I was driving my car on the interstate when the check engine light came on when i hit the gas the car didn't want to go into gear brought the car to the repair shop and the me mechanic told me that this car has a recall for the transmission and engine problems just want to know if this is correct because no one will fix it for me

Started going 70-60 mph on freeway and car suddenly stopped accelerating causing me to move quickly to the other side of the freeway. i think it may be the alternator, not sure yet
