The timing chain guides (teflon based material) in the vq35 engines were prematurely causing audible rubbing and banging upon start up and early warm up idle conditions. this premature wear of the tension guides is a safety hazard due to the fact that the timing chain has undo slack from early degradation of tension guides which may cause the timing chain to wear/break prematurely and without warning while driving at highway speeds. this would cause the engine to shut down unexpectedly. *tr

Last year, the engine stopped while driving. dealer replaced cpu and told me rats caused the damage. now, service engine light turns on. searching on the internet showed that the engine control module that is mounted under the wiper gets wet, becomes corroded, and the car looses control. who knows what is going to happen next. *tr
Tl *- the contact called regarding a 2005 nissan quest. the contac had major repairs done in december 2007. the nissan dealer took the engine apart to replace the timing belt. since then when the heater was on and the vehicle stopped the heater fan will stop working, and he heard a humming noise. once he resumed driving he heard a clicking sound on the driver's side and then on the passenger side, then the heat will start working again. the contact stated that had not happened before the repair service. the contact stated that a mechanic at nissan looked at the vehicle and said that it was suppose to do that. *ak
