We have classified the 29 complaints from 2019 RAM 1500 about ELECTRICAL SYSTEM into the following categories.
2019 ram with 12" screen developed electrical issues with 5100 miles. the screen and other electrical items will work fine in the accessory mode but as soon as you start the vehicle the screen goes black and a lot of electrical issues begin. the defroster goes on high, the seat does not automatically go forward, the front windows do not work and the blind spot sensor will not work. with screen out you have no backup camera and losing the blind spot also causes serious risk of an accident. first dealer the truck was taken to could not solve the problem. i have an appointment with another dealer and hope that they can resolve these issues. i noticed online they have a problem with the unconnect and sirius radio but i don't know if this is associated with my problem.
12' screen goes black.i frequently and randomly. sometimes turning ignition off reset the screen, sometimes it does not. them a few minutes or hour later the screen turns on. i am able to adjust some of the heat and fan settings with the screen black. any other controls of vehicle functions or selections are 'inop.' this condition occurs when the vehicle is stationary, at start-up. the condition has occurred 3 time when in motion on any street or highway (speed)
Crossing a busy intersection, my truck stalled in the middle of the intersection for no apparent reason. was eventually able to restart it, but stalled again after approximately two minutes. has been at cole chrysler since 9/5/2019. dealer says it may be the battery associated with the hybrid system. that part has not been available for two months, and there is no estimated time it will be available. after it is replaced, there may still be another problem.
Tl* the contact owns a 2019 ram 1500. while driving at night, the entire instrument panel illuminated and the power steering failed. the contact was able to pull over as the brakes were malfunctioning. the contact kept trying to turn off the vehicle and the instrument panel indicators kept flashing. after fifteen minutes, the vehicle finally started up and functioned normally while the indicators were still flashing. the manufacturer was contacted and advised the contact to call nhtsa. the dealer was not contacted. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the failure mileage was 8,000.
We purchased the vehicle on june 12th, 2019. after many electrical issues we took it to autonation for repairs. on august 27th we picked up the vehicle and they said the keyfabs on our brand new truck were aftermarket and caused over 120 codes. drove the vehicle on i45 (freeway) southbound from houston tx and the vehicle turned off while in motion. this could have been a very bad accident. driving at 60mph and engine dying. had to have vehicle towed to tomball dodge where we purchased vehicle. the vehicle again had over 120 codes on it. vehicle is still there weeks later.
I own a 2019 ram 1500 and the instrument cluster has stopped illuminating. i conducted internet research and learned there is a pending recall for 1... yes 1 ram truck in the us with this issue. eureka, i think i've located it! i called the recall phone number for fca and explained the situation. the call taker was unable to comprehend the issue and repeatedly told me i could not speak with a manager. the call taker hung up on me. i called back and spoke to a different representative and she would not allow me to speak to a manager either. this issue is associated with nhtsa campaign number 19v556000. i need this recall to be issued quickly so it can be fixed. according to various sites, the owner (i assume me) will be notified in early september. maybe we can just take care of this now. i am concerned with the instrument cluster issue since it is the display center for my odometer, and all other warning systems on the vehicle. i have previously taken my vehicle to the dealership for periodic illuminated check engine lights. the first time i was told that the truck had no record of the check engine light ever being illuminated. i took it back after more illuminations kept continuing. the dealership kept the truck for a week and were finally able to troubleshoot the issue. i have also had issues with my rather large radio screen failing to turn on and / or work. additionally, the brakes squeal like crazy. the dealership was unable to fix this issue and said it was just brake dust. the vehicle had only 2,000 or so miles on it at the time. i believe my truck only has about 3,200 miles on it right now, but i cannot really tell because i cant' see the odometer. i have read various complaints on this site regarding this model and many of them apply to me as well.
Tl* the contact owns a 2019 ram 1500. after the vehicle had been parked for a while, it was unable to restart. the contact stated that after several attempts the vehicle was started, but it independently switched back from drive into park. the vehicle was towed to lithia chrysler jeep dodge of twin falls (1310 pole line rd e, twin falls, id 83301, (208) 293-8571) to be diagnosed, but the mechanic was unable to retrieve a fault code or provide a prognosis for the vehicle. the manufacturer was contacted and informed of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 110. the vin was invalid.
I had just finished pumping gas and turned on my truck and shifted from park to drive. when i did this, nothing happened. i thought maybe i didn't turn the truck on so i pressed the push start button and turned off. turned it on again and shifted from p to d and still nothing. still in d i very lightly pressed the gas pedal and the truck jolted forward. this happened to me on two separate occasions. i'm not a mechanic but from what i have read, other people with same truck have had this problem and it seems to be the electronic gearbox. i have also heard a noise every time i press the brake that comes from the electronic gearbox and also a noise that comes from the brake pedal itself that sounds like sparks. my truck has under 400 miles as i write this on 07/04/2019. have had it less than 10 days.
When the car is running and put into reverse the backup camera randomly quits working. get a blue screen. has happened several times since i bought it in january 2019. dealership claims that they have not heard of it. took it to the dealership yesterday and of course camera was working fine. today it hasn't worked all day. the
Driving at 70mph the truck without warning went to idle with clicking sound towed to dealer said nothing wrong it was bad fuel not true fuel was fresh. talked to chrysler customer service told not aware of problem. i know this is not true talked to other ram owners had same problem. the problem is when it happens you shut the truck off and restart it, it acts normal. there is some bug in their system that is causing this shut down no one can find it i have heard they have had the same problem with some of their vehicles. before someone gets killed these vehicle should be taken off the road until the bug is found. i nearly got myself and others killed on the freeway. i have talked to the dealer and chrysler customer service they will not acknowledge the problem exists they will blame fuel or anything. my truck is a 2019 at the time of the shutdown there was 600 miles on the truck. for now the truck is sitting until i get some answers. i know there are others having the same problem and need help or the proper repair made we the public should not be the test drivers risking our lives for fca.
April 30,2019 my wife was in our yard and made a sharp right turn into driveway put on brakes truck didn't stop applied brakes harder truck accelerated brakes didn't stop truck and park-assist didn't stop truck . truck went through steps then hit house knocking house off foundation. air bag didn't deplore. *bf*jb
While back out my garage, all the service engine lights came on and started flashing and the dash started displaying service traction, service electrical, service shifter. auto park disabled. the wipers would come on automatically when in the off position. service air bag system. electronic throttle control and there was more. the lights on the dash started flashing and continued to flash even when vehicle was turned off. i disconnected wires from battery terminal to kill power so the lights would stay off. power doors would lock or unlock
While driving a brand new dodge ram 1500 (2019) the truck suddenly lost power and i was not able to control the steering of the truck, nor could i control the truck. this has happened on several occasions. this has happened on the city streets as well as the highway and it is very scary.
When i was driving my truck to slow down the vehicle was completely turned off and it is the second time it happens, to take it to the dealer comes a low-voltage code in the battery that they tell me is when you do not drive for a good time , but this is my vehicle of daily use. city street
Driving my truck in the city at the time of stopping the computer as it disconnects the change and asks me to put it back on the p and then select my gear again, and that already apasado twice as well.
Tl* the contact owns a 2019 ram 1500. the contact stated that the auto start/stop feature was not functioning properly as the vehicle had lunged forward several times causing the contact to apply extreme force to the brake pedal to slow down and stop the vehicle. the dealer (lustine chrysler dodge jeep ram, 14211 jefferson davis hwy, woodbridge, va 22191, (703) 496-5202)) had not test drove the vehicle yet to determine if they may be able to replicate the failure. the contact was uncertain if the feature may cause a catastrophic crash due to the intermittent failure. the manufacturer was notified of the failure to determine if they had a remedy. the vin was not available. the approximate failure mileage was 11.
Truck has 442 miles on it, check engine light came on began flashing. engine malfunction light indicator illuminated. sluggish on acceleration, blows heat regardless of temperature setting. all while in motion.
2019 ram laramie gear selector will show drive and not move until the rpm is @ 2000 and then slam into gear. this was after backing into a parking spot and then immediately going into drive to reposition the truck. this has happened twice. once an hour after purchase and once the next day. i bought this vehicle 3 days ago, 3/29/19.
While driving down a curvy rural road, my vehicle lost all throttle control. i almost wrecked and had to stop at the "exit" of a blind 55mph corner. the vehicle had multiple check engine lights on including a electromic throttle control failure light, park brake failure light, trailer brake failure light (no trailer connected at the time), and a generic check engine light.
This 2019 ram 1500 has serious problems. it should not be allowed to be driven on the road ever again. i would fear for my own life along with other people on the road. while driving my 2019 ram electronics through out the vehicle began to fail. this was while driving 70 mph on the freeway. power steering, shifter gear, electronic stability control, airbags, 4wd system, traction control system, abs system, auto brake system all failed at once. no headlights no brake lights and no turn signals. the dashboard even shut off. this is a serious nightmare and a danger to everyone. this is the second time this has happened with my vehicle and only was driven 20 miles after is was supposedly fixed. they replaced the ecm. i believe that if a less experienced driver was driving the vehicle it for sure would have ended up in a accident. at this time chrysler and snethkamp cdjr cannot figure out what the exact issue is to repair the vehicle
The main head unit lost sound and i have done some research and there have been multiple people with the same issue i have restarted my truck multiple times with no luck the sound was working just the night before i was at a stand still originally then started driving on a city road. there have been multiple complaints on forums for the 2019 doing that and hopefully they can figure out a solution to fix it a lot of people have said to unplug fuses but i shouldn't have to i spend the money on a truck at astronomical rate and expect it to work.
Power steering went out multiple times. would work after restarting truck then go out again. took it to the dealership to fix then went back out again after servicing. also have other service messages for suspension and lane control. check engine light came in after being serviced twice. truck is now in the shop for the 4th time with more electrical issues. it throws new codes everytime. lastest codes: implausible data received from tcm, calibration mismatch, implausible data received from rf hud and from radio, battery voltage circuit voltage below threshold, implausible data received from cruise control switch, edu not initialized, implausible/missing transmission message.
Vehicle gets stuck when shifting from park to drive as if electronic parking brake is engaged, though it is not. tapping the gas pedal then sends the vehicle jolting forward in an extremely unsafe manner.
I started my 2019 ram 1500 in a parking lot and shifted to drive, i started to slowly move forward when i heard a engine revving a couple times then accelerate. i stopped looked around and saw no vehicles in my proximity (open shipping dock). then i realized the sounds were coming from the inside of my vehicle. i started to move again and the noises persisted. i thought it would go away so i progressed onto a public street from the shipping dock parking lot and the noises continued. i was forced to pull to the edge of the road and cycle the ignition. it took two cycles of the ignition to make the issue cease. the second issue was a electric throttle control failure that resulted in my vehicle having zero throttle response and resulted in the vehicle getting towed to the servicing dealer. i live in a rural area with a lot of 55mph curvy roads and this throttle failure resulted in a disabled vehicle that could have easily been hit by surrounding traffic.
The cluster screen went out while stopped at a stop light just 2 months after purchasing our brand new truck.
While driving in dallas over the weekend, the trucks power steering became unavailable. happening at slow speeds through a residential area. the truck was stopped, turned off then started again and it came back. for a 6 mile drive, this is how the truck acted. once it was left parked for 3 hours, it started and ran fine. the following morning while driving down the interstate at 75 miles per hour, the power steering became unavailable yet again. this lasted for over 19 miles, but finally came back.
Tl* the contact owns a 2019 ram 1500. while driving 15 mph, the vehicle vibrated abnormally and smoke emitted from the engine compartment. in addition, fuel leaked from the tail pipe. the vehicle was taken to john elway's claremont chrysler jeep dodge ram (located at 620 auto center dr, claremont, ca 91711, (909) 962-7462) where it remained for approximately three weeks. the dealer replaced the starter. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 90.
While driving my work today i was taking a left turn and my power steering stopped working. my car had the power steering light pop up and also my screen in my gauge clustered said, "power steering unavailable service required." i literally almost crashed into a huge electrical pole. due to my steering while becoming extremely stiff. my current milage is 2270.6 miles. about a minute later my power steering came back and my truck was fine. while parking my truck at work in the parking lot about 5 min. after the first failure my power steering failed again but came back within seconds. on the way home from work tonight my power steering failed and didn't come back for about 8mins/several miles. my power steering continues to fail then come back to normal then fail again. the vehicle was in motion and on a city street. this occurs randomly while turning and or going straight.
I purchased the truck on 10/4/2019. on 10/6/2019 was delivered to my house. after going over the features the sales representative left. i tried backing the truck out of the drive way the truck would not back up because of the brake sensor system. the buttons to control the functions on the steering wheel did not work as well. i took the car to the dealership that same day. it's been siting there unrepaiired. the deal ship says they are unsure of the problem and have opened a ' star case' with dodge manufacture. i have called everyday asking for updates they say they don't have any news or updates.
Since purchase my 2019 ram truck has lots of issues with the 12 inch screen. it controls everything on the truck. the screen goes blank all the time and you are not able to control any thing on the truck , steps , air condition, heat etc.... when the screen acts up the auto retractable running boards stay out until around 15 mph. also the ac and heat will automatically come on and you cant shut if off, no controls will work. i have 27 videos of my truck not working right and all dealer says is sorry we cant duplicate. the steering is also always off. the steering wheel gets off to the left then goes off to the right. dealer states it takes 500 miles for it to auto align it self to re learn center. feel free to call [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tt
