While adjusting the drivers side power seat, something in the power seat mechanism appears to have broke and the seat in now uneven, and feels like it is coming off the rails especially when going into a curve, where you must hang onto the steering wheel for balance which causes undue anxiety for fear of losing control. the seat feels like it is off the rails, and when i use the power seat adjuster, it only lifts one side of the seat. this happened over 2 years ago at about 45,0000 miles. i now have 70,000 miles. i have learned if you keep the seat adjusted so that its closest to the floor, then there is less of a feeling that the seat is coming off, than if the seat is adjusted to a higher position. i have chosen not to get this repaired solely due to the $1,100 expense which it appears to cost to repair this safety issue. it's an annoying issue, it reminds me of the ford i had as a teenager that i had to use rope to keep the driver door shut. *tr
While driving home after work on the interstate i heard a pop and the driver seat collapsed toward the driver door. after almost colliding with a vehicle in the adjacent lane i came to a safe stop on the shoulder and investigated the driver seat. i was able to move the seat 4-5 inches form the left rear toward the right front quadrant. i lowered the seat which took some of the play out of the seat and finished the drive home. after further investigation the metal seat frame had broken loose at two brackets. i'm still researching safe alternatives to fix the seat frame. the nissan dealer told me they had a tsb on the seat and the replacement frame had the same fatigue issues. this known deficiency by nissan is a safety hazard and needs to be addressed. *tr
The rear bracket on the driver side seat cracked. it was on the left side of the rear bracket. this caused the seat to be lower on that side. it also caused the seat to rock back and forth. *tr
Drivers side seat left rear bracket connecting the seat to the seat adjuster assembly broke, causing the seat to move freely up and down, especially while turning. this seems to be a common occurrence on this vehicle based on what i've read in forums. this could be very dangerous while you are turning your seat unexpectedly lifts up and could cause you to let go of the steering wheel and crash. the following webpage has comments from several murano owners who have experienced the same. http://www.nissanmurano.org/forums/66-problems/1548-drivers-seat-10.html. *tr
First problem was the driver side visor which kept flopping down causing a hazard blocking the driver's vision. second problem happen later, the driver seat broke while driving, left rear bracket broke. call and wrote to nissan customer service and was told both problems were out of warranty and they would not honor my claim. this is the third nissan that i have owned, and will never buy another nissan product. for a vehicle that has less than 100k miles to have these problems and for nissan not to cover the problem shows a true lack of customer service. *tr
While driving, the seat broke and sunk to the left causing me to swerve on the freeway into an adjacent lane. *tr
While taking a left hand turn, the drivers side seat broke..making it lean to the left. i fell into the door and swerved into the other lane. the seat now rocks back and forth like a rocking chair. *tr
Drivers side seat frame broke. the left rear bracket snapped while i was driving on freeway!!! this appears to be a common issue that nissan knows about. there should be a recall, as this is extremely dangerous! *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 nissan murano. the contact stated that the driver side seat was fractured. he had to place a brick under the seat in order for the seat to remain upright. the vehicle was taken to the dealer and the dealer advised that they needed to replace the frame of the seat. the manufacturer was contacted and but provided no assistance. the failure mileage was 67,229 and the current mileage was 67,635. updated 08-07-12 *bf
My wife took the kids out of the car to the house and return to put the murano'07 into the garage. when she sat in the seat it was loose and felt that it had broken. she said it felt loose when she went to pick up the kids. i checked the seat and it was broken on the bottom beam that supports the cushion to the seat. this should not have happened just from seating in the seat. also, took the vehicle to a nissan dealer and they stated that the seat assembly needs to be replaced which will cost about $1500.00. this is an outrageous price to pay for something that should have not broken from normal use. *js
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 nissan murano. the contact stated that while driving 25 mph, the left side bracket on the driver's seat fractured as the brakes were applied, causing the seat to lean forward. the seat would continuously rock back and fourth between acceleration and deceleration. the dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that they would not sell just the bracket separately and that he would have to replace the entire seat assembly. the manufacturer was not notified of the issue. the failure mileage was 35,800. updated 8/31/12 *cn updated 09/11/2012 *js
There was a pop and the left side of the drivers seat dropped down slightly. when i tried to adjust only right side of the seat would move up or down. looking on the internet this seams to be a big problem for nissan in these model years. reference service bulletin bt05-12d ntb085-043d dated december 16, 2009. if the seat was to fall back in would have caused an accident. *js
Seat lifter failed to raise the seat on left side side while the right side worked. dealer states this is a common failure for the murano (along with seat rails breaking). this is a safety issue as a driver needs the seat to be the right height to see out the windows and be able to use the mirrors. this should be covered by a recall on all affected nissan vehicles. *tt
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 nissan murano. while parked, the contact attempted to raise the front driver's seat and noticed that only part of the seat would rise. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for a diagnostic test. the mechanic stated that the seat harness would have to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 85,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 nissan murano. the contact was driving 55 mph when he heard something crack underneath the drivers seat. the failure caused the seat to wobble and become extremely unstable. the vehicle was not repaired. the dealer and manufacturer were not notified about the failure. the failure mileage was 97,000. the vin was unavailable.
My driver seat is wobbly . it rocks. i do not free safe. *tr
1. this is safety hazard and my biggest concern driver seat, left bracket broke. i was told by nissan dealer this is common problem but not covered by my platinum extended warranty which i purchased at team nissan in oxnard, ca i was also told the entire seat needs to be replaced to fix this problem. i have seen online that many people have had the same part break. i would hate to think about how this seat might break completely loose in a crash causing the driver to be propelled out the front windshield & possibly killed. nissan needs to recall & fix this part! 2. passenger front window goes up & down randomly. .i have to keep the windows locked so it doesn't go down making my car vulnerable for theft because more than a few times i came out in the morning to find it down. also, when trying to put it up, once it closes it then rolls right back down. 3. electric door locks sometimes don't all lock with key fob. usually driver door & sometimes other doors don't lock when using key fob. i have to check all four doors every time i lock the car. *tr
I was getting into the vehicle when i heard a loud crack and the drivers seat started to wobble. sure enough like dozens of other "victims" the front bracket connecting the seat to the frame snapped. thank goodness i was parked when this happened. luckily. i was able to have the dealership weld the seat frame together, but they admit it probably will not hold for long. nissan is well aware of this issue and refuses to do anything about it except force their customers to pay $1000 or more to have the seat replaced. they claim it is not a safety issue, so unfortunately i guess it will take someone getting killed and the subsequent lawsuit to get their attention. poor design on something that should not wear out over the life of the car and worse yet is the manufacturer's attitude toward their customer base for a known and well documented flaw. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 nissan murano. the contact was driving 20 mph when the bottom of the driver's seat fractured from the track. the contact had to hold herself up with the steering wheel while carefully maneuvering off the roadway. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis where the dealer advised that the link assembly and the motor assembly needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was contacted and stated that they were not responsible for the repairs. the failure mileage was 63,000 and the current mileage was 64,453.
There is a local used auto dealer selling this murano and has sold another one yesterday a 2005 with the same diagonal tilting drivers seat issue that is a safety problem and the cost when a dealer looked at it and said that the lifter link slide assembly was broken was $600 to fix. he also stated there has been a service bulletin open for years on the murano in general for this issue. the local dealer told me that it was normal and has sold many with this same issue used. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 nissan murano. the contact stated that while entering the vehicle, he noticed that the driver's seat was not attached to the frame. the seat bracket was also fractured. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer and the manufacturer was not contacted. the failure mileage was 57,000 and the current mileage was 63,000.
Driver's side power seat will not move forward or backward anymore. it is stuck at the far back position. nissan says that the part replacement would cost around $1000 plus labor. this is not a part that is supposed to wear out and too expensive. it is a safety hazard not to be able to move the seat forward, but i can't afford to spend $1300 to fix this issue. from a forum online, it appears that many, many people have had this same problem with the nissan murano driver's seat and nissan is refusing to accept this as a design flaw and fix them. *tr
As with all of the other complaints regarding the seats, it appears that my front driver side seat has the same problem. it rocks back and forth and i can see that the bracket has snapped. nissan needs to be held responsible for this safety issue. there wasn't an accident that caused this and i'm not obese. i'm sure if there was an accident this problem would render the airbags as ineffective. i was driving and going around a turn when i noticed it rocking. i do know if i had to stop abruptly i'd probably end up through the windshield. i don't think consumers should bear the cost of $1500 for a seat only to have it happen again in another 4 years which is how long i've owned the car. *tr *js
The passenger side seat began to rock side to side. there was not accident or any thing. it was fine on the way to the store but getting back into the seat when leaving the store we noticed the rocking of the seat. after taking it to the shop that night we were informed that the seat frame was broken. the weld had failed. after talking with the mechanic we were informed that this is a fairly common problem. a very expensive problem that can hurt people. if not fixed this could lead to serious injuries in an accident. why is nissan not responsible for fixing this common problem that can harm their customers? *tr
I was driving on the interstate at 65 mph and heard a popping sound. my seat moved and then it started rocking. it scared me so bad that i pulled off the road to see what happened. i could tell that something serious had broken and drove back home to find that the weld had come apart. i felt like i was driving, sitting in a rocking chair. this is a serious problem and should be fixed and paid for by nissan. i have never owned a vehicle that the seat broke like this. we have had some of our cars and trucks over 15 years! if this is not a recall problem then nissan has lost me and my family as customers for life. *tr
Upon entering my murano and backing out of my driveway there was a loud snap. the seat began to tilt. drove straight to the dealership. they informed me that the bracket that holds the seat had sheared off and the only fix was to replace the seat to the cost of about $1500. i am very glad i wasn't traveling at a high rate of speed when this occurred. it seems ridiculous that a 4 year old car would have metal underneath a seat breaking unless it was being put under tremendous weight. as an average sized person this seems completely the fault of the manufacturer. *tr
Driver seat rear structure broke, seat unhinged from base, leaving chair rocking as i drive or turn. *tr
While stopping at a stop sign - going approximately 5 mph we heard a loud cracking sound from the driver front seat. upon inspection, we noticed that the rivet that holds the seat on the seat rail completely snapped off. this is faulty workmanship or inferior products in my mind as i've had a toyota and ford in the past and never had any issues with the seats. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 nissan murano. while driving 20 mph, the driver's seat moved independently forward and backward. the vehicle was taken to a dealer. the technician diagnosed that the track for the seat fractured and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. the vehicle was taken to a dealer again. the technician diagnosed that the track for the seat needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was unknown.
Seat motor twisted seat clockwise while moving making the pedals unreachable by wife. seat cannot be adjusted front and back now and only twists as there is no movement on right side of seat. *tr
Bracket holding drivers seat broke. seat lifts up on left side. nissan said they would not cover this safety issue. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 nissan murano. the contact stated that while driving 45 mph , the driver's seat fell backward abnormally. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where they stated to the contact that the seat frame was fractured. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 100,000 and the current mileage was unknown.
Driver seat track assembly broke, front right of track ( weld broke). seat rocks. safety issue and nissan will not cover under our extended warrenty. dealership claims that they have never seen this before - state is usually breaks in rear of track. *tr
When i initially purchased my 2007 murano, the driver-side electric seat would rock slightly when leaning forward or back. recently the frame connecting the front of the seat (just under the cushion) to the floor frame snapped and caused the entire seat to fold backwards. luckily i had just pulled into my driveway and was able to step on the brake and put it in park before i was in an accident. upon examination, the frame necessary to secure the seat to the floor was woefully inadequate. i have searched the internet and have found many others complaining of the same issue. *tr
The driverside seat bracket broke. there are four mounts on the driverside seat that hold the powerseat to the vehicle.the left rear of bracket of the seat bracket essential snapped. the driver weighs no more than 190 pounds. the owner went to three nissan dealerships and they acknowledged the issue, but nissan has declined to make the repair. if the vehicle is in accident then there is a high likelihood that the driver will not be held in place as forward momentum will force the driver into the steering wheel or through the windshield. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 nissan murano. the contact stated that while driving 40 mph the driver's side seat broke. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the seat assembly needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure, but did not offered any assistance since the vehicle was no longer under warranty. the vehicle had not been repaired. the failure and current mileage was 48,000. the vin was unavailable.
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 nissan murano. the contact stated that the driver seat would wobble from side to side abnormally. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure and the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 65,000 and the current mileage was 67,000.
I have a 2007 nissan murano. the driver side left weld bracket broke on my seat. i am the only driver of this car and i am a female weighing 140 pounds. i don't think that is an excessive amount of weight for a seat to hold. this has created a huge safety hazard for me... and it's going to cost me around $1200 to fix. this doesn't seem right to me... i have seen a lot of complaints about this same issue. why hasn't nissan stepped in and issued a recall to make this right before someone gets seriously injured or killed, due to this issue. i'm thinking of getting rid of this car and moving on... i was under the impression that nissan made a quality vehicle that was built to last and safe, but what kind of vehicle is safe that can't safely hold a 140 pound female into her seat??? wake up nissan and do the right thing!!!! *tr
The driver-side seat frame broke on my 2007 nissan murano after normal use only. i was lucky that it broke while the car was parked. since the seat drops suddenly when the frame breaks, this is an obvious safety hazard. nissan did not offer to repair the seat. they told me the part alone costs $950 and i would have to pay for it before they would even order the part. *kb
Driver seat became unsecure. *tr
Approx. 2 months ago, i noticed that the drivers seat of my vehicle was wobbling. the vehicle has 65,000 miles on it. upon inspection, i found that the left, rear portion of the seat was no longer attached to the body of the car. the seat moves when i enter and exit the car and it leans while making turns driving the vehicle. i checked on line for any possible recalls related to this issue, as the seat should not be loose and i see it as a huge safety risk should i be in a collision. the seat is not secured to the body of the vehicle. i found many consumer complaints related to this issue involving not only the 2007 year model, but other year models as well. many of the individuals stated that they had contacted their nissan dealership as well as corporate nissan and were told that this defect is not involved in a recall because it is not a safety issue, yet they will recall an air cleaner tube that has a tendency to come loose. the dealerships will repair the common defect for more than a $1000. i sense that this issue has already come to your attention, after seeing the number of complaints reported. please help us to get nissan to the next right thing by backing their product and more importantly, repairing a gross defect that absolutely makes their vehicles affected, unsafe to drive. thank you for your consideration. *tr
The seatbelt release mechanism has become intermittent (sticky) over the past several weeks. this appears to be due to the collapse of the driver's seat frame, which occurred on this vehicle several months ago. the seat belt appears to be anchored to the seat frame on the right side, and to the vehicle body on the left side. the wobbling motion of the driver's seat due to the collapsed frame appears to affect the seat belt tension, which may be affecting the operation of the release mechanism. i am awaiting the safety recall on both of these issues. *kb
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 nissan murano. the contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the driver seat suddenly collapsed backward, causing him to lose control of the vehicle. the vehicle was then inspected by the dealer and they advised him that there were two brackets that were fractured and the entire seat would need replacing. the manufacturer was then contacted and they advised the contact that the failure was caused by wear and tear. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 22,050.
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 nissan murano. while driving at approximately 30 mph, the contact heard a crack within the front driver side seat. the front driver side seat began to slide back and forth independently. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostics where the technician advised that the seat track assembly would need to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 22,051.
2007 nissan murano driver's seat frame, rear left weld broke as i got into my car. it made the seat wobble back and forth creating a very serious safety hazard not only in controlling the vehicle, but also if there were a crash. car was taken to a dealership for appraisal. the quote was for $1400. nissan consumer affairs would not cover it under "good will". i am not a large man and the seat brackets should not break after 4 years on entering and exiting the vehicle. *tr
Broken drivers seat (power leather seat). left rear seat support/frame appears to be broken. driver's seat has no support from left rear part of frame - tilted back toward the left rear corner and rocks on the left side. also appears to be unrestrained (can rock forward)on left rear corner. *tr
The driver seat hydraulic mechanism broke and the seat does not move forward or backward making it dangerous for the driver that needs to adjust the seat. *tr
The driver's seat started to rock under acceleration and braking on my wife's 2007 (built in 2008) which at times makes the vehicle hard to control. this was initially repaired by busam nissan under warranty on aug. 3rd, 2010. the warranty expired in march of 2011. two (2) months after this the seat began to rock just like before. i took it to busam and the service manager said $1,400 to repair. you can guess my reaction. a nissan repair by the dealer should be covered for at least a yr. and since this is the 2nd occasion in les than a yr. one would think they might be concerned. i was advised to call nissan customer service and talked to [xxx] in tn.. she did lvm 3 days later saying to contact her. i called numerous times and lvms for her. 5 days later she called and got my wife. sorry, nissan is not responsible. that's it. i have been trying to contact her for 2 weeks now to no avail. there are 20 pages of complaints on edmunds.com alone plus numerous complaints on the nissan forum and also on this site. the parts used to replace the seat are now combined into an $800 complete part which includes the two (2) parts replaced in august, 2010. the part #'s ' have been changed but i have found a cross reference and they are included in the new assembly. this must of concern to nissan as this makes it easier for a dealership to diagnosis and repair. this is now getting to be a dangerous situation and i expected busam to stand beside me but they would not. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).*tr
My front driver seat has become loose and rocks up and down. the dealer says the seat bottom frame is broken and needs to be replaced ,but will not accept any responsibility for the faulty part. *tr
2007 nissan murano sl power seat drivers side seat bracket broke at weld causing the seat to rock back and forth dangerously. this is an item i have never heard of breaking. in my opinion, nissan should recall the muranos and fix them free of charge. i will be fixing the problem at carmax with my extended warranty, hopefully. *tr
