Tl* the contact owns a 2011 nissan rogue. while reversing at a low speed, the vehicle jerked and hesitated before moving backwards. the failure recurred on numerous occasions. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated that the continuously variable transmission (cvt) was damaged and diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 72,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 nissan rogue. while driving 70 mph, the vehicle decelerated to 40 mph. the vehicle emitted a noise in the rear before the failure occurred. the contact was able to coast the vehicle onto the road shoulder. the engine light illuminated after the failure occurred. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission failed. the transmission needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified. the failure mileage was 73,347.

Bought this car with 51,000 miles, after two hours driving starting loosing power after any stop, didn't move any direction with all the pedal gas all the way down. took the car to nissan services many times, then changed sensors, transmission and others stuffs, my warranty expired from nissan and from the one i bought on side. and i am still have the problem, now all charges on me. the problem happened any where after 1 o 2 hours driving. i had been in dangerous situation many times. i am planned to stop furthers payments.

I bought a used 2011 nissan rogue in october 2015. on october 28, 2015, after about 2 hours of driving down an interstate, i heard a loud noise. i looked down and saw my tachometer was revved up in the red zone (6) and the car was making a loud, frightening noise as though the engine was about to blow up. i let off the gas and the tachometer stayed at 6. frightened, i pulled over several lanes of traffic and off the road. i turned off the engine and sat there shaking. after about 15 minutes, i turned the car back on and the noise was gone. i pulled back out onto the interstate and the car would not accelerate, which was exceedingly dangerous as there were oncoming semi's approaching at 70+ miles per hour. it slowly picked up speed and i drove 40 mph because if i went faster than that, the tachometer would jump back up into the red zone. i made it to a rest stop where i sat for a half hour with the car off. it happened again in november 2015 on the way to visit my son two hours away. this time, the check engine light came on. the code indicated the car needed a new transmission. it is still happening. the check engine light does not always come on and if it does, it turns itself off in a day or two. i commute two hours to work and back a day and with the warmer (70 plus) weather, the problem has worsened. i have to stop halfway to work and halfway back to let the car cool off. i've also noticed a "stuttering", in which the indicator on the tachometer moves rapidly back and forth around the one and a half mark and the car shakes. this goes away at higher speeds but occurs when i am inching along in stop and go traffic. i took it to a nissan dealer yesterday (6.8.16). we were finally able to duplicate the problem (and got video of the transmission revving up and staying at 5 and the loud noise while losing power down to 20 mph). warranty company refusing to pay so far.

The car suddenly began to shudder when trying to accelerate after a stop in a parking lot. this came out of nowhere. within eight hours the problem became so pronounced that the car had a very difficult time getting into gear and moving forward after coming to a stop. the car shuddered violently trying to get up to highway speed. by the time i got it to the dealer i was informed that the transmission "was shot"

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 nissan rogue. while driving at approximately 75 mph, the vehicle suddenly stalled. after twenty minutes, the vehicle was restarted and operated as normal but the check engine warning light illuminated. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that failure was caused by the transmission fluid over heating and a second cvt cooler kit would need to be installed. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 98,000.

2011 nissan rogue slows and stops suddenly in traffic while driving at 50 mph in center lane. no warning. would not accelerate or move. transmission! thank god other cars swerved to avoid me and the 3 kids in the car were not hurt! it's going to take $4000 to replace the transmission. nissan's extended warranty (10yrs or 120,000 miles) ended with their 2010 vehicles. it needs to be extended to 2011 vehicles or any with cvt transmission problems because they haven't fixed the problem! or nissan needs to recall such vehicles. prevent a loved one from dying! *tr

When we drive our rogue for more than an hour, the transmission stops working and the vehicle loses acceleration. it will happen without warning and is dangerous, especially in heavy traffic on the interstate. if we pull over and let it sit for a minute, it goes back to normal. it is a known problem with the cvt transmissions, but repeated calls to nissan result in being told it happened just after the warranty expired and will cost upwards of $3000 to replace. there have been recalls by nissan for this problem on earlier models, but this seems to be a problem with the 2011 models as well.

Was driving at high speed on the interstate with cruise engaged. cruise would abruptly disengage causing the speed to fall rapidly, and accelerator would cease to work with gas pedal pushed to the floor. would also decrease speed when climbing hills. near collision took place and this is my family car in which i always have two young children with me. this happened on more then one occasion and would result in my having to pull off to the side of the road to turn the car off and reset the vehicle. this problem is going to get someone hurt or killed. problem persisted and left me stranded in an intersection as well. dealer says it's the trans cooler failing to keep the transmission from overheating and needs to be replaced. repair will cost between $1100 and $1300. called consumer affairs at nissan and they have decided it's normal wear and tear on the vehicle that has caused this. this vehicle was purchased brand new four years ago and only has 72,000 miles. that response is unacceptable. had i know the tranny would fail within that time i never would have purchased this vehicle. my recommendation, do not buy a nissan. they do not stand behind their product. all models of rogue before this had their cvt warranties doubled to 120,000 miles because of this problem so why not the 2011? it's the same exact problem! extremely unhappy and will be fighting this. i will be contacting the bbb and my lawyer. if you're having this problem then file a complaint. these vehicles should be recalled. i will never buy another nissan again, and will boycott them till the end of time. poor vehicle, poor service, poor response to consumer's. steer clear if you're smart!

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 nissan rogue. while driving at speeds over 60 mph, the vehicle suddenly jerked before decelerating to approximately 40 mph. when the failure occurred, the speed would not exceed 40 mph. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the transmission failed. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 110,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 nissan rogue. the contact stated that while driving approximately 65 mph and up a steep hill, the vehicle's speed began to decrease and there was a burning odor without warning. the failure recurred each time the vehicle was driven up a steep hill. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and was diagnosed that the transmission had failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired and was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission had failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 64,500. updated 09/18/15*lj the consumer stated the manufacturer provided a $500.00 credit toward the vehicle being repaired. updated 3/23/2016*js updated 11/07/2017*cn

Car did not respond to gas pedal, was on i90 trying to go 60mph with the gas pedal floored and the car was going 20mph. i pulled of the road the engine light went on, when i brought it in it said" torque converter clutch circut intermittent. apparently so many cars have this problem that the part is on "parts restriction" from nissan because the shops can't keep them in stock because so many cars need this part replaced.

I was driving at about 80 mph on a toll road and the car lost power to about 50-60 mph and the motor was like in limp mode for about 25 miles . i stopped for about 10 minutes and when i started driving again it was fine. since then this happens about every couple weeks . dealer says i need a transmission cooler which cost almost $1100 . this car has less than 80,000 miles i don't understand why it would need a cooler unless it is defective .

When transmission get very hot it goes into a fail safe mode in which it does not want to rev or move anymore. this happened more than once and also in the interstate also. very dangerous.

Transmission slips after about 200 miles on long trips. you have to stop and let it cool down before you can go on. sometimes it may take 10-15 mins. sometimes you have to wait over night before driving it.. when it happens the transmission will wind and you lose power with no warning. i caught myself in the middle of jacksonville fl on 95 when it happened i thought i was going to get in an accident.

When the outside temperature is above 90 the transmission fluid gets hot and the car will stop moving forward as the transmission slips. it also rolled backward down my steep driveway as i was trying to drive forward. *tr

Twice now, last august 2014 and june 2015, traveling on highway with cruise control on around 70 mph, vehicle decelerates on its own. gas pedal to the floor, but still losing speed. had to get to next exit and turn vehicle off for few minutes before proceeding. second time it happened, took to nissan dealer. could not replicate problem but recommended a transmission cooling unit be installed at cost of about $1300, with no guarantee this will fix problem. mileage first time it happened was 58,600. second time around 74,000 miles. nissan cvt warranty extension does not include 2011 models. ends with 2010 vehicles, although this vehicle is experiencing same problem as previous years models.

on july 23, 2015, i was driving home at 35 miles per hour and suddenly my vehicle stalled lights flashed on dash board. i turned everything off and attempted to restart it and only heard a trembling noise and clicking of the dashboard. in 1 hour i was able to start the car after getting it jumped. battery was tested by dealer on july 22,2015 right before i purchased my rogue 2011( used). second incident happened in parking lot of a store where i parked to shop on july 31st,2015. i was unable to restart my vehicle until it got jumped again. this vehicle passed all inspections at the dealer and should have no problems with battery, however it is appearing that ipdm is faulty and could cause a crash and even death of my family anytime this happens again while i'm driving this vehicle. please start recall so no one dies due to this problem!

I was on a trip to san diego (via the 5 fwy) on saturday and when i am about 1 1/2 hour into my trip and started to go up an incline the car refused to accelerate (the pedal was all the way to the floor. this was quite scary since there were numerous cars and trucks behind me. i slowly made my way over to the shoulder in order to turn the car off and restart. when i restarted the car i was only able to accelerate to 20 mph to get off the freeway. i even tried putting the car into low gear and turning od on and off but the car did not respond at all. i then puller over for about 1/2 hour then restarted the car. now it was responding to acceleration but the response wad intermittently. the car wasn't driving normal at all. then i finally made it to my destination where the car then set for several hours. when i left to return home the car returned to its normal behavior response. *tr

While stopped at an intersection the car would barley move with the pedal to the floor, i had my 4 year old child with me and traffic had to slow down to let me on the road, this is the 4th time this has happened and the car only has 56,000 miles on it. this has happened on the interstate and speed has decreased with the pedal pushed to the floor and vehicles had to swerve to get around me. *tr

Vehicle was on the interstate( going home after family vacation) going 70 mph when without warning the car would not accelerate, in fact the car dropped down speed rapidly. again without warning we were in the middle of fast moving traffic and could not gain speed. eventually pulling over, letting the transmission cool off. this is a problem with the cars cvt transmission and once it overheats it puts itself into " limp mode" so it doesn't kill itself?this is a huge safety concern and nissan needs to recall this part. i spoke tot he service technician and he says that i need to bring it in to diagnose it even though he is about 99% sure that this is the problem and that nissan will pay to fix it ( i think by putting in a cooler or replacing the trans) but that there are 15 vehicles ahead of me at the current moment and the parts are backordered at least for 3 weeks. nissan further goes to say that a rental car is not an option?how is this a consumers fault? how can nissan get away with this? i live in the mountains and i cannot drive this car and because nissan is backed up on making parts to make their cars work, that becomes my problem? i have asked for a regional specialist and have been assigned a case number but have yet to talk to anyone and this is now going on four days. meanwhile i have an unsafe car that i cannot drive and pay money for every month. this part needs to be recalled so others are informed and no one is caught off guard when your car suddenly doesn't go. *tr

While relocating from md to tn (approx. 11 hours) in july, traveling the interstate vehicle began losing acceleration after about 2 hours of driving. vehicle never stopped not overheated. after brief resting periods (15 mins or more), vehicle's performance improved but never returned to normal. upon arrival to tn, vehicle was checked for clogged fuel injectors and oil/battery levels and functions. all were fine. changed gas from regular to premium to minimize/correct possible problems. a few weeks later, a 3 hour trip was taken and the issue recurred. took the car to carmax where it was purchased and they tried to recreate the issue and had the vehicle all day without duplication. in august, relocated from tn to ga, approximately a 3 hour trip, and the same problem occurred again. took the car to the nissan dealership for evaluation, car was there for almost a month as the root cause was a faulty transmission setting that prevent the vehicle from accelerating if the transmission got too hot. turns out the setting was so low that the above-mentioned problems occurred. i ended up having to have a transmission replaced in a relatively new car (3 yrs old). *tr

Two months prior to burn out, vehicle was taken to local nissan dealership for cvt fluid flush. was not aware of recall until after incident occurred, after contacting nna. also was experiencing loss of power when driving up hills or speeds above 70 mph. i mentioned to dealership, they advised to get cvt tranny fluid flushed and refilled. recall was never addressed to me at previous nissan service visits. nna has denied "product liability." my sister and i were fortunate to make it out of a flaming, rolling fireball. firefighters pinpointed explosion and fire to power steering electric control. vehicle is a total loss and incident is yet to be investigated, insurance currently in beginning phases. be careful in the rogues people!! *js

Going down the interstate at cruising speed with speed control set i noticed that the when climbing a hill we were losing excessive speed and the engine speed would not increase. i disengaged the speed control and manually tried to accelerate and the engine would not increase over 2500 rpms. i immediately tried to exit up an off ramp and could not climb the ramp faster than 10mph. we allowed the rogue to sit for 10 min.'s thinking that is was overheating. when we resumed the trip the rogue was acting normal again. until the return trip when the same thing happened. since then it has happened several times. i took it back to the dealership where they told me that there was a service bulletin concerning this issue, but the 2011 model was not covered. in my opinion any system that disengages the acceleration system while traveling the interstate is a major safety concern. having driven and worked on cars all my life, i have never had one that scared me like this. it is not a comfortable feeling looking in the mirror to see a semi gaining on you and there is basically nothing you can do to get out of the way. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 nissan rouge. the contact stated that after engaging the accelerator pedal, the vehicle failed to move. there were no warning lights that illuminated on the instrument panel. the vehicle was merged to the side of the road, where the contact attempted to engage the accelerator pedal again and the vehicle resumed to its normal operations. the failure occurred on seven different times. the manufacturer was not contacted. the vehicle was taken to the dealer. the technician diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 80,300 and the current mileage was 80,400.

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 nissan rogue. the contact stated that while driving at 40 mph, the vehicle stalled. the contact was unable to restart the vehicle. the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic. however, the contact was unsure about what needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 50,000.

I had been driving approximately an hour in 90 degree weather on the interstate going 65 mph when my nissan rogue lost the ability to accelerate. with the acceleration pedal fully depressed, the car would not accelerate and eventually stopped altogether, causing me to attempt maneuvering around cars going over 70 mph to get to the side of the road. i was almost struck twice. after 20 minutes i was able to start the car again and drive at 40mph to the dealership. i was told today it was an issue with the automatic transmission control module and it would need to be replaced costing me $1000. previous models of the rogue through 2010 had an extended warranty offered for this issue through 120,000 but mine is a 2011 and i was told i have to pay for it myself. i have contacted 1-800-nissan1 and filed a complaint. this is incredibly frustrating and dangerous. *tr

I bought this car in 2013 used with 38000 miles after about 60000 miles i noticed that at a stop light it would not go when i accelerated and after a few seconds it would go, this happened a couple of times. there was no warranty on the vehicle so i purchased a extended warranty. the next incident was when i was driving all of a sudden the rpm's started going real high and then the car slowly lost powe,r at this time i had about 2000 miles left on my warranty took it into the shop where they could not find anything wrong . i continued to drive the vehicle which by now the warranty has expired. the car was getting to the point that when it happened i would have to pull over to the side of the road to wait and after a few minutes it would gain power again, i then took it to nissan where the told me it was my transmission, i took it for a second opinion where they confirmed it was the transmission which they say is crazing for as little miles and being a some what new car. it cost me 2600.00 compared to nissan which wanted 3800.00. the problem i had was that i drive about 84 miles from home to work and it stared to get where i couldn't trust that car. from what i read and was told from nissan is that the altama has very similar problems to where the see a car a day with transmission problems which is not right, why should we consumers get stuck with costly repairs on a fairly new vehicle. my car never had a engine light that came on they only way i knew something was wrong is when the rpm's went real high. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 nissan rogue. while driving 35 mph, the vehicle decelerated after the rpm gauge fluctuated. in addition, the vehicle stalled. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 76,000.

From stop to trying to cross a intersection vehicle stopped accelerating. if another car was coming a loss of acceleration can cause a serious accident. i have seen several complaint for the same issue posted all over the internet. from 2008 to 2013 models. it seems to be a known issue and no recall yet. i hope they do not wait until a death occurs. *tr

This is the situation that happened with my vehical too, the below statement is another persons complaint as well as mine. i have a 2011 nissan rogue but my transmission was installed in oct 2010, i am having the same issues that are happening with the 2010 recall . they are getting the extended warranty and i feel that the 2011 should get the same extended warranty summary: the 2011 rogue is the car we use for longer trips when we're not flying. about two hours into a long interstate trip in may 2013 we started to hear a high pitched whine from the transmission whenever we would accelerate to go uphill or pass another vehicle. shortly after we started hearing that noise the transmission was unable to "downshift" (technically cvts don't downshift) and we lost power. we could still maintain a reasonable speed on level terrain, but we were barely able to maintain speed going over small hills. we would have our foot planted on the accelerator but nothing would happen, acceleration wise. once we'd stop, turn the car off, wait a few minutes, then start the car and get back to driving, everything would be fine. but after a while of extended driving the problem would return. this issue has shown up a few time since then but always during extended driving sessions and never on the day-to-day short commutes, which has made it frustrating to track. in doing a simple google search we found many other rogue owners describing our exact same symptoms, and even someone that posted a youtube video during their problem. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 nissan rogue. while driving at various speeds, the vehicle failed to shift up. although the accelerator pedal was depressed, there was a sudden increase in engine rpms, but the vehicle did not accelerate without warning. the failure recurred numerous times. the vehicle was taken to a dealer, where it was diagnosed that the transmission failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 44,000.

This happens every time i drive more than 50 miles at a time . if i am driving for a long time and slow down my car does not accelerate anymore. i ha e to shut my car off for at least 5 min. before i can start driving again. something is wrong with the power train. it struggles to keep up and almost sounds like the car is going to die. i have taken it to nissan dealerships 3 times before my extended warrently was up and paid $100 every time they told me there was nothing wrong after the hook it up to the computer.

Was driving my 2011 rouge home on a 120 mile trip on the interstate and after about and hour of driving the call suddenly refused to accelerate past 3000 rpm. there was about 20 miles between exists and this became a safety concern while trying to climb an incline; the car decelerated from 70 mph to 45 mph and i could not do enough to get out of the way of other traffic. after 15 miles or so of driving, it returned to normal. it has since occurred 3 more times while driving on the interstate for trips over an hour. i took it to a nissan dealership on 4/21/14 and was told they couldn't do anything because no codes were produced. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 nissan rogue. the contact stated that while driving approximately 20 mph, an abnormal noise was heard from outside of the vehicle as the transmission failed to operate. the vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer, who stated that the transmission would need to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was notified of problem. the approximate failure mileage was 4,106. updated 6/10/14*cn updated 8/23/2017*cn

The transmission started clicking mid-march 2014. i took it into the dealer and was told the transmission needed replacement. the vehicle is a 2011 with 85,000 miles - it should not need a new transmission and is currently out of warranty. the cost of replacement is $3,000. the previous model years 2003-2010 warranty's were increased to 10 years 120,000 miles due to issues with the transmission. it appears to me that the issue was not fixed and warranty's again should be extended for owners of model year 2011 and beyond. nissan should stand by their vehicles and repair and replace when issues arise. *tr

Had been driving on the interstate for 35 minutes. exited the off ramp at a red light so the vehicle was at a complete stop. when the light changed the rogue would not go. i had to shut the vehicle off and start it back up. it seemed to reset itself. had a similar incident in the summer of 2013 when it was 90 degrees drove for 90 miles tried to pass someone on the interstate and could not get it to go over 50 mph when the speed limit is 70. had to pull off and restart the vehicle. very dangerous. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 nissan rogue. the contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle decelerated numerous times and the failsafe mode light illuminated. also, the transmission overheated once causing the transmission fluid to leak. the dealer test drove the vehicle but was unable to duplicate the failure. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 61,000.

We were driving the vehicle on interstate highway at 70 mph. car began bucking, had a high pitched whining and lost all power in acceleration, transmission went out. we immediately dropped to 20 mph. we were almost rear-ended in traffic. had to move to shoulder and have car towed. dealership gave us 800 number to call nissan since the 2008-2010 models have had the same transmission problems. nissan extended warranty on those but refused to extend warranty on 2011 which has the same transmission. the car gave no warning at all. this problem could have caused a serious accident. nissan needs to correct the problem. just read on edmunds.com forum that many nissan rogue owners are having problems with transmission while driving without any warning. *tr

I purchased my 2011 nissan rogue in 2011 brand new. in dec 2013, as i would drive to/from work i felt the car was trying to lower its speed while i kept my foot on the gas pedal. it caused me to slow up traffic. then the car would not let me go higher than 20 mph. i did not know what to of this and took it to a mechanic, they advised me it was the transmission that i would need a new one. so i contact my nissan deal and they fixed it. now july 2015, less than 2 years later with a new transmission at 60,000 miles the power train got worse. as i was driving up a hill there was a red traffic light so i stopped my vehicle. once the light turned green i let go of the gas pedal and pressed on the gas pedal and it did not move. there were a lot of cars behind me and luckily my car did not start to backwards. but i was extremely nervous and felt this defect will be the cause of my first accident. this is extremely dangerous and it should be recalled. when i had my honda it never did this to me and i put on it 100,000 miles. please help!!!

Traveling on interstate from columbia, sc to clinton, sc 2011 nissan rogue began loosing power and would not maintain highway speed when climbing hills. with accelerator pushed to floor vehicle speed dropped from 70 down to 50-55 on inclines. deceleration continued as long as vehicle was on incline. speed increased when vehicle crested hill. pulled over, checked transmission fluid and allowed vehicle to cool. once vehicle cooled problem corrected and we were able to return to columbia. took vehicle to dick smith nissan in lexington sc for repair. dealer was unable to recreate problem and indicated no codes indicated. problem recurred in may 2014 when returning to lexington, sc from charleston. after approximately 45 minutes at highway speed (70-75 mph) problem re-occurred. same symptoms - loss of acceleration on inclines - caused vehicle to drop from traffic and unable to maintain safe speed. pulled over at rest area - checked vehicle. again reported problem to dealer but unable to recreate problem. october 2014 - problem recurred traveling from lexington to atlanta. same symptoms loss of power and speed on uphill grade - unable to maintain highway speed. exited highway at augusta after 1 hour on interstate. when tried to turn left from stop off of exit ramp -pushed accelerator - vehicle started forward and then lost power in intersection blocking two lanes of cross traffic. vehicle crept through intersection very lucky we were not struck by cross traffic. plan to return vehicle to dealer again. *tr

While going between 75-80 mph for between 100-125 miles, the car would not hardly go, had to slow down and get off the interstate, cut the car off for a few minutes, and then it seemed okay, this is the third time this has happened while traveling for extended periods of time on the interstate at higher speeds, something really needs to be done about this, it started at 30000 miles, very dangerous! *tr

Car will stop accelerating after driving for 45-60 minutes. loud whining noises constantly. nissan has replaced the alternator and the serpentine belt and it still happens. i have taken the car back more than 8 times and they will not fix it!! please help! i've almost been hit more than 5 times with my two children in the car because of these issues.

On numerous occasions when trying to accelerate the car will lose power to the point it almost fills as if it will shut off. usually happens when starting off on a grade or slowing for a turn then pushing the gas pedal. the car also shudders and feels like it chugging or wobbling along, as if the road it lumpy. i have seen numerous complaints on the issue, but no recall or service bulletins have been issued. when it almost completely loses power its very scary, as it has happened while trying to merge onto the interstate. i have a young child and it has put us both in danger more than once since buying the car used in july 2013. *tr

2011 rogue, 40,000 miles 2 days ago, problems started with acceleration. specifically from a stopped position. and when on a hill, or at a freeway ramp it won't accelerate at all, even when pushing driving pedal all the way down to the floor.( rpm does not go up) if i able passing the 15 miles speed everything is release and the car drive normal. i leave in an uphill and i had to plan my way to the dealership on sat, after visiting the dealer, everything was temporarily fix, a day after here we go again. i'm planning to call the dealer now. *tr

While traveling on a toll road, speed limit 80, my car lost power after traveling about 45 minutes. pressing on the accelerator resulted in the car still loosing power. it did not matter how much you pressed the accelerator, the car still slowed down. it happened again on july 17, 2013. traveling the same road. in addition, when i got off the highway and came to a stop at a stop sign, i pressed the accelerator and the car did not go at first. then the car slowly moved forward. i have googled this problem and have found many who have experienced the same thing. i also spoke with an employee at an oil changing business who said he had a customer last week with the same problem with her nissan. it was reported that nissan told her the sensor was doing its job and she would have to pull over after driving for an hour, shut off her car, wait 10 minutes, then proceed. that would clear the sensor and the car would drive normal again. really! *tr

The 2011 rogue is the car we use for longer trips when we're not flying. about two hours into a long interstate trip in may 2013 we started to hear a high pitched whine from the transmission whenever we would accelerate to go uphill or pass another vehicle. shortly after we started hearing that noise the transmission was unable to "downshift" (technically cvts don't downshift) and we lost power. we could still maintain a reasonable speed on level terrain, but we were barely able to maintain speed going over small hills. we would have our foot planted on the accelerator but nothing would happen, acceleration wise. once we'd stop, turn the car off, wait a few minutes, then start the car and get back to driving, everything would be fine. but after a while of extended driving the problem would return. this issue has shown up a few time since then but always during extended driving sessions and never on the day-to-day short commutes, which has made it frustrating to track. in doing a simple google search we found many other rogue owners describing our exact same symptoms, and even someone that posted a youtube video during their problem. https://www.google.com/search?q=rogue+transmission+loses+power+long+trips&oq=rogue+transmission+loses+power+long+trips http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jl3jgbtuis8 http://townhall-talk.edmunds.com/webx?14@@.f213d8f/0 http://forums.nicoclub.com/loss-of-power-going-uphill-cvt-t578775.html. *tr

For a few days i had noticed a shutter in my car as it accelerated. really since i had bought the car it had vibration problems. i was driving about 65 mph on the freeway and got on a ramp to merge onto another freeway. when i slowed to merge into traffic, i could not accelerate when pressing the gas pedal all the way to the floor. the rpm gauge went up to around 4,000 but the speed of the vehicle would not go above 15 - 20 mph. because of this, i almost got hit by a truck that was in the distance of the stright lane that i merged into. i pulled in front of him but could not go anywhere and he was forced to make a quick swerve into another lane to avoid me. the internet is full of videos and complaints from other nissan rogue owners that are havin the exact same problems. my car does have a lot of mileage as i travel about 1,200 miles per week for my job as a territory manager. however, that only means that all this mileage is highway miles and has not put much pressure on the transmission. the other owners are experiencing the same issue at anywhere from 6,000 to 60,000 miles. nissan has doubled their warranties on the cvt transmissions because of the problems that they have experienced. however, by the time i got mine to the dealership the warranty had expired. i was never notified that the warranty on the transmission had been extended by nissan or i would have noticed that i had a problem. now they have changed parts in the new transmissions but will not admit to their problems in the old ones or do anything to help out owners who are experiencing these problems. somebody will be seriously injured or killed in an accident if this issue is not resolved by nissan. how can you put this transmission in cars knowing about the problem and not issue a recall? they are a serious threat to other vehicles. please issue a recall for 2008-2011 models. thanks.

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 nissan rogue. while driving at 70 mph, the vehicle lost power and failed to accelerate. the failure recurred numerous times. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. however, the failure recurred. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 82,000.

When driving the car suddenly loses power, and does not accelerate. if i am going up a hill or hump, the car will stall. at times, have to find an alternate route when driving because the car will fail to accelerate. i am afraid to travel on major highways where there are hill or elevated areas because the vehicle will suddenly not accelerate. i must drive sometimes with my hazard lights because the brake lights often fail to come on. *js
