2005 nissan pathfinder fuel indicator light sensor, after reading several identical complaints it seems to be a defect with the sensor. but in order to get a 80 pert fixed the dealers are charging $500-700 with labor and having customers replace the entire fuel pump while there at it. at 60,0000 miles the fuel gauge now reads empty and the check engine sensor remains on. if i don't pay to fix the sensor i will not know how much gas i have & several customers failed inspection. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2005 nissan pathfinder. due to failures, the contact has only driven the vehicle three times since it was purchased on may 21, 2008. the engine light remains illuminated on the instrument panel. the vehicle was taken to the dealer and they would bypass the engine and shut off the light. on two occasions, the vehicle would not start because it was too hot. the vehicle was purchased with the original stereo system, but, when it stopped working, the dealer replaced it with a demo. the contact took the vehicle to a different mechanic and was informed that the fuel pump sensors were failing and a fuel pump was needed. the current mileage was 47,000 and failure mileage was 46,655. updated 07/10/08.*lj upated 07/08/08
Fuel gauge becomes inaccurate after it reaches half of the tank. for example , i may start off on a full tank and when the gauge reaches halfway, it drops all the way down and i become unaware of what remaining gas is left. as i became more aware of the problems, i started researching and noticed that this is a common problem that owners are having with their nissan pathfinder. *tr
I have a 2005 nissan pathfinder le. 52,000 miles. with transmission trouble. it vibrates at speeds of 45-50 mph. water in the transmission due to a leaking radiator which leaks into the transmission and ruins it. gas gauge that doesn't work properly. *tr
I filled my tank up one day and after getting in the vehicle it showed empty on the tank and the service engine light came on. i found out it was a fuel sending unit that went bad. i was at 38,000 miles on the nissan pathfinder and the warranty was up conveniently. the bill for fixing this is over $400. i have not fixed it yet because i know there is gas in there and it drives fine, but my wife goes hay wire about it every time she fills up the tank and it still shows empty. i wish nissan would send a recall or technical service bulletin to get this fixed for free. i sounds like there are many problems of this same nature. *tr
Fuel sending unit failed causing fuel gauge to improperly showing correct fuel levels. possible chance of running out of fuel due to incorrect readings. and causing the vehicle to stall and cause a dangerous situations on the road or to others safety. *tr
My 2005 nissan pathfinder se with 22k miles had the service engine light come on and the dte (distance to empty) indicator began to malfunction. since the vehicle is still under warranty i took it to a dealer. as with complaint numbers 10200004 and 10176618 the problem was determined to be the fuel level sensor. the dealer replaced the part and it was under warranty. *tr
At 56000 miles my cars computer and fuel gauge decided to malfunction. i filled the car up with gas and immediately the check engine light came on. the fuel gauge will not go below 1/2 tank. after taking it to the dealer it is a fuel sending unit that is not covered under warranty and is a $400 repair. this car is less than 2 years old and now i am having to spend $400 so i can tell if i have gas! updated 12/31/07 *jb
My fuel gauge and miles until empty gauge are both shot. they work once in a while, but most of the time the dte reads 0 and the gas gauge is on e. also my service engine soon light has been on since this problem started at approximately 60,000 miles. there are 3 complaints the same as this one and being that my 2 year old vehicle is no longer under warranty, i am forced to pay $400 to correct this problem when it is obviously happening to others. hopefully a recall will come out for this malfunction. *jb
Heater blows cold when idle, heater blower doesn't always work, fuel gauge reads empty when full. *kb
Fuel gauge not working properly on 05' nissan pathfinder. recall on all other 05'-09' nissans, but pathfinders. fuel gauge not reading correctly. can have full tank and reads empty. now have to work off of mileage. have no idea how much gas i really have. engine light has been on since gauge stopped working. dealership said $400 for new part , not including labor. gauge has been working improperly for at least 3 yrs. now. no warranty for this. *tr
