Recently reported VISIBILITY problems on 2006 Nissan Murano

Nissan murano 2006; repeating sun visor failure on driver and passenger side began in late 2009; distracting during driving when visor drops in front of line of vision. visors will not stay up and out of line of vision. this is a definite safety issue. *tr

Driver side sun visor does not stay in position. this causes impairment of driver line of sight. nissan charges $500 for part alone and is not dealing with it as a safety/warranty issue. *tr

Driver's side sunvisor began to drop when car hits a bump, going over rough roads and at random times. now it drops all the time causing the vision of the driver to be blocked and causing potential safety issues. i have extended warrenty but its not covered and was told by the dealer it would cost $520.00. this issue must be solved for safety reasons. with multiple complaints nissan should consider a recall. *tt

Approx 8/2009 i had my driver side visor replaced after sudden failure to remain upright. it would flop down while driving to block expected view and/or stay at an angle that would have hit me right in the middle of my forehead, being tall, as is my husband, should an accident cause any forward body movement. nissan has replaced the driver side under warranty and now just 1 day ago the passenger side also did the exact same failure. my husband was the passenger and he kept saying "boy i don't like this would catch me right in the middle of my forehead if we got hit" it won't stay up so it has to always stay down now which restricts night time driving. i "googled" murano visor complaints and there are many of the exact same complaints!!! i would like to request you review this as a big danger for visual restriction during night or sudden unexpected limits during day driving upon dropping down and possible facial injury upon any impact. thank you very much. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 nissan murano. a spring broke in the sun visor, which caused the visor to repeatedly fall into his face. no repairs were made to date. the failure mileage was 66,000. the current mileage was 66,423.

Sunvisor falls down creating blind hazard. *tr

2006 murano sun visor on drivers side suddenly falls and blocks vision. not a retaining clip issue but an internal friction failure to the up / down pivot system. *tr

I own a 2006 nissan murano. recently, my driver's side sun visor will not hold a downward adjustment. it stays (for now) in the upward position but when i put it down to block the sun it dangles, is the best way i can describe it. i have to use one hand to hold it in the position needed to block the sun. it is either all the way up or all the way down, no position in between. this is a safety hazard for two reasons. taking one hand off the steering wheel is a big safety hazard and not using the visor when i have to use two hands on the wheel is blinding. if a car, person or animal should move into my path i would have difficulty seeing them without the visor down. i live in the mountains and driving up the hill home is very difficult when driving into the sun. it is getting weaker when holding the upward position, it will get to the point that it will not stay up at all. when i asked the nissan dealer about repairing it i was given a price of $450.00 just for the part not including labor. i have an extended warranty on my car and feel nissan should be covering this under warranty because of the safety hazards. *tr

2006 nissan murano: driver side sun visor will not stay in the up position. flops down half way impeding line of sight through windshield. this is a safety hazard. nissan will not replace the part free of charge even though this seems to be a common problem and is charging $400 for this part. *tr

Sun visor repeatedly falls in front of the drivers face - minimizing visibility and requiring you to take your hand off the steering wheel. dangerous at times - since it happens almost constantly. *tr

The driver side sun visor on my 2006 nissan murano is defective and is no longer covered under the manufacturer warranty. it has not been overused, however, the visor falls abruptly at various times while driving blocking the driver's vision momentarily. it has not caused an accident, however, driving with it as it is can possibly cause an accident during that moment of obstructed vision while driving on a highway, especially at night time. the dealer or the extended warranty for my vehicle does not cover this cost and the replacement cost is ridiculously expensive. *tr

Both visors on my 2006 nissan murano have stopped working properly and become a safety hazard. this vehicle is only about 5 years old and already both visors have lost their tension causing them to fall down while driving, blocking the view of the driver. also they will not stay where they are placed, so they do not serve the purpose of blocking the sun making them more hazardous. a complaint was filed with nissan corporate (file number [xxx]) in march of 2010, but they denied the claim. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6)*tr

While driving my 2006 murano, i went over a set of train tracks which is quickly followed by an intersection. just before i hit the tracks, a car pulled out in front of me from the upcoming intersection. as i went over the tracks applying the brakes, the drivers side sunvisor dropped obstructing my view of traffic. i nearly missed an accident. the sunvisor falling into the drivers view at random is a definite problem. i have searched the forums online and found this to be a common problem for the sunvisors to fail. a replacement at the dealer is about $500. nissan does not see the safety issue in this and will not replace the dangerous sunvisors once out of the 3 year 36000 mile warranty. mine failed at 3 years and 2 months, with 32000 miles on the vehicle. i tell you about the one time i almost was in a serious accident because of the sunvisor, but it falls down in my face on a regular basis. about every 20 or so minutes of driving. nissan needs to recall their dangerous sunvisors, they can drop down in the drivers view at any time. i nearly hit a lady in the drivers door. *tr

On my 2006 nissan murano, the driver's side sun visor will not stay in the up position and causes difficulty seeing. i either have to "hunch down" to see well or hold the visor up with one hand. *tr

Driver's side visor will not stay up. *tr

Drivers side flip-down sunvisor will not stay in the up position. it will come down by itself and block the vision of the driver. numerous complaints about this condition in online blogs. nissan will not replace. *tr

Both passenger and drive sun visors will not stay up, resulting in obstructed vision while driving. *tr

Driver's-side visor suddenly became unable to stay at a secure angle, which causes a recurring visibility problem. it no longer stays at a secure position if it is not flipped up flat against the headliner. this precludes using it as intended to block sun from shining directly into driver's eyes. if not flat against the headliner, it only hangs straight down and completely blocks line-of-sight while driving, regardless of whether the visor's end is secured or not in its clip. to avoid sun shining directly and unsafely into eyes, it's necessary to hold the visor at necessary angle with one hand, leaving only one hand on the steering wheel. it may sound like a minor problem - - until you regularly experience having to make a choice between being literally blinded by the sun while driving or having to use one hand to hold the visor up. it is no longer covered by my now-expired 36 mo/3 yr warranty. dealers estimate to repair: $400.00. *tr

The driver side sunvisor on my 2006 nissan murano refuses to stay up and continually drops in front of my face while driving unless i hold it with one hand. nissan knows the problem and refuses to help for less than $400-$500. *tr

The driver's side sun visor compulsively lowers to the lowest setting causing gross and unexpected vision obstruction. it will not stay in any position other than completely up or completely down. *tr

My 2006 nissan murano sun visor does not stay in place. it always drops all the way down. sun visor cannot be adjusted the way you wanted it. dealer charge $350.00 to replace the part in order to fix it and in think it is a ridiculous amount. a lot of muranos owner are having the same issues on their vehicles and i think this is a safety issue that needs to be taken care of and corrected by nissan. *tr

2006 nissan murano. sun visors keep falling down obstructing view. please have nissan issue a recall to fix this problem. thanks. *tr

2006 nissan murano sl driver and passenger side sun visors suddenly drop without warning; when needed to block the sun when driving they do not stay in place, they just hang straight down. the visors started falling within 1 month of each other; it is not covered under warranty; replacements cost $400 apiece. i feel the cost is prohibitive and unreasonable and should be included in a recall as it causes a safety hazard when driving. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 nissan murano. the contact stated both the driver's and passenger's side sun visors had failed and were obstructing the contact's view of the roadway. the dealer replaced the driver's sun visor at their expense however, advised that the passenger's sun visor would be the contact's responsibility. the manufacturer confirmed the dealer's statement and would not provide any further assistance. the failure and current mileages were 50,000. updaetd 10/27/10. *lj

2006 nissan murano. problem began ~40k mileage. driver's side visor will no longer stay in up position for more than few minutes of driving, less if any bumps in the road. the visor cannot be set to hold any position other than vertical at 90 degrees, causing severe diminished visibility. visor will drop without warning creating hazard. repair estimate is $400. have been unable to locate used part for replacement. visor temporarily held in place with package sealing tape, but this too is a hazard if needing to use visor to shield direct sunlight. hundreds of complaints about this problem found on internet search. appears to be faulty part from nissan. severe accidents are only a matter of time. *tr

Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6) vin [xxx] 2006 murano sun visor driver side has been hanging, won't stay up or down. also, the driver seat is rocking while driving because it's tilted on the left side. *tr

Driver's side sun visor falls while driving. can cause obstruction of vision. *tr

2006 nissan murano w/ 35,000 mi. - driver's side sun visor won't stay in position- very dangerous- sun in eyes and must hold it in place. dealer wants over $400.00 to replace!!! *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2006 nissan murano. the contact stated that the driver side sun visor would not stay up in position. the visor would randomly fall in his view. the dealer stated that he would assume liability for the repairs. the vehicle was not repaired when the complaint was filed. the contact had not spoken with the manufacturer when the complaint was filed. the vin was unavailable. the current mileage was approximately 65,000. the failure mileage was approximately 50,000.

The driver's side sun visor is defective. it will unexpectedly fall from a partially or fully up position into my line of sight. *tr

2006 nissan murano sunvisors (driver and passenger) continually drop down during driving. they rotate from a "up" position to a "down" position on their own. average road vibration / driving conditions constantly causes this to happen. once the visors are "down", they block the view of the road while driving. these are not covered under normal factory warranty or extended warranty. part cost for each visor is $400.00 from nissan....does not include installation costs. nissan will not replace these under recall / warranty / tsb. looking to get resolution to this problem, as it seems to be rather widespread / occurring amongst fellow murano owners. *tr

Driver's side sunvisor partially hangs down. *tr

My driver side sun visor on my 2006 nissan murano does not stay in place and falls down in my line of site. it will not stay open or closed. it just hangs down, blocking my view. i have since removed it from the vehicle, as the dealer wants $400 to replace it. *tr

Sun visor on 2006 murano does not stay up or in the proper place. i have to either hold or use my hand as a shield from glare of sun. i am very disappointed to see that others have the same complaint. i always felt that the interior quality of the murano was good. i believe that there should be a recall since this does not appear to be an isolated incident. *tr

Driver side sun visor will not stay up, all the time. *tr

My driver side sun visor has failed and pops down with every hard bump in the road. this seems to have failed on a lot of 2006 nissan murano's. this is a safety issue if it blocks sight at the wrong time. *tr

The sun visor on the drivers side of my 06 nissan murano falls down constantly blocking my view when i am driving. it has been replaced once but now the replacement has been doing the same thing. sometimes it will stay up for half an hour and then other times it falls every 5 minutes. *tr

Driver side sun visor fails to stay up. this causes a vision problem that impedes driving severely!! *tr

The driver side sun visor falls down during driving. there are tons of complaints from other nissan drivers who are having the same problem with the same and different year model. this is a serious safety hazard and should be the responsibility of nissan to recall and fix. i have nearly crashed dozens of times while driving because the visor falls down and blocks my view. *tr

Sun visor flips down, blocking driver's view unexpectedly. *tr

The sun visors on my 2006 nissan murano, both driver and passenger side, fail to stay in place. they continually fall down and are in the line of vision of the driver. this is clearly a safety issue as the driver is momentarily blinded at the least. it also causes the driver to jump and may have an end result of a jerked wheel. we have attempted to fix this on numerous occasions, but the $400 estimate for each shade seems far too steep to pay, especially when i see this is a very common problem for nissan muranos of all years. *tr

Left and right sun visors on 2006 nissan murano became floppy/droopy (i.e. would not stay in position) in 2008. very dangerous as they droop down into the eye's of driver or passenger and won't hold position when needed to block out sun. *tr

I own a 2006 nissan murano that has a defective part in the driver's side visor causing it to fall in the driver's face. the only way to fix is to use velcro or hold up with one hand while driving. this is dangerous as the velcro is only a temporary fix as it is not strong enough to hold up the heavy visor and continually falls in the face of the driver. the visor malfunction started happening around 50k miles and is not covered under nissan's warranty. the visor can be replaced, but at a cost of near $500. i feel that this defect in the visor should be covered by nissan as it is a safety hazard while driving. i believe this to be a widespread problem as i have read similar complaints on nissan auto forums. *tr

My 2006 nissan murano sun visor will not stay up , it will drop down at will and block drivers view. a real safety issue. nissan is aware of the problem but will not do anything about it. it is on several year models of nissans, especially the murano. dealer wants 450.00 to replace it. *tr

Tl* - the contact has a 2006 nissan murano. the contact stated that in the midst of driving the windshield wipers would completely stop working until the following day. the contact stated that this was a design problem because the ice went down below the hood, and it stopped the windshield wipers from working. the ice prevented the windshield wipers from going all the way down and then come back up. the contact stated that the windshield wipers must be able to go all the way down in order for them to work properly. she would just like to have it fixed, because she did not want to be afraid to drive in a storm. the contact was told by the dealer that she should lift the hood and clean the area where the windshield wipers were. this happened once before in another storm, and she was able to get the windshield wipers going again. each time this happened the contact was in a bad storm. the failure and current mileage were both 4600 .*ak update *4/23/07 *tr

The defective design of the driver-side visor in our 2006 nissan murano results in a safety hazard because the visor will not stay up - it falls down, blocking the driver's view. drivers are either forced to drive with one hand on the wheel while trying to hold the visor up with the other; or driving with a very restricted view of the road with the visor hanging down. replacement visors are no better - they fail within a few weeks of being installed. according to websites we have visited, the design defect of the visor is common among nissan murano models of many other years also. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 nissan murano. the contact stated the driver side seat would rock back and forth abnormally. the dealer stated that the seat had fractured from the frame and would need to be replaced. the seat was not under warranty or recall. the contact stated that the visor on the driver side was also fractured. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 54,127 and the current mileage was 70,000.

The driver's side sun visor on my 2006 nissan murano will not stay up. it suddenly falls vertically down and obstructs my vision. *tr
