Below you may see the AIR BAGS components and the number of complaints they received.
The vehicle was rear ended and was pushed into another vehicle, and the airbags failed to deploy, the driver and passenger was injured. ts *jb
I was in a head on collision when a woman fell asleep and hit me head on. my air bags did not deploy. *jb

Subaru is unable to repair my vehicle for almost a month, i use my vehicle for work and this recall is potentially deadly.
I very rarely detail my vehicle. only once when i bought it in 2013 and again recently. both times, the seats were still wet from the detailing process when i picked it up. both times, while someone was sitting in the passenger seat while it was still slightly wet, the dashboard lights showed that the passenger airbag was not on. it didn't matter if the car was moving or stationary. once the seat dried, the airbag appeared to function normally. my husband took the attached picture while i was sitting in the passenger seat.
The front airbag passenger sensor malfunctions. it turns the airbag off while a passenger is sitting in the seat. this happens while the car is in motion, both on city streets and on the highway. restarting the car and repositioning the seat does not reliably turn the seatbelt back on. this happens even when the seat is dry.
When driving with a passenger the air bag for the passenger will not turn on and dashboard lights will come on.
I was involved in an accident on i-10 on 11/27/2019 at 2 pm. i was traveling at 60- to 65 mph and hit a suv that had stopped in the left hand lane. the airbags did not deploy ( passenger or driver side) i have reported this to subaru and so far they have not been helpful. i received contusions from my right hip to my left clavicle but no broken bones.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 subaru impreza. the contact stated that the air bag indicator did not illuminate when the passenger seat was occupied. the vehicle was taken to metro west subaru (948 worcester st, natick, ma 01760) where it was diagnosed that the air bag sensor on the passenger seat needed to be replaced and a new seat needed to be purchased. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 51,000.
The passenger side occupant detection system has failed. when someone sits in the passenger seat the airbag is not activated and the airbag warning light comes on. this seems to be a common complaint.
Compressing clutch pedal clicks 3 times loudly when car is on or off. sounds like under drivers dashboard. *tr the consumer stated air bag light on, horn isnt working, and steering wheel is off center. *tr
Passenger side airbag is turned off with a passenger sitting in the seat when the seat gets wet when something is spilled, or when the passenger sits in seat with damp/wet clothes because they got wet because it is raining outside. the passenger air bag light works properly when the seat dries out in a few days. this has happened multiple times , most recently being a few weeks ago. the light does not work properly when the car is moving or stopped.
Sometimes while i'm driving and when a person is in the passenger seat the air bag randomly turns off. also twice the seat belt alarm has sounded while i'm driving and non one is in the passenger seat. i had the issue checked out at the dealer today and the sensor is faulty and needs to be replaced at a $800 plus cost to me. i understand this is the same sensor that was recalled on the 2012 models.
