come racing through and i'm still not across the intersection yet because the car moves extremely slow when the light is on. my husband is stationed in germany and car repairs are extremely expensive here so we haven't gotten it fixed yet because we don't have that kind of money. *tr

2006 suzuki forenza: while driving on highway at 70 mph, "engine" failed to accelerate when i stepped on the gas. car sounded and felt like it was in neutral when i pressed the gas pedal (engine revved, but didn't go anywhere). panel showing what gear i was in showed an r with and "x" through it even through i was supposed to be in drive. car decelerated quickly to 40mph. i put car into third gear to get the power back. this same problem happened twice while on my way to dealership for repair. drove in third gear for the rest of the way to avoid further engine failure while driving on busy streets. on 3/25/2010 i called suzuki dealership and was told by service representative that my problem sounded like a bad sensor. while at dealership, representative was proved right, car had a bad transmission range sensor. service representative stated that they were fixing a lot of trs in 2006 forenzas. repair not covered by extended powertrain warranty, i paid cost. part was approx $50 and labor was approx $150. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2006 suzuki forenza. while driving 40 mph, the vehicle changed gears independently without warning. the failure began on january 9, 2010 and recurred three times within the weekend. the speed sensitive warning light illuminated after the vehicle changed gears. the contact was forced to shift the gears in drive 2 in order to drive forward. the vehicle will no longer shift into drive; however, the vehicle has to be driven in drive 3 to operate normally. the failure mileage was 37000.

Transmission range selector switch on the 2006 suzuki forenza is failing, and yet they do not consider this important enough to recall. through searching, i have found many people who have complained about this switch going bad in their forenza's. this switch is obviously defective, and initially would only "act up" about once a month, now it has progressed to once or more a week. *tr

I purchased my car brand new in june of 2006. since then i have had the transmission range sensor replaced four times. this is the part attached to the transmission which controls the speed and gear changing. my car suddenly falls out of gear and refuses to accelaerate at an appropriate speed. it refuses to take off properly. this part has been replaced twice since jan 2012 and is currently being diagnosed for the same issue. i ahve researched several times and have found this issue to be a concensus amongst many forenza 2006 owners. this vehicle needs to be recalled due to this faulty part. it is unsafe and endangers not only the life of the driver of the vehicle but also others. *tr

Funny how after the service warranty went out on the car so did the transmission..took it to the dealership and it cost me to have a switch replaced on the transmission repaired as suzuki stated that it was not under the warranty....exactly 6 weeks later the power steering pump went out on the car i took it to the dealership and was advised that the shaft walked out of the pump...imagine that...my thinking was does it have a mind of its own to just walk out. i started doing research on the forenza and to my surprise i found out that the forenza is not actually a suzuki, it is daewoo with the suzuki name...funny how that was never mentioned when i purchased the vehicle, had i known beforehand that i was purchasing a daewoo i would have never purchased the car. to have the power steering pump replaced it is costing me $1000. as i did further research on the car it seems that the ceo of suzuki is aware that the gm daewoo was such a horrible buy however they are not doing anything to compensate any consumers who purchased the forenza, they have just decided in 2009 they will no longer make the forenza. i checked the blue book value for the car that i purchased in 2006 and it is worth 2300, meanwhile i still owe 11000 on the car. in addition the powersteering pump is on back order, the dealership was not able to offer me a loaner because i am outside of warranty and i have no means of getting back and forth to work. as i look through all of the complaints filed on this website i see that there are many people who was/did have the same problems that i did with the transmission, door handles (which i also replaced myself) and the powertrain. i will be filing a class action lawsuit against suzuki for their failure to advise me beforehand that i was purchasing a daewoo (another piece of '!@#$% car). *tr

Transmission range sensor. first went down in 2009. replaced part, now it has gone out again, will have to replace now 9/12/2011. from what is understood, this part will continually have to be need to be replaced. causes hard shifts and no shifting . *tr

When i first brought the car on 1/30/2006, it started giving me problems, such as not starting up, the engine light on and off all the time. the emergency brake light on constantly. the power windows rolling up and down by themselves. the power locks stop working and then work over and over again. when i'm driving, the car jerks and pulls all the time. (the pulling is coming from the transmission). i am a single mother of two and i feel real bad about getting stuck with a lemon. after i get out of school i take classes at night and my kids go to the daycare on campus when i picked them up after class, got in the car, started it up, and the front two windows rolled down by themselves, and would not roll up and it was snowing and we had to ride all the way home like that. the dealership doesn't care. as far as they are concerned, it is not their problem. it is a messed up world we live in where someone knows that you really need a car and they screw you with a lemon. until this present day, all these problems described still exist but so do me and my son-3 and my daughter-6 if anybody can help, it would be greatly appreciated. thank you. *jb

Dt*: the contact stated while traveling 55 mph on the interstate, the transmission suddenly shifted from overdrive to first or second gear without warning. the rpm's on the speedometer increased drastically, and the contact let off the accelerator pedal. after the vehicle was slowed down to 25 mph, the transmission started shifting normally. the vehicle was taken to a service dealer, who determined the main processor had to be reprogrammed. the problem persisted after the processor was reprogrammed. the vehicle had been to the dealer 6 times for the same problem. the manufacturer was contacted and determined that this was not a safety defect, but gave the contact a rental car while the vehicle was being repaired.
