2019 subaru outback purchased december 2018, sand strike chipped and cracked the windshield within one month. this morning as we were driving down the street with no other traffic my wife noticed a crack forming and growing up from the bottom of the windshield on the passenger's side. the crack is now 17" long
Windshield cracked while parked overnight, nothing apparent came in contact with it to cause this.
I was driving into work on a smooth road in clear conditions when i heard a pop. windshield had a large star bust and crack spreading from the center. nothing hit the windshield. there weren't any extreme temps (it was about 60 degrees out) and i didn't have the heat or ac on.
I purchased a 2020 subaru outback one week ago (jan 30, 2020) today i have 700 miles and after hearing of charges against subaru for producing defective windshields i inspected mine and i noticed a 2' long windshield crack on lower drivers side. i'm concerned that it may spread later to impede my vision, but wanted to go on record that this defect exists.
My windshield was cracked starting under the wiper blade, at the lower center of the windshield, and cracked upwards about 5 inches, and spilt in two different directions. one length about 9 inches and the other side about 12 inches, and the cracks seem to be extending. the car was parked in my driveway. as i see it, around the crack there are no cracks, dings, chips, or any marks. the look of the crack doesn't resemble different shatter. my car is a 2019 vehicle that only has about 10,000 miles so quite new.
I was driving on a 2 lane hwy going about 50mph when i spotted a small star crack in the bottom, middle of my windshield. the crack has continued to grow, mostly horizontal over the next 2 weeks. the weather was mild, about 55 degrees and there was no one driving in front of me.
On returning to parked car mid-day on 2/2/2020 (a mild winter day, parked in shade at ski resort), i saw a t shaped crack on lower part of windshield just on passenger side of center. there was no chip or dent or crack in the central windshield when i parked the car. i didn't see or hear an impact to the windshield on the drive that morning. over the course of the next 10 days, this has grown, extending to the bottom of the windshield and across about half the width of the windshield.
Cracked windshield for no apparent reason. parked the car in the garage with no crack in the window came out in the morning and windshield was cracked. dealership will not coverunder warranty.
Unexplained windshield cracking starting from the passenger side at the edge of the window by the defroster.
Car has ~1000 miles. the windshield spontaneously cracked on the passenger side. no chips or impact. car was not in motion. just woke up one morning and noticed it was cracked. this appears to be a common problem with subaru cars. multiple reports and class action lawsuits.
