Problems with 2016 RAM 1500 VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

On average, the 2016 RAM 1500 starts to “feel” problems with the VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL and its various aspects after 42 821 miles.

Recently reported VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL problems on 2016 RAM 1500

In order to register my vehicle in california i was forced to accept the v08 emissions recall. after this recall, i have noticed substantial lag between depressing the accelerator and between when the vehicle accelerates. i was told there would be no change in performance by both the dealer and fca. i have almost been in two accidents now because i attempted to execute a left turn and even though i was depressing the accelerator, the vehicle sluggishly rolled through the intersection and then 2-3 seconds later, accelerated rapidly making it difficult to maintain lane integrity while navigating the turn. i generally drive fairly modestly which is why there have been only two life-threatening incidents in the past 3 or so months that i have had the "update". realistically though, this forced update has changed the nature of the truck and made it ultimately more dangerous to drive. all of this behavior began after the noted recall. i spoke with the dealership where the recall was performed, and was told that they have received this complaint from other drivers as well, and that while ram was aware of the problem, they had no remedy at this time. the date mentioned in the report is simply of the most recent of incidents that i mentioned.

Tl* the contact owns a 2016 ram 1500. the contact stated that the cruse control operated intermittently at first but became inoperable. the contact called the payne auto group dealer, located at 2401 e expressway 83, weslaco, tx 78596, where the technician stated that an unknown recall was repaired previously. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 31,000.

After complying with the v08 (aem) software update due to the ram ecodiesel emissions update my driving experience/performance has changed dramatically. during acceleration their has been anywhere from 3-6 delay seconds before adequate power and speed can be felt. this is at a full stop such as a stop sin or red traffic light. during highway traffic (passing) or merging into a lane is were is most noticeable. this failure occurs even when engine is properly at operating temperature and is worse right after start up. since multiple people use their trucks for towing purposes, this greatly increases the effect and even further decreases the performance that is relied upon. the aem software update specifically states "the aem is not expected to change any of your key vehicle attributes, such as average fuel economy, reliability, durability, vehicle performance, drivability, engine noise or vibration, or other driving characteristics." this directly contradicts the class action lawsuit remedy requirements. due to the failed instant acceleration as well as taking up to 3500 rpm before forward movement can be established in some instances has led me to formally create and record a safety concern that requires immediate attention. failure to do so puts owners of 2014-2016 ram 1500's that are affected by the aem update at risk, not only to ourselves but to the other drivers around us. before this update was conducted there were no engine/transmission/propulsion related issues whatsoever. lastly as another effect but less important is the obvious decrease in and loss in mpg. please hold fca accountable and have them address this issue before lives are fatally affected.

While driving with cruise control on and i have to hit the brake to kick the cruise control off .sometimes when i push the button to kick it back on it will not go back on, so i turn the cruise off and back on it will not work until i stop and turn the truck off and start it back up before the cruise control will reset

Tl* the contact owns a 2016 ram 1500. while the accelerator pedal was depressed, the vehicle stalled and then violently accelerated. also, the check engine warning indicator illuminated. the contact mentioned that the warning indicator only illuminated when the failure occurred periodically. the vehicle was taken to larry h. miller chrysler jeep dodge ram albuquerque (8528 lomas blvd ne, albuquerque, nm 87110, (505) 404-0108) where the contact was informed that the cause of the failure might be because the brake and accelerator pedals were depressed at the same time; however, the cause of the failure could not be determined unless the warning indicator was illuminated. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 48,711.

Had the recall v08 done and now my truck lags power and takes forever to accelerate when turning into traffic. it seems to be worse when it is colder. it also has lost power when i'm towing. i'm scared to drive it with my family in it.

This vehicle has a 3.0 eco diesel engine. chrysler had a recall to update this engine which i had them do. ever since the update there has been a long pause after pushing on the accelerator till the engine speeds up. this often times results in a dangerous situation when pulling out to merge into traffic. we live near a busy round about and when pushing on the gas to enter, nothing happens so you push down more, then all at once it takes off like a bullet and you hope you don't hit somebody. i have taken it back to the dealer more than once and they say they can't do anything to correct it. i have called the recall number at ram and didn't get anywhere there either. the dealer said they get a lot of complaints about this but there is no fix. this is a dangerous situation.

Dangerous lag in throttle response in emergency situations.. delay in throttle response is greater than 4 seconds in all attemps at acceleration.

After fca completed the emissions recall on my 2016 ram the truck now does not want to accelerate into traffic. this is caused several issues when trying to merge into traffic or onto the interstate. also while pulling a trailer i was not able to accelerate properly into traffic or to the highway. due to this while pulling out in traffic i have barely avoided several wrecks.

After the new update that was forced on the eco diesels owners, i have had problems with accelerating after starting up and taking off. we have almost been in an accident due to this lag in acceleration. it gets a little better as it warms up but not much better. this is very dangerous when trying to get out in an intersection or get to the flow of traffic. one time i was pulling out into an intersection and i had the peddle to the floor and nothing, if i was further back on the hill i'd probably would have gone backwards. still happens.

I had my vehicle in to the dealer for an oil change and was told there were some recalls. long story short is the "recall" was a software update to fix emissions issues. after the recall work the engine performance in dangerously bad. there is a delay in acceleration that is going to get someone killed. i don't drive my truck very hard so i didn't notice it at first, but i went to make a left handed turn at a light and was almost hit because my truck didn't perfrom and it had in the past. the literature i was given after the "recall" work was done say "the aem is not expected to change any of your key vehicle attributes, such as reliability, drivability, vehichle performance etc." false. again someone is going to get this done and be in an acident when their truck does perform as it did in the past. i now drive this like its a gutless wonder but somone else might not be as lucky. i reported this to chrystler and had it in the the dealer and was told it was "working as intended". dangerous.

When depressing the accelerator pedal from a dead stop the vehicle has an extremely slow response time. after a few seconds the vehicle lurches forward and accelerates. this was not an issue until after the emissions recall was conducted on the vehicle. this is a clear safety issue as the vehicle will not accelerate properly with the engine coolant under 150 degrees f. after the temp reaches 150 degrees f the issue seems to subside and go away.

After having the approved emissions modification installed my truck became dangerously sluggish from a dead stop. after pressing accelerator pedal pulling into traffic truck is moving approx. 4 mph where there is a 3 to 4 second delay in acceleration leaving me vulnerable to oncoming traffic. truck was fine before aem. dealer now says they can not reverse aem. truck is now a serious traffic hazard.

Aem reflash as required by the fca emissions recall #v08 has caused the truck to accelerate very slowly, causing numerous near misses when crossing and turning past oncoming traffic. dealership reports all recalled customers are reporting the same issues.

Since the approved firmware modification per mdl no. 2777 (n.d. cal.) the vehicle has extreme delay in acceleration. multiple times this lag has slowed me in the path of moving traffic and is a safety concern. i do not pull into traffic unsafely but the lack of throttle response has created an unsafe vehicle. it is not predictable and almost seems to cut throttle at random times.often once the vehicle does respond after the delay it causes wheel spin also creating a hazardous potential in adverse weather

After receiving the emissions recall update v08 on my ram ecodiesel it now has a lag when pressing the gas pedal that has nearly resulted in me being hit by other drivers because the truck will not accelerate properly. this is most noticeable when at a stop and making a left hand turn.

After aem emission control systems update the truck at 57,920 has poor acceleration from a start. it doesn't get out of its on way. mileage dropped 4 mpg. has poor acceleration up hills. this update claimed to not alter the way the vehicle drives and that is not the case. this is not the truck that i originally bought. i have been almost hit several times pulling out into traffic because of the poor acceleration from a stop "turbo lag" this is a safety hazard.

After an emissions update was made to my vehicle without my permission on june 4, 2019, the throttle is unresponsive, the diesel exhaust regenertion system no longer functions and my fue economy has dropped over 10 mpg. it is out-of-service and undriveable. it has been at the dealership 4 times over the last 4 months, and has been there since august 1, 2019. i am being told there is no fix.

Since getting the ram eco diesel mandatory recall / re flash. i have experienced a "dead pedal." it's not as bad in warmer weather but now we are starting to experience colder mornings and winter is right around the corner. the drive-ability of the vehicle is unsafe and unsettling. i am worried about my family now.

After having the emission recall competed on my 2016 ram 1500 ecodiesel i am experiencing major power loss in certain operating conditions. this condition includes reduced throttle response when accelerating from a stop after cold starting. i will start my truck and drive 2 block to a 50 mph highway. after stopping at the stop sign i will accelerate across the lanes of the highway. since this recall there is significant lag in the throttle leading to traffic having to slow down because i'm not accelerating. i can push the throttle to the floor and there is very little rpm increase. i'm basically idling forward into 50 mph traffic without being able to accelerate. i have taken my truck to two different dealers and after consulting with fca they have come back and told me this is the new normal for my truck. the second dealer has even stated they are able to recreate the issue and after submitting their findings to fca they were told to inform me that this is normal. this limited throttle response is especially concerning given the speed of the road i live off of and the fact that fca considers this normal. this issue happens after every cold start and there is a larger lag if the air conditioner is on. this throttle lag only started occurring after the recall was performed on 5/30/2019 and had occurred regularly since.

Received a recall to install aem computer update. since the update i have been experiencing acceleration delays from a stop there is a 3-5 sec delay in acceleration. this is a safety hazard trying to merge i had to pull to the side of the road a # of times to avoid a rear end accident. in addition my gas mileage has also been decreased from an average of 18-20 mpg down to 14-16 mpg. this problem after the aem update must be correct quickly as driving the vehicle has become dangerous.

Eco diesel emissions update, upon having my truck ecm flashed with the court settlement emission update, i have observed severe power loss. to the point of 4-5 seconds of delay when initially pulling out in to traffic on any road or highway. very sluggish and has almost caused me to have an accident . this started immediately after the update . my truck drove fine before the update.

Around 2-3 thousand rpm my 2016 dodge ram 1500 tradesman with 23,000 miles get this horrible vibration that seems to originate from the transmission area of the vehicle. this vibration feels like it could be the driveshaft or transmission. doesn't matter how fast i'm going, as soon as i let off the gas and the truck begins to downshift i start feeling the vibration once i press the gas to accelerate again it's feels like the whole bottom of the truck is vibrating brought the gas pedal as if i'm riding on a rumble strip. i literally have to almost floor it for the vibration to go away.

Tl* the contact owns a 2016 ram 1500. the contact stated while driving about 25 mph the vehicle failed to respond when the accelerator pedal was depressed. the check engine warning light illuminated intermittently. the local dealer larry h. miller chrysler jeep dodge ram was contacted about the failure. the vehicle was taken to larry h. miller chrysler jeep dodge ram boise 222 s auto dr, boise, id 83709 boise, id but was not repaired. the vehicle was also taken to stevens creek dodge ram 4100 stevens creek blvd, san jose, ca 95129, where it was repaired under nhtsa campaign number: 19v757000 (engine and engine cooling). the approximate failure mileage 68,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2016 ram 1500. while pulling out of the driveway at 2 mph, the check engine warning indicator illuminated and the message center displayed "service throttle body". the vehicle lost acceleration and power. the vehicle was taken to tacoma dodge chrysler jeep ram (4101 s tacoma way, tacoma, wa 98409), but they could not determine the cause of the failure. the contact stated that once the failure code was erased, the failure went away. the contact also stated that this was the sixth time the vehicle was brought to the dealer for the same failure since april of 2018. the manufacturer was notified of the failures and provided case number: s171800032. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 46,000. *dt updated 12/20/18*jb

When accelerating rapidly (a heavy foot on the gas pedal) the vehicle often remains in acceleration mode once the pedal is released, and the vehicle continues to increase its velocity. braking does not fix this issue. twice now i've had to switch the truck to neutral, and let the computer figure out i didn't want the gas pedal anymore. this was a result of merging onto a freeway, and passing another vehicle.

I keep having problems with the electrical system in the truck. the plugin areas for electronic devices in the rear passenger keeps burning out fuses. i am also having issues with my cruise control button on the steering wheel acting like it has a short turning itself on and off. this happens when i am driving the vehicle or in the drive way as well.

Tl* the contact owns a 2016 ram 1500. while driving 70 mph, the service electronic control indicator illuminated and the vehicle would inadvertently decelerate. the contact pulled over to the side of the road, turned off and restarted the engine; however, the failure recurred. the vehicle was taken to a dealer (tate dodge chrysler jeep, 7429 ritchie hwy, glen burnie, md 21061, (410) 690- 3901) where it was diagnosed that the throttle body and ecu/computer needed to be flushed and reprogrammed. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the warranty had expired. the failure mileage was 65,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2016 ram 1500. while driving various speeds, the brake pedal became difficult to depress when attempting to stop the vehicle. the contact had to apply excessive force to the brake pedal to bring the vehicle to a complete stop. the electronic stability control warning indicator and the brake light remained illuminated. when the contact coasted the vehicle to the side of the road, powered off the engine, and restarted the vehicle, he was able to drive; however, the vehicle failed to accelerate. the vehicle was taken to mcpeek's chrysler dodge jeep ram of anaheim (1221 s auto center dr., anaheim, ca 92806, (714) 635-2340), but no failures were found. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 78,000.

My truck has just at 36,000 miles and is a 2016. at around 34,000 the cruise control has not been working properly. the on/off button doesn't always work. it doesn't seem to matter if the truck is moving or stationary. it decides when it wants to turn on or not. may go days without working, may work fine one day, and then not work again for days. it is going to the dealer today - it now has 35,966. i would hope it would be covered under the 36,000 mile warranty, but more to come. i first noticed this around april 23, 2018 when i started my new job and now drive 40 miles back and forth to work.

I have been having electrical issues with this vehicle from the beginning. it has been back to the dealership 6 times for more then a day each time. they continue to tell me its fixed, change sensors, mirrors, seats etc. this last time was dangerous, the vehicle accelerated to 40mph with my foot off the gas and while in park it redlined, revving the engine until i shut it off. this is the 7th time now its at the dealership. it has been there for 3 days now and they can not tell me anything. i feel as though i am getting no help with this situation.

Tl* the contact owns a 2016 ram 1500. while the driver was making a left turn into a parking lot, the vehicle accelerated independently without warning, the contact depressed the brake pedal, but the vehicle failed to stop. as a result, the driver crashed into a parked vehicle. the air bags failed to deploy. in addition, the driver had to remove the key from the ignition switch in order for the vehicle to stop. there were no injuries and a police report was filed. the vehicle was towed to parkway chrysler (located at 21560 hall rd, clinton township, mi 48038). the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not contacted. the approximate failure mileage was 13,000. ...updated 11/15/17 *bf updated 11/28/2017*js *tt
