Recently reported POWER TRAIN problems on 2001 Nissan Xterra

While driving, engine goes to idle mode and can't accelerate. i have to shift to neutral and back to drive to again drive normally, then problem happens again and have to do the same continuously every few miles while driving.

Recall 02v299000/axle corrosion. consumer has a concern that after having this recall repairs done, less then 29,000 miles later, while getting their tires replaced mechanic informed consumer that the seal around the axle broken consumer took the vehicle back to the dealer, who informed the consumer that any repairs would be at consumer's expense. *ak *tc

While driving 30-35 mph right rear axle and wheel disconnected from vehicle. vehicle at dealership at this time. *ak consumer states that the right rear axle and tie rod flew off causing the the consumer to be pulled to the shoulder of the road. the consumer had no brakes and the steering wheel locked up, the vehicle was thrown in park in order to stop. there was one injury. *scc

When consumer drives up a hill engine will stall. consumer has called dealer, and dealer has not called back yet.*ak transmission failed. the speedometer goes back and forth. check engine light comes on due to canister leak, dealer replaced canister and valve assembly. *yh

While driving at 55 mph on i-95 right rear wheel and axle flew of car, then, consumer had no brakes, and managed to get to side of road. consumer felt very lucky he was not killed. *ak
