Fuel sensor has an error and reads empty when fuel level is less than 3/4 of a tank. the reading is correct between 3/4 and full but once the level drops below 3/4 it says fuel sensor fail and then reads empty.
Existing case #11308350 hissing sound in gas tank while on road in motion, on a city street, and a highway and turning and stationary, even noticed it when truck is turned off and sound will not turn off, killed one battery already, truck does not smell like gas. maybe electrical definitely should be recalled seems dangerous. may also add that driver seat is flat and ripped due to manufacture defect like most cars and trucks, common issue should be recalled thank you
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ram 1500. the contact stated that while driving, the fuel tank showed empty, even while the fuel tank was full. the contact stated that the fuel gauge was inoperable. the fuel sensor failed which recorded the fuel level as empty. the dealer was not called. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 115,500.
I took my truck into a dealer because the exhaust system wouldn't clean itself. i found out there were recalls pertaining to this and they were handled as far as i knew. however, just a few weeks later as i was pulling into my driveway at home i noticed smoke barreling out from under the hood. i imediately tried to shut it off and when i did it would rev up higher instead of shutting off. i got it to shut off finally and left it sitting there overnight until i could get a tow truck to take it back to the dealership, where i was informed that this problem is now so common that the part is on back order and no idea of when they will be able to get it. now its 3 weeks later and i still haven't gotten my truck back.
Error code p0463: fuel level sensor circuit high input, this means my fuel gauge is experiencing failures and i can not accurately determine how much fuel is in the vehicle. doing a quick google search, this appears to be a very common issue with the 2014 ram 1500 5.7l. i'm at roughly 68500 mile on my truck so the issue is also out of warranty.
Fuel pump and fuel tank gauge are one assembly. system failed at 50k miles. dealer indicated this is a known problem and entire assembly must be changed at a cost of $1200. ram will not cover under warranty. i contacted chrysler/ram support and they said they would not be able to assist.
My vehicle lost signal from the fuel level sensor in the gas tank. the sensor now only works when the tank is between full and 3/4 full. it is now unsafe to drive as you don't know how far you can travel before running out of fuel. this is a known issue with this type of vehicle. people could become stranded in a desolate area or under adverse weather conditions and not be able to get help.
With a full fuel tank everything is good. between 3/4 and 1/2 tank the fuel gauge goes to empty, out of gas light blinks and fuel sensor fail light comes on. 5 minutes later gauge is back to 3/4 tank and fuel sensor fail engine warning still on. made a few stops and engine fail light goes off. then it all starts over and over.fuel sensor fail and gauge goes to empty.only 429201 miles. dangerous defect. common complaint
Fuel pump stopped working . put in new pump still didn't work.put jumper from accessories to fuel pump worked fine.changed relay's same proplem.something wrong in electrical system. pulled up to the house and shut off motor .whent to restart and nothing.
