While waiting at a stop light and then stepping on the accelerator the ram went into limp mode and did not go past 15 mph. the ram did not turn on any light to notify me of an issue. i had to forcefully take it out of limp mode therefore risking the transmission to get damaged. there was a big truck behind me making a left who thankfully noticed the ram stopped working and patiently waited for me to move out of the way. i turned it off and turned it back on and it started working again. seems like a recall issue on rams as i have been reading this has happened to hundreds of people.
Had aem flash caused 10-15% mpg loss as well as throttle lag, loss of acceleration fca said there would be no change in performance or mpg
The truck has an exaust leak. it's on the passenger side manifold. the bolt broke for some reason and is a big common issue in these trucks. there needs to be a recall because the bolts used wasnt strong enough to with stand pressure and corrosion. my cruise control also no longer works like it should. it will go into cruise control very rarely and when it does it's hard to get it out. i have to shut the truck off most of the time to get it out of cruise control mode. the lights that luminate the press buttons in the steering wheel flicker randomly. so it tells me it must be a wiring issue of some sort. i've contacted a dodge dealer ship and they are aware of the problem but they refuse to fix it as they say it's normal wear and tear. i'm afraid with the exaust leak the extra heat in the engine bay may result in melted wires or even worse a fire. thank you for reviewing this problem.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ram 1500. while driving approximately 60 mph and attempting to pass another vehicle in the next lane, the contact depressed the accelerator pedal. the pedal traveled to the floorboard and did not release, causing the vehicle's speed to increase to approximately 80 mph. the contact depressed the brake pedal in attempt to slow down the vehicle; however, it failed to slow down until the contact deactivated the cruise control and depressed the brake pedal. the contact pulled the vehicle over to the side of the road, placed the gear in park, and turned off the vehicle. the brake and electronic throttle failure warning indicators illuminated. the contact took the vehicle to suburban chrysler dodge jeep ram of troy (located at 1790 maplelawn dr, troy, mi 48084, 248-585-8800) where it was diagnosed that the throttle body failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failures and provided case number: [xxx]. the approximate failure mileage was 72,500. *bf *tp 'parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).'

After having the aem update completed, i lost 5mpg in fuel economy (from 23 mpg combined, to 18 mpg combined), i also am experiencing an incredibly unsafe amount of acceleration lag (4-6 seconds). when pulling into traffic travelling at 40+mph, this lag in acceleration causes me to roll into traffic with no power or ability to accelerate until the engine decides to kick in.this lag in acceleration is the biggest concern as the duration of lag is inconsistent and unpredictable. i do not feel safe in this vehicle and am not confident in it's performance anymore. i, like many other owners would like to get rid of this truck. i think fca should take bake the truck becuase it has become a financial/safety nightmare. as of january 2019, i have spent over $7000 on the exhaust system prior to the aem update coming out (egr cooler clogged, turbo hoses bad, etc.) luckliy, i just had the egr cooler replaced under the new warranty but the drivability (good fuel economy and power) is no longer present. if this truck functioned like this when i first test drove it, i would never have bought it.
On 06/12/2019, i had the v08 recall (aem modification update) done on my 2014 ram 1500 ecodiesel. this recall was required as part of an emissions related lawsuit. fca advised that the updated software is not expected to change any of the vehicles attributes to include vehicle performance, driveability, and fuel economy. after having the recall work done, i have noticed a serious concern regarding the acceleration of the vehicle from a stop (especially when the engine is cold or not fully warmed up). when accelerating from a stop, there is a delay in the acceleration which i can best describe as feeling like "severe turbo lag." when trying to cross a busy intersection or trying to merge into traffic, if you try to accelerate quickly, the vehicle does not respond like it did prior to the recall work. after pushing the accelerator harder and getting through the lag in acceleration, the turbo finally kicks in and the vehicle accelerates quickly because you have to basically "floor it." i also noticed when driving up an incline and stopping at a stop sign, while continuing gradually up the incline the vehicle does not respond to light/gradual pressing of the accelerator. pressing the accelerator harder causes the turbo to kick in and the vehicle to downshift which causes the vehicle to accelerate quickly . on 06/26/2019, the dealership tested it and test drove it for 12 miles and noting that they "did not experience anything abnormal when compared to like vehicles" and "vehicle performing as designed." my wife and i continued to notice the same issues and i contacted fca again. they said they would document it and said that i could take it to the dealer again. i told them that i was not going to waste my time and reiterated that this issue was clearly a result of the update. fca closed my complaint.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ram 1500. while driving approximately 60 mph, the cruse control did not engage. on other occasions, the cruise control did not deactivate. the failures occurred for approximately one month. the vehicle was taken to baxter jeep/ram/chrysler (7713 s 19th street, belleview, ne 68147) where it was diagnosed that the harness for the steering column was shorting out and needed replacement. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 45,000.
In may i brought my truck into my local ram dealership for a mandatory recall for the ecodiesel engine system as part of a class action lawsuit settlement with the epa. the truck received batch of new software that significantly damaged its ability to accelerate safely from a stop. there is currently a 2-4 second delay between my pressing the gas pedal, and receiving a response from the engine. this has led to near misses, as the delay isn't always predictable. it is worse starting from a stop heading uphill. this delay is wholly a part of the recall installed on my vehicle in may. it had not experienced this type of delay prior to the service. the vehicle also suffers from delayed response while moving, but this is a second or two, and can be predicted and accounted for. the delay from start is abysmal, and unsafe. my life, and the lives of my family members, have been placed at risk due to fca's inability to meet emission requirements without compromising the safe operation of my vehicle. to add insult to injury, dealers know about the issues, and the ecodiesels are bringing extremely low trade-in value. i would not have bought this truck in the first place if it drove the way it is today.
Acceleration/ cruise control issue: i had the vehicle's cruise control engaged at the posted speed limit (70 mph) on the interstate. i accelerated to avoid a bottleneck in an area where 3 lanes merged into two. when i lifted my foot off the gas pedal, the vehicle continued to accelerate. i pumped the brake several times to reduce the speed, but i could not resume acceleration because the gas pedal locked to the floor. i placed the vehicle in neutral and coasted to the shoulder. i turned the vehicle off, manually lifted the pedal and turned the vehicle back on. a display message stated: service electronic throttle control; but the vehicle seemed to operate fine. i had this event happen two more times. once was in a similar scenario, the other i replicated it on my own. i contacted the ram customer assistance center, they advised that i take it to the dealer for a diagnosis. if it is due to a recall it will be fixed for free, otherwise the diagnosis costs and repair will be on me. my concern is that i had several recalls fixed on november 23, 2018. this issue had never happened in the past until it was serviced for those recalls. i had an individual at autozone attempt to download the trouble codes; no codes were found. i've read forums online about similar issues, but dealer(s) were not able to find the cause during diagnosis. the vehicle only has 33,000 miles.
Cruise control does not turn on when depressed and when it does the cancel switch does not disengage. told the sccm and speed control switch is rusting and there is s high voltage resistance issue between the two connections. also that this could deploy the air bag without a collision
. my pick-up averaged 24 per gallon between local and expressway driving. expressway driving only (for example, to niagara falls in 2015) averaged 27 miles per gallon. following replacement of spark plugs and oil change and 2 factory recalls my pick-up lost power and could barely do 20 miles per gallon. the engine became very loud. the longer i drove it, the less mileage i got -- the engine also began howling/whistling as i tried to increase speed. in order to maintain speed, i had to constantly press my foot to excelerate, even going down inclines. i had to continuously bring my pick-up back to the dealership in st. charles, illinois because various systems began to fail -- safety breaks, fuel related black box, dashboard panel signals , etc. i expressed concern about the stress on my transmission and engine. eventually, by process of elimimation, service department revisited the 2 recalls -- one of which was the cruise control recall. when i brought it in again, they found 6 leaks located on the top of the engine. anything above 50-55 mph is difficult. i feel that the transmission does not change gears in a timely fashion, and sometimes not at all. the rpm is very high and the engine remains in exceration mode either too long or, at higher speeds, never kicks in
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ram 1500. while driving 70 mph, the engine revved and the entire instrument panel illuminated. also, the vehicle accelerated uncontrollably and then decreased with a knocking noise present. furthermore, when the brake pedal was depressed, the engine continued to rev. the vehicle was serviced at texas dodge (7800 i-40 frontage rd, amarillo, tx 79106, (806) 353-6343) per nhtsa campaign number: 18v332000 (electrical system, vehicle speed control), but the remedy failed to repair the failures. the contact stated that the vehicle was taken back to the same dealer and the software was updated again, but the cause of the failures could not be determined. the manufacturer was made aware of the failures. the failure mileage was 127,000. *dt*jb
Long crank times before starting starved of fuel like it is out am told it will cost around $1000 to fix it timp .a relay for the fuel pump.also have issue with cruise already replaced it only 60000 miles on the vehicle.
When accelerating around slower car my accelerator stuck and continued to accelerate until i turned off engine.
My truck keeps rolling forward or backwards when put into park, also my cruise dont shut off or turn on half the time.
On february i drove from my home several miles to a fast food restaurant taking an interstate on the way. i used my cruise control on my way there and just pressed the brake to disengage it when i exited the interstate. i then continued to the drive to the restaurant where i pulled into a line to the drive through window as i moved through the line i would apply my brake to stop and as cars pulled forward i just let my foot off the brake to slowly move forward then pressed the brake again to stop. i did this several times then suddenly when i took my foot off the brake my truck suddenly accelerated and ran into the car in front of me before i could stop it. the driver of the other vehicle and i were not injured and drove to the parking lot to exchange insurance information. since the time of the accident i recently checked for recalls om my truck and found one related to the cruise control nhtsa # 18v-332 which could be related to my accident. i have recently had the recall service done june 30, 2018 at my local dodge dealer.
I have been to ram dealers in las vegas several times in the past 16 months to inquire about the shift interlock system recall and they always tell me that the part for replacement is not available at this time and they will call me when they get the part . 2. i haven't been called or mailed a link recall notice for the cruise control system recall. i have also had my truck in the shop for air bag sensors failure messages. most recently february 2018 and the messages keep repeating. i have been told that they have replaced the seat sensors and wiring harnesses several times the last time they had my truck for 4 days without furnishing a loan or rental car. i'm a 100% disabled veteran and use a wheelchair this is my only vehicle with a wheelchair lift installed to load, unload and transport my wheelchair what are my options?
Driver heading down hill used the + and - indicators to manually put the transmission into 3rd gear. going approximately 60/70 mph heard the transmission slip into 2nd gear and the rpm's began to increase. the vehicle continued to accelerate through the manual breaking of the driver. the driver took the next exit placing the vehicle into neutral when a transmission sensor flashed. still with no gas the engine continued to accelerate. the driver who was able to place the vehicle into park off the exit turned the vehicle off and when turning back on engine continued throttle as if in full acceleration. vehicle was turned off and towed to vista autogroup in silverthorne, co. vehicle was repaired finding a faulty acceleration pedal sensor.
Driving down highway came upon another vehicle doing 40mph decide to pass this driver. as i passed the driver at about 60mph when i let up on the gas pedal it went to the floor on its own and excelerated to 95 mph i was on the brake to try and slow the vehicle and after about 5-10 seconds the gas pedal returned to the normal position and vehicle then slowed down. a light illuminated on the dash and according to the user guide the light is the electronic throttle control light. in the description of the problem it states that "you may experience reduced performance, an elevated/rough idle" it seems that ram already knows of this problem with the elevated idle the book just doesnt state that the elevated idle can increase when the vehicle is being driven or in drive
Cruise control functionalities is not working with 100 percent consistencies. when the cruise control is set active, it cannot be deactivated or cancel, the only way to disengage the active cruise control is by stepping on the brake to cancel or deactivate the cruise control. i believe this is a safety concern what if the cruise control can not be disengage.

My trucks 'service electronic throttle control' light (lightning bolt) comes on both when starting my vehicle and when driving my vehicle. when it comes on when i try to start the truck, it wont change out of the gear it is in (ie i cant go faster than 15-18mph). it sometimes goes off if i turn the engine on and off multiple times. the more dangerous timing of it is when the light comes on while i'm driving.this either causes me to downshift into a lower gear which throws me forward and revs the engine in excess of 3000rpm, or while i am stopped, the rpms climb without any foot on the accelerator. if i take my foot off the brake while this happens, i accelerate forward either up to 18mph or 30mph depending which gear it is 'stuck' in. i have taken it to one local ram dealer 6 times reporting the same issue. the did flash updates, replaced accelerator pedal sensor, brake sensor, repaired connector for the accelerator pedal sensor, and replaced throttle body (all of which at the time, they said each individual component was the root of the problem). i have taken it to another local ram dealer, and they attempted to fix it with 4 and a half hours of diagnostic time. they replaced the throttle body and replaced a cable/connector and low and behold, the problem still exists. this is very dangerous for so, so many reasons. i note that not only the check engine light have come on, but the traction control light, abs light, service 4wd light, ! temp light, check brake light, and of course the service electronic throttle control light.

Engine light came on along with the service electronic throttle control indicator. truck would not shift out of 1st gear; 3000 rpms, will not go over 25/30 mph. this was on vehicle start; can't drive it. it is in my garage. may need to be towed to service
At a red light engine ideal went from 800 rpm to 1500 rpm then back to 800 rpm.after green light started to drive then the electronic throttle light came on. uncontrolled acceleration of the truck happen could not shut the engine off or get the transmission out of drive had to brake very hard and apply parking brake to stop the truck. had the warning light for electric throttle on the panel finally the light went out and the throttle respond normally. headed home when the same happen again with same results nearly had a accident from this. then the light went out with temporary lost of brakes and control of the truck.then the throttle responded normally until i got home and but the truck into park the warning light came on engine rpm accelerated to 2500 rpm until i could turn the engine off.
On way home gas pedal stuck 3 times, had to stand on brakes move to shoulder, and put into park , engine rev high and turn off.very dangerous almost had a collison, 3rd time all dash lights came on brake warning lights came on.
Vehicle does not accelerate properly. while attempting to merge onto the interstate my check engine light came on and as i pushed the gas pedal down to get up to speed to merge into traffic the engine revved very fast but the truck began to slow down. i had to pull off the highway after almost getting rear ended and let the engine idle down and nurse the accelerator to get the truck up to speed and back on highway. if gas pedal is depressed hard or quickly it seems engine power is not going to the transmission. this is the second time this has happened to me in this vehicle. the first time the problem went away on its own before i had time to get it diagnosed. this is a very dangerous problem and hopefully it will be corrected before someone is hurt or killed as i have found many others online with dodge ram trucks having the same problem. if accelerator is pushed slowly and partially the truck will pick up speed.

I have owned this truck for a month and a half and now it is slamming into gear between 2nd and 3rd gear. at 30 mph. and then it downshifts very hard when slowing! this is a nightmare. it is also vibrating on the highway and it feels like something is going on with the front end. i am bringing it back to the dealer but im sure i will get the same answer as everyone else. that there is no solution for this problem but they know about it. there is a thread for this issue. this truck was not cheap and i had a 93 ford that didn't do this stuff. this is not right and the more i read online this is a ongoing issue and the dealership can not fix it. so are we just suppose to drive around these 30k plus trucks with this issue. the more i look into it this is only one of the issues but i wanted to list my complaint and will also do so to anyone who will listen. wish i never bought this truck!!!!! they need to come up with a solution because this is unacceptable.

Hi, (to chrysler) the facts: 1.- my truck suffer of a delay when you try to start moving, from the moment that you press the gas pedal and the moment that the truck respond and start moving. i can say is about 1 to 2 seconds delay 2.- the delay caused this week to be almost rolled over for incoming traffic. when you are at the very congested intersection and you need to get in to the incoming traffic fast this is not possible with this truck 3.- the truck does not change gears when it is lacking of power, you can press the gas pedal for about one inch an it does not do anything. 4.- again when you need to change lanes or you need to advance in a hill it does not happen. when you press the pedal you need to go all the way down for the truck to respond and when it happens it changes to a lower gear in such way that instead of having acceleration it is decelerating instead. 5.- when you need to start moving the truck slowly to approach some hing it will not do that it will jump and at that point you are close to crash it on the thing that you are approaching 6.-i gave you 2 months trying to become more familiar with the truck behavior, but what i found is that i can manually change the gears and make the truck to respond as a normal vehicle, changing gears gradually when it is losing power if i can make the truck to change gears with out jumping 4 gears down why your computer is not capable of do it? i believe that is unacceptable. i pretty sure that the truck can have computer issues, or the gas pedal transmitter or the gas actuator have issues, or the computer program is not working as a planned, or transmission issues i need your help solving these issues thank you very much

We were driving our new truck (only 13 days old) and came up behind a car going 25mph in a 50mph zone. we slowly accelerated the truck to pass the vehicle. during this acceleration, we saw large amounts of white smoke coming from both tailpipes. then a brief single chime started from the instrument panel. because it was a new truck we didn't know what was happening and there was no safe place to pull over. we continued up the road and the chiming increased in frequency and white smoke began to come into the cab and from under the hood. we came to side road and immediately pulled over. we got out and the white smoke continued to bellow from under hood. after truck was turned off, the smoke slowly subsided. we towed the truck back to the dealer on a flatbed. *tr
