I was driving my 2005 nissan titan crew cab truck. i had heard a clicking while turning a week prior but did not here it again. a few days later when almost home i turned the corner and heard a loud clanking sound in the rear of the truck. as i got right at my street the back end started to freeze up as the tires started to lock up i parked the truck on side of road. tried to move it after i look under the truck but it would not move. i had it towed to the local nissan dealer where i found out that the rear differential needs to be replaced on it at a cost of $4000.00!!!! i have looked online and seen hundreds of complaints on the same issue. nissan is telling me that they have never seen this before. i just thank god that i was next to my house as i would have lost control / got hurt / or hurt someone else if it locked up while driving down the highway. i currently awaiting it to be fixed. not sure what to do? *tr
2007 nissan titan rear differential failed. i noticed a thunk when coming to a stop or starting up from a stop. upon deceleration there would be a thunk thunk thunk. tempo would increase or decrease in relation to speed. i turned a corner, felt and heard a very significant clunk/bang, felt like i rolled over a boulder, as i proceeded for another 50 yds, the thunk was hard enough to feel through the vehicle and loud enough to hear from outside the vehicle as evidenced by the stares i got as i came to a stop. towed it to sheehy nissan in manassas, va, they confirmed it was the rear diff and replaced it under warranty. mileage was 42,828. *tr
Driving home one evening the truck started making very loud noises in the rear of the vehicle. after checking it several times for obvious problems i took it to a local garage who informed me the rear differential was the problem. they advised there were metal shavings all inside the housing. *tr

Rear axle seal leaks, sending oil over the back plate of the brakes, wetting the brake pads & disk, causing greater stopping distances, and rear end accidents, or rear end failure,causing an accident or roll over. this is not a new problem, since the truck has been on the market there has been seal problems with the axel and still nothing has been done,does it take a death of someone to solve this problem, no just a recall and better design. *tr

Bought a used 2007 nissan titan 4d 4x4 on 21 june 2011. after driving it for a day, noticed fluid leak around brake and wheel area next to axle on rear driver's side. took to nissan dealership who said that it was the axle seal, and both actually needed to be replaced. have never used vehicle in 4x4 or to tow. very concerned due to the possibility of the differential locking up at high speeds or towing something and causing an accident. it leaking on the brakes is also has my concern. hope this can be fixed by nissan. *tr
2006 nissan titan axle seal failure. this will be the second axle seal replaced and the second time the pinion seal has been replaced on a truck with only 73000 miles. the cost is prohibitive and the failure causes grease to drip on the rear brakes. *tr
Rear axle is leaking oil from it. its getting the rear brakes wet, with the oil is making it harder to stop. i first noticed this the other day when i went through a red light because i could not stop. my nissan titan is a 2006 xe. 74500 miles. i have only towed a trailer with the truck a hand full of times and never exceeded 5000 lbs of trailer weight which includes the weight of the trailer. there is also a tow package installed in the truck. i am currently looking in to parts and prices of repairing this leak. if this could cause brakes to fail how come this isn't a recall? and if it does become a recall will they also cover any paint damage that may occur from the oils on the tail gate? *tr
