2009 nissan murano. broken rear crossmember making vehicle unsafe to drive, needing replacement of crossmember. nissan has problems with crossmembers on multiple models rusting and breaking. clearly they know of problem but have been able to get away with manufacturing these vehicles to just last long enough to make past warranty. there has been a recall in 2006/2007 on altima and maxima i believe for this problem. we first noticed broken crossmember when clunking noises from rear started while driving. also alignment affected with steering wheel off center is an indicator. so used nissan vehicles being purchased by young new families with children is a disaster waiting to happen.
During auto inspection: right front and left front lower control arm bushings tearing. photos attached.
During auto inspection: rear shock absorber leaking.
I purchased the nissan 11 feb, 2016 i am military and went away to serbia was back for a few weeks and got deployed again to jordan. my vehicle was cleaned and was in a garage during my deployment. since being back i have driven back and forth from va to oh for work my back breaks started to make noise so i had them replaced when the tires were removed i seen the under body for the first time. brought it to nissan were they deemed it non drive able and said that this was not an issue that arises within the time frame of having my vehicle it is extremely excessive rust to the point were it has eaten away the sub frame and that the waikem dealership sold me a death trap.
Just purchased this murano used. was sold to me 'as-is'. i am a mechanic and expected a few issues to fix. but come to find out, the rear subframe is completly rotted appart in two separate locations and undrivable. will cost me thousands to fix. absolutly unacceptable for a higher end vehicle only 9 years old. nissan will not do anything to remedy the situation. will never buy another nissan.
