We have classified the 115 complaints from 2010 Nissan Versa about AIR BAGS into the following categories.
My front left suspension coil just broke while driving over a sewer cover on a side street. the front left end of my car dropped a not and a metal piece of coil flew out from the bottom of my car which i recovered. i see this is an issue that had a recall, also never got the airbag recalled.

Nissan will not complete 2 recalls for my vehicle. spoke with two people from nissan consumer affairs who stated they can't make the dealership complete the 'campaigns'. i don't know who to contact at this point. please advise.
The steering wheel suddenly started turning all the way to the left on its own while i was driving straight about 50mph on the highway. the steering wheel locked in this position and was impossible to turn back to a neutral position. the car veered all the way to the right, causing me to spin several times before hitting the concrete barrier. the airbags did not deploy after hitting the concrete barrier. we always took my car for all necessary recalls, the last of which was on 6/12/2018 for airbags. the car was unable to change gears and was impounded by insurance. ## vin passed ## nissan versa 2010 hatchback ## *tt *dt *dt updated 10/11/18 consumer stated the vehicle was deemed unrepairable and we were paid out by insurance. i believe it was at an auction last i heard. updated 10/18/18*jb
My front passenger door was closed and my side airbags deployed. my 4 year old son was in his car seat in the back seat on the passenger side when the air bags deployed. my car was in drive but i was not moving, i was dropping a friend off at home. it was on a city street. nissan is refusing to pay for a rental until they come and look at my car, which they said would take 6 to 8 weeks.

Tl* takata recall. the contact owns a 2010 nissan versa. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign numbers: 18v401000 (air bags) and 17v449000 (air bags). the contact called kiefer nissan of corvallis at 541-753-1694 (located at 900 nw 4th st, corvallis, or 97330) and was informed that the parts were not available. the manufacturer was made aware of the issue and was not able to confirm when the parts were to become available. the contact had not experienced a failure. parts distribution disconnect.
Takata recall. we were unable to get the recall fixed until march 16th as parts weren't available. we took it in on fri the 16th and got both airbags replaced under the recall. as we were leaving the shop, the airbag light came on and was flashing. we thought it was just resetting after the service. we called the shop and they had us bring it in today the 21st to get it fixed. they now claim that it had nothing to do with them and that we owe money to get it fixed. that light did not come on until they messed with the airbags for the recall. we strongly feel that something they did when servicing the car made the light come on. they said since it wasn't their cause, we would have to pay to fix it. i refuse to pay for something they caused.
Takata recall i took my car in for air bag repairs which are reported to have been completed. my air bag lights are still on. i am being told this is not related to the recall but may result in the air bags not being deployed if there was an accident. the light is constantly on and the car has not been in accident since the air bag lights have been on.
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 nissan versa. while driving 20 mph, the contact noticed an abnormal burning odor coming from the steering wheel area of the control panel. the contact also heard an abnormal popping sound. shortly after, the contact lost control of the vehicle as it spun out of control and crashed into a ditch. the air bags did not deploy. there were no injuries. a police report was filed. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated that a new front bumper needed to be installed and dents on the rear passenger doors needed to be repaired. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the dealer and manufacturer were not made aware of the failure. the vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number: 17v449000 (air bags). the failure mileage was 120,000. parts distribution disconnect.
Takata recall has put my family, friends and my life in danger - not to mention countless others.... it is very stressful knowing that there is a ticking time bomb in the car we drive every day. i hope and pray that we remain safe until the airbag inflator can be replaced in the next few weeks.
Takata recall my dealership said that there's a restriction so that they can't fix it and they can't even get the parts in for my coil springs and my car is completely immobile right now
Takata recall "driver airbag failure" how in the world should i continue to use my vehicle with this warning. nissan is telling me that they are working on getting the parts to make this change. they are hoping to get the parts in spring 2018! this is ridiculous.
Takata recall
I have not received a recall for this issue, and local dealerships in florida and in georgia will not commit to replacement

Takata recall of passenger side airbag. the airbag light constantly flashes, we have received notice on this vehicle recall several times in the mail. last year we took it to hunt nissan in chattanooga ,tennessee and were told they could not get part to repair airbag. that same dealership is no east chattanooga nissan i spoke with chris, service manager on monday november 27, 2017, who verified that the part will not be in until the spring , which is very unacceptable. the car has not been in an accident yet, but 2 year old grand
Takata recall parts are unavailable until spring of 2018
Takata recall - i took my 2010 nissan versa to the fox nissan dealership in grand rapids, mi and they told me that they wouldn't have the parts available to replace my air bag until the summer of 2018. i feel that driving a car that has faulty airbags and that possibly could injure people from metal fragments is a serious recall that people should not be driving their vehicles. i was not offered another vehicle to replace my vehicle until this repair is made and it is the only vehicle i have for work and transportation for my family.
Takata recall. dealership is claiming car is fixed, but safecar website a week later is not showing fixed and automaker nissan is saying parts aren't available yet.

Takata recall. have not yet have an accident but i am worry that if it happend it will not be safe with the air bags not being in properly working condition.
Takata recall the driver airbag can cause metal to explode in drivers face.
Takata recall contacted nissan on 11/2/17 and they stated that they would not have the driver side airbag parts until april 2018 for repair. they advised me not to my vehicle and thus leaving me with no means of transportation. they want me to contact my insurance in regards for a rental car and they are making me responsible for storing my vehicle until the parts are available, 6 months from now.
In may 2017 i have experienced airbag indicator light flashing my dashboard of nissan versa versa 2010. i have scheduled an appointment at nissan service center, where i was first notified that there is pending passenger airbag recall (did not receive any notification from nissan about that). the passenger airbag was replaced under the recall at no charge but the airbag light was still present. at that particular point, nissan service did not want to perform any more inspections for free so i was charged $160.00 to get advice on flashing airbag light (repair order 1 attached). at this moment i was given an estimate of approximately $1500-1600 to get the driver seat airbag fixed. i decided to go for it (even though that it was almost half of the value of my car). my car was repaired one week later (after 2 times replacing the airbag and modules on driver seat) as the parts appear to be defective. i was without the car for about 10 days. i received notification from nissan directly in october about a recall on drivers airbag. i have contacted premier nissan of san jose, where my repair was being done to claim a refund of $1,481.68 for the repairs i was not responsible to pay. they told me to contact consumer affair and nissan directly for a refund. the service provider stated that all repairs which were done in june need to be replaced again once new parts are available, therefore i need to be eligible for a refund. the airbag still needs to be replaced in march when new parts are available.
I have brought my car to the nissan dealer and they only fixed the passenger side. the dealer said that it would take about 4 months for the driver side. i think that this is too long to wait. the dealer has run out of loaners.
Tl* takata recall. the contact owns a 2010 nissan versa. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 17v449000 (air bags). the part needed for the repair was not available. the contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. the vehicle was taken to coral springs nissan (9350 w atlantic blvd, coral springs, fl 33071, phone: (954) 388-2343), but the part was not available for the repair. the dealer stated that the part may not be available until april of 2018. the manufacturer was made aware of the issue. the contact had not experienced a failure. vin tool confirms parts not available.
Takata recall i was notified by a 3rd party about a class action suit. instructed to contact nissan dealership. wondering why nissan did not notify every driver directly?! this recall has been known since june. replacement part is on back order till end of the spring 2018. was placed in a rental vehicle by local nissan dealership since they are unable to repair my car till spring 2018. why was nissan not responsible in notifying all drivers affected of a potentially deadly defect? i have monthly trips from pittsburgh to dc, philadelphia, and the the jersey shore. this is terrifying that a defect of this magnitude and the corporation is not proactive in reaching the owners of their cars.
Takata recall. i was told by the nissan dealership that i may have to wait until the end of the year until the replacement airbags are available. this is unacceptable. while i wait for a replacement airbag my son could be killed by the defective one????????? absolutely unacceptable.
Tl* takata recall. the contact owns a 2010 nissan versa. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 17v449000 (air bags); however, the part for the recall repair was unavailable. the contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. the contact stated that the air bag and engine warning indicators illuminated. the contact called firkins nissan (1611 cortez rd w, bradenton, fl 34207; 941-755-1571) and was informed that they would not be aware of when parts would be available until 2018. the manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. the approximate failure mileage was 153,704. parts distribution disconnect.
Takata recall. nissan dealership is being extremely slow at solving this problem. i can't drive my car while the recall is open, and this is causing me hardship. i was provided with a rental car, however, they insist in selling me a new car and forget about this issue, which makes suspect that the recall is not being taken care of as promised. they stated the replacement airbags would be ready by spring 2018.
My air conditioner went out after 5 years of having the car. i had to pay over $1600.00 to have it fixed. my trunk stopped opening this year and could not be fixed. now, there is an air bag problem with no replacement parts available yet. the dealer wants a $50 dollar deposit and for me to bring my insurance records to get a loaner. i was told to have someone with me for they have no room to store my car. i would need a person to ride with me so that the car can be stored in my driveway.
Takata inflators: despite the initial recall being issued in 2016 as yet no fix available until spring 2018. contacted nissan dealer in birmingham al and was offered a loan car until they realised i will not be 21 until june 2018. it seems hypocritical to offer a loan car due to safety issues with the nissan versa but then withdraw the offer and leave no option but to drive a potentially unsafe vehicle due to an issue with their insurance company.
Takata recall dealer specified that parts are not available for my vehicle, and that they can insecurely store my vehicle on their lot until repairs are completed. during the interim, a rental vehicle will be provided, however, i on my own time must renew the rental contract every 28 days. estimated wait is until spring 2018 (3-6 months wait).
Takata recall- contacted local nissan company and they cannot remedy our recall until spring of 2018. just wanted it on file that we did make the attempt to fix the issue but parts are not available at this time. hopefully we won't have any injuries before we can get it fixed.
Takata recall i was told by the dealer that the parts to repair the airbag would not be available until spring of 2018. it is now october 2017 and my teenage daughter is the primary driver of this vehicle. there has not been an accident, but the website said to complete form if the repair could not be done in a timely manner. 6 months is not a timely manner for my child to be at risk for injury.
The airbags in my nissan have been recalled. i contacted nissan regarding this matter on 10/18/17. i am still waiting for them to address this matter. they have informed me that they do not have a loaner vehicle for me to use until the airbags are fixed. i was put on a waiting list at long beach nissan. i'm still waiting!

Takata recall received recall letter which said parts would be available spring 2018 and to see our local nissan dealer if we needed loaner vehicle. went to somersworth nissan and the service manager said he had no loaner vehicles available. he told us if there was a problem the airbag malfunction light would be on. it didn't say that in the recall letter. he said the only thing he could do for us would be t leave our car there and when he got a chance they would look at it to see if it would be dangerous to drive. i asked him if they would look at it today and e said no they didn't have time. we have to go to work tomorrow so we'll be driving the recalled car because even though we did everything we were told to do in the recall letter we couldn't get any help. i've tried contacting nissan north america to ask them if the car is safe to drive and have been on hold for over two hours. no one is answering the phone there.
Takata recall. there is a recall on the drivers side airbag. the dealer does not expect to have replacement inflators until spring of 1918. this is entirely too long and is a safety hazard to wait this long for repairs.
Hello i just received nhtsa recall 17v-449 for my nissan versa hatchback vin [xxx]. i am the original owner. i have parked the vehicle and it will not be moved until the repairs are made. however nissan says it will take 8 months until parts are available. you people at the nhtsa are part of the recall and you allow is! this is not acceptable. how could you allow a company 8 months to correct a deadly problem. thank you [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
To whom it may concern: i recently called my nearest nissan dealer and asked the representative if i am able to get a loaner car because i no longer feel safe driving after receiving a safety recall letter in the mail. he responds by saying yes just come on in and fill out the paper work for it. shortly after hanging up i head to the dealer, i get there and let the service representative know why i'm there. soon after he scheduled me to come in when i have my insurance transferred over to the loaner vehicle. come to find out that i needed full coverage transferred to the loaner vehicle which i don't have with my current insurance. however, i still have insurance. i recall the guy saying to me that once i get the loaner vehicle, i can no longer drive my nissan versa 2010 that has been recently recalled. not only are you guys risking my life but also now my insurance isn't good enough. for one, its on nissan's fault that my current isn't safe for me to drive and now i have to pay for nissan's mistake. when with my current vehicle my current insurance is perfect should not have to suffer or pay out of pocket any money at all. this is nissan's problem and they need to fix it because if i do get into my car and lets say i get i get into a car accident i will sue. my safety and my money is something i take very seriously so i need this issue to be resolved as soon as possible.
