Driver seat mount is broken. this happened today while driving and was quite scary. i am the primary driver of my '05 murano so the seat is rarely adjusted. *tr

When leaving an intersection, the rear seat bracket snapped, leaving the seat sagging and flopping with the movement of the vehicle. took vehicle to local dealership. service advisor seemed to minimize the seriousness of the damage. claim he was not aware of similar incidences. a simple internet search revealed a pattern of this issue with this specific vehicle. nissan has agreed to pay a portion of the repair, but claims the damage is outside warranty. car seats should not break under normal use, and nissan needs to formalize a recall. this is another complaint related to nhtsa action # pe05050. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 nissan murano. the contact stated that the driver's seat and rear driver's side frame, located on the corner of the seat, separated. while driving various speeds, the seat would rock back and forth. the bolts were still intact, but the actual seat was separated from the frame. he was concerned about his safety in the event of a potential crash. the dealer did not believe it was a serious issue and could not assist with the repairs. the repair costs were estimated at $1,200. currently, there is an open investigation. the vehicle has not been repaired. the vin was unknown. the current and failure mileages were less than 84,000.

Drivers seat bracket broke. seat now rocks/ tilts towards door. *tr

The driver seat broke off it,s base. while turning right, i could actually feel my body lift. nissan denied my claim for repair because the car was 3years old. i took the car to the closest shop to have it repaired for safety reasons. the base was ordered from continental nissan and replaced at a cost of $972. i filed a claim with nissan corporation. it was denied on aug 28th primarily because i took the car to an independent repair shop. there was no way that i could have driven an unsafe car for 4months until that decision was made. *tr

The drivers seat in my 2005 nissan murano suddenly collapsed as the frame broke. fortunately, the car was not moving at the time so there was not an accident. i am not a large person and only weigh about 195 pounds. from what i gather this is a very common problem on the murano and an important safety problem due to a poorly designed frame. besides the fact that this is an $800 to $1100 repair bill, there should be a recall to fix this problem before someone gets killed. so far nissan has been unwilling to recall this problem. i would suggest that the nhtsa call for a mandatory recall as soon as possible. *tr

Drivers seat connection rail fails under normal driving conditions causing unstable driving conditions. this happened suddenly a few months ago while i was steering through a turn. the seat rail snapped, and the seat became detached on one side causing my weight to shift unexpectedly. this almost caused an accident. i brought the car to the dealer and they wanted $1,100 to repair it. $700 for 12" long seat rail. i ended up having another auto service weld the broken rail back together for half the cost, but as of today it has broken again. i'm 6' tall 200 lbs and the vehicle is driven mostly in city driving conditions. there is no reason for a seat rail to break under these conditions. *tr

1. my wife noticed while she was driving her nissan murano (2005) today, that the seat started to feel loose and lean back to the left. she got out of the vehicle and pushed on the seat and noted a significant drop on putting pressure down on the back drivers side of the seat. this is the first time that the seat has been unstable. upon inspection of the seat tonight the bar connecting the seat to the underlying structure had broken. this occurred on the driver's side on the back bar. the metal had worn and there were sharp edges on both sides. there had been no previous damage or abnormality with the seat prior to today (4-23-2009). *tr

Driving on 4/20/2009 on the long island expressway. without warning, the left side of the driver seat broke or detached off its left rail. *tr

I currently own a 2005 nissan murano with approx. 60k miles. to my surprise while driving the car, the seat began to rock back and forth for no apparent reason. after taking the car into our local nissan dealer, i was informed that the welds on the drivers seat had broken at the base and this was a common problem. unfortunately, this repair would cost around $1,000 to remedy. after researching this problem online, i have found that this is indeed a very common issue with nissan murano's, but nissan corp. has not issued a safety recall. this is a very serious safety defect. some owners have stated that they were driving when this defect occurred and it caused the driver to veer into oncoming traffic due to the surprise of the seat falling towards the drivers door. after speaking with nissan consumer affairs, i was informed that there was not a recall issued and that i would be responsible for the correction of this safety defect. some owners have paid to have this issue corrected, only to have it occur yet again. *tr

The driver's seat of my 2005 nisssan murano rocks from side to side. it is unstable. i thought it was off track but after looking closely underneath the seat i noticed that the metal bracket that braces the seat was completely broken. the seat is not secured to the car. it is unsafe. i purchased the car brand new; i am the original owner. i went to the local nissan dealer and was told the repair would cost $708 for the replacement part (the entire track would have to be replaced because it is one piece), plus $500 for labor. i declined the repair due to the exorbitant cost and called nissan corporate. i told the company that this was a common defect in their cars (as researched on this site) and requested for the company to cover or reimburse the repair. my call was returned and i was told that i was outside of my warranty and "nissan was not in the position" to cover the repair at this time. they do not recognize it as a fault in their craftsmanship. i disagree. a broken metal piece that secures a seat to the deck is not normal wear and tear and should be a part that lasts for the lifetime of the car. *tr

I have a 2005 nissan murano with 70,000 miles. the seat frame has broken, and costs about $1000 to repair. i have researched the internet and have found hundreds of other people with the same problem. this is a safety problem as the seat is so loose that in a wreck you could become a projectile. nissan needs to admit that this is a defect and fix these seats. *tr

2005 nissan murano left rear anchor of drivers seat failed causing seat to move about while driving. this is a major safety issue with this vehicle and the manufacturer has only issued a service bulletin and does not cover this under the vehicle warranty. the charge to repair this seat is close to $1000. i am worried that in an accident that the seat failure could cause major injury to a driver of my vehicle. *tr

Bought it used. drivers seat had problems from the beginning had it in to have them fix it then it started acting out again. would run the motor and move the seat when you powered off. i asked them 60 days ago to look at it again they said i needed a new 2300.00 seat. tonight it just broke with left side falling back. so after reading up i see i am not alone evidently it has welds that break. so they had to of known there was problems then to try and sell me a whole new seat last trip in. i'm furious, because i have to take my husband up for radiation treatments 'this 'week and won't be able to use the car. recall the problem nissan do the right thing. i love my murano but don't disappoint off your customers like this. it's un-american. *jb

Left rear drivers seat of my 2005 nissan murano se awd broke. heard a load "snap," then the seat dropped to the left rear. the seat now rocks and cannot be properly positioned. the car has 55,000 miles on it, is in terrific condition, and i literally bought out my lease 48 hours ago! i understand that nissan will not make these repairs since the warranty has expired. i am also learning that this is a repeated problem plaguing 2005 and 2006 muranos. this is a safety issue and a design flaw that should be covered under recall. *tr

the air bag indicator light is flashing in the dash again. i had this problem fixed once before while still under warranty at the north little rock dealership. on leaving the garage within just a mile, i made a left turn and heard a crunching noise in the steering column and it came back on. i went strait back and they said they would fix it but the (second replacement part) wouldn't be in till the next day so i was given a loaner for one day. now it's back on again. also noted shortly after the warranty expired that the lumbar support on the drivers side no longer inflates/deflates and hasn't worked since. i have had all recalls fixed and had to replace the battery at 37,000 miles at my cost. also had to have the dealership resurface both front rotors and replace a rear caliper under warranty that had locked up 1 & 1/2 years ago. i see that the front rotors are in need of resurfacing again even though the break pads have 1/2 of there wear left to go. due to the highly chromed /curved dipstick, getting an accurate oil level reading is not possible at any time, so the dipstick has only been removed three time since purchasing it as it is a pointless endeavor. i own six autos that range in age from 1972 threw this 2005 murano and of all of them, the murano is the least trusted one. i will never own another nissan. *tr

Front driver seat has broken off of track, and moves/rocks during driving causing safety issue. 1000 to repair., nissan will not fix defect, and charged me additionally just to look at it( couldn't afford the fix at $1000). attached website indicate 149 complaints on the exact same thing to date. need help to get this very dangerous defect resolved. number of complaints can be found at www.mycarstats.com. need help. *tr

The driver's side seat frame broke while adjusting the seat causing the seat to permanently lean to the left noticeably. the problem occurred after the warranty period and the dealer quoted a $1000 repair cost which i felt should have been covered under a recall. since then i have learned that it is a problem for thousands of owners with 2003 to 2006 models. nissan just never owned up to it being a defect. the seat cannot be adjusted properly and it is a major inconvenience when driving. *tr

Support bar under drivers seat broke. the seat now rocks back and forth, it is not sturdy. this happened by simply getting into the car one day, there was no warning the seat was simply unstable. when driving the car now the seat tips up when going around a corner, it feels like it will completely detach. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 nissan murano. the contact stated that the driver's side seat failed and would no longer remain balanced. when he made right turns in the vehicle, the seat would lean to the left and vice versa. he also stated that the back left corner would drop to the left and give out upon sitting. the dealer stated that they could not assist with the repair because the warranty was exceeded by 2,000 miles. the contact weighs 180 pounds and stated that something in the seat structure was flawed. the dealer stated that the repairs would cost over $1,200. the vin was unavailable. the failure and current mileages were less than 38,000.

I sat down in the drivers seat of my 2005 nissan murano and the left rear side of the frame sheared off. the seat is now totally unstable and unsafe. *tr

Sitting in my 2005 nissan murano drivers seat. left side of seat collapsed / broke while driving. *tr

Driver's car seat broke on 2005 nissan murano. $1000.00 repair. *tr

I've been having a problem with the power driver's seat in my '05 nissan murano. it is loose and shifts side to side when i turn corners. i contacted my dealer and they said that the lifter link slide assembly was broken and would need to be replaced at the tune of $600. there is a tsb (technical service bulletin) out on this exact problem. since my vehicle is out of warranty, nissan north america has refused to fix it and therefore, own up to this safety issue. i would hate to see what would happen during a crash. please recall this issue before anyone loose their lives. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 nissan murano. the contact stated that the seat bracket that holds the seat to the floor failed. when he entered the vehicle, he noticed that the seat was on the floor. the dealer stated that the failure was not caused by a defect, and would cost $800 to repair. the contact found numerous complaints online for this same failure. the failure mileage was 70,585 and current mileage was 74,953. updated 09/18/09. *lj updated 09/18/09. *jb

The drivers seat leans completely to left. *tr

I drive a 2005 nissan murano. one day i was making a 90 degree right turn when i felt the driver seat snap. afterward i could left up the seat with my hand where it should have been secured to the floor. the seat now leans to the right whenever i make a right turn. after reading about this on some message boards i've heard this is a very common problem for the nissan murano. this is a huge safety issue that is expensive to fix, around 1000 dollars. *tr

Nissan murano drivers seat. the brace bar that runs across the back underneath the seat from the left back corner to the back right corner becomes unwelded. the seat then begins to rock and is no longer stable nor safe should the car be in an accident as the seat belt will not hold a person in the seat as it is designed to do so. *tr

The following is what i wrote to nissan regarding my broken driver's seat chair (left side) in my 2005 nissan murano: i am a science teacher, and as i drove home from school on friday feb 27th, 2009. i heard a snap, and suddenly felt a drop in the driver seat in my 2005 murano. given the drastic drop, i had no option but to swerve into the next lane, nearing collision with another vehicle. i was panicked but managed to negotiate to the exit of the freeway. i put myself, my passenger who carpools, and others on the road in serious danger. i am sure you would agree this is a manufacturers issue and extremely unsafe (http://www.safercar.gov/). this morning i made an appointment with cerritos nissan, where i purchased my vehicle and spoke to tod and ed, the service managers, in person. they informed me that they had never seen or heard of this issue, and that is extremely rare and uncommon. yet, after doing some research on your website and other valid sources, i found frequent complaints that identified the exact same problem. ed has advised me to contact you for assistance and that he is willing to honor replacement of the defective parts at no cost to me should the nissan corporation handle this problem. my family has purchased over 8 nissan vehicles over the last 10-15 years, and this problem has never happened before. my car is no longer drivable given the circumstance and now my carpool member and i are relegated to public transportation, or rent a vehicle. the extra cost on our teacher's salary is not acceptable. we work very far and start at 5:30 in the morning. in addition, we sometimes must leave work late. obviously, this is extremely disturbing. please contact me as soon as possible at home or my cell. your expedited attention to this matter is appreciated. thank you. *tr

I was driving down the road when the left side of my seat tilted suddenly, throwing me off balance and causing my back to twist. i stopped immediately, and found that the seat was unstable. i took it to my local mechanic, who showed me where the weld had failed on the left side of the seat. as advised, i called my nissan dealer, who indicated that quote "this has happened frequently, and we have received a replacement part for the repair, which we keep in stock." they indicated the cost was $660 plus the cost of installation, as my car is 3000 miles over the general warranty limit. although i was not injured, this seat is now unsafe, as it is only partially anchored to the floor. additional stress is on the remaining weld, and it can fail at any time. additionally, any impact can cause the seat to become unanchored. i am contacting nissan corporate tomorrow, but feel that this is truly a safety defect that should be the subject of a recall repair. please advise. thanks. *tr

While driving my car on the highway, the anchor for my seat on the left side just broke. the seat dropped on the left side and i was left with no support on the left side of my seat. the seat floated up and down as i drove over rough roads. unfortunately it was late at night and i had no recourse but to continue to drive in this most unstable condition. *tr

There were no accidents or incidents. it just snapped .drivers front seat frame is broken on left side. we were told there is nothing that can be done except replace the part which costs over $700.00 for parts plus labor. after checking the nissan usa blog, it seems this is not uncommon and is a safety issue. nothing has been done to fix this problem by the dealership. *tr

While driving down a city street, my driver's seat on my '05 nissan murano dropped. it is now loose, shifts side to side and i fear it is a safety hazard. i found a discussion group about this exact situation online. apparently nissan knows about the weakness in the seat design and the safety issue, but will not accept responsibility. i do not have the $1020 quoted to repair the seat. *tr

Drivers seat is loose due to broken seat track. *tr

The driver's seat frame bracket that keeps the seat in its proper place and orientation to the steering wheel broke. this resulted in the seat suddenly falling toward the drivers side door. it is almost impossible to drive the vehicle in this condition and it is impossible to drive the vehicle in a safe manner in this condition. *tr

2005 nissan murano driver seat. seat broke while driving and is leaning to the left. this should be considered a serious safety issue, as i was caught off guarded and almost serve off the road. *tr

Driving on highway, heard a loud pop and my seat tilted back. the left rear bracket broke. *tr

Front power seat of my 2005 murano, sl with 47,000 miles. seat broke and nissan will not cover the expense to repair. this is unsafe. *tr

My nissan murano car seat is broken also. the clamp that secures the drivers seat to the track is in two pieces. my local dealership has quoted me $1100 to repair. *tr

Rear bracket broke on driver's side power seat while driving. seat now leans to the extreme left and rearward. seat is extremely loose. moves at the slightest turn, acceleration and deceleration of the vehicle. afraid to drive. *tr

While driving at approximately 50 mph, while reaching for the radio, i heard a cracking noise under my seat. something broke loose and me and the seat were thrust violently towards the right! luckily, i did not lose control of the vehicle, but it would have been very easy to as the seat breaking was an unexpected shock. the seat now rocks side to side and has become unstable. this is the 2nd time this has happened. dealer repaired it the first time and the service tech was aware this problem existed on this model! in a collision, the seat will most definitely break free and launch the driver (and seat) either into the dashboard or towards the rear of the vehicle. this is an extremely dangerous defect and will inevitably cause fatalities. *tr

Our 2005 nissan murano with just over 44k miles has a broken driver's seat frame. we have not had any accidents and consider our use to have been normal. i am 200 lbs and my wife is significantly less and she is the main driver of the vehicle. the seat actually broke while my wife was getting in, not while driving. it appears to be the where the back left support connects. the seat still has normal electronic functions but now, the seat is not steady while driving. on right turns, the seat move up and to the right. it then settles back into position when the car returns to straight. the seat will require maintenance as i don't consider it to be safe. it seems part failure on a part that should be extremely durable. *tr

A 2005 nissan murano and the support linkage for the power seat has broke . it lists to the left. as far as i can tell, it is a break in the connection of the back support. power features work fine. sounds like nissan has a design problem. *tr

Approximately 15 months ago, our drivers side seat broke underneath the seat causing the seat to lean to the left against the drivers side door. i took the seat out to see what had happened and found the metal frame support bar underneath the seat had snapped. we called the dealer and they told us to bring it in and it could cost upwards of $500 initially. i decided to fix the seat myself and re-weld the metal. i contacted nissan to see if they would do anything feeling that this is a huge safety concern being that the seat is part of the restraint system and they told me to take it to the dealer which i did, then, to have the dealer contact them. the dealer charged me $107 to take the seat out look at it, print off some papers and put it back in the car. nissan then contacted me and denied any accountability for the defect, told me i was over warranty and furthermore that i voided the warranty when i fixed my own seat. i am outraged that there has not been a recall on such an important part of the car! as i check with parts people or even do research online about this problem it's clearly evident that this is a major problem with this car and everyone knows it. i have fixed this seat 3 times over the past 15 months and i am fed up with it. nissan wants $1000 to fix this. i think that sucks and they should be standing by their product and fixing it like a real reputable company would. the website i read several stories on was carcomplaints.com. can you help? *tr

Drivers side power seat broken. *tr

2005 nissan murano drivers seat has come loose off of the base, rocks more than 40 degrees off of base. normal usage, normal weight person (180lbs, 6"4).*tr

My 2005 nissan murano has a defective drivers seat, which broke during a normal drive. the tilting force from the break caused me a strain in my lower back, and lose control of the vehicle. i ran off the road, causing my tires to be severely damaged, needing to be replaced due to cuts and tears in the side wall, and i believe i need a 4 wheel alignment due to the accident. after the accident, i searched the internet and found that this defective seat has been an issue with other owners, and found this article which describes my experience well http://www.nissanmurano.org/forums/showthread.php?threadid=1548 borrowing from this other owner's issue, i quote "the parts that are defective are: 87458-ar00a - seat lifter link and 874540ca61a - seat motor assembly the two numbers listed above are what is specified in the seat repair tsb, but apparently there is an updated part number now for both pieces. nissan has combined the part into one part number now. notice the "b" in the part number - most online catalog numbers are ca68a. the new one is ca68b. apparently the part has been updated again because the old one was still breaking." since this seat now moves back and forth, it is a safety issue that i need to address now. i will pay about $1000 in parts and labor, on top of replacing my tires for $787.96. i will keep the old parts after the seat is repaired for proof. *tr

I noticed that the drivers seat began making a clicking noise, shortly after that the seat began to rock, it did not feel like it was secured to the car. i brought the car to the dealer and he told me that it was a broken bracket and i would have to buy an entire assembly to fix it for $911.00 the dealer also told me that my warranty was up but would try to see if they would cover it under "goodwill" and that did not work either, i was told to contact nissan north america directly and after a lot of dialog nissan agreed to give me $200.00 towards the repair. i went to a different dealer for a quote and they agreed to do the job for a total of $400,00 meaning it would cost me $200.00 out of pocket to fix. i had this dealer fix the car. nissan north america did not agree with me when i told them that this was a design flaw. there are numerous complaints on the net regarding this problem. i feel that there should be a recall on this because the seat can become totally disengaged from the floor if an impact should occur, this could cause the driver and or other passengers to become injured. additionally, the seat also contains a side impact airbag and seat belts could become useless should the seat dislodge from the floor. i believe that i should be reimbursed for all the money i spent to get this problem diagnosed and repaired as this problem encompasses murano's made from 2003 thru 2007. *tr
