1/31/2020 - brake light and battery light came on. at a traffic light, went to proceed when light turned green, car literally died as i accelerated.
Air bag warning light started flashing and does not go off. dealer (lancaster nissan) tested the vehicle and stated that sensor or seat sensor could be bad. they were able to turn off warning light, but it started again the next time i drove the car. estimates to replace sensor ($1,500) and seat sensor ($4,500) seem extremely high. vehicle has only 39,000 miles and was purchased new. dealer stated there is no open recall despite research showing 100's of 2009 muranos with the same issue and a prior recall on earlier muranos and infiniti's - clearly the same manufacturing defect. have not taken an action to repair at this point,
Drivers door will not unlock. vechile was parked. took to my mechanic and he could not unlock. tried with remote, and key. will not unlock from inside or outside the car. still locked and will not unlock
I was driving down the highway. there were no warning lights on my dashboard aside from the tpms light. there was a loud pop noise, so i pulled over to check it out. within 30 seconds smoke came from under the hood and quickly turned from white to black. then the vehicle caught on fire. it was completely burned with nothing but the trunk left in tact.
While driving my 2009 nissan murano approximately 60 mph on i-5 from portland, or to my home in washington the front part of my sunroof shattered for no apparent reason. there was an explosive sound before shards of glass rained down on the inside of my car. my sunroof was closed at the time but the shade part was open. some of the shards measured approximately 6 inches in length. it was a nice sunny day out and the approximate time of the incident was 6:00 pm. there were no overpasses in the vicinity where the incident occurred. i was not traveling near any dump trucks or other vehicles that was carrying any cargo. i could find no evidence of flying debris to cause the glass to shatter. i have contacted nissan dealership in my area and was quoted a price of $1,311.00 plus taxes to replace the shattered glass. fortunately, i was the only person in the vehicle at the time and was able to get over from the 2nd lane to the side of the road to deal with the large amounts of shattered glass that was found in both the front and back seats of my car. it was a very unnerving situation to be in and i did look to if see any other drivers in the area appeared to be effected by my sunroof shattering. i did not see evidence that any other drivers were effected by my sunroof shattering. i did take several photos of the shattered glass for my records. i have also kept larger fragments of the shattered glass for evidentiary purposes because i will be sending a demand letter to nissan to cover the cost based on previous reports i have just now found out about. i don't feel my murano is safe to drive knowing that the sunroof may explode again for no apparent reason. i will be driving with my shade closed on my sunroof which defeats purpose of having a sunroof but safety comes first.
On a main road parked off of a highway, car battery and brake light started flickering, suddenly as i tried to pull onto main road and car randomly forcefully stopped as if went to neutral wouldn't accelerate in any gear. i had to roll the car back into a parking spot quick as possible as there was oncoming traffic. i then turned car off then on and more lights on the dash illuminated, abs, brake, battery, and trackion control as well. i turned the car off to then try restarting again and wouldn't do anything as, completely dead. had to leave the car overnight parked til the following day for a tow since it never started back up. waiting on what caused this problem, definitely unsafe, could have caused a accident due to going into a neutral like mode as driving onto a main road and near a highway
While driving vehicle lost power, when trying to accelerate no power and noticed drop in rpm. also battery and brake lights flickering. was able to get car home however a week later with my children in the car it happened again only this time it completely died, after having it towed home, after jump start vehicle started right up without hesitation, and ran fine. system checks good and battery is new less than 60 days. very dangerous as there is not warning to sudden loss of power and stalling. vehicle lights radiio etc all still work but vehicle won't start. nissan recalled earlier models alternator for same symptoms however not my vehicle year. same set up location as the 03-07 models same problems just no recall on 09 models. car has power lights radio etc just looses ability to accelerate and if engine stalls then requires boosting to be started again. runs fine after no warning lights and then without warning happens again.
Airbag light flashing, will not turn off, also my tire pressure light will not turn off, that has been on for a year.
Catalytic muffler converter system, causing my check engine light to stay visible. this just recently happened.,as the vehicle in motion over a period of time.had it checked out, n upon dealer
I purchased the nissan 11 feb, 2016 i am military and went away to serbia was back for a few weeks and got deployed again to jordan. my vehicle was cleaned and was in a garage during my deployment. since being back i have driven back and forth from va to oh for work my back breaks started to make noise so i had them replaced when the tires were removed i seen the under body for the first time. brought it to nissan were they deemed it non drive able and said that this was not an issue that arises within the time frame of having my vehicle it is extremely excessive rust to the point were it has eaten away the sub frame and that the waikem dealership sold me a death trap.
Nissan murano 2009 will stop suddenly : under the light, on the highway after the abs light turn on. nissan recalls the car for this issues but their mechanics are unable to fix the car. the vehicle will stop suddenly on any road traveling.
Moonroof exploded going 65mph down a 4 lane highway
Brake pedal needs to go down to the floor in order to stop. i was driving on a neighborhood street applied brakes ahead of a stop sign before entering a 2 lane georgetown rd. highway. zip 28469 to make a right turn. when approaching next light 1 mile away i was afraid the brakes would fail. . brakes went back to normal now. still do not trust car. yesterday, april 16, 2018as checked by car repair business and said the abs computer activator was not working. nisssan would not let him access abs computer t0o reset numbers. this is very expensive to repair and should not be a problem. i am scared to drive this car. read this has been investigated since may 2017. is there a recall on 2009 nissan murano yet? please contact us about your investigation results.
Brake pedal lost pressure and pedal went to the floor causing a very long stopping distance. intermittent problem. appears to happen when i skid slightly while stopping like on sand on the road and it causes the abs to kick in but it will not disengage. too to mechanic to have it checked, turned it off and later when they went to check it the pedal had returned
The rear sub frame has rusted so much that the passenger side control arm for the wheel is loose, and the drivers side control arm broke away. there is surface rust on other components under the vehicle, but this part of the frame has completely deteriorated and renders the vehicle unusable unless the subframe and control arms are replaced. nissan consumer affairs will not address the problem other than to state that the vehicle is out of warranty. however, online research and information from my auto repair shop tell me that this is a common problem with murano's.
The abs system fails without warning leading to sudden loss of braking while driving
Hit a deer going 35 mph and deployed both front airbags. i was the passenger when my airbag went off it hit my face and fractured my maxilla, broke off one tooth and made another loose enough it had to be pulled out also. split upper and lower lip both needing stitches. do to the damage sustained and the airbags being deployed my insurance company found the car unrepairable and a total loss.
Traveling down i-5 at 60mph,75 degrees outside, the front sunroof glass literally exploded outward. we thought we had been shot, a very scary and dangerous experience.
Nissan refuses to recognize a known problem in the nissan rogue in it's big brother the nissan murano. the door actuator solenoid goes out and locks people into or out of their car, where the remote, key, door handle or crowbar cannot open the door causing a potentially fatal safety issue. if a passenger is unable to leave the vehicle in an emergency it could result in fatalities. i brought it to the dealership who offered to break my door panel to assess the issue, a $300+ expense to me, not to mention the labor breaking my door panel. once they were able to get into my door, they determined it was the actuator solenoid, which is a know rogue service order problem, and told me that would be an additional $575 to replace. i had started a case with nissan usa corporation regarding this, their response, "we'll see what we can do to help." they did nothing. disappointing. *tr
New vehicle was bought september 2009. on 04/26/2011, east charlotte nissan's mechanics changed transfer case because leaking. vehicle had 29,505 miles. on march 24, 2014, ecn's assistant service manager said it is necessary to change transfer case and gasket because leaking. vehicle had aprox 70,000 miles. after owner requested help to nc consumer protection, ecn's general manager replied neither of those leaks would be considered abnormal since repair was nearly three years and vehicle was driven 50,000 miles. also, he states that owner because his financial situation wants to get vehicle fixed at no cost and that is dishonest and unethical. owner never tried to get a free repair. he only would like to know: why transfer case and gasket should be changed every three years because leaking? however, the first time they were changed happened after one year and seven months and with less than 30,000 miles. *js
I am the 'second' owner. the vehicle was gifted to me by my son. it passed the autocheck vehicle history report. i received the vehicle 5/11/13. failure mileage is approximate. when starting engine huge amount of white smoke exits the 2 exhaust pipes engulfing entire vehicle. this happened continually every time i started engine. contacted nissan consumer affairs directly & was referred to dealership. my son spoke directly with dealership service department. the required 30,000 maintenance was performed. after 1 week dealership recommend new engine. i was 6 months past the warranty date, but nissan refused to honor it as i was a second owner. per my son's instructions dealership removed spark plugs to soak tops of pistons. let soak over night. performed a leak down test to find all the cylinders with 60% or more leakage from rings and valves, removed oil & performed 2 engine flushes, cleaned all oil out of intake maniford, reinstalled plugs, changed oil again, performed multiple road tests. preceding service included replacing engine air filter. performing idle learning procedure. fuel system serviced, cleaned fuel injectors & throttle body. removed all build up from throttle chamber & plate. performed fuel system service and 6 cyl tune up/6 22401-ew61c plug-sparks. serviced complete coolant system. serviced automatic transmission, exchanging fluids in case up to 6 quarts. performed front & rear differential fluid exchange. dealership kept vehicle 3-4 weeks, however problem still exists although intermittently.
The driver's side door began making a loud noise when the door was unlocked or locked. i went to the nissan dealership and was told it was be $575 to fix. i chose not to fix it at that time. now, a couple of months later, the door will not always lock when the button on the doorhandle is pushed or when the key fob is used. the door will continue to make the loud noise, but sometimes you have to try to lock the door 10-15 times before the door will lock. this is a concern as i need my doors to lock to protect items in the vehicle. also, i am afraid the door will not unlock or lock in the event of an emergency.
Takata recall .... my passenger airbag light has been on for about 3 yrs. now and when it has been hooked up to a computer results always come back the same... error in airbag. now i've contacted nissan and they are telling me that even though i may have a takata airbag my vin # is not on the recall list so therefore they cannot do anything about the problem. i would have to pay out of my own pocket to have it fixed. now they did tell me that according to their records and with the vin # that was given to them in oct 2008 my murano already had been serviced for passenger side airbag light staying on. so basically what they were saying was that my murano had already used the one free service check in oct 2008 for airbag. first of all, my vehicle is an 09, so nissan already admitted that according to their records and my vin # that i was already having airbag issues before the vehicle was released to be sold. i purchased it at beginning of 2012 and 2013 is when my airbag light came on. now i have had it cleared and seems like if it is cold cause i do live in ohio, but if i clear it today and it's not really cold it may not come on, but as soon as it gets cold it comes right back on. now there has been times where it has been cleared and as soon as you turn off the engine and start it back up it comes right back on. i also am having issues with tpms, no matter what tires i buy i am constantly battling the low tire pressure light. it's been taking to tire shops and been checked for slow leaks and leaks around the valve stem, nothing. i have also had to replace the motors in mt steering wheel because both of those went out on me. now my new issue is my air vents. when the defrost is on certain air vents do not shut off, air still comes through them. and in the winter i feel like there is cold air blowing up through the floor. no issues with 04 ...
Driving on i-79 - light out - many others on road - no debris - tire blew out - sensor on and immediate blowout - no prior problems and had not run over anything prior. nissan terribly unresponsive. had to proactively call them 10-20 times. 1st person couldn't converse in english - gave me false information. supervisor was constantly unavailable and never returned calls. ultimately they said they didn't have similar reports. i don't believe them. tire company said saw this problem many times - says the tire sensor corroded and fell into the tire which sprang the leak. found no other damage to tire. could have died on that highway. most people wouldn't take the time to write this so i'm doing it for them. shame on the company for doing nothing to research it further. wouldn't even pay for the tire.
