Recently reported POWER TRAIN problems on 2005 Nissan Titan

Loud clunk when accelerating, slack in drive line when shifting. dealer replaced entire rear end. *nm

Started noticing a whining from the rear end, soon my "slip and abs" lights were lighting on the dash. dealer told me it was only a sensor and replaced my complete rear end (for a sensor?). *nm

Complete rear differential failure. children were in the truck. very unsafe!!! had to get towed to dealership. if this had happened on the highway things could have been much worse. *jb

1) driving under normal conditions 2) right real axle seal failure, leaking diff. fluid onto brakes and wheel 3) dealer replaced right rear axle seal and bearing. *tr

Rear differential failure during normal driving. vehicle had 9,000 miles. upon taking a right turn a loud clank was heard by myself and passengers from the rear of the vehicle. on my way home i realized that one tire was not maintaining traction even through slow turns, and the clanking recurred every so often. took vehicle to the dealer the next day and he agreed that rear differential would be replaced. they did an excellent job of replacing the unit in 8 days, however it was a major inconvenience to be without the car for that period.*ak

Rear end failure (many failures have been reported) i have children that ride with me and am concerned if rear end went at speed. mine was not a total failure, yet. whinning noise and dash lights made me bring it in. they did some testing and advised me that they would order a new rear end. told me to drive it till the new one comes in. i think this could be a dangerous situation. *nm

Rear differential failure. *nm

1--nothing/none 2--rear end gears broke, had to be towed 3--replacement of rear end. *nm

I bought a car on 08/06/2005 the sales person told me that it was a purchase and he ask me to sign the blank forms and they were supposed to fill them up and send them to my home address when i received the papers i never checked the information. i have been paying till now but now i tried to talk to the sales person to check my car he told me that i had to pay because i had a lease that was why i called to the nissan motor acceptance corporation and they did not have any information about me they only had information about santos romero. that is why i want to cancel this lease agreement because i didn't want to lease a car i wanted buy a car and they lied me. *nm

Catastrophic rear differential failure. was leaving work and everything seemed fine, came to stop at stopsign, hit throttle to go and bang, the rear blew. afterwards the truck would not move, but the driveshaft was spinning and bad grinding and clunking sounds could be heard. i'm sure nissan is going to replace the axel assembly although it is still in the shop. i have corresponded with others who have had this happen, and the rear is always replaced as a unit, and nissan isn't really acnowledging that a problem exists, although some have gone through 3 rear ends. as far as i know, they all have the electronic locking differential option. nobody was hurt, but i wouldn't want to see what would happen if it failed on the highway. *nm

(1)rear end brakes no movement while driving (2)fortunately incident happened at night with not a lot of traffic and no accident happened, however if this happened during the day it could have caused a major accident. the vehicles rear end, driving force, failed causing the vehicle to stop while driving and roll backwards while gas pedal is pressed. (3)vehicle was put into 4hi to get home, this occured saturday night, have to wait till monday to have vehicle towed to nissan dealership. *jb

1) driving truck under normal operating conditions 2) rear axle seal failure, resulting in lube being splattered around wheel, and rear brake system on left rear wheel. 3) dealership replaced lr axle bearing and seal. *tr

Failure happened under normal driving conditions. blown/bad axle seal. fluid leaking from end of axle tube and possible damage to internal components. this is the second failure of the same part in 6000 miles. *jb

No prior events leading to failure. the vehicle was driven normally according to manufacturers recommended procedure. the rear differential of my 2004 nissan titan broke 4 times, first time was at 6,000 miles, then every 3,000 miles there after. nissan then replaced free of charge with a 2005 in which the rear differential has now broke 1 time. when the differential breaks the vehicle is immobilized and sometimes left in harms way (i.e. unable to get out of the middle of an intersection, towing downhill and the differential breaks making the vehicle very hard to stop) nissan has replaced 3 rear differentials in the 2004 vehicle. they then gave a new 2005 nissan titan to me. nissan has repaired 1 rear differential in this vehicle. i do not trust this vehicle and feel unsafe driving it as i am not sure when the next failure will happen. the incident date below is the most recent one.*jb

2005 nissan titan. pulling onto a highway on ramp from a stop the rear differential broke. truck was still drivable, but by no means safe to drive. was able to drive to dealership and drop off. *jb

We purchased a truck from nissan in october of 2004. it has been in the shop many times and in december of 2004, it was there over 30 days. the transmission and the rear end have both gone out, windows don't roll up and down correctly, rattling in the cab where the visor and garage door openers are held. the brake, vdc, tow, and abs switch stay on all the time. the brakes are going out and the whole truck shimmies. now in addition to the transmission being replaced once, it's slipping again. nissan stated they would pay for the rental on the 30 days, but that was a lie. they socked me with an $283.00 bill. $181.00 was to fill up the tank with gas!!!!!!! there are also missing valves on the tires they themsleves took off and didn't replace and the alarm goes off by itself when no one is around. give me a break...nissan states this does not qualify for the lemon law. i need help in this situation. *ak
