While doing a liquids check i noticed the coolant reservoir was low. i added distilled water to the radiator and looked underneath to look for a leak. i found coolant leaking from the transmission line at the bottom of the radiator. as i backed into my garage, i heard the coolant reservoir pressurize and start to overflow. the reservoir was filled with tranny fluid. i drained the transmission and found coolant in the transmission. i don't know how many miles i drove the vehicle in this condition but i'm afraid the transmission is damaged and i can't get the coolant completely out of the transmission. i've drained and filled it twice so far and still have signs of coolant. i talked to a local dealer and they recommended that i keep draining and flushing until the tranny fluid comes out the same color as it went in. *tr

Right exhaust manifold crack. every forum on titan's complain how the exhaust manifolds crack and leak well before their time and all been under 100k. it tells me nissan does a poor job making that part and it's a costly job for customers to repair. this should be a recall item. *tr

Oil leaking on left rear wheel cause by a bad seal. truck have been repaired twice by a local licensed shop, . the problem persist. it may be cause by a bad differential. let me know if is any recalls from factory. or any on going investigation. *tr

After having ipdm module replaced (campaign number 10v517000), the ses light showed bad catalytic converters within a few thousand miles. the ipdm module failed before being replaced and it caused raw fuel to be dumped on the catalytic converters which caused them to fail. i think nissan should be responsible for the cost of failed catalytic converters when their faulty part caused the damage. this is an expensive repair ($2,800). after looking at forums on the internet, i see many people having issues with the titan catalytic converters and having them fail before the vehicle reaches 100k miles. i filed a complaint with nissan and they would not help with the repair. they said the faulty ipdm would not cause cats to fail. *tr

Prior to leaving for a trip i stoped by the dealership that i bought the truck from informed me that the exhaust was broken due to rust i was also told that there was no issue with driving it to nc from ct on the way back from nc the trailer lights failed and i started receiving slip abs brake and 4wd lights on my dash. i return the truck to the dealership and was told that the exhaust had melted the wiring harness where it had broke/rusted. i spoke to another dealership and was told this was a common issue where the wiring harness would melt when the exhaust brakes/rusts... i was also told that they had seen some where the whole tail lamp had melted. *tr

my exhaust manifold is leaking just as many other titan owners have experienced. i did not notice a noise on mine until i went in to a muffler shop to get a price on getting a dual exhaust installed and they showed me that it was cracked. as a result, i do not know when the problem began, but i can hear it constantly now. i have since, done extensive research over the internet and have found that hundreds of titan owners are experiencing the same problem. it doesn't seem to matter how old or new the titan is, owners are reporting the same issue over and over again. some are still under warranty, so they are getting a free repair, but if it is an ongoing issue, why hasn't a recall already been issued? i have been told by many muffler shop tech's that the "cast" that nissan used was a bad "cast" and they have since fixed it. if the aftermarket muffler tech knows, than nissan certainly should...or else they should be made aware of it by a recall being issued. thank you. *tr

Started having over heating issues in 8/2012. eventually had radiator completely replaced in 2/14. had transmission flushed around same time. on 3/26/14, i was on the interstate going 65mph when i lost use of the transmission, causing the engine to stall, barely avoiding a serious accident. today found out there is a defect with nissan radiators over heating and causing coolant to leak into the transmission, deteriorating the gears over time. spent around $1,000.00 getting the radiator replaced unaware of this factory defect. now i am without a functioning vehicle and i think lucky to be alive. *tr

I looked outside and had a puddle of oil under the front of my truck. got the truck to a mechanic and he informed me that the front axle popped out of place. this truck is stock, no lifts and never goes off road. so this happened under normal driving conditions. a front axle should not just pop out of place. i just got it back from replacing the rear axle and seals as both were leaking. also the rear shackles on the vehicle rotted out. this vehicle has way too many problems for nissan not to be recalling and fixing these issues. *tr

There is a leak in the manifold that causes exhaust to leak into the drivers area of the vehicle. the vehicle was under warranty when incident happened and was told that nissan would not cover the repairs of this leak. *tr

Both exhaust manifolds on my truck have cracked. the service writer at the dealership could hear it before i even said anything. this is a known issue for nissan titans. this could possibly allow exhaust gases into the passenger compartment. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 nissan titan. while driving approximately 30 mph, the contact noticed that the service engine warning indicator was continuously illuminated on the instrument panel. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer and an independent mechanic who both informed the contact that the exhaust manifold was cracked and would require replacement. the vehicle had not been repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the problem. the approximate failure mileage was 90,000. updated 03/26/12 *bf consumer had talked to nissan representative and was advised to write to nissan corporation about the reimbursement of the cost for the replacement of the exhaust manifolds on the consumers vehicle. consumer read that the manifolds was faulty and may pose a safety issue due to the exhaust fumes leaking into the car cabin. consumer reported to nets for an investigation of the faulty component. consumer would like to be informed of any recall action from nissan corporation. updated 6/7/12 *sd

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 nissan titan. the contact stated that while driving 60 mph, a noise was heard coming from under the hood. the vehicle was maneuvered to the shoulder of the road and the contact noticed exhaust fumes were leaking from the engine manifold instead of the tail pipe. the vehicle was not taken to have the failure diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure and current mileages were 66,000. the vin was unknown.

Driverside exhaust manifold cracked approx two weeks after passenger side exhaust manifold replaced due to crack. *tr

2005 nissan titan with a known poor exhaust and emission control device leads to premature failure and requires replacement prior to or soon after warranty expires. exhaust manifolds include catalytic convertors and are mounted under stress which causes fracture and emission leaks at the maniflold, into the passenger compartment and not out of the exhaust. severely cracked manifolds can actually allow the engine to run with the tailpipe closed. *tr

Cracked exhaust manifolds on both sides of v8 engine as diagnosed by nissan dealer. result -- will leak raw exhaust gases into passenger compartment and into atmosphere. investigation reveals cracked manifolds to be a huge problem for nissan titans and large numbers of titans are affected. nissan emission warranty only covers 8yrs/80,000 miles. but since these exhaust manifolds are clearly defective due to improper design and pose a serious safety threat and emissions problem they should be replaced at nissan's expense regardless of vehicle age or mileage. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 nissan titan. the contact stated that while the vehicle was at the dealer for routine maintenance. the dealer found that the intake manifold was cracked. the vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 84,000 and the current mileage was 124,000.

I was having an issue with my engine stalling with around 97,900 miles on my 2005 nissan titan. at this time, my check engine light also came on. i took it to the dealership to get the problem code read and they said i had faulty bank 1 and bank 2 catalytic converters. the dealer said the stalling was due to a recall, nhtsa campaign id number: 10v517000. my complaint is that i had no problem with my catalytic converters until this recall issue. since my catalytic converters and exhaust manifold are one piece, it cost $2,827.28 to have them replaced and i do not feel i should have to pay this, since this problem stemmed from their recall issue.

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 nissan titan. the contact stated that she could hear a loud noise coming from the engine while driving at various speeds. the vehicle was taken to an independent repair shop where the contact was informed that there was a leak in the exhaust system. as a result, the exhaust system needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure, but offered no assistance. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 85,000 and the current mileage was 90,000.

About two years ago i started hearing a ticking noise on my 2005 nissan titan pu at start up. couldn't for the life of me figure out what it was until nissan sent me an owner notification card about cracks in the exhaust manifolds. then it dawned on me what that ticking noise was when cold start up took place. i had the vehicle recently in the shop for 2 other recalls and mentioned this along with the notice i received about this problem from nissan. the service manager said they would look into it but was concerned because i had 83,400 miles on the truck and warranty issues only would fix this up to 80,000 miles. i haven't ever had a exhaust crack on any vehicle that i have owned since 1972 and had some of these vehicle to upward of 250,000 miles. why won't nissan do something about this to fix this issue because it looks like it is all of them that crack. seems to me for safety issues and exhaust fumes that should be routed to the rear of the vehicle are now being pushed into the engine compartment and not even getting to the catalytic converter. i'm very disappointed in nissan for the absence of help in this issue and a serious one at that. this should be a recall and of all the watchdog areas of our life where is the epa on this one. *tr

My exhaust manifold/ cat has failed. there is a crack in my exhaust manifold and over warranty 15k. i have notice mpg loss and gases entering my cabin when i'm at a stop light and my window is down. i'm a father of 3 and worried for my children safety. passenger is cracked and worried that the drivers is going to go soon. the dealership will not cover under warranty. this will cost me 600 per side + 600 for labor which brings the total to 1800+tax. i'm apart of a nissan club/forum and this is a problem numerous people are having, 50+ in california. some people have to go aftermarket or even pass it illegally through black market channels. nissan is well aware of this problem and released a revised version which still have the same problem. nissan is robbing their customers and need to be brought to justice. they should be responsible under the emissions law and for putting out a known faulty part. i don't know what to do i have many friends in other states that are on their 2nd set or going on their 3rd set. this should be addressed for the safety of people and the earth [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

Exhaust manifold leaking for the second time. bank 1 side was bad before the 80 emissions warranty was up, however dealership wouldn't do it, so we purchased another oem manifold/cat and had another shop replace it. now 2 years later that side has failed and is leaking again. the catalytic converter has failed on that side also. nissan has not offered a recall. exhaust manifold leaking allows exhaust fumes to not be vented correctly and the fumes can come into the cabin of the vehicle. i have spoken with the dealership and it should be noted i'm out of the 80 k emissions warranty. the oem equipment is not up to par. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 nissan titan. when the contact turned on the ignition, the engine began trembling and turned off. the contact was unable to turn it back on. the vehicle was towed to an authorize dealer where it was stationed. the technician stated that the battery and ipdm assembly needed to be replaced. the contact was informed that his vehicle was not included in recall 10v517000 (engine and engine cooling). the failure mileage was approximately 80,000.

Emissions problem leading to catalytic converter failure due to cracking exhaust manifold of my 2005 nissan titan. *tr

Both my exhaust manifolds have cracked one has been replaced by the dealer under warranty. the other one is now cracked and is out of warranty. *tr

Both exhaust manifolds have gone bad due to cracks and thus have exhaust leaks. *tr

2005 nissan titan leaking exhaust manifolds. the exhaust manifolds are cracked and leaking fumes into the cab of my truck. i can also hear a ticking noise and engine performance is suffering. *tr

Crack exhaust manifold/catalytic converter is one piece. *tr

Exhaust manifold leaking for the second time. both sides were replaced under warranty and then 1 year and 8 days later i was told they were leaking again. nissan refuses to cover under warranty. exhaust manifold leaking allows exhaust fumes to not be vented correctly and the fumes can come into the cabin of the vehicle. i have spoken with the dealership and also filed a request with the main nissan corporation. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 nissan titan. while driving approximately 55 mph, the contact heard a loud noise coming from the rear of the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the technician replaced the rear differential. the repair expense was partially covered under the service warranty and the owner was responsible for the difference. recently, there was failure with the exhaust system. the vehicle was being repaired, and the contact was unaware of the extent of the repair. the failure mileage was approximately 70,000. updated 01/13/11*bf updated 01/24/11. *jb

Ok i have a 2005 nissan titian i bought from [xxx]in little rock very good guy, its a 4wd never been in the mud not once well just yesterday i pulled out to follow my friend [xxx] to subway when i did my whole truck jerked and made a loud pop then everytime i turned it made the same noise and when i drove to the shop with it was bouncing my whole tailgate up and down... come to find out that my rear end burned up in my truck and was going to b about as much money to put a new engine in to get it fixed.... i have never seen a rear end go out on a truck that's practically new with only 100k miles on it... very disappointed will not being buying another titian again ima stick with toyota. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

2005 nissan titan le had an exhaust tailpipe separation at a weld. the hanger than holds the tailpipe is designed wrong. the weight of the pipe causes the exhaust gases up into the passenger side rear fender melting wires, plastic, and potentially anything in the cargo box area (bed liner melted). the tailpipe was not damaged in any way prior to the incident. i have found many internet forums with the same problem occurring to other titan owners. i am confident if i would not have noticed the problem earlier and had combustibles in the cargo area, the vehicle would have caught fire. my right turn signal did not work and that is what made me look for the problem. *tr

Failure of exhaust flange in exhaust of 2005 nissan titan. *tr

Design flaw on nissan titan due to exhaust leak which will then burn the electrical wiring and the truck will stop all of sudden with lost of power and brakes, which may cause accidents. *tr we were on our way back from camping trip with travel trailer in tow. on interstate 81 near wilkes barre, pa...we were going 65 mph and all of a sudden the vehicle engine stopped, we had a lost of power and brakes and had to cripple towards the shoulder and couldn't start the engine again. what caused this failure is the tail pipe came loose due to rust and the heat from the exhaust burned the electrical wiring that was placed alongisde the exhaust causing the engine computer to malfunction. we had to pay $1,300.00 to get the vehicle repaired not including one night hotel stay and renting a car back home because the part was not available for a few days and having to drive back up to pick up the truck with the travel trailer and bring them all back home. the distance is 156 miles from where it broke down to where we live. i believe there's a design flaw that could be dangerous. this is not the first time it happened, service manager in wilkes barre acknowledged several other titans with the same problem when there is an exhaust leak as well as our local nissan service manager acknowledged the same. nissan should have protected the wiring in the exhaust area with heat shield of some sort. exhaust leaks over time, it's the nature of the exhaust but it should not require customers to pay $1,300.00 to get the electrical system repaired. i have reported this to nissan consumer affairs asking for assisting in the repair cost due to design flaw, they declined assistance indicating that it is my negligence that the tailpipe separated from the muffler. no other cars on the road with a dangling tailpipe needs to have electrical wirings replaced because of that, it's because they don't run the wirings parallel to the exhaust. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 nissan titan. the contact stated while attempting to start the vehicle, the vehicle was hesitant to start. the dealer performed a diagnostic on the vehicle and found that the intelligent power distribution model (ipdm) was defective. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not contacted. the failure and current mileage was approximately 95,403.

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 nissan titan. the contact stated there was a leak coming from the exhaust manifold, causing the odor to enter through the air conditioning unit. the vehicle was taken to the dealer but was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 50,000 and the current mileage was 120,000.

My 2005 nissan titan has two cracked exhaust manifolds. they are cracked into two pieces and are allowing carbon monixide to escape from the exhaust system adjacent to the cab of the truck. this is a potentially lethal failure due to co poisioning. nissan has been contacted and will not assist with repairs, even though there have been hundreds of similar reported cases. my vehicle is out of the warranty period and i understand nissan's reluctance, financially, to repair the failure. however, due to the potentially dangerous nature of the designed flaw that caused the failure i believe that a recall is justified. i am very willing to take the steps required to initiate a recall, but i am not sure how to proceed.

2/3/10: 2005 nissan titan breaks down on hwy 71 at the light right before the entrance to the airport. my 120 lbs fianc has to work to push the truck out of the lane with cars racing by at 60 mph with our 8 month old daughter. 2/4/10: engaged terry wisdom with maxwell nissan in round rock and he worked to have my ecm relay switched out and charges $340.06 for the repair.12/29/10: received recall notice advises to contact nissan dealer. 12/30/10: - engaged service advisor at maxwell nissan in rr about the recall and their recent work in february. she advised i have to call into nissans 800 numbers in order to move forward with the recall. she offers minimal assistance with bridging that gap. i asked her to have her supervisor engage. supervisors calls back and advises that i have call into nissans 800. provides documents, i ask for assistance? and states his dealerships can not get involved. i should have "consider toyota or ford with my purchase" but my issues are with a nissan. contact nissan north america kala advises to go back to the dealership to have the part re-replaced due to the service took place in feb and this recall states anything before november has to also be replaced. file # 7042010 engage gm for maxwell nissan and i inform him of the history with this issue and customer service experience ive received with his service department. have i considered going to back to the dealership where i purchased the truck from compares my experience to his dell hard drive crashing. i advised that my check for service if february was cut to his dealership and for assistance with the engagement, he would not. i advised that i was going to post my experience on youtube or facebook, if you do, do not come back to this dealership! service advisor manager it is sad to see our society come to the point of having to use social media

My titan, as i'm driving hesitates, or momentarily cuts response, and my engine stalls and turns off, i have since then found out that my ipdm was the responsible component for such stalls.....it happens twice a day at ungiven times, i replaced the ipdm and have had no problems. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 nissan titan. the contact stated that a ticking sound was heard from the vehicle during startup. the vehicle was taken to a private mechanic where the mechanic confirmed that the right and left manifold was cracked. the manufacturer was not contacted. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 75,000 and the current mileage was 90,000.

The rear exhaust flange broke causing the exhaust pipe to aim into the underside of the truck bed. this has cause melting plastic, rear taillight failure and paint to delaminate from the rear fender. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 nissan titan. the contact stated that both exhaust manifolds cracked and the contact noticed that the vehicle had become very loud. there was also a fuel odor inside which alerted her to a potential failure. the vehicle was taken to a local mechanic who stated that the manifolds were cracked and would need to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired at a later date. the contact called the manufacturer who offered no assistance. the current mileage was approximately 100,000. the failure mileage was approximately 74,000.

Tl* the contact owns 2005 nissan titan. the contact stated that there was a crack in the exhaust manifold and the vehicle would make a popping sound when the engine was on. the exhaust was also leaking. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the manifold was replaced. the manufacturer was notified, but did not assist with the repairs. the failure mileage was 100,000 and 200,000.

I own a 2005 nissan titan king cab, which i purchased it in november of 2005. after, approximately 30days of ownership and 500 miles of travel; the front brakes began to experience complications (they would shudder while braking and create an unreasonable amount of brake dust.) i quickly return to my local dealership where i purchased it, for servicing. the nissan dealership repaired the rotors. during the summer of 2006, i began to notice a musty odor emitting from the floor and carpeting of the passenger side. during a routine oil change and requested the mechanic to inspect the truck for the cause of the odor. they couldn't locate the source of the odor. i returned the truck to the dealership for the same problem on several other occasions, during the summer of 2007 odor reappeared; they replaced the rubber gasket around door windows in hopes of resolving the issue. meanwhile the front brakes rotors were replaced again and the gauges (fuel, oil, tach ,voltmeter) acting erratically. the dealership repaired the brakes under my extended warranty & prorated my purchase of a new nissan auto battery; according to service dept. this was the cause of the gauges malfunction. then again in2008, i was told the brakes were no longer under warranty and that the musty odor was caused by water coming into the cabin via a small void in the window sealant around the "factory installed windshield' upon hearing this, i chose to take my truck to another mechanic due to nissan mechanic inability to resolve the brake issue & locate the source of the water. this year 2009, the rear end was repaired due the seals leaking on the driver's side and preventive replacement on the passenger seals. however, a few old issues along with new ones that still exist. my new mechanic told me the source of the water & odor issue is the a/c condenser leaking into the cabin, the blinking air bag indicator light was due to a harness needing replacing in the rear doors. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 20o5 nissan titan. while driving approximately 25 mph and accelerating from a complete stop, the engine stalled without warning. after waiting a few moments the engine was restarted. the failure recurred on a different occasion and the engine failed to restart. the vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer for diagnosis and they replaced the relay switch at the owner's expense. a recall notification was received two years later after the repair. the recall was associated with nhtsa campaign id number: 10v517000 (engine and engine cooling). the contact planned to notify the manufacturer to verify whether the vehicle was included in the recall. the failure mileage was unavailable.
