I own a 2006 scion xa. i bought the car new off of the show room. after 5 months of owning the car the check engine light came on. i took the car back to the dealership that it was purchased from. they checked it with the code reader. the codes were p2401- evap leak detection pump stuck on, p043e- evap leak detection orifice low flow, evap leak detection pump stuck off, p2419- evap pressure switching valve stuck on, p043f- evap leak detection orifice flow high. the dealer replaced 4 parts fuel tank filler pipe cover, filler pipe cover holder, charcoal caniste, and charcoal canister filter. they replaced the parts at no charge. i drove the car for almost 2 years and now the light has come back on for the same codes. i now have to replace the same four parts in a car that is less then 3 years old. *tr

Well, i too have a 2006 scion xa with less than 5,000 miles on it! the left tweeter and mirror combination must be a bad design because mine is leaking and it also caused the tweeter to fail. the ventilation system for heating/cooling and defogging is woefully inadequate. i'm very concerned about the person who stated that his scions have improperly gaped spark plugs!! doesn't seem like toyota and now, scion is building cars the way they used too. dealers and service people aren't very friendly and both dealerships in this maryland area are less than amicable or skilled about service-not very knowledgeable or don't really care. i'm very disappointed with this scion product-it rattles and squeaks on the interior, but it's hard to pinpoint where they are coming from and not the usual expected toyota quality. brakes seem to take too long to stop and are mushy even at low speeds. car is basically a modern-day disappointment and i read about the fuel filler tube needing to be replaced on a scion forum because poor design causes fuel to spill over when filling the tank to near full-happened to me on several occasions. thought i was supposed to enjoy my new car, but it it worrisome and will probably spend a lot of time getting the defects straightened out. also, on a scion forum, the radio controls on the steering and radio/cd head unit have been known to fail. car seems poorly engineered and low quality. headlights in particular are a very poor design on dark streets and also in the fog-provide little illumination for any distance. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2006 toyota scion xa. while driving 5 mph, the vehicle accelerated to 15 mph. the brake pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle would not stop and crashed into a tree. the vehicle was restarted and the throttle was fully engaged. the vehicle was towed to the dealer and they stated that the failure was due to the aftermarket rostra cruise control switch. the failure previously occurred without a crash and the dealer previously recommended that the cruise control be disconnected. the cruise control was not disconnected because the dealer stated that the failure had been repaired. the failure mileage was 13,200 and current mileage was 13,200. updated 3/4/08 *cn updated 03/04/08 *tr
