Left motel at 7am, vehicle seemed to have trouble shifting, high rpm..pulled over to check..would not start..towed to dealership. *tr the consumer stated the radiator failed. updated ivoq 01/14/13

I purchased my 2007 nissan pathfinder brand new.. i just paid it off last year.. i've been feeling like something was wrong with the shifting for some time.. but no one could find anything... well as i was driving down the road it just did not want to shift.. starting heating when i went over 60 mph. i took it to a specialist and come to find out the radiator is leaking coolant into my transmission.. im at 3500.00 in just parts right now.. than i go online and see all these other poor families that have had the same thing happen.. all nissan had to do was let us know there was a problem with the leakage.. this makes me sick.. i worked hard to pay this vehicle off.. now instead of taking my kids on vacation i will be paying for my vehicle to be repaired.. nissan totally denies any problem, however when you call the dealership they will try and sell you an updated radiator.. why does it need to be updated if they are saying nothing was wrong with the old one?? something needs to be done. we put our trust in a product and it failed us and now they want more money from us.. this is wrong.. i beg for any assistance and that someone step in and make nissan pay for what they are doing to people.. families work to hard for their products to have to be treated the way nissan is treating us.. and no one seems to be listening... i want answers.. if i sold a product and there was a defect i would fix the problem,... not try and cover it up with making my consumer by another part from me... *tr

Car was giving acceleration problems. two days later i was in traffic and car wouldn't go past 10 mph. i was able to pull over just out of the way of speeding traffic. i had to turn the car off then back on for it to start and slowly shift gears. still was only able to go up to 15mph at first, almost got into an accident because of my location. once i kept going it started to speed up to normal speed. immediately i called nissan, but before i was able to get to them my car failed to start. i was sent the recall letter in 2012 for my make/model/year. not right because by that time i received the letter i had already gone over the mileage. even if i was within mileage how can you make the buyer pay up to $3000 dollars for a manufacture defect. one problem is starting to lead to another. first bad tcm then relay. i'm fed up with trying to fix a vehicle that i kept maintained with the necessary maintenance checks. i did everything right as an owner, if my vehicle had been installed with good hardware (transmission/relay/etc.) then i would still have a good running vehicle. i will never buy another nissan again!!!!! *tr

Transmission failure from radiator fluid leakage into the transmission fluid. the cooling system for the transmission runs through the radiator. when the radiator fails radiator fluid leaks into the tranny fluid and destroys the internal transmission clutch plates and torque converter. nissan extended the warranty from 36k to 80k miles or 8 years on the radiator, knowing there was a problem, but no notice from them to owners of this problem. when the problem starts, it is too late, resulting in $6800 - $7500 in personal expenses to replace the transmission and radiator. nissan will not consider fixing after 80k miles. i have 127000 and only 5 years old vehicle. this problem was acknowledged to affect 2005 - 2010 pathfinders. there are hundreds of complaints on this issue on forums, which i find after i have the problem. nissan should recall the radiators and fix the problems. it is a defective $300 radiator that damages a $7000 transmission!... this is unfortunate and irresponsible for nissan and is basically a band-aid on a serious hazard. now my $30,000 vehicle is worth $3,000 to the dealer for trade in. *tr

Basically there is a manufacturer defect with the radiator/cooling system. we bought our nissan from bmw of reading (pa) in aug of 2012 and shortly after it started to slip. long story short the mechanic at aamco said the coolant fluid mixed with the trans fluid which ruined the trans. you know the story as this has happened to everyone i know with a 2005-2010 pathfinder that has 70-100k miles on it. please come down on these idiots from nissan and make them do a recall, this is a safety issue in contrary to nissans bogus extension of warranty from 60 to 80k miles. this seizes up in a busy high speed intersection and someone dies what then? *tr

Milky substance appeared in radiator and car smoked and smelled. took to mechanic and reported failed cooler causing radiator fluid and oil to mix. resulted in cracked heads as engine overheated. now transmission has failed. likely due to engine overheating. *tr

While driving i noticed a grinding sound when i reached speeds of 40-45 mph. when i pulled in to park the vehicle there was a loud grind and then the vehicle would not start. after checking the fluid levels i found that the engine coolant and the transmission fluid were mixing. *tr

Traveling on i-95 when transmission started to fail, vehicle dropped suddenly in speed while in very heavy traffic in the far left lane, cars directly behind started swerving into the middle lane and it was a miracle that i or someone else wasn't involved in a accident trying to get my vehicle to the far right lane. *tr

First issue started while trying to accelerate onto the interstate. the car/engine started shaking between 40 and 50 mph and would not accelerate. i was nearly rear-ended when i had to merge into traffic. other issues were similar, car shaking at 40 to 50mph, like driving over a washed out road. unable to accelerate initially, this would last for several seconds, before finally responding, shaking would go away when speed would exceed 50mph. final safety issue occurred when accelerating after a stop light onto a highway ramp. at 40mph the transmission completely went out, the car would not shift into gear and would not accelerate. i had just started to merge, i had to swerve back onto the ramp lane and stop in the middle of the road. i was nearly hit by the highway traffic and almost rear-ended by a car going back into the ramp lane. cars were forced to slam there brakes to avoid hitting my dead car, it also made it very difficult for other cars to merge onto the highway, several cars narrowly avoided an accident. car was taken to shop, transmission and radiator had to be replaced. radiator defect had caused the transmission to fail. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 nissan pathfinder. the contact stated was driving 40 mph when the vehicle began to hesitate and shake abnormally. the vehicle then independently shifted out of gear and stalled. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where a diagnostic was performed, which identified the failure as the radiator coolant penetrating the transmission. as a result, the transmission would downshift with abnormal force. the dealer advised the contact that the radiator, torque converter and the transmission needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure and current mileage was 107,000.

After pulling out of the driveway, i felt the transmission acting sluggish. thinking it was glitch, pulled into a 50mph street and almost got hit from behind due to the vehicle not picking up speed. took it to the dealership to have it checked out and they informed me that the transmission and radiator needed to be replaced. because i had exceeded my warranty they wanted to charge me $9,900 dollars to repair. i looked online and saw that other people had a similar problem. i called the ed hicks nissan dealership back and informed them of this research. they stated that my problem was a different one so the nissan extended warranty they offered would not cover it. this is clearly a defect that nissan should pay for, as i have done all scheduled maintenance. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 nissan pathfinder. while driving approximately 55 mph, the vehicle began stalled while the contact was attempting to accelerate. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. the technician advised that the valve body and radiator needed to be replaced due to a leak in the radiator and the coolant was intermixing with the transmission fluid. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact that the vehicle was not included in any recall. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 101,000 and the current mileage was 104,000.

I was driving at 30 mph and the nissan pathfinder 2007 start making a noise in the motor like when you have the car in 1 but it was on drive, then the service engine soon alarm appear. i parked the car but when turning on again it didn't. the dealer said that the radiator coolant damage transmission and the computer because was damaged. the estimated cost of the repair was $9,400. *tr

Radiator leaked into transmission, causing both to go out. repeatedly took my car to the dealer to diagnose problem but they had no knowledge of the radiator-transmission issue. once my car finally died i was forced to repair on my own with no help from nissan. i was too far over miles to be included in their "customer satisfaction program" which only covered cost over $3,000 and under 100,000 miles. i spent $4,360.00 out of pocket to replace transmission and bypass radiator. *tr

Radiator defect leaked coolant into the transmission caused transmission to fail; will need a new radiator and transmission because of this known defect in the radiator. also, engine timing chain defects in 2005-2010 pathfinders. repairs are set to be $12,000 - which is more than the value of the vehicle. *tr

I started having a sudden jerking in my 2007 nissan pathfinder when driving down the highway. when i took it into a nissan dealer they diagnosed the problem as a failure with the radiator internally and externally which allowed leaking coolant into my transmission fluid causing both radiator and transmission failure. the dealer now states that i need to replace both items or trade it in. .... come on nissan you have a major problem. we need a recall....... *tr

I was driving on the freeway when all of a sudden i heard a thud and lost power, had to go over 2 lanes without being hit.... i took it to the shop and the mechanic new excactly what the problems was. radiotor fluid getting into the transmission causing it to fail... hundreds of nissan pathfinder owners are having this problem. tell nissan to recall this now before someone gets killed.. shouldnt have to pay $8000 for nissans crappy work.. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 nissan pathfinder. the contact stated that the vehicle began to make a rumbling noise. the vehicle was taken to a dealer who replaced the universal joint. two days later the failure recurred. the vehicle was taken back to the dealer who stated that the transmission and the radiator needed to be replaced due to a hose that malfunction mixing fluids coming from both. the vin was not available. the failure and current mileage was 104,000.

The transmission slips at various speed levels. the dealership inspected and determined that the transmission cooler failed and damaged transmission through cross contamination. the vehicle manufacturer knows that this problem exists but the warranty is only extended to 80,000 miles but the problems in most cases show up after 80,000 miles.

Crack in radiator that was installed by nissan leaked into transmission. driving down road it got stuck in high gear. *tr

My pathfinder was should have been slowing from the speed of as i was braking and letting off the gas, but it kept moving forward and shaking. if there was a car in front of me i would have hit them hard. my transmission would not shift down to slow down, due to radiator leaking into transmission. the cost of my repair of both radiator and transmission is over $5000. *tr

I was on busy 495 highway in maryland with my family, all of a sudden my 2007 nissan pathfinder stopped accelerating, and there was a big truck behind me on high speed, my wife and kids started shouting when they saw the big truck almost ran us over. i had towed the nissan pathfinder to the dealer, only to be told that it's a transmission problem and might cost me more than $6,000 to fix. i got this vehicle brand new from nissan in 2007, and only have about 75,000 miles on it. a used car that i bought with 105,000 miles on it, and topped it with another 65,000 miles, making it 170,000 miles is still running good! someone out there needs to shout out that nissan needs to recall their vehicles with transmission issues before they waste people's lives via accidents. *tr

While driving my 2007 nissan pathfinder se, i encountered a hesitation of transmission functionality while making a left hand turn across two lanes of oncoming traffic. as i proceeded to accelerate through the left turn, the transmission seemed to slip and would not get out of first gear. subsequently, my service engine soon light came on. the next day, i took the vehicle to the local autoexpress to have the odb-ii code retrieved, i was informed that they could not read it as it was a dealer specific code. i left and went right to my local nissan dealer who informed me that a part of the radiator had broken and the car was now mixing antifreeze with transmission fluid. they informed me that both the radiator and transmission had to be replaced at a cost of $9200.00, the dealer suggested that i call nissan as i was just 2000 miles over the warranty. after countless calls to the call center in the phillipines and the regional office in ohio, i was basically told that there was nothing they could do for me, they stated that because there were no records of maintenance being done at the selling dealership, i was out of luck. we purchased this vehicle brand new and it is a fully loaded model. the plan was to drive this to the 200k miles that nissan has been pitched to commonly achieve. instead, i have a car in the driveway that i cant drive, i still owe $4700 on it, and it will cost me $9l just to make it useful again. nissan should be ashamed of themselves. it will not be until someone dies that any recall action will happen. nissan has chased away a life-long loyal customer. *tr

While driving down the highway my husband and i experienced loss of power and had to pull onto the side of the road. we were towed from there to the mechanic who explained to us that the internal radiator had leaked fluid into the transmission causing failure to both. since our warranty was outdated we are now out 6000$ and are struggling to fix this. i am very frustrated and disappointed in the vehicle. we had our children with and i am very glad that we were not at a busy intersection or interstate. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 nissan pathfinder. while driving 50 mph, the vehicle shook violently. the contact released the accelerator pedal and had to accelerate again very slowly. the failure occurred multiple times. in addition, the air bag warning indicator was constantly illuminated. an independent mechanic stated that there was cross contamination with transmission fluid leaking into the radiator and coolant entering the transmission. as a result, the transmission failed. the radiator was replaced and flushed; however, the failure persisted and the radiator had to be continuously flushed of transmission fluid. additionally, the contact asked the dealer if the vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number: 08v690000 (air bags), but the dealer stated that the recall was nonexistent. the manufacturer was not notified. the approximate failure mileage was 80,000.

While driving with the ac on, my vehicle started to blast out hot air through the vents and overheat. my car has never ran hot before, i haven't had any problems since i've had it. i was able to pull over safely and let the car cool down. my husband removed the radiator cap and noticed a milky liquid in the radiator. we had to have the vehicle towed to a mechanic shop and they notified us of the recall on the nissan (2005-2010 models) radiators. they said that it was a common problem that they have been seeing where the coolant mixes with the transmission fluids and cause a major repair problem. we have been told that the radiator, transmission, transmission kit, throttle, vial body, and torque converter will have to be replaced. i feel petrified to know that nissan knew about this existing problem but refused to have these issues repaired rather than taking the easy way out and extending the warranty. we bought our truck brand new from the nissan dealership and we also paid for the 5yr/100,000 mile warranty. i have had my truck for 5 yrs and 2 mths, something should have been done about this. we the consumers have trusted this brand for many years and we depend on our vehicles on a daily bases. my family and i were all in the vehicle when the incident happened we could have been seriously harmed in a high risk situation. we had the 90,000 mileage maintenance completed where they flushed the radiator, changed the transmission, & etc. and everything was fine. my husband have always taken my car in for timely maintenance and no one has ever mentioned the radiator issues. *tr

2007 nissan pathfinder. consumer writes in regards to transmission and radiator problems *tgw the consumer stated the repairs totaled $ 3,399.10. *jb updated 11/05/12

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 nissan pathfinder. the contact stated that the filter radiator caused the cooling to leak, which destroyed the transmission. the dealer was notified who stated that he was not familiar with the type of failure and offered no assistance. the manufacture was not notified. the failure and current mileage was 75,875.

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 nissan pahtfinder. the contact stated that while driving 40 mph. the radiator failed. the vehicle was taken to the dealer, who stated that the radiator, water pump, radiator thermostat, and transmission were damaged due to leaking radiator fluid. the dealer also stated that radiator needed to be repaired. the contact stated that this was the second occurrence of the same failure. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed both failures. the manufacture was notified and offered no assistance. the failure mileage was 71,000 and the current mileage was 122,000.

2007 nissan pathfinder...we started experiencing transmission issues(slipping) while on highways at speeds of 65 to 70 causing vehicle to loose gear/power. in most of the incidents our vehicle was loaded with my kids and wife and were forced to immediately pulled off the freeway to avoid being rear-ended(causing accident). we experienced 4 incidents in 2012 when vehicle had over 75000 miles. latest costly incident took place 3 weeks ago..my wife lost power again as driving off freeway, pulled into a shopping center, turned car off....allowed a few minutes and tried starting it again but it was completely dead, no cranking at all. local shop diagnosed issues with electrical computer unit and transmission....got alarmed, searched online for possible recalls/defects.sure enough i found many links to complaints and class lawsuit in 2012. i contacted dealer...two dealer diagnostics reflected a bad body control module(computer unit) and bad transmission due to radiator fluid into transmission....i already new this. reading complaints online it appears that these two issues are associated with the recall/defects but dealer is treating the two separately costing me over $3400. i will challenge them on treating these two as separate issues. why nissan has failed to notified customers about these issues/defects? these failures could have caused us an accident! proper notification from nissan could have save us these $3400+ in repairs. why is nissan waiting until vehicles are completely out of service? why do us, consumers have to cover part of their mis-engineering? i highly recommend an investigation against nissan and make them accountable....my family cannot afford to pay for their mistakes and negligence! *tr

At 40 mph, the vehicle started vibrating and grinding. i promptly took it in to the dealership for a check, and was informed that it is the transmission that needs replaced. i was told that i "just missed" the cut off for the warranty extension to cover this defect, as my vehicle as 81000 miles on it. the defect is reportedly only covered until 80000. i was never notified of a defect or recall. i have followed all manufacture recommended maintenance of my pathfinder. please consider extending this coverage, since it is a defect and not related to my care of my vehicle. *tr

I have maintained my car. in june, my nissan dealership charged me $1500 after i reported a jolt in the transmission. i brought it back 08/10/2012 and they said the transmission needed replaced. i took it to another shop and they said the radiator fluid had leaked into the transmission and ruined the transmission presenting a financial burden and a huge safety issue. *tr updated 09/13/12

The faulty seal that separates the anti-freeze and transmission fluid mixed and resulted in the transmission failing. this catastrophic failure that the manufacturer is admitting to but only giving partial remedy as it may not happen before 80,000 miles. i find myself along with many other customers who are footing the bill for the 8600 dollar repair in tough economic times. when buying a new vehicle it should last long enough to finish paying the car note without any major expenses. this issue needs to be addressed immediately as a recall so the consumer can be reimbursed for terrible engineering that any mechanic will tell you. even the nissan dealers know is a problem but will not take ownership. is there any assistance as a consumer? *js

I understand now that nissan pathfinder owner (05-07) have experienced issues with the transmission failing due to defective parts. i now have to have my transmission and radiator replaced to the tune of $7000+. why has there been no recall for this problem? *tr

I was pulling out of my garage when my check engine light came on, i took my care to a garage where they diagnosed it as a transmission problem. i took it to a transmission shop where they have found that my transmission fluid is leaking into my radiator and vice versa. they mechanic said he has seen quite a few of these, when i called nissan to find out more i was told that there was no recall even though there are many of these pathfinders with the same issue. it is the failure of a 400 dollar part that nissan sent no notice to anyone for. i was told i was out of luck. i have owned 5 nissans and because of this absolute disregard for customers will not buy another one. *tr

I drove 2hrs away to pick up my niece from college. the vehicle was fine on the freeway, but as soon as we exited, it started to sputter. we were very close to campus so we pulled in and made it through a couple more stop signs before we pulled into a stall and parked. it would not start after that. i had to tow it back home and to the dealer ship where i was told that a problem in the radiator caused fluids to mix which shot my engine. now nissan wants to charge me $7650 for a radiator and transmission. that's ridicules considering nissan knew these vehicle had faulty radiators in them. this could have been very dangerous if this occurred on the freeway! *tr

I was driving home from work when i noticed my 2007 pathfinder was not shifting properly, then my check engine light came on. i then took it to an auto parts store to see what code was causing the check engine light to come on, i was told it was the transmission speed sensor. the next day i took my car to a transmission repair shop where i was told it was not the speed sensor, but the radiator had leaked coolant into the transmission. i was then told this was very common in the pathfinder and nissan would not help with repair cost. i contacted the local dealership where i usually get my car serviced and was told that nissan knew about this issue and would not help with repair costs unless i brought my car to them for diagnostic testing. i did they told me what i already knew and that it would cost $7500 to repair minus the $105 i spent for the diagnostic test. my car is not paid for and i can't afford to get it repaired. nissan should be held responsible for their poor handling of this defect. it should not take someone being seriously injured or killed before they take action. since finding out this problem i have been researching and have found i am not alone in this fight against nissan. *tr

Car started shifting very rough and stalled in traffic. very dangerous! found out from nissan service center there is a defect in the radiator that causes the coolant to mix into the transmission. both the radiator and transmission need to be replaced. nissan extended the warranty on both parts to 80,000 miles (apparently nissan knows there is a problem). unfortunately, it affected my car at 88,000 miles. now, nissan is really giving me the run-around. my car has been in the nissan service center for 2 days. they informed me today (may 11, 2012) they would make a determination by may 16th if they will "help pay" for the fix. the defective radiator should have been recalled! i should not have to pay for this fix. someone is going to be killed or seriously injured due to this defect!!!! *tr

My nissan pathfinder started overheating. we had the thermostat changed. nissan still overheated so i took it to the shop and a faulty mechanical issue with the nissan caused the transmission to get antifreeze in it and the radiator to get transmission fluid in it. nissan extended their warranty to 80,000 miles because of all the customers having trouble with this, but mine was over. also the gas gauge is faulty and when you fill the gas tank up the digital readout will not work and the gas gauge goes to empty. i've ran out of gas twice because of this faulty gauge. *tr

Haven't finished paying off my car and already the transmission of my nissan pathfinder 2007 is failing. the radiator spilled the cooling liquid into the transmission, which then proceeded to cause serious problems to the transmission. the guaranty expired after 100 000 miles, even though prior to that the mileage the guaranty still applied. now, in order to fix the transmission, or replace it for a new one, will cost me over $5000usd. i'd like to unite to the existing complaints/lawsuit against nissan on the matter of the faults found in the 2007 nissan pathfinder, as i feel that is unfair that the company with the knowledge of fault in its product has not warned the public and has proceeded to sell the product to the public, leaving us with a faulty machine that in the end is more expensive, and not a satisfactory product. i am hopeful that the company will response to all of our complaints, stepping forward and taking responsibility for the inconvenience they have caused, and hopefully taking ownership of the expenses that due to their lack of responsibility, have been incurred on to us, the consumers. *tr

Started noticing in march 2007 a noise like running over a rumble strip for brief periods that we thought were either our new tires or road surfaces. later we noticed it started getting longer and it seemed liked it had a hard time shifting gears. we took it to our nissan dealer who informed us that there was a leakage between the cooling system and the transmission which in time will cause the transmission to fail. we also found out they were aware of this problem, but we were never notified. now they told us even with and extended warranty to 80k we were past that at 81k. i feel they should be forced back to up their known defects and issue a recall. *tr

Car would not engage in reverse. the problem was diagnosed as my transmission failing due to design flaw that allowed radiator cooling fluid to leak into the transmission. i had to replace the transmission at a cost or $3,400. the car warranty had run out and i was not reimbursed by nissan. nissan has not recognized that they have a design flaw issue that is costing their car owners thousands of dollars in repairs as well as ruining their reputation. *tr

My vehicle started to stall as if it was going to cut off, i pulled to the side of the road and waited a few minutes then it started right up as if no issue. later that day when my husband was driving the vehicle started to shift really hard and stall. i took it to the dealership and the dealer diagnosed the transmission problem as fluid cooler located in the radiator assembly that allowed coolant to mix with and contaminate the automatic transmission fluid. i was really afraid of being rear ended as the vehicle stalled as it shifted to the next gear, prior to this there had been absolutely no warning that there was an issue of this magnitude. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 nissan pathfinder. while traveling 40 mph, the contact noticed a grumbling sound coming from under the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where the contact was informed that the radiator was leaking into the transmission. both the transmission and the radiator were replaced. the current and the failure mileages were 87,000.

At first started noticing hesitation in transmission at 40 mph, confirmed by 2 mechanics trans fluid is milky color and changed fluid at a local service station that had to go to nissan and get their transmission fluid to finish job. now back to milky transmission fluid, have to take overdrive off because gears will not shift, i also carry gallon of water because at any time radiator fluid levels can be low; have to turn air off at long stop lights so temp gauge doesn't go up. *tr

This experience has been absolutely terrible. i am a mother and drive to all of the activities everyday which adds immense stress on me everyday knowing that any second my car will break down leaving us stranded. i bought my pathfinder used from the nissan dealership and have barely owned it for 2 years. i took it into the dealership after it was running at 40mph and would not let me accelerate and making crazy grinding noises as though i were riding on the road shoulder. the dealership informed me that it wasn't a problem with my transmission but my radiator leaking coolant into the transmission which as a result ruined the transmission. having done research on the issue i have read that it is a common issue with these models and that nissan corporate is well aware of and refuse to do anything about it. this is a great big safety issue imposed on my family and i am terrified to even drive. i am upside down on my vehicle and cannot trade it in on a new vehicle and am left with my hands tied. i am joining the other millions out there filing a class action suit against nissan in the hopes of resolving this issue. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 nissan pathfinder. the contact stated that while driving 45 mph, the vehicle began to jerk and shimmy abnormally. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnosis and the contact was informed that the radiator malfunctioned and leaked anti-freeze into the transmission. the vehicle was taken to a dealer for diagnosis where they also advised that the radiator failed and was leaking anti-freeze into the transmission. the manufacturer was notified but offered no assistance. the vehicle had not been repaired. the failure and current mileages was 122,123.

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 nissan pathfinder. the contact stated that while driving approximated 45-55 mph, the vehicle gave a hard surge. the vehicle was taken to the dealer and a diagnostic was performed, which located as the radiator fluid contaminating the transmission. the transmission and the radiator would need to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure and the current mileage was 85,000.

My wife was driving my 8th grade son and his basketball team to middle school game. she was on the freeway going 65 mph, when she felt the car jerk and then start to lose speed, the engine was still running but the car had slipped out of gear. she had no power and luckily she had room to coast to the shoulder. we took the car to the dealer the next day they diagnosed the problem as transmission failure due to radiator fluid in the transmission. we replaced the radiator and coolant lines and flushed the transmission, and it ran fine for a few months. but the check engine light came back on last month, we took it in and now they tell us that we have to replace the transmission. please investigate this issue with the nissan pathfinder, frontier and xterra. it seems to be more and more of a common issue with nissan owners and nissan is not doing anything to repair this very serious and costly problem. i just got an estimate on tuesday (9/4/12) for $9459.00 worth of repairs to the transmission and the radiator. i bought the car new from nissan, and it now has 110,502 miles. *tr
