Tail gate does not lock properly. it will open, drop and fall by itself after takeoff. this may cause cargo to fall out of vehcile while in motion. repeated manual and remote locking takes several tries o get it to lock, but it is not a guarantee it will stay locked. it has a locking mechanism failure. this happens often after tailgate is opened and used.

Tailgate falls for no reason and when i try to put it back up it won't latch. it takes multiple tries to get it to do so. i have to manually lock it once i do get it latched. this happens constantly. it's rather dangerous not only for the risk of cargo falling out but for me having to stop along the interstate and fight with it while cars are flying by me at 65+mph. it's happened numerous times but i will put the most recent date below. dealer says it's because of some 'module' and i have to pay $267 to have it fixed. seems like it's a defect and dodge should be covering the cost, the truck is only 5 years old for god's sake.

While driving the tailgate will open without warning. it has done this on several occasions over the last 3 months.. i have had items fall out one time onto the roadway luckily there was no accidents only some item damage.i contacted the local chrysler dodge ram dealer they said it sounds like the latch is failing. they said there was a recall for 2015 thru 2018 rams for the problem i am describing. they said i would probably have to replace the latch to fix the problem. if there was a problems with later years than mine i would guess there is a problem with the 2013's.

Paint bubbling on passenger side below radio antenna, noticed right at the end of the 5 year warranty period. however, no rust at that time, but now paint is starting to fracture and rust will be evident in the near future. feel this is a defect due to a couple possible reasons. first, there could be a defect in the seal around the antenna that let in moisture which eventually caused a breakdown of the body from the inside out. second, there is sound deadening foam that trapped moisture causing the breakdown of the body from the inside out.

,when the automatic locks engage for the doors and tailgate after reaching a certain speed, t unknown times and without warning the tailgate will disengage and open. it happens every couple of days, depending on how often i use the truck. luckily no one has been behind me and so far the tailgate cables have held up. i made an appointment with a local ram dealer to have it looked at and the service person stated they've had a couple come in like that. i saw where ram is recalling the 2015-2017 trucks and feel this should be looked further back.

The tail gate falls open while going down the road when it is not locked. the tail gate was replaced due to an accident about a year ago and it has not latched closed properly.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ram 1500. while operating the vehicle, the tailgate would unlatch and fall down. the failure was not diagnosed or repaired. the local dealer (milton ruben chrysler dodge jeep ram, 3508 washington rd, augusta, ga) and the manufacturer were notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. the failure mileage was 50,000. *tt*jb

I bought vehicle new in 2013 and the paint is bubbling on hood ( rusting ) and it also failed emission test when i went to get inspection sticker, i don't believe i'm asking to much that a vehicle 3 years old not rust and pass an emissions test.

2013 dodge ram 1500. consumer writes in regards to vehicle engine can start without remote ignition key fob. *smd the consumer stated when the key fob was in his pocket, the slightest movement of his leg, or bending over, would cause the engine to start. the consumer stated it was very dangerous, as carbon monoxide entered the garage/house. *jb

2013 ram 1500 with 26,500 miles on it, had flat tire and for the first time ever tried to release the spare tire. the mechanism would not release, had to crawl under the jacked up vehicle and manually turn the mechanism to release spare. took vehicle to ram dealership where they stated the mechanism was stripped and was not under warranty. the vehicle is still under the 3 year, 36,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty and they are stated that this is not a defect it is from misuse. the release had never been used prior to this incident and failed. they were willing to fix it for a large fee, but not under warranty. contacted chrysler and was told that they have to back the dealership on this and that the repair cannot be made under warranty. poor customer service and poor customer satisfaction and complete disregard to customer safety. having to crawl under a vehicle beside the road with only a factory jack to release the spare tire is a major hazard.

Takata recall: i was recently involved in an accident in which my driver side air bag did not deploy when it should have. there was so much impact that the passenger side front and rear curtain air bags deployed on the other vehicle involved in the accident. i was stopped at a stop sign preparing to cross a very busy intersection. once i determined it was clear i began to roll away from the stop sign when suddenly a south bound car entered the intersection without it's lights on and collided with the front driver's side of my vehicle. at the point of impact, the south bound car was traveling at least 45 mph and my vehicle had merely rolled away from the stop sign and i slammed on my breaks just prior to impact. i was not traveling more than 5 mph when the vehicles collided. once both vehicles had come to a complete stop i realized i had struck the back of my head on the driver's side window extremely hard but no air bag deployment had taken place. there was so much force in the impact that the frame on my vehicle was bent. the other driver was cited in the accident any my vehicle sustained $16,000 in damage. i am extremely frustrated that the side curtain air bags did not deploy and now i'm facing the fact that i will have to continue to drive a repaired vehicle that may or may not provide me with all the safety that i demand moving forward. i respectfully ask for your assistance in helping me hold the manufacturer liable for my situation and rectifying the situation. had i rolled into the intersection any farther than i did, i may not be alive to file this complaint.

I rear ended a semi that was parked on the side of the road. i was going approximately 51 miles per hour. no airbag's deployed, but the front of my vehicle was destroyed.

My husband hydro planned on a 3 line highway. trucked flipped multiple times. husband needed medical attention. no air bags deployed even when having side airbags. my concern is that this vehicle had faulty side airbags and if they had deployed would have protected his head more.

While traveling on a paved road at about 25-30 mph, right front tire blew out. the tire was separated from inside bead all across top of tread to outside bead. tire blowing out caused damage to fender. no evidence that the tire struck anything in the road, initial report from a goodyear rep said that the tire just separated. nothing was found in the road or vicinity to indicate that the tire struck anything

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 dodge ram 1500. the contact stated that the cab mounts became loose on the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where the bushings were tightened but the failure recurred. the vin was not available. the failure mileage was 40,000.

I accidentally rolled into a cyclone fence. i knew i couldn't have done damage at such a low speed. but i did check the fence and no damage. when i checked my vehicle there was a dent in the fascia from the fence wire. this is when i noticed the bumper was flush with the fascia front and sides. what good is a bumper that doesn't protect the body panels? this could be an expensive repair even at 5 mph, or a eye sore for a new expensive vehicle.

All 4 door hinges have excessive rust. chrysler refuses to correct the rust issue. rust will eventually cause complete deterioration of the door hinges. noticed this problem 3 mos after purchase of new ram, but dealership stated there was nothing they could do about it.

2013 dodge ram 1500. consumer writes in regards to vehicle remote cd changer. *smd the consumer stated the vehicle came equipped with a remote cd changer and arm rest with three cup holders. the consumer stated he has to go through several obstacles, in order to change the cd's.

this is an ongoing thing this happens every time i go somewhere every time the doors locked my arm skin gets caught in the lock when it goes to lock position it is the part where you say your arm on top of the doorwhile your arm is on the door it pinches your skin when the lock is turned on. *tr

Recently i was involved in a car accident with my 2013 dodge ram 1500. i was struct by a car at approximately 35 mph and hit directly on the drivers side,(t-boned) the truck is equipped with side air bags and front air bags, which never deployed. the accident brought extensive damages to the truck and injuries to my wife and i. i reported the non deployment to dodge in which case a special inspector was sent out to thomas dodge where he ran diagnostics of the airbags computer. no fault signals were found. dodge response to the investigation was ! impact was not sufficient to merit air bag deployment!. department of transportation safety says the bag is inflated at a certain crash threshold, usually corresponding to a speed of the impacting vehicle of more than 15-20 km/h. dodge refused to act on it so the question should be to myself, dodge ram owners and perspective buyers,,,will my airbags deploy when i need them to??? be ware.

Vehicle dashboard is beginning to break into pieces. this particular make and model has a history of the dashboard breaking completely apart, exposing every element of the dashboard that is designed to be covered. including some elements of the air bag system. it is not only a danger to have loose, sharp shards of plastic flying around in the passenger cabin, but it has completely destroyed the resale and marketability of the vehicle. dodge and or ram has a responsibility to the consumer to make good on the original investment made towards the purchase of this vehicle. . *tr
