My name is [xxx], i have a 2004 nissan titan i've had my vehicle in the shop 5 times from the fuel rails leaking within the last 4 mth. this did not just start the fuel rails have been leaking over the years i just did not know what the smell was coming from. once the pressure build up it stops leaking that why i could never see the fuel leaking, until one morning i cranked up with the hood up. the thing is these fuel rails leaks the fuel on the engine and i know nissan knows this. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
Hello. i recently bought a 2004 nissan titan. when having the vehicle checked for safety, we noticed that one of the rear axle seals on the passengers side were leaking. the seal looked to have lead a fairly large amount of oil that was saturating the rim and also soaked the emergency break on the passenger side. after looking at the car fax in noticed that this same vehicle had a rear axle seal replace in january. i cannot be certain this seal was the same seal as the one in january. the vehicle has 68000 miles on it. after doing some research on titan talk.com i noticed that this is a common problem from this truck. i am not sure if anything can be done about it but i do feel like this could turn into a safety issue considering not only that this seems to be a common problem, but that when this problem does occur, it saturates the rims, tires and brakes with oil. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2004 nissan titan. the contact received a recall notice for nhtsa campaign id number 08v284000. she was upset that she would have to drive a total of 75 miles in order to have her vehicle repaired. she was informed that the manufacturer was not liable for the distance she had to travel to have the recall repair performed. there had been no failure to date. the current mileage was less than 50,000. updated 07/01/09 *bf updated 07/06/09. *jb
I have a 2004 titan crew cab 4x4 with 61,000 miles. april of 2009 i checked my air conditioner and found it not to be cooling. i took it in the my local dealership who informed me i had a leak in the high pressure ac hose. charges for repair $450.00. ok no problem. in the following month of may after returning from a trip i found oil below the right axel. again i took it to my dealership. i was informed that the high pressure hose for the transmission and the high pressure hose for the power steering was both leaking. the mechanic informed me that the hose brackets on that model were bad and that along with new hoses he put on the new type of brackets. he didn't say why the hoses leaked other than "you know the truck is five years old." by the way the cost for that repair $859.00. so in the span of 30 days i have spent over $1300.00 to have all of the high pressure hoses replaced. i have never had to replace hoses like this on any vehicle i've ever owned and some i kept for up to ten years. is it the hoses that are sub-standard or is it the clamps that wore through the hoses? either way all the hoses should not have needed replacement in such a short time. it doesn't matter i was looking buying a new titan until this came up. no new titan for me. *tr
My 2004 nissan titan leaks profusely onto by emergency brakes. my emergency brakes do not work at all on a hill. the nissan mechanic has pointed this out to me while the truck was up on the rack. he stated that the left rear axle seal was and still leaking. i would have to replace the seal spacer and bearing, for a grand total of $171.00 for parts, and almost $200.00 for labor. this has happen repeatedly on all nissan titan trucks. there should be a recall on this item. owners should be compensated for their expenses on such a defective part. *tr
2004 nissan titan exhaust manifold cracked this is a emission issue. *tr
I own a 2004 nissan titan. i have had this vehicle in the shop for brake failure numerous times. i recently had a car accident in the vehicle because of brake failure. this vehicle was damaged , and the vehicle i hit was also damaged, and sustained injuries. this vehicle was now out of warranty, and the dealer will not repair it, i have stacks of service records , where the truck has been in the shop for brake failure since 2004 when i bought it new. now i am looking at repairing the vehicle and the person i hit and the insurance company was giving me problems because they didn't believe that this vehicle was known for its brake failure. *ak

My entire rear axle had to be replaced at 31,500 miles on my nissan titan. it started howling and smoking when driving to moab. the dealer replaced the entire rear axle. thankfully i was not at highway speeds when the rear end failed. in addition, the vehicle has had 4 sets of brakes/rotors/calipers on the vehicle and is starting to exhibit signs of needing the fix again. *jb
Brakes and rotors needed turned at 4.000 miles and brake pedal going to the floor..drivers window not always working..antifreeze smell after driving
The radio component of the stereo system is horrible!! have had it checked three times, and all they say it is is a loose antenna!!!! reception sounds terrible, like pocket transistor radio. cd player sounds terrific! but, for $1200 upgrade stereo, radio should sound great. reception fades in and out, and sounds like mono, not stereo.*ak
Truck vibrates very roughly and brakes push down low to the floor when brakes are applied. brakes were first serviced at 4,503 miles on september 24, 2004. again truck started to vibrate when brakes were applied, and had to be pushed hard and low to floor. brakes were again serviced at 8,795 miles on january 18, 2005. truck currently has 12,565 miles and truck again vibrates when brakes are applied, and brakes need to be pressed hard and go low to the floor. nissan has been notified and waiting for contact for service of truck. in addition, the following items have been noted with nissan: there is a clunking noise when shifting gears (possible drive shaft problem), truck runs very rough and loud (possible belt tension problem), the radio has bad reception and the dashboard rattles. in addition, it was noted to nissan that the driver's side mirror reflects the dashboard when driving at night, which is very distracting when looking into the driver's side mirror in order to change lanes.*ak
Bought vehicle in march of 2004, replace pads in early may. the rotors then went out june 30. replace and lasted 3 days before brake pedal went to the floor. replace master cylinder. limited slip differential light is now coming on. stereo does not hold a station. truck has had new brakes 3 times in 3.5 months. *la
Front brake pads, and rotors, are being redone again, at 11700 miles. this was done before at around 7000-800 miles. i am worried, that they will go out again, and that i will have to replace them again in another 10000 miles, and i will then have to pay for them, especially if this is a known problem. refered to this by chip chidester (sci).*ak
Horrible fm radio reception. static, treble fades the automatic feature on the power windows does not function properly. when windows are all the way down and you hit the auto up button, the window tries to go up and then goes back down. it then will not work for several seconds. low tire pressure light comes on after extended driving.
The stereo fm stations continuously fade into mono type sound and weak radio reception particularly after engaging bumps in road or making a turn. the sound tends to correct itself temporarily when on smooth road surface or stopped. dealer blamed the issue on local weak fm broadcast of radio stations. also stated, nothing can be done and wait for recall. *la
Fm radio reception fades in and out, sounds muffled. rockford fosgate system. speakers and sound are totally unacceptable. *jb
