A bracket on the driver's side power seat has broken, and the seat tilts to one side and also forward. it is loose and will move forward several inches when i decelerate/accelerate or get in/out of the vehicle. this problem has occurred under normal use. the vehicle has not been in an accident nor anything other than ordinary driving on streets. the broken bracket appears to be very small for a weight-bearing piece. this piece would certainly not survive a crash. if still intact, the piece would certainly break during a crash. this could cause the driver's seat to move dangerously close to the steering wheel, allowing the driver to possibly impact the steering wheel or windshield. i have not repaired this yet, as i need to decide what route to take. apparently the dealership charges about $1,000 to repair/replace the offending part, but they will replace it with the same fragile part. it appears that contacting a professional welder may be a better choice, as they can weld the pieces together and strengthen the pieces too. *tr
A bracket in the drivers side seat in my 2005 nissan muran has broken causing the seat to list to one side and to rock whenever the vehicle stops or corners. i am aware that this is a widespread problem with this make and model. *tr
The track assembly in the driver's side power seat failed. when engaged the motor assembly would not move forward or backward but instead would cause the entire seat to swivel to the right. prior the failure there was a grinding noise. any attempt to shift the position of the seat while driving could have caused a serious problem. *tr
Seat support on driver's seat broke. read on internet about several similar failures. 2005 nissan murano, 70,000 miles. *tr
Driver's side seat has broken frame not covered by nissan. seems to be a defective frame. currently 25 complaints on nhtsa. nissan should address issue. *tr
As i was leaving my garage, i heard a click and a snap and realized (after my seat started leaning to the left) that the driver's seat on my 2005 nissan murano broke. luckily i wasn't in heavy traffic and was able to pull over. it is unbelievable that nissan has yet to voluntarily recall this defect. currently the vehicle is at the dealer and i am waiting for nissan to take responsibility for this issue. this is the 3rd incident i have had with this truck. *tr
The driver seat of my 2005 nissan murano is not well fixed....its loose on the left side. if i have a major accident the seat can come off. i think this a safety issue. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2005 nissan murano. while driving 30 mph, the driver side seat tilted to the left when she made a turn. as a result, the contact hit her head on the driver side window. the dealer inspected the vehicle and recommended she replace the entire seat. the contact filed a complaint with nissan however; they refused to cover the damages. the current mileage was 67,000 and failure mileage was 65,519. the consumer stated the brakcet sheared off due to what he believed was a manufacturer's defect.
The drivers seat on my 2005 nissan murano s is defective. the frame under the seat that holds the seat to the chassis of the vehicle somehow broke off at one of the corners. when sitting in the seat, the seat rocks side to side. i've owned the vehicle since october 2007, and the problem arose about 6 months after owning the vehicle. this issue is very worrying because it feels as if the seat is not held on properly, and feels as if the seat is going to completely come off the frame. i contacted nissan and i was told that the issue will cost about $1,000 to repair because its not covered by nissan. this problem needs to become a recall because the problem seems to affect thousands of nissan murano owners. the problem has gotten worse and worse as time has passed. *tr
My 2005 nissan murano's driver's seat snapped and broke when simply going around a curve at a low rate of speed. the car had 38,000 miles on it and was only 2 years old. i took it to the dealership and they admitted to me that it was a defective seat bracket, but that the company was not going to cover it- not the dealership, and not the car manufacturer. they admitted that they had fixed many, many muranos with this same defect in the past two years. because it was a safety hazard, and the car is leased, i was stuck with a $1,200 repair bill ($800 for the part, a whole new seat track and $400 for labor). i appealed to nissan corporation because the internet is buzzing with reports of this being a documented defect and engineering flaw, and they told me that they were not planning on doing anything about it- i was stuck paying the entire amount! i felt ripped off to the max! since i have a 3 year old and the seat flopped around at will when i was driving, i felt like i has no choice but to fix it because i was afraid of a crash. nissan should be ashamed of themselves, and so should brown's nissan of sterling, virginia! before this i was quite happy with the car, but no more- i feel cheated and robbed by nissan and brown's. *tr
Back in february, 2008, the driver's seat on my 2005 murano malfunctioned--specifically, the seat was not loose, but all of a sudden would not slide forward on the right side thereby creating a grinding noise and a slight and unnatural swivel of the seat to the left. i took it to the dealership for repair. part number 87450-ca684 was the "offending" part per my invoice. all other power seat features were operating fine. i asked the service manager what would cause this and he said he didn't know, but they had seen 5 such incidents in the past 2 months. this got me wondering if this was a widespread issue. so, i found a nissan online club of owners reporting seat failures. i have been tracking this for months and now have gotten to the point where i believe this is a serious issue that deserves reporting and nhtsa attention. fortunately, my repair was covered under my extended warranty sans a $50 deductible. but, consistent with all these postings, the service manager indicated this is typically a $700 repair. while i accept that things break, i, too, am disappointed, but as i indicated more and more concerned after reading post after post at this site (please goto http://townhall-talk.edmunds.com/webx/.f14ec7a?displayrecent) for all the posts. as an fyi, the broken part is not available. *tr
The power seat for the driver has a stripped screw causing the whole seat to move left when trying to move forward. dealer said whole new seat assembly is needed. *tr
I own a 2005 nissan murano sl awd and earlier this year the drivers seat has started to rock back and forth. my wife is 5'2 and i am 6'2 so there is a need to move the power seat regularly. the seat now sits slightly left to right or right to left. the nissan murano forum has indicated that this has been a problem from the 2003 edition and still continues to be. my car is out of warranty so it would be a $1000 repair out of pocket. this is an unsafe situation and apparently caused by the seat base metal breaking. there are great pictures of this on the forum site. nissan hasn't recalled this and it is obviously a safety concern. *tr
Driver's side seat frame broke on exterior side. angle bracket with hinge pin snapped in (2) two places. *tr
My boyfriend was driving my car on the i-10 when he suddenly heard a loud crack and the seat was suddenly lopsided. i therefore brought the car into my local nissan dealership to see about having it repaired and if my warranty would cover it. i was informed that parts and labor would cost $846, i also had to pay the $90 whether or not i was going to have it repaired. i contacted my warranty company and was told that after careful consideration they would not cover it because it happened after the 36000 mile. my car had roughly 60k miles at the time of the occurrence. i now have to ride with two large phone books under my seat in order to drive. i asked that a supervisor contact me and no one ever did. i now have 72k miles and would like to see about repairing this before it hits 100k. i am not quite sure of the date but i do know that it was sometime in january. *tr
Drivers seat frame broken second time. *tr
Nissan '05 murano power driver's seat broken several time i took it the first time to the dealer and got it fix for $1200 than broke again last month i reported the issue with nissan but they wont resolve the issue. i think it is a very serious issue that should be taking care off. god for bet i get to an accident i could easily fly out of the car. this is a bad safety issue and need to pay attention to. *tr
While driving down the highway i could hear what could best be described as a combination click and snap. at the same time i felt the lower left side of the drivers seat move. after further investigation (pictures available), i found that a supporting bracket has sheared in two places. this causes the seat to be very loose. one of the power seat functions will cause the seat to raise up only on the right side. *tr
I heard about the breaking of the driver seat, it just happened to me on my 2005 nissan murano. first the seat would be lose like excessive movement for some time, then all of the sudden it will eventually break. *tr i am about 250 ponds and that dose not seam to be excessive enough to break the back bottom cross bar under the drivers seat. (i'm sure this is a expensive repair) this was very dangerous and scary for someone who is unsuspecting of this issue. thanks for reading.
Power drivers side seat in nissan murano 2005 jammed on the right side after 50,000 miles. *tr
The driver's seat suddenly broke, which startled me and caused me and the seat to lean back and to the left. the seat seems to be anchored on the right, but is loose on the back left, so it now rocks back and forth - especially when cornering. i read online of many other instances of this occurring with other nissan murano owners but there does not yet seem to be a recall. there is, however, a nissan tsb out on this subject, #05-043c. *cn
My power seat on my 2005 nissan murano came loose and lifts up when turning a corner. the dealer where i bought the new car said the entire power seat bracket is broken and is unsafe. the cost to repair it is $1,000.00. my car is just out of warranty, but i feel they should cover this safety issue. they refused. i feel this repair should be covered because it is obviously a manufacturing defect. *tr
11/27/07 problem: air bag light flashing. (two occurrences) diagnostic conducted 11/25/07 and 11/27/07. at the first service dealer could not determine diagnostic codes and i was asked to bring vehicle in 11/27/07 a complete diagnostic was conducted. according to dealership diagnostic codes the passenger side seat needs to be replaced with costs exceeding $1000. the seats, thus far appear to be in tack. what does seat cushion have to do with airbag or its sensor? the vehicle is less than years 2 years new with approx. 51,000 miles. concerns: vehicle safety and proper deployment of airbags. i was informed by dealership that this is common in muranos and pathfinders. if so, why hasn't there been a recall w/o costs to consumer. after reviewing similar complaints submitted by other consumers, it appears to me that safety concerns exists including but not limited to the risks of injury to a passenger. in addition, the actual cause and final repair resolution remains unknown and unresolved. (see other consumer complaint no. 10208537) it is not a coincidence that my vehicle's airbag indicator failed around the same mileage as the other. who is to say that the airbag will not malfunction in case of accident? (please also see consumer complaint no 10199625 & c.c. no. 10196794) *tr
While i was driving on highwayi45 north i wanted to move my seat back that was when my seat broke; i hit my head on the passenger side window and almost had an accident took it the dealer and they knew exactly what had happen they told me that they have service a lot of muranos for that same reason. cost 995.00 plus tax. *tr
Driver seat came detached from car. *tr
While driving the car, my front seat suddenly broke pitting me towards the driver side window. seat was leaning toward the driver side window. on wednesday, october 17, 2007 brought my 2005 nissan murano to the nissan dealer located in morristown, nj (open road nissan service department). i was told that the driver side seat frame broke. in order to fix the driver side seat frame of the vehicle, the cost to would be $900 plus dollars. what if i were in an accident - this seat may have been a factor to serious injury. why is a seat frame breaking on a vehicle with 48,500 miles - not yet three years old. i keep my cars for more than 10 years and no vehicle i ever owned did a seat just break. seems to me this is a dangerous situation that needs to be reviewed on nissan muranos. i am very concerned for safety of this vehicle. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2005 nissan murano. the contact stated that the left side of the driver's seat detached from the structure of the vehicle. the dealer stated that the front seat should be replaced; however, they did not provide the cause of the failure. as of november 9, 2007, the dealer had not repaired the vehicle. the failure mileage was 50,000 and current mileage was 51,000.
Drivers seat rocks to the left. was informed by jim mills nissan that the seat track was bad, $716 to replace. not covered under extended warranty. this was on aug.22, 2007. filed a complaint with nissan. now were having problems with drivers side sunvisor falling down while your driving and passenger door lock not securing all the way. the lock mechanism will go part of the way and stop. all of the items above are safety issues that need to be addressed by nissan. yes, i purchased the extended warranty. *tr

The iron bracket on the passenger side of the seat if broken. the dealership stated that it was normal wear and tear. the vehicle (nissan murano 2005) should be able to withstand more that just 2 years of use. i have further proof where other owners of the same vehicle have experienced the same problem on the driver's side of the vehicle. i also had purchase extended warranty on the vehicle and the dealership stated i didn't have it, and it is not covered. i know there is something that can be done. i have contact an attorney for further assistance. *tr

Driver's seat has collapsed twice. no reason for failure. dealer repaired the first defective seat under warranty. *tr
In 2013 i had to have my driver seat bracket welded due to it breaking. my airbag lights flash continuously since about 2006 and i was told that it would be a few thousand dollars to replace the sensor, also my check engine light comes on and then goes off. when i took it in they said it could be several things from catalytic converter to an exhaust issue and that it would be trial and error to figure out which would remy the problem. not to mention my driver side visor wont stay up and my alternator keeps draining my battery so i have to replace yearly. someone please help. *tr
The driver side seat has come off the track on my 2005 nissan murano. upon further examination, the seat now lifts on the rear left side which is unsafe and unstable when driving. i have read forums on the internet and i see that this has happened to many nissan murano owners causing me to report this complaint. *tr
