Recently reported POWER TRAIN problems on 2007 Nissan Pathfinder

Calsonic radiator issue - transmission fluid and coolant mixed causing issues with transmission. bad transmission cooler area per aamco. nissan is unwilling to help as my vehicle has 126k miles on it. these issues appear to be happening in a much greater % than nissan is acknowledging. they moved the warranty from 3 yrs/36000 miles to 8 years/80000 miles but it still doesn't help those whose radiator leaked after the 100k level prematurely. this is a safety issue and also a manufacturing defect issue. it seems that nissan corporate, dealers, transmission shops and other governmental organizations knew about this issue - sadly, most consumers don't. i would have gladly replaced my radiator for $500 but now i will be out $4000 because nissan didn't tell their owners about this problem. *tr

Vehicle began to vibrate at speeds of approx 45 mph. over a short period of time, the condition worsened - the vibrations became more aggressive and began to occur at higher speeds. after investigation by nissan, they advised that there was an issue with the radiator and possibly transmission that was no longer under warranty because i was outside of the 100,000 mile limit. the coolant is leaking into the transmission fluid cooler line and ultimately right into the transmission, thereby causing damage that may or may not be repaired with a new radiator and transmission. apparently, this is a know issue with these vehicles and nissan neglected to alert consumers. at this time, the vehicle is inoperable. *tr

This pathfinder is experiencing a failure with the transmission oil cooler / radiator assembly and is within the 10 year period specified by the extended warranty but is beyond the 100,000 mile limit. due to the nature of this defect, the severity of this failure, the repetitive nature of the failures and the limited or missing failure warning signs, i believe that an investigation is warranted. extending a warranty for a short period of time a limited mileage that most consumers breeze through in a few years in order to avoid a recall is not good for repeat business or safety. nissan settled a class action lawsuit where it identified the defective radiator, but capped the warranty at 10 years/100,000 miles. whether or not the incident happened at 10,000 miles, or 200,000 miles, it is still a manufacture defect, not caused by the consumer. simply extending the warranty coverage for the radiator without warning consumers of the consequences to the transmission only makes sense to me if nissan is looking to cut their losses. why didn't nissan warn consumers that the transmission could fail very quickly as a result of a cracked cooler tube? how many consumers must needlessly suffer transmission failures in busy intersections and on busy, congested highways before nissan does the ethical thing and issues a safety recall? this defect need not be left on the consumer's shoulders, and could very easily cause safety issues for the owner. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 nissan pathfinder. the contact stated that while driving 15 mph, the vehicle began to shake violently and lose power before stalling. the vehicle could not be restarted. the vehicle was towed to a dealer for diagnosis and the contact was informed that the radiator fluid and transmission fluids had mixed and both the radiator and transmission would need to be replaced. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the vehicle had not been repaired. the failure and current mileage was 93,000.

I was driving my pathfinder down the highway and when i reached 40 mph, it began to hesitate as if the overdrive was not working. as i gave it more gas, it stopped. it has gradually gotten worse to the point that anywhere from 40 to 50 mph, the vehicle is hesitating unless you either slow to below 40 or speed up to above 50. i took it to the nissan dealer and he stated that the transmission fluid was mixing with the coolant, which means that i must pay to have my transmission replaced or purchase a new vehicle! i have since heard that there have been many reports of this same issue. my vehicle has gone out of warranty, but, if this is an issue that has been known for quite some time (years) as i have researched, then i believe nissan should have to cover the cost of replacement. why was there not a recall on the issue, which could have been fixed easily instead of having to replace the whole thing at the owners expense! i also realize that at any moment my vehicle could stop in the middle of the road, which could cause injury or even death to me or my family. *tr

In the middle of 2013, the dealer recommended a transmission flush for my 2007 pathfinder. i gave them the go ahead. only a few weeks later, the transmission started to jerk and shift violently into gear. eventually, the transmission stopped working altogether. the dealer said it would cost $6k to replace the transmission and basically told me that i should just get a new car. i took the car to an independent shop and they informed me that the radiator, transmission cooler would need to be replaced and the transmission overhauled. the work was quoted at $3,500 which was a lot better than $6,000 so i went ahead with the repair. shortly thereafter, i was involved in an accident that would require the radiator and transmission cooler to be replaced again, the repair was executed by the dealership in late 2014. then in mid 2015 the transmission started acting up again. same symptoms as before. i am just waiting for the truck to die on me any day. recently i came across some information about a class-action suit that was settled against nissan in 2013 over this exact problem. the dealer should have known about this settlement and should have offered me the option to get my car repaired under the terms of that settlement - but they did not. further, i understand nissan has fixed the problem with a new part but i suspect that the dealer used the old type of parts when my vehicle was in their body shop and this is the reason my transmission is once again exhibiting signs of an impending problem. this is just not good for consumers and it is definitely not good for nissan's reputation. i will never again buy nissan.

Cracked radiator allowed coolant to leak into transmission so not knowing nissan was having this problem we had a new radiator installed and the cooling system and transmission flushed out mileage at this time was 79290 now 4 months later the transmission is shot and need a new one mileage now 83158 since the mileage is above 80000 nissan will not fix the car under there extended warranty and wants me to dole out 2500.00$. if i would have known nissan was having problems with there transmissions i would have taken my car to a nissan authorized service center the first time. *tr

Wife driving home on highway vehicle was like it was in neutral, pulled over and service engine light came on, made it home ok, this vehicle had a recall but due to the mileage did not qualify for the repairs, nissan knows of the defects of this transmission but refuses to fix it, the components were faulty when assembled and they refuse to take responsibility for the fix that is needed, this is our only vehicle for a family of five and we do not have the money to replace the transmission. *tr

About 2 weeks ago i was driving my 2007 nissan pathfinder (automatic), when i try to accelerate a bit the vehicle show signs that the speed-gear will not shift properly. when i am at a red light also for example once the light change to green the car take a few seconds to accelerate to the proper speed making it an inconvenience for other cars behind me since the speed will not pick up on time. sometimes also it tend to " shot" making a weird not before resuming proper speed and this happen mostly on local roads. *tr

Note: affected parts are transmission and radiator (not sure what category those fall in) i purchased a 2007 nissan pathfinder from a nissan dealership less than 3 months ago. immediately after purchasing i noticed what seemed to be a minor lack of power or cutting out when coasting downhill. i mentioned it to my sales rep, and again when i had to take the vehicle back to the shop on two separate occasions for a tire pressure gauge and rear door handle problem. i had never owned a 4wd before and it was dismissed as no big deal since it still drove okay. then last week, over labor day weekend, my car overheated and immediately discharged a grey milky substance from the radiator without warning. it had not overheated prior to this. i had my car towed to the dealership. they informed me that both the transmission and the radiator need replacing to the tune of $6,600. the cause being the radiator fluid leaking into the transmission. this repair is over half the value of the car. i never would have purchased the vehicle had i known about the defect. at a minimum i would have insisted it be covered by warranty. i paid full retail price for the car not knowing of this defect. while i'm grateful no one was injured by this defect this time, i have no means to pay the repair costs and owe $13,000 to the bank for a vehicle i cannot drive or resell. *jb

2007 nissan pathfinder with 86k miles. vehicle began hesitating when traveling 40 mph on highway, then loss of power sometimes. the car began to overheat. took it to a mechanic who told me that it was the transmission and radiator. cooler line had failed and mixed with transmission. i called nissan and was told that they extended the warranty to 100k but i would have to pay $2500 out of pocket. learned of a class action lawsuit in 2012. nissan never notified me of the transmission problem. if they had notified me on time, i would still be under the 80k warranty. i have no money to fix my car and now i'm stuck paying for a car that i can't drive. *tr

2007 nissan pathfinder le - 92,000 miles est. - i bought this vehicle new in 2007 and have been very pleased up until the past two weeks. my story is the same as others - transmission started getting rough, particularly around 45-50 mph and on inclines. there is an audible and jolting clunk moving from neutral to drive. while driving in the above range, the vehicle sounds just like driving over a rumble strip on the highway. i haven't even taken the vehicle in to the dealership yet, and i already know what the problem is. this car has been babied for years being that it is the sole automobile that my wife and kids drive in. i'll be [xxx] if i'm going to pay a $3000 deductible for a defect that nissan has had full knowledge of for years now! to[xxx] with the settlement that left most of us out in the cold while padding the pockets of the attorneys! it is time for the nhtsa to step up and make the only right and safe decision that nissan refuses to make! these cars are not safe to drive on the road in this condition! mine will remained parked in the drive until nissan is forced to recall every vehicle with these faulty radiator/transmission issues. this is my complaint. i hope that nissan does the smart thing here. they have lost me as a customer for life, and i've owned or driven over a dozen nissans in my time. it's a shame that this company will sit back and let these complaints mount up until truly forced to do something about it. they should be disgraced knowing that right now there are mothers & children driving in vehicles that could suffer complete transmission failure at any point leading to injury and death. my advice to all is to bring this to their doorstep. technology offers us the ability to bring the fight to the top of the food chain. i'll be bombarding email addresses and voicemail boxes until this is resolved. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

Vehicle was hesitating when shifting gears. daughter pulled car in driveway, there was a burning smell. then all of this fluid leaked on to the driveway and the car would not go into gear. pathfinder at dealership now to be repaired. will cost me $3000 for a known defect. doesn't seem right that the consumer has to pay for the mistakes of the manufacturer. there should be a recall with this issue - and nissan should be the one responsible for paying the entire amount. *tr

Transmission failed due to faulty radiator in our 2007 nissan pathfinder. our 17 year old son was driving on a very busy interstate late sunday june 16th, 2013. the car's transmission failed suddenly with no known notice. luckily he was able to steer of the side of the road until assistance could come. this is an issue that nissan is definitely aware of. they will not recall these radiators while fully knowing that the transmission of all 2005 through 2010 pathfinders will eventually fail leaving their consumers at a safety risk. the replacement of all radiators and transmissions are only covered up to 80,000 miles or 8 years, whichever comes first. after that, the consumer is on the hook for repairs. please help to have these radiators recalled! *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 nissan pathfinder. the contact stated that while driving 40 mph, the vehicle vibrated and jerked. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis where it was stated the transmission needed t be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was notified. the approximate failure mileage was 92,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 nissan pathfinder. the contact stated that while driving approximately 50 mph, there was an unexpected increase in acceleration for several seconds. in addition, the engine rpms increased. the contact also stated that the vehicle had sporadically decelerated independently with an abnormal reduction in engine rpms. the failure recurred numerous times. the vehicle was taken an authorized dealer, who stated that the radiator and transmission would need to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the defect. the approximate failure mileage was 110,669.

Radiator failed, leaking antifreeze into transmission. this mixing of antifreeze and transmission fluid caused transmission to fail my pathfinder is now in a parking spot. i owe payments on a vehicle i can no longer drive, nor afford to repair. *tr

Radiator failed, leaking antifreeze into transmission. this mixing of antifreeze and transmission fluid caused transmission to fail. the violent vibrations and rough shifting is a safety hazard and nissan should recall all models with this radiator. i had to pay $2500.00 to have this defect repaired. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 nissan pathfinder. the contact stated that when driving over 45 mph, the vehicle would hesitant upon acceleration. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis. the technician stated that the radiator was leaking fluid into the transmission. the technician stated that the radiator and the transmission would have to be replaced. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 150,000. *tr

This complaint is about the past recall on the 2007 nissan pathfinder, the transmission fluid mixing with the radiator. due to a hole, crack in the engine. had this to happen to me. cost very high. this happen with car in motion on city streets.

The radiator and transmission has appeared to fail in my nissan the radiator started to leak several months ago and i finally had to replace the radiator and now the transmission has started fail. the car has been well cared for and both the radiator and the transmission appear to be failing well before a normal radiator and transmission should. *tr

My wife was driving our 2007 nissan pathfinder and as she pulled away from a stop sign she felt the transmission slipping. a month earlier we took the vehicle to a shop for a transmission flush and the mechanic told me that it looked like chocolate milk and the engine coolant had mixed with the transmission fluid. he performed the flush and now we were having trouble with the vehicle again. i called the local nissan dealer and they told me that it was a common problem with this model and could be fixed and all i would have to pay was a deductible which was cheaper than replacing the transmission. i asked how much was the deductible, foolishly thinking that it would be around $500, and they said it would be $3000. i asked why wasn't this treated as a recall and was not given a straight answer. just the typical bs that nissan extended the warranty because they "stand behind their product". ultimately i took it to my mechanic who replaced the radiator and flushed it out. it's working now but i'm sure i will have trouble once again. i don't know how i will get rid of this vehicle and i still owe. i will never buy a nissan and will bad mouth this company to everyone. *tr

Transmission failure while driving in traffic. caused by ruptured coolant line, coolant mixed with atf. replaced radiator and flushed transmission, but damage was already done. *tr

We noticed the nissan starting to jerk on the frwy and service engine light came on. took it immediately to the mechanic they gave me bad news appearantly the transmission had radiator fluid in it. he said he had seen this problem before many times his exact word were the way nissan designed this particular vehicle causes this. my mechanic had to replace radiator flush the whole system put new fluids in total cost $976.oo he advised me to take it to a transmission shop because he said it needed to be looked at by a specialist since he could not guarantee it would not happen again or if even the transmssion would work. well it worked but the service engine light came on on the way to the transmission shop once they got done with it and replaced everythin that needed to be fixed on the inside of the transmission i paid $3227.49. according to everything i read this can hapen to the pathfinder without any prior problems. we took pretty good care of ours was a great vehicle till we had to dish out almost 5k after we had just paid it off. i will never buy nissan again! *tr

There is a known defect in the radiator/radiator coolers in the '05, '06 and '07 nissan pathfinders which causes the radiator and the transmission to fail. please help with a recall on this problem, several of the folks still have a payment on the vehicles. you can see all of the problems that folks are having. thanks, terry please try to do all you can for all of us, i can't see that nissan can get by with this. they are just to replace the defect parts. *tr

At about 50 to 60 mph the transmission downshifts constantly to a lower gear and the rpm shoots up to 4000 or so, i have to accelerate to 75 for it to give me a higher gear. these happens to me constantly. *tr

Transmission starting slipping then started jerking while driving then it started overheating. took it to a nissan dealership because i bought the extended warranty that was supposed to cover the powertrain. they told me that the cooler cracked which caused the radiator fluid to leak into the tranmission and messed up the radiator, which is not covered by the powertrain warranty because the radiator cooler was not part of it. the dealership wants to charge over $6000 to fix it. *tr

I own a 2007 nissan pathfinder that just passed 90,000 miles. it seems that i have the same issue as many others. there is a leak in the transmission from the radiator. now i know that they are taking some responsibility but really how is it that i should responsible to pay for any portion of this repair. it should be a recall no matter how many miles. i didn't know that i was buying a car that was going to last for 90,000 miles i might have went a different direction. if it was a nissan defect why do we the consumer have to pay for this? please help out the many nissan owners who are upset and confused at why this burden should be put on us. thank you. *jb

My nissan pathfinder radiator coolant leaked into the transmission, i got an extend warranty and now the extended warranty is not covering it due to radiator coolant leaked to the transmission and it not a cover benefit now i'm screw. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 nissan pathfinder. the contact stated that the vehicle stalled without warning. the vehicle was towed to a transmission mechanic where a diagnostic was performed. the technician stated that the failure was located at the radiator which had cracked and allowed coolant to enter the transmission. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure and current mileage was 149,000.

While driving on street around 2 pm, the car just lost its power and i end up stuck in the middle of the street with my 2 kids at the back seats, the car wont moved and i need to call for help so the other driver helped me push the car on the side of the street. tow truck arrived and towed my car to the nearest shop and found out that it was the transmission mixed with water coming from the radiator. it cost 2800 for everything. the current miles when this incidents happened is 111200. *tr

I took my 2007 nissan pathfinder to the dealer to have the brakes worked on and while there they performed a multi point vehicle inspection. from this inspection they informed me that there was cross contamination of the coolant and transmission fluid due to a failed transmission cooler. they indicated that damage had already started and it would only be a short time before the transmission failed completely so i needed to replace the radiator and transmission under the extended warranty and there would be a $3,000 deductible cost. in talking with the dealership service personnel and researching online it is clear that this is a common problem and obviously a design failure which could be a safety issue if the transmission fails while driving due to this known problem. my family and i are thankful that just by chance the brakes needed work otherwise my wife and kids could have been driving and been at risk of potential injury if the transmission failed unexpectedly as has been reported by other nissan pathfinder vehicle owners. due to the number of failures that has occurred it is irresponsible for nissan to just extend the warranty instead of taking a proactive approach and actually notifying their customers of the problem and fixing the known problem under a voluntary recall. i urge the nhtsa to initiate an investigation and hold nissan responsible for their design failure and protect the public from the potential safety risk by forcing a mandatory recall to fix the problem instead of just waiting for failure which puts the consumer at risk. *tr

My wife was driving home from picking up our children from school. she was traveling approx 65 mph when the vehicle lost power, became unstable, and would not accelerate. she said that it was like someone put on the emergency brake with five times more. force than normal almost causing her to loose control of the vehicle. upon taking the vehicle to a repair shop the problem was found to be that coolant had leaked into the transmission and had destroyed the transmission computer and the transmission. *tr

I bought a 2007 pathfinder from a very reputable used car business, carmax almost 3 years ago. they are very well known in the area for thoroughly checking their vehicles before reselling. it had approx 59k miles on it and i've loved it until recently. i started experiencing heating problems awhile ago but my mechanic couldn't find anything wrong - he even checked the radiator. a few months ago, the transmission would shudder occasionally when i reached about 40 mph. at first it was very minor, i actually thought it was maybe grooves in the road, etc but the issue got worse. i brought it to the dealer and was told i need a new radiator and transmission - this is a widespread problem. i was also told flushing the transmission probably wouldn't help. the radiator is going to cost me $913 and because this is such a widespread problem, a new transmission was the only thing they could find at $7400! i still owe on this vehicle and am wondering how will i ever trade this in or even afford to fix it. nissan won't help in any way, even by discounting the labor and parts and the class action settlement won't help either because my pathfinder has 109k miles on it - 9k over the extended warranty nissan issued. what a disaster. i'm a single mom with a young daughter and a mother i care for. i recently took my family to visit my sister in west virginia, you know - mountains. imagine if something would've happened then. i had no idea all of this was going on and am now terrified to drive it. i've never received notification from nissan that there was a potential issue - i would've brought it to the dealer immediately and been covered for repairs!!! this is a nightmare and nissan should be held responsible in some way. why aren't they standing behind their product at all!! do a couple of hundred people have to get hurt before something is done? *tr

My wife was driving with kids in the vehicle when power in the transmission when to nothing then sporadically started working and not. she intelligently was able to avoid an accident and get the vehicle to a side road in a boat ramp parking area where the vehicle would not run in any gear. i was called and made aware of the situation and called my parents to pick then up for this was our only vehicle of transportation. after work my dad, uncle and i had the vehicle towed to our home where it has set since. due to finding out that nissan already had a class action lawsuit over this and the ruling with the mileage on my vehicle does not fall into any compensation or assistance to be fixed though the vehicle is only six years old. just don't understand how transmission failure on a busy road does not constitute a safety recall. my understanding of issue doesn't seem to be mileage related as much as time of the problem to happen. *tr

The radiator leaked fluid into the transmission cause damage to the transmission rendering it useless. this is a known design defect with the 2007 nissan. *tr

The radiator leaked into the transmission causing the transmission to fail at a critical operational point. the vehicle failed to accelerate, bucked sharply and nearly caused a collision. the vehicles was diagnosed with a catastrophic transmission failure. this is the second major drivetrain failure within 8 months. nissan is aware of substandard deign, parts, and craftsmanship in the 2007 pathfinder that render the vehicle unsafe to operate on public or private roadways. please take action before there are serious injuries related to these defective drivetrains. *tr

Failure of automatic transmission due to cross contamination of coolant fluid into transmission. *tr

Vehicle's transmission started slipping at certain speeds. got a trans flush hoping it would improve. problem returned. service engine light came on. took to garage and had a new wiring harness put on. problem returned. got stranded and had vehicle towed. determined that coolant was in the transmission fluid. huge repair bill. part of the class action suit now but am still out $2500. probably started occurring before 80,000 miles and had i been more investigative at that time, bill would have been covered because it was under 80,000. now it's over that amount and i am out of luck. huge disappointment in nissan! *tr

The automatic transmission in the vehicle began to shift roughly. it was determined through the nissan dealership that the radiator had a crack in , and radiator fluid was leaking into the transmission fluid. it is a design flaw. *tr

My vehicle was shifting weird when all of a sudden it violently lurched forward while in traffic. i took it to the transmission repair shop and was notified that my transmission had coolant in it and needed to be replaced. this will cost over $9,000 to repair and the safety issue is that the vehicle lurching forward so violently is unacceptable because of the faulty transmission cooler etc... *tr

After a 90k mile check-up and full service in spring 2012, i understood that my pathfinder was running well. never was there a mention of issues with the radiator / transmission, nor was the connection between these elements replaced to prevent an issue (to my knowledge.) at 101k miles, the heat went out in the rear section of the car (i did not realize this until two months had gone by and i was arguing with my freezing child in the back seat that i had his heat as hot as it would go - he was clearly correct and the rear blowers were blasting him with icy air.) there was a "clunk" upon shifting the car into reverse, and between 40 and 60 mph the transmission lagged and sounded like it was grinding and working hard. at 106k i brought the pathfinder to the nissan dealer where i had originally purchased the car. this was the same dealer who had done the 90k service, as well. they determined that the radiator fluid had mixed with the transmission fluid and that my car needed both a new radiator and transmission for $9,000.00. (my truck is maybe worth $15,000 at this point - really?) after deliberating with the service supervisor, he offered an alternate option of only changing the radiator and flushing the transmission several times to eliminate the contaminated fluid. i gave the ok for this service option at $600. since the service, my transmission is still lagging between 40 and 60 mph and the "clunk" still happens during a slow reverse. i am now investigating my options for a new transmission as the vehicle is still in beautiful shape, other than its engine issues. it is my belief that this issue is wide-spread enough that the transmissions and radiator should be recalled and replaced by nissan - or paid for by nissan since it's their faulty parts that cause the problem. *tr

Was told that radiator coolant was mixing with my transmission fluid. i noticed first that the heater wasn't getting very hot a few months ago, but since i live in texas, this wasn't a huge deal for me since it's not that cold and so i was going to have it serviced at my next regular oil change. however, then just a couple of days ago, i noticed that the car would shudder around 45 - 50 mph so i took it in immediately and was told that i was experiencing a known defect of nissan's built between 2005 - 2010. if i had known about 3 months ago (about the time i started noticing the heater issue) i would've been fully covered under their extended warranty of 80,000 miles for this particular defect. but i'm at 84,000 and therefore have to pay $2500 out of pocket for a new transmission and radiator. i feel that i should still be covered since i started experiencing issues before 80,000 miles but i had no idea that it would be such a huge problem that would require a new transmission and radiator on a car that is only 7 years old... *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 nissan pathfinder. the contact stated that while driving 65 mph, all the lights on the dash board illuminated and the vehicle stalled. the vehicle was towed to a dealer for diagnosis where the contact was informed that the radiator fluid and transmission fluid had mixed and the transmission would need to be replaced. the manufacturer was notified but offered no assistance. the vehicle had not been repaired. the vin was unavailable. the failure and current mileage was 123,000.

When slowing down or speeding up between about 30-50 mph, the vehicle transmission felt like it was slipping. after much research and several hundred dollars of work come to find out that the radiator is faulty causing cross-contamination between engine coolant and transmission fluid. i am aware there is an ongoing investigation into this matter as well as a class action law suit pending. i have spent significant money to troubleshoot and replace what was needed (radiator and multiple transmission flushes) and feel i should be reimbursed as well as have a more thorough inspection and additional repair/replacement if needed. i am concerned that the engine is now damaged due to transmission fluid being in there and possibly the transmission. both of which may be future problems that materialize down the road. something should be done to make this right for the many nissan customers. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 nissan pathfinder. the contact was driving 50 mph when the transmission began to jerk without any warning. the vehicle was driven to a safe location and inspected. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who advised that the radiator coolant leaked into the transmission fluid, which contributed to the internal damage of the transmission. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the problem. the approximate failure was 110,000.

Transmission began shuttering, not up shifting and limited acceleration and speed on freeway at 55mph. turns out that the transmission oil cooler lines had been leaking anti-freeze into transmission and destroyed it. manufacturer has replaced with same cooler and rebuilt (not new) transmission. issue still exists intermittently. needs recall enforced. manufacturer is pricing same cooler and rebuilt transmission at over $7000. then agreeing to only charge $2500 - $3000 per class action settlement. outside independent repairs quoted at $350 for cooler and less than $2000 for rebuilt transmission. gov.'t recall should cover all new and re-designed parts. failures will and are occurring again. can result in accident at high speeds. *tr

The radiator fluid is leaking into the transmission fluid and causing significant "rumbling" noises. the vehicle does not shift correctly. *tr

Automatic transmission started to slip after starting a vacation trip. vehicle will not back up and only moves forward very slowly on level surface, will not climb hills. we had to have the nissan pathfinder towed 60 miles, impacted our holiday vacation as we had to return home earlier than planned. *tr

Dealership states that transmission needs to be replaced as well as radiator due to manufacture defect. repair not allowed under warranty due to mileage. told that repair would be $10,000. *tr
