Problems with 2015 Nissan Sentra POWER TRAIN

On average, the 2015 Nissan Sentra starts to “feel” problems with the POWER TRAIN and its various aspects after 59 618 miles.

Recently reported POWER TRAIN problems on 2015 Nissan Sentra

80,000 miles and the transmission blew! this is not right. our auto shop told us this has been an ongoing issue with nissan & our type of vehicle involving the cvt transmission. this should be a red flag that this should not be happening. we were driving the vehicle on the highway and it was not accelerating. very dangerous. had the vehicle towed into our local auto shop to find out the vehicle needs a new transmission! unfortunately the dealership is telling us that our vehicle is not a part of the chronic factory recall that has been an ongoing issue with nissan for quite some time.

The car started jumping then slowed down when driving until it stoped

I was on my way home from san diego when my car wouldn't go over 65mph on the highway when i accelerate it hesitates to go into gear at times and my wife put it in drive and it wouldn't go no mechanic would look at my car because they say it's a recall on my vehicle but the dealer is saying it's not on recall

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 nissan sentra. while driving 20 mph, a loud noise heard was heard and the vehicle began to jerk. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired nor taken to a dealer. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 74,000.

I have a 2015 nissan sentra with a failed cvt transmission. the failure happened suddenly while i was on the highway, doing and average sped of 65 mph. during acceleration, the car will lurch and jump forward like it's losing power than gaining it back, it shifts extremely hard and will not gain speed unless going downhill. while pressing on the accelerator the rpms will bounce between 2k and 6k rapidly. through doing research i found i'm not the only one with this issue, there are sentra owners who's car has less than 60k miles having the same issue.

I have gone thru 3 transmissions in less than 3 years. 1st went out at 33k, 2nd went out at 86k, and the last at 148k. nissan charged me 800.00 for the 2nd. nissan states i am liable for all charges now. the dealership where i've had the work done has replaced over 1000 of these trannys. why? they are defective or at least an inferior product. a search of your site has garnered over 100 complaints regarding this part in my year and model alone. nissan stated to me that if i replace it the warranty will be 12 mo or 12k miles. upon further research i found that this part is proprietary to the vehicle, there is no other replacement part! salvage yards in las vegas will not even carry them. to put a different tranny in would require an engine and ecm change. i asked one yard what they do if they got a vehicle with this tranny and they stated that they remove the tranny and part the car out. is this what i'm forced to do? the reality of this part failing at speed on the highway and getting run over by a semi truck is very real with dire consequences. i implore you to launch an investigation into the quality of this part and nissans business practices.

Takata recall my transmission has gone twice in 4 years of having a brand new car. first time within a month. no warning lights, nothing. all of a sudden my car starts sputtering, won't accelerate and starts going in reverse while in drive. my car is not drivable at this point and had to be left in another state

Bought the car brand new dec 2015, transmission needed to be replaced at 68k miles, nissan replaced it in jan 2018, and now june 2019 the transmission needs to be replaced again only 1.5 years after they replaced the last transmission. the car is only 3 years and 7 months and needs it's 3rd transmission. the transmission can go out at anytime, it needs to be replaced every 1-2 years. while driving on the freeway the rpm jumps up and down, when driving above 60 mph. it's very unsafe and it is not reliable.

The car has a little less than 35000 miles on it. while driving it loses speed and even when i press the pedal down it doesn't want to move. the rpms go way up but the car is very slow to pick up speed. the problem really picked up after the dealer did the recommended transmission service. it has happened several times now.

Noticed lack of power while driving constant kick back almost like going over a rumble strip when accelerating loss of fuel mileage and occasionally a sound like a bird chirp if goes above 2000 rpm. happens on city or highway roads. no lights on the dash or check engine light coming on. took my 2015 sentra to nissan to find out warranty has expired even though several year models from 2003-2010 have faulty cvt transmissions expanding to warranty but 2015 isn't included.

Take it a dealer , they said is the transmission, but where i bought it, they don't want to help me, i bought insurance 3 years or 35000 miles, i have 120000 miles, i still paying the car,it could be a recall car??it's on the street.

Took my car in for a whining sound. was told at nissan hwy 96 in warner robins that i needed a transmission and that my warranty expired at 60000 miles. my car loose power on incline and is making a whining sound. sluggish in changing gears and just seems to slow down even when i am pushing the gas .

Car loses power to console only at times and others the hole car loses power while driving losing all control of car while in motion.

While driving the vehicle, it would stutter when attempting to accelerate uphill. made appointment with local dealership for a diagnostic test. on the day of the appointment, the service department called and reported metal shavings in the transmission. the service manger said that the automatic transmission would be 'rebuilt'.

When driving my vehicle on the interstate and keeping a steady 65-70 mph it will all the sudden stop accelerating and mpg's decline. i was in the fast lane and was almost rear ended. i had to pull the car over. it did restart and i continued to drive. this has occurred now four times. i have called the dealership and requested an appointment. i informed them what was happening and asked if they have heard of this issue. the man i spoke to stated he had never heard about it before. i found some information online and know this is affecting a ton of people. i bought this vehicle brand new from a nissan dealership and they service it for everything. i am hoping i do not end up having to replace the transmission like so many others on my dime when this is a known issue.

I was driving on the freeway on my way home going about 65mph when my car started making a loud noise and started jerking and lose power then the engine light went on i had to it exit the freeway going only 15mph , i took to the dealer and was told my transmission needed to be replace 3800

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 nissan sentra. while driving approximately 70 mph, the vehicle decelerated to approximately 20 mph and the check engine warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was driven to the contact's residence. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the transmission failed and needed replacement. the vehicle was repaired. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 78,000. the vin was unavailable.

Rattling under the hood, looses power when accelerating. since purchasing this car the car has been jerking and stalling. just started about an hour ago the rattling appears when in gear.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 nissan sentra. while driving 20 mph, the vehicle started to jerk and the power train indicator illuminated. the vehicle was taken to valley hi nissan (15722 valley park ln, victorville, ca 92394, (760) 241-1700) where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 80,000.

Loss of power, transmission jerking fluttering vibrating and clunking noise when accelerating and stopping, rpm spiking real high and car loses power and transmission then jerks and you can not accelerate at higher speeds. transmission flutter and vibrate between 20 mph and 45 mph with seem like a slight power loss. car has 56,000 miles on it and has been to nissan but they can not replicate the issue since it only does it when it wants or has been driven for a real long time. also when it's first started and driven the engine kinda ticks when pressing the gas peddle. and most recently today the car lost power completely and the check engine came on with code p0101. mass overflow sensor code. nissan cleaned throttle body and reprogrammed ecu. car is still experiencing all problems above other than the check engine light is off and the car hasn't lost complete power again but does expensive slight/moderate power loss frequently. it was first serviced at nissan on 7/3/2018 for transmission, and again today 2/22/19 for code p0101 with power loss

I was in motion when all of a sudden my car started to hesitate and not speed up.i can't remember exactly when it happened but it was a few months ago. i have tried to take care of this matter with nissan corporation but they were not helpful and not being cooperative. i also took my car to a transmission specialist near where i live and they stated it is the transmission that went very bad. i no longer have the vehicle in my possession because i refuse to pay an arm and a leg for a faulty transmission that was beyond my control to get it repaired and i was sold a lemon vehicle.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 nissan sentra. while the vehicle was at a stop light, the gear shifter failed to operate without warning. the vehicle was towed to autonation nissan kendall (305-707-0144, located at 17305 s dixie hwy, palmetto bay, fl 33157) where the transmission was replaced. the failure recurred three times and the vehicle was taken back to the same dealer for repairs. the failure recurred and the vehicle was towed back to the same dealer. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. the failure mileage was approximately 30,000.

Cvt transmission failure - the vehicle had been "tugging" and "stuttering" when it had less than 60,000 miles i took in for service before extended warranty expired they said nothing wrong, a few months later while driving on the freeway to work, the rpms began going crazy and the car felt like it was really starting to have trouble changing gears, pulled over and the vehicle didn't want to drive forward or reverse. left it parked at a gas station next to my work.

When i hit 70-80 mph my vehicles rpm's go crazy and transmission starts slipping and bucking. does. it do it during normal day to day 55 mph driving only at the higher speed.

Upon purchasing vehicle new at dealership ran good for first 50000 miles then transmission started acting crazy all dash lights came on and don't turn off then the rpms started jumping up and down not wanting to shift gears took to shop they said they continuously have these cars with this certain transmission constantly breaking down car has 70000 miles on it and i think there should be a recall on these transmissions after looking up these cars o encountered many people with my cars problem

Vehicle stalled when i pressed down on the gas pedal to accelerate. 1 mile before stalling it started to judder when i would come to a complete stop and jerk me forward when i would excelerate from a stop. i turned off my vehicle after it stalled, shifted to park, and turned off the vehicle. when i turned it back on and shifted to drive it accelerated, slower than usual and i was able to park. prior to this incident, i took the vehicle in for the juddering problem 7 days ago and they replaced the cvt control valve.

When driving down the highway going about 60 to 70 mph on the highway the car starts to lose power/gain power and the rpm gauge is constantly going up and down, the dealership i bought the car from (drivetime) i have been back and forth with them for the last 2 weeks and they tell me there is nothing they can do because 2 out of 3 shops said nothing was wrong so i then got a video of what was happening and i sent it in to them like they asked and waited another week just for them to tell me that the next thing to do is what i told them in the begging ' change the transmission fluid' and that they could review it once i send in an invoice. i've paid $2,100 on this car in the month i have had it due to problems and the refuse to reimburse me for anything unless it's in a shop getting more then 8 hours of physical labor. so my car being in and out of 3 shops in a week doesn't count for anything.

When driving i can feel the transmittion slipping. it will do a jerking motion when i pressbthe gas.

The transmission is acting up. the car gets stuck, makes whining noises, can't go uphill, won't accelerate, slows to a complete stop, etc. there were issues with the car prior to it getting this bad. i took is to a nissan dealership several times but it wasn't diagnosed for some reason. it took some time for it to almost completely clunk out.

The car will switch gears when i'm driving. it has happened multiple times - the last time was this weekend when i was traveling. i was driving on the interstate, up a mountain. all of the sudden the car started decelerating as i was going up the mountain. the gear shift caused the car to dramatically slow down and almost caused a multi-car pileup because there was a lot of traffic.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 nissan sentra. while driving various speeds, the vehicle lost power, but did not shut off. also, the rpms decreased. the contact mentioned that the failures occurred after the vehicle had been driven for awhile. the vehicle was towed to a local repair shop where the master air flow was replaced. the vehicle was then towed to michael jordan nissan (3930 durham-chapel hill blvd, durham, nc 27707, (919) 489-3800) where the contact was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failures. the failure mileage was 85,000. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 nissan sentra. while driving 70 mph, the contact heard an abnormal booming noise and the vehicle failed to accelerate and stalled. in addition, the transmission warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was towed to west palm beach nissan (3870 w blue heron blvd, riviera beach, fl 33404) where it was diagnosed that the cv joint needed to be rebuilt. the vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. the manufacturer was contacted and did not assist. the failure mileage was 58,000.

Tamara recall my car started out jerking when changing gears. right when my warranty was out it got a lot worse. i had to pay almost $5000 to replace my transmission bc i was trying to get on the highway and my car wouldn't go even five mph and i had a 18 wheeler coming up on me and almost got hit. it went from jerking and struggling then my rpms were bouncing all over the place then it just quit driving at all in no time. there has been tons of complaints and lots of recalls for other years on this issue and they need to recall this one. it's could have cost me my life! the transmission is bad on nissan sentra! i ended up being able to pull over and prevent my death, thank god! i turned off my car and calmed down then started it up and was able to get off the highway and get it too the shop. now i have been paying in a rental car for over 2 weeks and my car still isn't done! i will never get another nissan! i have kids and this was the scariest thing to me! very unsafe!

I have been to the nissan dealership multiple times trying to figure out why my vehicle loses power randomly and why the car randomly shifts gears and reduces speed even with my foot on the gas. yet while it does this the rpm needle surges between 3000 to 4500. vehicle has no codes and dealership claims they can't reproduce the problem. my car has lost power on a major highway and yet im just suppose to believe the car is safe.i even put in a complaint with nissan corporate and they told me there was nothing they could do because the vehicle does not have any codes.

When driving out of an apartment complex my rpm needle just up to 5000 rpm and wouldn't not accelerate. once on the freeway the rpm needle will fluctuate between 2000 and 5000 rpm before accelerating again. once i got off the freeway and got 2 miles down the road with the same issue the car just stopped accelerating. even when i floor the gas pedal the rpm needle didn't move at all. so while traveling at about 20 mph i have to let the car off the road to a grocery store parking lot and come to a complete stop. i turned off the engine and pulled the key out the ignition and then restarted the car to see if that would fix the problem but it only gave me the ability to accelerate again but still with the same rpm fluctuations as before. this is too dangerous and i have to get my car back to the dealership. i just got an oil change about 2 days prior at 54000 miles

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 nissan sentra. while driving approximately 50 mph on the highway, the vehicle lurched and overheated. the contact had to wait several minutes before the vehicle became operable. the failure occurred without warning. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed as transmission failure. the vehicle was then taken to benson nissan (1100 n pine st, spartanburg, sc) where the transmission failure was confirmed. the dealer advised that the transmission be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified and did not assist. the failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

'takata recall' i brought my car used at 34,000 miles. a little after i brought i took it to nissan because it was stalling and was acting like it wasn't getting any power., while i was on the freeway. they told me they fixed the problem so when my car got to 66,000 miles and a year later it is was jumping, jerking and stalling a lot more. i was at a stop sign driving in to work and my car wouldn't go. so i put it in park and it was acting like it wasn't getting any power to the trans. i had to get out my car and have some co workers help me push it to a parking stall. when i got off work i tried to drive it again and it would only go into reverse. so i had to get my car towed to mossy nissan . so i had it towed to nissan again. i found out that i need a new transmission. i was told that the trans on the sentra are really really bad. also my warranty was up.

I am so disappointed. i bought a brand new nissan sentra not even 6 months after owning this vehicle i had to take it in for repairs for what i am certain was a transmission, well they said there was nothing wrong. few weeks after that same issue so i took it in again and they said oh it's the mass air flow sensor. well a month after that same problem, take it in again and they say oh it's only an oxygen sensor i believe they said and replaced it. well guess what? month later i am driving with my wife and 2 young children ages 11 & 6 on a very busy 4 lane highway suddenly same exact issue car will not accelerate above 35 mph and then stalls out in the middle of the highway causing my family to literally miss getting rear ended by a semi by maybe a foot, again i was nearly certain it's the transmission have it towed there and again they say no, this time it's the throttle body. i have wrote corporate, my local dealer ship and all they keep saying is the warranty is now up, however, if the problem persist the will cover it. i am literally petrified to put my family back in this 🍋 lemon and now it literally sits in my driveway reminding of what a poor brand is. bought the vehicle brand new and for 2 years it's been in the shop half a dozen times or more for the same issue that they keep saying is something else when i am certain it is the transmission, so i am stuck with a lemon and the payments on a lemon that myself nor my wife are comfortable driving for fear of the next close call with a semi becoming reality thanks nissan for refusing to admit it's the transmission and replacing every part in the car but the transmission.

Cvt transmission failed at 76000 miles

After about just a few weeks of purchasing the car, it started shifting harder than it should on occasion, other times it would be fine. then on way home from work on the hwy it stops accelerating so i floor it just to get any speed, then it would accelerate again somewhat normally. did this for about 1 week before i could take to nissan dealership for inspection. they do not find anything wrong with it which was not the case and i knew better b/c while they were checking the car out, they loaned me a car to get back and forth to work and it was essentially the same car, may of been a year newer or older but it was a sentra. this sentra drove so much smoother and i knew mine had an issue then. but they insisted no problem. i had the car back 1 day from them and it starts acting up the same way but worse till it would not accelerate for me at all. like it was dying on me which it did so i had to have it towed back to the same nissan dealership only to have to have a new transmission put in. car had just under 60,000 miles on it and my warranty was fixing to end however it is starting to worry me a little b/c it is acting up again slightly. i fear its the same issue cvt transmission and my warranty is expires. i am very upset b/c i feel like the car is a lemon and i may be stuck with the piece of junk and upside down and too broke to get another car. not fair

Loose cv axle nut causing clicking noise while driving stop and go, shifting.

My car has the cvt and at times you have to really press hard on the accelerator to get the car to select a gear and move. if you ease into the gas pedal to move it's almost as if i am driving my husband's racecar with a stall converter in it. i took it to the selling dealer at only 22,000 miles and they wanted to change the fluid without first even taking it for a ride or explaining why it needed the fluid changed so soon when the manual states 60k.

Cvt issues while driving, rpm kicks up to 4.5, 5 then drops to 3 then 2 then kicks up to 4.5 again with loss of power -- this is while driving on highway. while driving on city street, the rpm with feel as if it gets stuck prior to kicking in to gear after stopping then accelerating again such as at a red light; if i need to speed up quickly for some reason, my car simply will not accelerate unless i mash the pedal to the floorboard and it jerks up rpm then will accelerate.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 nissan sentra. on several occasions while driving, the vehicle stalled and lost power. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was taken to hanless hilltop nissan (3277 auto plaza, richmond, ca 94806, 510-222-4900) where no diagnostic failure codes were found and the failure could not be replicated. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure, but did not offer any assistance. the approximate failure mileage was 30,000.

Revving of the engine due to malfunction of the transmissions, loss of power to the drive shaft constant slipping of the transmission, sometimes loss of power to the6 engine . called nissan usa tp what can be done with the problem since they acknowledged earlier model hard similar problem and nissan extended their warranty to 10 yrs 120000 miles. however they decline an extension in my case, sayi g the problem of the cvt type transmmission has been resolved. however that does not seem to be the case. l see numerous blog online complaining about these type of transmmission-cvt ones similar to the earlier model with the extended warranty given. problem is encountered when im motoion on highway city street. stop and go situation.

Takata recall - car was sold to me by jenkins acura 2025 sw college rd ocala fl 34471 and never took care of this dangerous airbag ps recall. the transmission has gone out on it and it still has a shake at 40mph. there was a arcing of wires for front ds headlight harness. light has been on for passenger seatbelt since i bought the car. transmission went out a day after being at the same acura dealership on friday last week. today is 5/9/17. lemon of a car

Whine noise coming up the hill, dangerous limp mode occasionally out of nowhere, high rpm almost red when changing gears. complaint to dealer they say no codes from system and no recalls yet.

Cvt slips, noisy, hesitation

Tl* the contact owned a 2015 nissan sentra. while driving 35 mph, the contact's vehicle was involved in a crash. the contact stated that the transmission shifted incorrectly and caused the contact to veer off the road into multiple trees. the air bags did not deploy. a police report was filed and there were no injuries. the vehicle was destroyed and towed. bridgewater nissan in bridgewater, new jersey was made aware of the crash. the manufacturer was made aware of the issue. the vin was unknown. the failure mileage was 22,000.

I have gone multiple times to the nissan service department because my vehicle will randomly stop shifting gears. it will be stuck in 3rd gear and will stop accelerating. multiple times i have been on the highway and my car would not go faster than 40mph. i video taped it and showed the mechanic but he said because it wasn't doing it when i took it they couldn't do anything. my check engine light comes on and off randomly also. my car is right out of the manufacturers warranty with 64000 miles. my driver side window is also having problems. the engine is going out. with the issues i am having with accelerating and the gears not shifting i am afraid to drive on the highway because i never know when my car is not going to accelerate.
