Just had both manifolds replaced under nissan warranty. as i was driving away from the dealership i heard a loud pop turning right from the rear of the truck. turned around back into the dealerships parking lot i heard another pop? the service tech drove it around their service area and said my rear differential was going out. nissan has known this has been an issue for years especially in the early trucks years but refuses to fix it under a recall. this is a $3500.00 fix which the consumer has to pay and nissan profits from a poorly designed component. there needs to be a recall on all nissan titans from '04 - '07. *tr

While traveling to go on a 13 hour drive, all of our engine lights came on and the truck became sluggish. we had truck towed and got a call from dealership saying what happen was muffler/exhaust unit fell off during travel and the unit remaining got so hot it burned out entire part of truck including, ecu, rear right harness, and 3 other things. cost to fix over $3,000. after paying hefty bill shop manager said this was the 5th titan in our small town he had same issue with and that he agrees this is the worst place for a unit on a truck and manufacturer should of put other location. i then filed a complaint with nissan consumer affairs. they acted like they cared and then 3 weeks later they denied helping me at all saying it was out of warranty. i did research on line and lots of people are having same issue. this is a huge safety concern and i think needs to be recalled and i need to be reimbursed for my repairs. i find it odd that the exhaust manifold also cracked on the truck on the right and left side and nissan covers that until 80,000 miles. *tr

2004 nissan titan crew cab xe 4x4. radiator has failed, rear differential leaked, rear differential axle seals failed, front differential failed twice"c-clip", transmission leaked three times, front brake rotors replaced, driver side power window failed, something to do with the shifter fell out from underneath the dash, rear shackles for leaf springs are failing, numerous safety recalls and even more information bulletins that nissan will not repair. *tr
2004 nissan titan - know issue with exhaust manifolds that leak. this leak or crack in the exhaust manifold causes the engine computer to run full rich all the time. this creates an unsafe condition inside the cab of the vehicle with noxious exhaust fumes and health concerns. not to mention the fuel mileage is almost cut in half as i have calculated. my truck will be on it's third set of manifolds. the first two sets of replacements were covered under the federal emissions warrant up to 80k miles but that has expired at this point. nissan is aware of this issue and from information i have gathered the have updated the design of the manifolds. i might add that the catalytic converters are directly connected to these manifolds. i cannot stress enough the safety concerns with exhaust fumes constantly entering inside this cab - i drive to work with headaches and nausea and burning eyes every day! *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2004 nissan titan. the contact stated the exhaust manifold was leaking. the contact took the vehicle to a local dealer who stated the exhaust manifold leak was a common problem with his year, make, and model. the dealer stated there were no recalls related to the exhaust manifold. the contact stated if the exhaust manifold had a larger crack in the exhaust it could have caused a fire. the failure mileage was 108,000.
Exhaust manifolds in nissan titans around the year of '04 are cracking when the shouldn't be with just mild wear and tear on the car. dealers are saying its not a dangerous problem so they cant recall it but with a cracked exhaust manifold co can and often does leak into the cabin. *tr

I was driving a 2004 nissan titan approximately 35 mph. the motor cut off and i coasted to a stop. the motor restarted after a few minutes and i attempted to get to a repair shop. after driving approx 3 miles, the motor cut off again. i was able to restart the engine after a few minutes and drove approx 1 mile to a repair shop. after leaving the repair shop, i called two nissan dealers and both said that it sounded like a recall that nissan had planned for early dec 2010. one of them suggested that i have the repair shop run a diagnostic to see if anything showed as a problem. if nothing showed then it was probably related to the scheduled recall. i contacted the repair shop and relayed the info. after running the diagnostic, i was told that there were no warnings. i have major concerns about driving a vehicle with an engine that will just cut off for no apparent reason. when i asked the two dealers what could be done, i was told not much since the recall isn't due to go into effect until dec and that they (the dealers) had been instructed to not do anything until dec. it appears that nissan is aware of the problem but chooses to ignore the potential consequences. *tr

Exhaust manifolds cracked and leaking exhaust into passenger compartment. *tr
Both exhaust manifolds have developed cracks and leaks. nissan refused to repair if not within 70k warranty. *tr
Cracked exhaust manifolds. *tr
2004 nissan titan vin [xxx] at 90k miles the exhaust manifolds cracked on my 2004 nissan titan. nissan covers this under warranty until 80k miles for the exhaust system. the truck has had no modification and will not pass state emissions and gets horrible gas mileage due to this. now at 104 k i have visited multiple dealers and they agree this is common issue with the titan's and the crack will make a 5 year old truck not pass state emissions. to replace the exhaust manifold with stock parts is $1200; which frustrates me since this is a faulty design which causes the manifolds to move differently then the engine mounts allow the engine to. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2004 nissan titan. while test driving the vehicle, driving approximately 25 mph he heard a ticking sound in the engine compartment. the dealer advised him that the failure was normal. the contact stated that he purchased the vehicle used in august of 2010 and that the failure had occurred since the purchase date. the vehicle had not been repaired. the failure mileage was 87,000 and the current mileage was 94,888.
Ticking noise discovered when starting the truck. sounds seems to come from lower engine compartment or from front wheel-wells. suspected a leaking exhaust pipe. took truck to nissan dealership and was informed the exhaust manifolds (left and right) were both cracked. estimated cost was $2100. advised by nissan technician to "just leave it alone" as the only result of this problem was the ticking noise and a little worse mileage than usual. over the last year, several instances of engine fumes causing passengers to roll windows down. suspect the fumes are coming from the manifolds since no other exhaust leaks have been found. *tr
The vehicle in question is a 2004 nissan titan with approx. 36,000 miles of use on the vehicle. on several uses i heard 'clunking' noises from under the vehicle. on the last time before taking the vehicle to the dealer, the abs warning light illuminated and the 'clunking' noise was like a grinding noise also. the dealer told me the differential had failed and needed to be replaced. this part is an extremely important part of the vehicles ability to operate safely. this part failed with only 36,000 miles on it. clearly it is a defective product and action to force the manufacturer to correct the problem to prevent serious injuries to others is required. the dealer also stated that the radiator had failed and replaced it without authorization. when questioned about this the dealer stated it was a crack in the seam. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2004 nissan titan. the contact stated that the exhaust manifold cracked which caused the exhaust fumes to escape into the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who stated that if the manifold was replaced but the catalytic converter was not, the manifold would crack again. the catalytic converter was replaced. the vin was unavailable. the failure mileage was approximately 120,000 and the current mileage was approximately 121,000.
Driving 70 mph on interstate with cruise control on, engine just stopped. coasted to side of road. nissan dealer diagnosed problem as failed ipdm (intergrated power distribution module). new part seems to have solved the problem. dealers mechanic said the factory told him they had experienced problems with these parts. it's very unnerving to have the engine shut off on a busy 6 lane highway. vehicle is a 2004 nissan titan. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2004 nissan titan. the contact started the ignition and heard a loud ticking noise on the outside of the vehicle. the failure would occur when the vehicle was in motion and during the engine initial start-up. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for diagnosis and they informed that the exhaust manifold exhibited a severe crack. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 66,000. the vin was unavailable.
Purchased a 2004 nissan titan in april 2010 with 82k on the engine. in may 2010, i brought the truck in for a recall. the vehicle had 82,528 miles on it. the dealer discovered that both exhaust manifolds were leaking and quoted my $1800.00 for the repair. i now smell a strong odor of exhaust fumes coming into the cab. the fumes cause nausea and headaches. i have contacted nissan and they refuse to fix the problem. i have researched this topic online and found this to be a very common defect among 2004 thru 2007 nissan titans. there has yet to be a recall for this issue. i continually see people reporting this issue on internet forums. this is a known defective part. the leak is also hazardous to the environment. i have reported this issue to the epa as well. *tr
I purchased my 2004 nissan titan in april 2010, i took the vehicle in for service on may 6, 2010 and was told my exhaust manifolds are leaking. the warranty is 8 yr/ 80k, i have 82k on my titan. the exhaust fumes leak into the cab causing nausea and dizziness. this is a safety issue. the dealer won't replace them, because they are out of warranty. the replacement cost is $2000.00. *tr
