Problems with 2013 Nissan Pathfinder POWER TRAIN

On average, the 2013 Nissan Pathfinder starts to “feel” problems with the POWER TRAIN and its various aspects after 20 124 miles.

Recently reported POWER TRAIN problems on 2013 Nissan Pathfinder

While stopped at a 4-way stop intersection, our pathfinder did not move when the gas pedal was pressed. the transmission was replaced at 4,000 miles because of shuttering/shook like it was going to fall apart. *tr

When i first purchased the vehicle my husband immediately began saying something was wrong with the transmission the problem got worse as time went by. taking off from a stopped position it would stall before taking off. then it started shuttering after take off. then escalated to shuttering while driving down the road at speeds between 20-30 usually when i was in the school zone taking my kids to school. after several attempts nissan finally decided to replace the transmission. i have a baby as well as two other children that are in this vehicle everyday. once the transmission was replaced it started having a problem at any speed where it felt like the motor was going to jump out of the vehicle which jerked my children and scared them. i m also noticing more and more problems with it not wanting to go into gear. i have also had a problem with the back hatch coming open at various times for no reason. one day i walked out of work to find that it was open the doors to the vehicle were still locked. on another occasion i found the back hatch open and it had rained all night and the neighbor strays had slept in my vehicle all night again the doors were locked. no one had touched my keys so no reason for how it keeps mysteriously coming open. the previous pathfinder i had would let down the front windows at various times for no reason. said it was a safety feature...didn't seem very safe to me to come out of a store to find my windows down. unfortunately cant trade it in because i would be too upside down. i know it will cost a lot to recall and fix all of these but how does that compare to the cost of peoples lives. headed to nissan again saturday to see what they say about the transmission this time. *tr

Since purchasing the 2013 pathfinder, problems are relentless. liftgate sticking and rubbing. broken door handles, driver and passenger. bolt falling out of alternator while driving. airbags not working properly. now for the past few months a shudder/vibration which happens intermittently. usually at low speeds when turning or accelerating. brought to dealer in 2/14 and needed reprogramming. started happening again, brought to dealer was told they can't duplicate so there is nothing they can do. happening again now on 5/6 and there is no answer. afraid car will stall out in intersection causing a major accident. same issue happening to tons of people, yet no response from nissan. *tr

There is a sudden juddering shake that lasts about 4 to 6 seconds driving around 25 miles per hour. i have experienced the shaking during turns and upon hills the transmission feels like driving a stickshift and you finally feel the gear kick in and the after making it uphill or stopping uphill. vehicle drives smooth again. my girls are very scared with the shaking i have left my vehicle at the dealership pending a fix/solution. *js

Hello, we bought this pathfinder in march 2014. i was driving and i slowed down to turn into a parking lot. when i turned and gave it some gas. the engine and transmission was not working correctly. the pathfinder started sputtering, shaking and loosing power. i have been doing research on the 2013 nissan pathfinders. my research has come across that the nissan motor company know there has been a problem with 2013 pathfinders. and they have yet to put out a recall to fix the problem. i continue to drive with the shuddering, shaking and looking power. on 5/28/2014 i was coming home from work and slowed down and i thought the transmission fell out. i also lost power. it scared me. so i believe that some one needs to look into this problem. because i think nissan is not concern. *tr

I purchased the vehicle in july 2013. in august 2013 i began to notice a skipping/chugging sensation at a low speed and which seemed to only when going around corners at the time. i called that august the vehicle was inspected by nissan. when it was brought in they told me they could not duplicate what i had described. the skipping/chugging sensation continued throughout the next several months. i again brought the car back to nissan in december for the same issues. however the skipping/chugging had got far worse, in occurrences and intensity. at this time the technician at nissan was able to reproduce the skipping/chugging told me that it was "skipping on ice". i explained to the service department it had been ongoing and that i did not believe that skipping on the ice. i was told that it would be logged into the system and they would have note of it. the skipping/chugging has continued throughout the winter. the intensity is far worse, and occurs each time i am accelerating the vehicle between 5-25/30mph. i have also experienced power failures when getting out of the car. the car will turn off then turn on its own, then take multiple attempts to shut it off. i brought the car back to nissan on april 7, 2014. once again, they were able to reproduce the issue. this time telling me that my transmission in my vehicle is failing. at this point i am waiting to hear back if they will replace the parts of the transmission that is failing, or the entire transmission. *tr

Vehicle stalls on hills and has bad mileage and hesitates. this has happened on several occasions. it has been checked in dallas, tx and now twice in el paso, tx. the last inspection was a recall and all i was told was it may need a new transmission. it has gotten worse and now hesitates on hills and is very sluggish. it stalls while taking off on hills. very dangerous.... all i have received is lip service. please contact asap.

The first time i experienced this issue i was stopped for a red light. it felt like someone had rear-ended my car. since there was not a car behind me i ruled that out. shortly after, the car started to hesitate and lurch. i took the car to a dealer and called nissan consumer affairs. the bottom line was that the transmission was replaced. that, however, did not solve the problem. we continue to have the same kind of occurrences. i understand that i am not the only one with a lurching car. doesn't nissan know how to fix this? *tr

Transmission shudders / judders at light acceleration during low speed. i took my vehicle to dealership on 3/19/2014 with only 2450 miles on it. their technician confirmed that this is a known problem of 2013 pathfinder but nissan does not have a proper fix. he also said that i was the third customer complaining this problem on that day alone. he reprogrammed the tcm. however, transmission shuddering continues. it is getting worse and more frequent. nissan needs to admit this problem and recall all vehicles with this transmission! *tr

While turning in traffic vehicle shutters and loses power. also loses power while moving 25-30 mph in stop and go traffic. took the vehicle to nissan after it only had approximately 400 miles on the odometer and they replaced the transmission and torque converter. after about a two weeks the vehicle started having the same problems and i took it back in. they have now had my vehicle since 3/31/14 and is still currently at the shop as of 4/25/14. nissan service manager stated its a problem that he feels nissan has yet to sort out. this is a safety issue and i hope you will step in and make nissan accountable for this problem. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 nissan pathfinder. the contact stated that the vehicle failed to accelerate intermittently. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where the failure was unable to be determined. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 35,000.

Driving car between 20 miles car will start to be make noise and it's like going of railroad tracks and it loses speed. nissan is replacing transmission. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 nissan pathfinder. while driving approximately 25 mph, the transmission began to jerk and slip gears. the failure recurred whenever the vehicle was in operation. the vehicle was taken to the dealer and repaired under a manufacturer's voluntary recall related to reprogramming the transmission control unit. in addition, the front and rear passenger side wheel bearing were replaced on two separate occasions. the front and rear brakes were also replaced. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 8,000.

When you roll up to a stop sign or an area that requires you to yield, when you begin to start climbing in speed, the entire vehicle shakes. when you let your foot off the gas it stops. if you push your foot further down (accelerating ) it stops. also, when you are in over drive, it occurs more often than not. i have contacted the dealer. however, because this issue does not arise when needed, there has not been any instances available for the technicians to witness which therefore, they can not diagnose it, nor is there a check engine light. *tr

We bought a new nissan pathfinder 2013 in june 2013 - we love the car but we started to experience hesitation upon acceleration in certain situations. we reported it to the dealer during a visit to replace a warranty issue, the dealer said there was nothing wrong but they were able to replicate it once. later on when we noticed it again, we took the car back and this time it was at the dealer for 8 days. we experience hesitation, slight jerking with the car when driving on slow speed. well, a week after we took it back from the dealer while driving back home we experienced this violent jerking and hesitation, the car loses power, picks up, loses power and so on for a stretch of 40-50 feet on the road or for around 4-5 second of driving. myself, my husband and two kids were shocked when we felt the car jerking and how noticeable it was! it's not something i experience every time i drive the car, but this is not a safe drive. in this one particular incident, i didn't know what to do, press on the gas peddle or slam the break! if i was driving in heavy traffic (which i do for my commute every day) or driving on icy roads, i would have probably ended up in an accident. the dealer seems to know the problem exists, but insists on a computer reading while the car is experiencing the issue and states that if there are no lights on from the computer or no alerts from the sensors then the car is functioning fine. honestly, i'm not comfortable driving this car anymore. what if this problem has no sensor to monitor it? this is really scary that i'm driving a car that i thought was safe when i bought it, even worse, with my kids in the car, i feel like i'm driving at the mercy of the car and the cvt and hoping that when it randomly happens again, i'm not driving near a lot of cars and ending up in an accident! *tr

Two problems: 1. brand new 2013 nissan pathfinder. front windshield wipers completely stopped working twice. dealer fixed them the first time under warranty, but they have stopped again, leaving us stranded in a snow storm. 2. the vehicle lurches and shakes under acceleration, especially around 20 mph. something is wrong with the transmission. i have read online about it but people caution against bringing it in as the fixes either didn't work or made it worse. i am very concerned this vehicle is going to require major repairs somewhere down the road, likely outside of the warranty coverage. *tr

Bought this vehicle advertised as "new" however started having multiple issues within the first few days. the fuel gauge would read "0" miles regardless of how much the fuel tank was filled, and the transmission started slipping the 4th day. i would be driving along at anywhere from 30-55 mph when this would happen. took it back to the original dealer for repair, who refused to put it in the shop and check it out, so i took it to another dealer who said that they were unable to reproduce the defects in the shop. i took it back multiple times for the same issues and they ended up putting more mileage on the vehicle than i did in the first 3 weeks with continuous "inability to reproduce results," however, as soon as i would leave the shop to go home the transmission would slip and the car would decelerate almost to a stop and then lunge again when it would kick back in. the fuel guage continued to read zero at fill ups, very frustrating. i called nissan consumer affairs with no real progress. the dealer refused repair printoffs as well, so i really don't know what they did to the vehicle while it was in the shop. *js

At 30 miles the car starter jerkings and shudder loose power shaking a lot have to pull over for not have an accident take the car to the dealer to issue the problem for 3 times already, fix the torque converter, reprogram the computer, the last time i took it to the dealer they did it find nothing wrong but the problems is there, can't be with this car all my life like that, nissan have to find the problem to fix this. *tr

While driving at a slower speed on the parking lots, around my neighborhood streets and on turns when the vehicle speed in less than 25 mph and when the rpm is between 600 and 1200, the vehicle slows down, shudders and shakes as if the transmission was going out. this happens for 4-5 seconds. i have seen this happen more often when i slow down on the parking lots or on the neighborhood streets. at that time the vehicle acts as if the it is having issue shifting down and just shakes/shudders. i have taken the vehicle to a nissan dealer multiple times but still the problem has not been corrected. the first time i took it, the dealership told me that there was a bulletin out from nissan and they knew what to fix and they claimed they fixed it but the issue resurfaced after few hours. the second time i took the vehicle to the dealership, they told me they could not reproduce the issue! nissan needs to carefully investigate and fix this serious safety issue. *tr

Sudden lose of power on accelerator for about 4-5 seconds on low speed. it is very dangerous situation as i could possibly struck by another vehicles from behind. *tr

A major failure condition can occur in early model 2013 nissan pathfinders. the coolant line to the cvt transmission can detach and drain without warning disabling movement of the vehicle if not double clamped. this happened to our vehicle while eating at a restaurant but could have happened anywhere. this should be considered a serious safety hazard particularly in areas with extreme cold conditions such as northern and central ny where we live. we were lucky but others could be stranded without warning during very dangerous weather conditions. a simple recall to double clamp the hoses could help prevent any such incidents. *tr

Tried to pull up my inclined driveway, could not depress the brake pedal right away. even it finally gave, and i put the car in drive and hit the accelerator, the car would not move. i kept pushing the accelerator, and the transmission finally engaged and the car shot forward really fast. took it to the dealer on 12/31 and the diagnosed the transmission as bad and said it needed replaced. still in the shop a week later. also, the hood rattles at highway speeds. dealer service department can't fix it. *tr

I had just started off after making a turn from a red light and the vehicle started shuttering real bad and felt like it was in the rear end. this was just the first time of many times. it still does it to date. i bought this vehicle brand new from mercer nissan in lufkin, texas on december 21, 2013 and i am going to file a complaint against them also. i still have the stupid vehicle because i am too upside down to get rid of it. i have already had the transmission replaced which took them 11 months before they decided to do that. i have also had all the new software downloaded and other parts replaced. i am still told if they can't duplicate it they can not fix it. so i am stuck with a 2013 nissan pathfinder that i wouldn't pay two cents for if i had it all to do again. i am being told that if others are not complaining a recall will not be issued. this vehicle is not worth the money i paid for it. i also read where the 2014 pathfinders are doing the shuttering also. i believe it is time to find a good lemon law lawyer. *tr

Was parked at stop light and proceeded when green and transmission failed to engage to 2nd gear. pulled off the road and put car in park. put back in drive and tried to proceed and transmission jerked back and forth between 1st and second gear, but did finally transition to second gear. *tr

On three different occasion, while driving i get a lost of power, even though, my feet is on the accelerator..this last for about seven to eight seconds. when making turns sometimes, at slow speed, the car shudder. *tr

Nissan been selling this suv knowing that the tramission is defective. the engine big bang sometime it jerk back and fort. finally it blow out at 29700 mile. it was replace by warranty, but with recondition one. the vehicle should be recall for the transmission . it not safe on the road. how long will the recondion transmission last?this is $ 41000 dollar truck i paid $ 37500 out the door . beware of buying cvt transmission everyone.

Purchased new 2013 pathfinder and within the first week noticed a shudder in the transmission, however it was an isolated and didn't think it was an issue. as time has passed this has gotten more and more frequent. then recently with only 2000 miles on the car, we were making a left turn the car shuddered and felt like it was going to stall, and car would not accelerate past a few mph. this being highly concerning from a safety standpoint prompted us to take the car into the dealer. dealer looked over car said they were to reprogram the tcm as this is a known issue. after reprogramming dealer could not duplicate issue and told us that was all that could be done until they could personally duplicate the issue. nissan dealership said they have owners on their 2nd and 3rd transmission and no permanent fix. the car has since shuddered and lost acceleration three times in the 24 hour period since dealer returned car. after much research it appears to be a known issue for over a year and for nissan to continue to sell a knowingly defective and unsafe car should illegal. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 nissan path finder. the contact stated that while driving approximately 40 mph, the vehicle began to lose power. the failure recurred intermittently. the vehicle was taken to a dealer, who updated the software but the failure recurred. the vehicle was taken back to the dealer where the mechanic diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the problem. the vin was not available. the approximate failure mileage was 15,000.

I purchased my pathfinder in july 2013 and have had 2 issues. the first is a sputtering with the gas pedal which occurs quite frequently under low speeds. took it in for evaluation and nissan said that's how cvt transmissions work and that it was normal. very strange. the second issue i am currently having is the most concerning. while traveling at various speeds, when i push on the gas pedal there is no power at all and no acceleration. at times the pedal can be all the way to the floor and then 2 to 3 seconds later the acceleration comes back. it has happen to me in a passing situation on the freeway and while making a turn at an intersection and almost caused an accident. the car is currently in service to be evaluated and they have said unless they can replicate the issue on their end they have no solution, i have 3 kids that ride in the vehicle on a daily basis and this is a huge safety concern from a consumer standpoint. i have documented with nissan consumer affairs in case something happens as a result of this, but i must say as this car was a huge investment for my wife and our family we are extremely concerned and disappointed because we love the car so much and wouldn't expect this from a brand new vehicle. i have read a high number of common issues just like mine and i just don't get how nissan has not done anything about this. it seems as if the 2013 model has a number of issues. *tr

Intermittent transmission shudder ranging from mild to violent with accompanying decrease of power. shudder primarily occurs at low speed in the 20-40 mph range but has also occurred at highway speeds when transmission is not shifting. shudder seems to be caused by a variety of variables including speed and degree of inclination of the road. loss of power has occurred in potentially dangerous passing situations. *tr

While turning left, the transmission began to shutter and the vehicle lost power for 2-3 seconds. passenger airbag off indicator intermittently comes on with passenger in seat. *tr

I purchased a 2013 nissan pathfinder the day before thanksgiving (2013). almost immediately, i noticed a shudder (jutter) when accelerating from low speeds. the car loses power during acceleration and a strong vibration/shaking (shudder) is felt. i returned the car to the service department and was told that the transmission had to be reset. less than one week after this procedure (dec. 2013) was done the shudder returned. in jan. 2014 the service department replaced the torque converter. by feb. the shudder had returned yet again. as of april 19, 2014 the car continues to shudder upon acceleration and has yet to be repaired because the service computer only shows "minor" error codes and technicians have been unable to duplicate the severe shudder. the vehicle is unsafe to drive as it loses power upon acceleration. this is my 3rd purchase from nissan. i have a tremendous amount of money invested in this vehicle and nissan refuses to correct the problem. i have filed a complaint with nissan, have an open case, but have been unable to speak with the representative because her workday is over promptly at 5 pm and mine is not. i have tried to contact her two dozen times, but my calls go straight to voice mail. it is clear that nissan has a problem with the cvt transmission used in the 2013 pathfinders and that they do not stand behind their product. what is it going to take to get nissan to address this issue? do people have to be hurt or killed because of these defective transmissions, or is going to take a congressional investigation (like gm?) to get nissan to work with its' owners and correct this problem? why are these vehicles still being sold? nissan continues to sell these vehicles with defective transmissions to unsuspecting customers who will be burdened with unsafe vehicles which have diminished values with virtually no recourse against this automotive giant. *tr

Often times while accelerating from a stop, or after a turn, i will step on the gas pedal and feel the car shudder, or hesitate. *js

We purchased a new 2013 nissan pathfinder on approx 6/2013 and now have 10,000 miles on it. the last few weeks we have been noticing at slow speeds approx 25 mph we are experiencing a shudder in the transmission. it is happening fairly consistent now at 25mph and under a load like a slight incline. it requires a release of the throttle and reapply to get the shudder to stop and start pulling again. this is a potentially very dangerous situation if you are crossing oncoming traffic and have to release the throttle, not a good thing! i am now reading of many other owners who are experiencing the same type issue and there are now 4 service bulletins relating to transmission issues on this vehicle and they are not fixing the problems. i am schedule for my first appointment next week to address this issue. we have been a very faithful nissan owner of 3 prior nissans, but this will be my last! *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 nissan pathfinder. when the ignition was turned to the on position and the front passenger seat was occupied by an adult, the passenger side air bag off warning indicator illuminated. also, when the vehicle was shifted to the park position, the vehicle rolled away without warning. the contact had to engage the emergency brakes in order for the vehicle to stop. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was not diagnosed or repaired. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign numbers: 16v380000 (exterior lighting) and 16v244000 (air bags); however, the parts to do the repairs were unavailable. the contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repairs. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. the failure mileage was approximately 10,000. parts distribution disconnect.

Nissan pathfinder 2013 platinum premium was purchased by me in the middle of july 2013 from nissan dealer at rt. 440, jersey city, new jersey. after driving the vehicle for about 2000 miles in a period of 3 month, the vehicle started shuddering and slowing down (decelerating) of its own. this problem became frequent. the dealer has been contacted and requested for addressing the issue but to no avail. we have made at least three visits to the dealer requesting to find the fault and resolve but to my amazement, they could not diagnose the problem and put the machine right. i am really afraid to use this vehicle for fear of breakdown or accident while in operation. it is almost a year, i possess the vehicle and the mileage i put is less than 4000 till date. i would appreciate if your good office communicate the drawbacks to the nissan usa corporate office and advise them to take steps to address the issues relating my vehicle. Vehicle juddering while traveling at low speed, it feels like it going to stall. nissan is aware of the problem but they say they can't recreate. they called in to mossy nissan in national city, ca to test drive the car with the foreman of the shop, and the problem recurred, he felt it, but we didn't have the computer hook up to the car diagnostics. i took the car back in for the same thing, i left the car there for 2 days and hey said they couldn't duplicate it. also it has a coolant leak that has not been fixed after 3 times. they smell it but can't find the problem. *tr

Shortly after taking ownership, we felt a shaking of the vehicle when making turns or when slightly accelerating/stopping (like when stuck in traffic) at low speeds. generally happens at 18 mph but anywhere from 15-25 mph. the vehicle will shake for a couple of seconds. dealer acknowledged issue, performed software update which didn't resolve the issue. we requested the recording device to be installed to capture the judder for nissan corporate satisfaction, unfortunately the recording device was faulty and was unable to record anything. we are waiting for the dealer to fix the device, however the juddering is still occurring and i often feel unsafe in this vehicle. nissan knows exactly what is happening but is not making it easy for the dealer to fix as they want the judder recorded. the dealer tech's know it's happening on our vehicle, yet we can't get any resolution. *tr

When getting to a stop or a yield, as soon as i would accelerate, my vehicle would shake. a noticeable and violent shake where my young daughter would get scared in the back seat. i would then let my foot off and the shaking would stop and the vehicle would still move slow. i would then accelerate again. most of the time the vehicle would move normal but a few times the vehicle would again shake. i took my vehicle in november and i was told that a bulletin was address to all dealership and that my vehicle was re-program and that no shaking should happen again. but it did. it happened about a week after leaving the dealership. i took my vehicle again on 02/28/2014 and i was advised that my vehicle was going to need a transmission replace on my new 2013 nissan pathfinder. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 nissan pathfinder. the contact stated that while driving 10 mph, the vehicle began to shutter. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection where they stated that the transmission needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred several times. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 65,000. *tr

While making turns from side streets into main roads trying to accelerate and merge into oncoming traffic the car will briefly accelerate then power will drop out, rpm's will jump to 4000-5000 with no acceleration leaving me in the main road with no power to accelerate and stuck at between 25-35 mph. only way to correct problem is to hit the brakes and re accelerate. this has almost caused several accidents and has happened multiple times. *tr

Purchased this vehicle in march 2013. since purchase experienced numerous times transmission problem that manifests itself as vehicle shuddering when trying to make turn at low speed or from complete stop. this also happens when trying to accelerate to go onto highway, vehicle would shudder and can not accelerate until foot is taken from the gas pedal and gas pedal pressed again. i brought this to nissan usa attention and spoke to the dealership several times. vehicle was evaluated at the dealership service center and we were notified that the problem can not be duplicated. i tried to explain to the technician that in order to duplicate problem this vehicle have to be driven for several days if not weeks on daily basis since sometimes problem happens every three days, sometimes it happens three, four times a day. i have a feeling nissan is trying to hide serious flaws in the design of their new pathfinder and it is simply refusing to take care of problems. this is serious safety issue and i hope we will not wait until someone dies in the accident until nissan takes necessary steps to fix their cvt transmission. *tr

Driving along at a relatively slow pace around 45 mph the transmission shook and shudders. it feels like going over rumble strips. the vehicle has done this multiple times this weekend at 25 mph and at 45 mph. the vehicle is 2.5 months since purchased new. it has been to the dealer for this issue 500 miles ago. the transmission was replaced with a factory remanufactured transmission and is starting to do the exact same problem it had prior to the replacement. nissan had the vehicle for 23 days to replace the trans and additionally had the vehicle for 3 days to repair the a passenger air bag seat sensors when it failed during the delivery. nissan is aware of the problems with the pathfinder transmissions that the buyers are having and continue to sell these vehicles to the consumers. this was a very expensive purchase and the expectations were high. those expectations have been lost nissan has refused to refund the purchase price to me or replace the vehicle. this is my second report to nhtsa. my first odi was 10547158. i have sought legal counsel. in my opinion nissan is negligent in selling these vehicle when they are aware of them having these problems with the transmissions and they have no fix that adequately solves the issue. i will return the vehicle to the dealership. this is not right that a brand new vehicle has to go back to shop for more downtime after already being out of service for 26 days out of the first 45 days of ownership. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 nissan pathfinder. while driving approximately 55 mph, the transmission began to hesitate excessively in a jerking motion. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where the transmission computerized system was reprogrammed. the failure recurred after the repair. on a separate occasion, the transmission failed to operate while driving. the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, but was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 5,000.

I bought a 2013 nissan pathfinder 5/13/13. in november, i felt some vibrations when i would accelerate after slowing down to make a turn. this is now what they refer to as the "shudder" it has continue to get worse. at my service appt i brought it to the attention of the service tech after my oil change, he said it may be because my car was in "auto instead of 2wd" also there was a recall on the abs so they would do reprogram and that would more than likely fix the issue. he said it shouldn't be a big deal and if it continues acting up to let him know at my next oil change. the next time i was due for a service i was forced to go to a different dealership so i asked the service tech if he was familiar or had any other complaints... he acted clueless. so 2/26/14 it was acting up very bad, i was forced to go to gastonia because of my job and so i made an appt at the gastonia, nc dealership (which is where i purchased the car). i could not get it to duplicate. went back to statesville dealership 3/3/14, they did the reprogramming that they said would hopefully fix it, if not they would go to next step which is to replace the torque converter or cvt. the next day, 3/4/13, my car acted up worse than it ever has. i called right then and he said bring it in so we can order parts. after waiting 1.5 hours, they told me they could not duplicate i would have to bring to drop off. scheduled appt to leave for 3 days, took it in after it being there one day they called and said i needed to drive it with tech to duplicate. i drove around for an hour it would not act up. i told them i would leave it, until i spoke with nissan about what to do. it happens randomly and of course it wont happen when its at the dealership. nissan is fully aware they have an issue and needs to step up and resolve the problem rather than putting nissan loyal customers through a nightmare! *tr

I recently bought a new 2013 nissan pathfinder- at first the rubber seals flew up while driving on the interstate- my right side panel sticks out by the headlight (in which they told me i must have been hit because there were a few scratches under the bumper and that's the design(what a bunch of crap) main concern is the sputtering that i encounter while driving. i paid too much for this vehicle and every dealer i take it (taking it 3 times) tell me nissan requires the data from the computer to diagnose. you can look on the computer and see how many people have the same issue and every dealership drives my car for miles and wastes my gas - to come back and say....sorry i believe you but i need the data and at this time its not doing it(sorry call consumer affairs). this is my first nissan and i am heated... how can a company do this to its consumers who spend a good amount of money on their product that has alot of defects. nissan needs to do whats right and take care of their customers- i promise if this sputtering happens and causes me an accident with my children in the car - there is going to be heck to pay!!!! i bought this car because i wanted a safe reliable vehicle... i am so frustrated!!!! *tr

1. while attempting to leave a school parking lot (going in a straight line with other parents' cars) at 10 mph the engine shuddered and the vehicle jerked back and forth as if it transmission couldn't engage power to the wheels. the shuddering stopped after a couple seconds and i was able to leave the school parking lot safely. (vehicle has shuddered while driving straight three times in the last month.) 2. pulled into a roundabout at 15 mph and the engine shuddered, jerking the pathfinder back and forth. when exiting the roundabout at nearly 20 mph the vehicle shuddered again for a couple seconds, but this time it was not a violent -- it only vibrated the vehicle. (vehicle has shuddered while turning at least 12 times in the last month.) 3. after turning right onto a straight street and trying to accelerate, the engine felt as if half the power were taken away. the engine revved up, but the acceleration was weak. (this has happened twice in a month.) *tr

Brought pathfinder into get serviced october 30, 2013 at 5,604 miles as the car was shuddering when accelerating. dealership had car and reprogrammed the transmission. on november 8, 2013, we brought the pathfinder back in for service as the shuddering continued. at 5.945 miles they found that the transmission had failed and the dealership then replaced it. on march 25, 2014, we again had to bring the pathfinder in for service as the pathfinder would shudder when accelerating. at 10,075 miles the transmission was then replaced again due to it failing. we then lodged a formal complaint with nissan na and requesting a replacement automobile because we do not feel safe driving the pathfinder with an 8 week old daughter inside. the claim was then formally declined by nissan with no explanation except that they are extending our warranty. i am absolutely disappointed with both nissan na and the nhtsa for not moving forward with a formal recall because this is a serious issue that affects the acceleration of a 6,000 pound suv. *tr

I just filed a complaint last week regarding my air bag on my 2 month old pathfinder and this week i had trouble with my transmission. approximately one month ago when i was accelerating onto the highway my car seemed to get stuck in second gear and would not go above 30 mph. the rpms were going up to 7000 without any additional power. this only lasted for about 10 seconds. the dealer checked out the car and said that nothing was wrong with it and that it may have been a communication problem with the transmission. it happened again this week, again trying to merge onto a highway. the speed limit on the highway was 55 and my pathfinder would not accelerate past 30-35 miles per hour for 1/4 to 1/2 mile. it is quite disconcerting when a tractor trailer rides up on your bumper going at least 55 miles an hour and you have no power to accelerate to get out of the way. once again, no warning lights came on the dash so i am sure that when i take it back to the dealer next week they are going to once again tell me that nothing is wrong with the vehicle. obviously this is a safety concern when the transmission can just stop responding like that. i don't know how nissan can use the excuse "because it didn't trigger a internal warning with the computer, nothing is wrong." clearly something is wrong and since nissan really needs to address this issue. *tr

We only had the vehicle a few months when the entire vehicle would begin shuttering when we would turn to the right or when we would accelerate. it would also lose power upon acceleration. we took it in to the dealership at which time they replaced the torque converter. shortly after receiving the vehicle back it began doing the same thing. we took it back and they replaced the transmission. after receiving it back the second time the problem was gone for a few weeks and then came back again. a specialist from nissan came to look at the vehicle and had no clue what was wrong with it and recommended we replace the transmission again. i have had my vehicle for 8 months and it has been in the shop a majority of that time. our passenger side air bag also turns off and nissan has no way to fix that either. nissan has given us a few options, all of which entail us either eating thousands of dollars or driving a broken vehicle. worst experience i have ever had with a vehicle. i will never purchase another nissan again and would not recommend any nissan product to any car buyer. *tr
