We have classified the 4 complaints from 2007 Scion tC about SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC into the following categories.
Driving on dry road at approx. 35 mph began braking to make turn into a parking lot. road surface was somewhat rough but not extremely. brakes failed to respond so i pushed pedal to the floor and they gradually slowed the car. i was not driving at an excessive speed nor being careless. as i turned into the parking lot at an excessive speed i almost hit a vehicle that was waiting to pull out on to the highway. due to traffic conditions and the shock of what was happening i could not safely change my direction of travel and was committed to completing the turn into the parking lot. *tr
My brakes fail to work on bumpy or slippery roads. when i press down on the brake pedal they start to shake and the car does not stop. i have noticed if i press the brake harder in those situations i'm able to gain control of the car once again. i have taken my vehicle to the car dealer and they tell me my brakes are fine that they are just worn down, but after replacing the brake pads the problem still happened. this hasn't caused an accident yet but it happens all the time i have had the luck to gain control of the car . my most recent incident was on february 3, 2010, the road was bumpy and wet and i was doing 25 mph. as i went to press down on the brake it started to shake and the car did not stop until i pressed harder down on the brake where i gained control once again. this has happened at least 1 to 2 times a month since i have had the vehicle and every time i take it to a repair shop all they tell me is that my brakes are worn out. *tr
My wife's 2007 scion tc bought brand new from wondries toyota in alhambra ca. my wife had three incidents where the brakes just wouldn't engage and felt "flat". first incident happened back in february 2008, second incident happened march 2008 and the third in november 2009. luckily my wife drives slow. the car was driven in the los angeles area when this happened (not in cold climates). took it to toyota, got charged on the inspection but "couldn't find anything wrong" according to the service department (yet still being charged a fee). i had since filed a complaint with the better business bureau (complaint id: 98471676), toyota wondries dealership and also toyota america head quarters but all resulted in vain. it would have been nice for toyota to admit their flawed design and fix the problem since we are talking about human lives here. *tr
Brakes won't work sometimes. feels mushy with no pressure at times, especially on hard braking and have to apply brakes a couple of times before any pressure is felt. first occurred some time in the summer of 2008. had the brake fluid flushed to make sure there were no air bubbles in system. dealers doesn't want to look at brake systems under warranty, because the excuse is, "issue can't be reproduced". no leaks indicated from brake master cylinder and brake pads are still good. brakes still feels no pressure from time to time, usually during the summer temperatures, probably 3 to 4 times during the summers especially when the temperature is high >90f. *tr
The instrument panel around the clock burned out for no reason. the car is not put together well everything sounds as if the frame will separate from the car. the car has a problem with the cooling system, if is really loud an shakes the car really bad. the abs in the car responds prematurely which it is really loud. the seat belts in the car does not retract properly cause damage to the seat hook in the car and it premature tights while sitting at a light so you have to unbuckle an re-buckle often in the car. the engine fan timing is off as if it does not know what to do and it is extremely loud. *jb
