Dodge ram steering recall alert- this same situation happened to me in my model 2014 dodge ram 1500 big horn. recall needs to be extended the nut holding the steering knuckle and right control arm separated while driving. i felt a huge pop and jerk of the steering wheel. luckily i was traveling at a low rate of speed. i took to suncoast dodge dealer immediately, he said i was lucky i could if i was on the freeway which i was shortly before. he said he has never seen a nut fall off before, but it did and, could rolled and caused serious accident. i was charged for repair and picked up truck today 2/5 then saw recall for this exact situation released today by chrysler fiat, but my vehicle was not included.

8/18/18 at about 1:15 pm while traveling south on us 220 in the left lane in the city of williamsport pa during a cloudy but dry day at 55 mph, the right front tire blew out for no apparent reason which disabled my vehicle and did approximately $4500 damage. fortunately, there were no injuries. the tire was a goodyear wrangler sr-a size 275-60-20. the tire was approximately 1 year old with 8/32 tread remaining at time of the blow out. i did not hit anything to cause the blowout. after the blow out, i pulled over the left side of the highway in the median to inspect the damage. i then limped the truck back to the right side of the road and into the grass to get to a safe location for me and my family. at that point, i proceeded to remove the tire and install the spare at which point it then started raining. i believe the safety risk was the goodyear tire. the tire has been sent to goodyear to examine. they stated there was no factory defect, however, they refused to send me a copy of their report despite numerous requests. i still have the tire in my possession. goodyear also refused to provide any kind of warranty coverage despite the fact the blow out occurred within the warranty period and mileage. i do have a dash cam video of the blow out however it is in .mov format i was not able to upload it - i can provide a cd upon request. more information is available than what i was able to provide in this complaint.

When i took my truck in for routine maintenance service and tire rotation, i was told that all 4 goodyear wrangler sr-a dot m5ynjb1r0314 need to be replaced and they were not rotated because of tiny cracks in the sidewalls all the way around each tire. the tread is still like new and only 13,158 miles. these tires were on my new truck when i purchased it. just to compare: my 2005 ram still had the original tires on it with only slight wear on tread when i traded it in 9 years later.

Truck when placed in park has rolled away from me into the roadway on more then5 occasions. truck was parked and the parking break was in-gauged t, keys where not in the vehicle and this occurred more then 5 minutes after the truck was parked.

Was driving my 2014 ram truck down the on ramp to rt 104 when the rear tire exploded. it was a goodyear wrangler p275 / 60r20 with approx 20k miles on them.always rotated on each oil change. lucky i was not up to speed when it blew. i have enclosed a picture which shows the damage around the outer side wall from the explosion.

Front rotors warped at 39,000.front wheel bearings changed at 44,000.

I believe our truck should be part of most of the recalls listed fo ram trucks. our tires are wearing on the outside, they won't fix. the transmission was replaced at twenty some thousands miles, and my wife being the primary driver said that when you come to a complete stop the truck sometimes jumps forward. the rear differential seal was replaced. i'm afraid that we might lose our wheels on the road. there is also a chemical smell coming from the engine that everyone can smell but the dealer. currently working with chrysler and been driving a rental for almost a month.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ram 1500. while driving various speeds, the wheels began to wobble and the vehicle began to sway on the road. the contact stated that the vehicle was not able to be driven following the failure. the traction bar fractured. the vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. the approximate failure mileage was 47,000.

2014 ram 1500 driving at 48 mph, tire has a catastrophic blowout. the tire blew from one side to the other in a straight line. good thing this was on a two lane road and not on a interstate at 75 to 8o mph here in texas is allowed. if this happened on a interstate i would not be here to write this. now i have check with my tire dealer, he said this is not the first one he has seen. he sent this tire to goodyear.then i googled this and more showed up.i think goodyear should recall these wrangler p275/60 r20 sa and any other that this has happen to. maybe ram should go to some other tire for their reputation. i hope no one has been killed because of this tire failure. picture included.

I purchased a 2014 dodge ram 1500 and it has approximately 22000 miles i've had 3 flat tires within the last 6 months all four tires have little tread left and wondering if there is any other complaints or recalls on these tires the goodyear wranglers sra.

I was driving along on route 220 near lock haven pa in which they are doing construction there is uneven payment pot holes etc i was doing 45 mph at the time due to construction zone when i hit a pot hole i heard a loud pop noise so i immediately pulled over looked at my truck didn't see anything so i continued driving apon arriving at my home ten mile up the road i noticed steering was funny once in my driveway i looked over my truck again to my surprise i found a crack on the knuckle at the upper ball joint the knuckle had cracked right at the upper ball joint on the casting seam i called dealership and they said they haven't heard of such a thing after hrs of arguing with them to fix it i had it towed to the dealership where they had the truck for a week and told me it wasn't covered under warranty keep in mind i only had the truck for 2-3 months and it should of been covered i know dodge has had issues in the past with suspension problems and i find it a great concern as this could of caused a serious crash very disappointed with dodge at this point i'd rather not even keep the truck as i feel it's not very safe

While driving the vehicle home from, after hitting the speed limit of 65, the vehicle started to shimmy, side to side, and continued at a higher speed. i called the dealer, and returned the truck to have it serviced, but it did not help. i was told it was flat spots on the tires, and to give it some time. after almost 4000 miles, and 4 visits back for service, i was told there was nothing they could do. all the trucks ride the same. after further investigation, i found out through various forums, that a lot of people are having the same problem, and if the tires are changed out, the problem will go away. the dealer refused to change out the tires. the tires in question are goodyear wrangler sr-a, size p275/60r20.

I bought a new dodge 2014 1500 and looked under my truck for the first time and discovered it came with a used 17 inch spare tire i think it is very unsafe to replace a new 20 inch tire with a used 17 inch ...updated 05/14/15 *bf

2014 dodge ram 1500 factory goodyear tires blow out during interstate driving in hershey pa model oem goodyear wrangler 275/60r20 i was getting into i-83 at speed of 45mph when i heard a sound. and just down the road in i-83 when i was at speed of 60mph the tire sensor came up showing psi <17. these tires were rotated around 5k miles and nitrogen gas used. if i was driving at the speed of the traffic (>70mph) when the tire blow out took place it would have caused a major road accident. after it was taken for repair it showed a lateral blow out of the tire. *tr

This post is related to nhtsa id #10585728. i also have the same issue. i have 20 inch wheels/tires but the spare is 17 inches. i called the dealer where i bought this truck and they said that is the way they come from the manufacturing plant. i was told that the 17 inch wheel was the same height as the 20 inch wheel so it was ok. i was also told that they do not advise people to drive more than 50 miles on the 17 inch spare. *tr

I recently purchased a 2014 dodge ram 1500 4x4 truck that came equipped from the factory with 20 inch wheels. i have discovered that the spare is a factory 17 inch full sized wheel. i was advised by my local tire dealer that it would be highly dangerous to travel any distance with the a spare that differentiated that much in diameter and could infact cause damage to the vehicle which probably would not be covered by the factory warranty. when i inquired at the ram national customer center i basically got the run around. they did however give me a case number [xxx] their phone number is 866-726-4636. i believe this could cause a situation that could result in injury to an unsuspecting purchaser that was not aware of the wheel size difference and drove unkowiningly a great distance with the spare provided by the factory. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6) *js
