Seat frame assembly on drivers side broke causing the drivers seat to lean to the left. very unstable and it happen while driving. the dealer welded the part, saying not sure it will hold. the same problem happened again april 20 and once again the dealer welded the part saying the metal is very thin. a new part installed is approx. $700. the part is a improved part that is stronger now. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2005 nissan murano. the driver side seat was broken and unstable. the vehicle was taken to a repair shop where the dealer inspected and contacted the manufacturer to inquire how to repair the seats and if the repairs would be covered. the manufacturer stated that they would only pay a percentage and the contact would be paying the difference. the vin was unavailable at the time of the complaint. the failure and current mileages were approximately 52,000.
Drivers side seat frame broken, dealer refused repair while under extended warranty. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 nissan murano. while driving at approximately 5 mph around a curve, the drivers seat wobbled abnormally. the vehicle was taken to an independent repair shop where the contact was informed that the seat frame had fractured. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was unknown and the current mileage was 52,710.
Front driver seat broken. *tr
2005 murano seat rail snapped / failed. seat detached from seat mount on left side drivers side. seat is now loose and unstable / not factory secured to mounting rail system. this is a severe hazard as proper operations of restraint and airbag systems cannot be guaranteed with the seat not properly attached to frame. *tr
2005 nissan murano.no previous issues with the seat. i have approx 95k miles. beginning on friday april 16th 2010. drivers side seat began to wobble (side to side) as i was coming to a stop. i was concerned for my safety as i thought that the entire seat had come off the track. i had to pull over and tried to see what had happened. i was not able to see anything due to the plastic covers etc on the sides of the seat. however, i did notice that i could completely lift the seat left to right. i very cautiously drove home. upon further inspection, we found that a metal part under the seat is completely broken in half. the seat is still on the track and all of the power functions are still operational. however, my seat now wobbles every time i slow down, make turns or come to a stop. this is not a wear and tear item. after online research, i have found a significant number of reports and complaints with the exact same issue. this seems to be more of a safety hazard. i have contacted my local nissan dealership and have been told that it is not a covered item under my extended warranty and that they are familiar with this issue and it will cost approx. $1000 part and labor to repair!! how many more complaints before nissan voluntarily recalls this item or do actual deaths have to occur before something changes? *tr
As i was driving down the freeway, i felt a snap from under the seat and slightly pulled me down, which caused my foot to release the gas pedal. i was able to maintain control because i am a skilled and experienced driver. i researched the internet and found this website and apparently there is a lot of issues with the driver seat of a 2005 nissan murano similar to mine. nissan needs to prevent a major accident unlike toyota that was not able to on such an insignificant defect. a lot of lives are at risk and they do not need to wait until something tragic happens to act on the issue. *tr
The drivers front seat broke on my wife's 2005 nissan murano while she was driving at 55 mph. the seat started rocking back and forth. she was able to make it home as she was only 3 miles away. the car has 32,600 miles. *tr
The drivers seat frame is made with plastic parts and it breaks in half. drivers seat then becomes loose and completely unstable. this is the first time i have had to replace the frame. the part is $750 without install. according to the blog posts this is a know problem with the nissan muranos 2003-2006. wish i would have looked that up before buying the car! *tr
While driving my 2005 nissan murano on sunday, april 11,201 , i heard something crack and my driver seat collapsed on the left rear. it appears that theseat frame broke. i have approximately 30,000 miles on my vehicle and i feel that this is a serious concern, as i had the presence of mind to pull over as soon as it happened. from an internet investigation, it appears that this is a recurring issue and should be addressed before some dies as a result of an apparent design flaw. *tr
Totally unexpectedly, the driver's seat tilted backwards all of a sudden, almost causing an accident as i lost control for a while. i took the car to the garage after wedging the seat stationary with blocks of wood. the mechanic said the weld on the seat bracket broke and that it was my responsibility to fix at a cost of $1100. despite repeated attempts to get nissan to repair what was clearly a faulty design that caused metal fatigue, the seat still has not been repaired. i went on the internet to see if anyone else has had this problem and found in a short time about 200 instances of this bracket breaking in this same spot. this car has only about 38,000 miles and has only been driven by myself. *tr
2005 murano sl with 48900 miles. failed driver's seat as noted in 207 other complaints on this site. upon getting into the vehicle, the left back portion of the driver's seat suddenly popped and tilted to the left. there is a severe rocking motion of the seat now and turning right causes the driver to have to hold on to the steering wheel with force in order to remain upright and drive appropriately. currently at the nissan dealership having the problem diagnosed. haven't yet gotten word on the "cost" of this repair but feel strongly that this should be taken care of by nissan as this is a structural failure that should not occur. having no injuries reported does not mean this couldn't happen soon. if you are driving and making a turn at the time of the failure you most definitely could lose control of your vehicle.
On march 27, 2010, i was stopping at a light and the driver's front seat, in my 2005 nissan murano, broke. i had the extended warranty; however, my seat was not covered. i took it to the nissan dealership immediately and it cost me $461.23 to have my seat fixed. the dealership stated that my rear cushion support bracket was broken, they stated that this was a common problem with the 2005 muranos, and that i would have to either get it fixed there (at the dealership) or i would have to have the car towed to another facility to have it repaired. this is not normal - wear and tear 'a broken seat from stopping at a light. the dealership stated that there were no recalls, but would put in a complaint on my behalf. *tr
I purchased my 2005 nissan murano in march of 2009. in march of 2010 my drivers side seat broke. looking under the seat the one of the metal support bars has come unwelded from the track causing the seat to lean to the left against the door. i have had a nissan vehicle since 1995 and have never had any major issues. *tr
2005 nissan murano seat broken mount. metal mount to seat base has sheared off under normal use causing unsafe driving condition. seat moves voluntarily. as this appears to be a manufacturing defect through inspection of part , a $1000 replacement is unacceptable. *tr
2005 nissan murano. driver seat anchor/bracket on back left broke. this causes the seat to rock significantly while driving, especially during turns. main safety concern is the that the issue causes the seat belt to fit incorrectly. it is either becoming too loose or too tight depending on the direction of the seat rocking, the dealer was contacted and was told it is a known issue and the cost to fix is $1,000.00. the issue has not been fixed yet but will in the next month. *tr
There is structural failure of the anchor bracket on the left rear side of driver's seat. the anchor bracket broke apart. it was noticed by seat rocking back and forth in a side to front motion. we are in the process of getting estimates to fix defect. *tr
Tl* contact owns a 2005 nissan murano. the contact stated he is having the same problem with his seat anchor and bracket as the other complaints that we have received on our website. the contact is concerned about the safety risk and feels his seat should be repaired. the contact stated a couple weeks ago he heard a metal sound but didn't know what the problem was. the failure and current mileages was 80,000. updated 4/20/10 the consumer stated the driver's seat would tilt from the left to the right. the consumer looked under the seat and noticed at the left frame of the corner, the anchor that held the seat to the frame was broken. updated 09/14/10
1.the events leading up to the failure: sitting in my seat. 2. the failure, how often it occurs, its consequences: seat frame broke. now seat leans, and rocks on turns. it's very loose. 3.what was done to correct the failure: nothing. i've opened a case with nissan but they said it wasn't covered in a recall and i'm out of warranty. i've researched this on the web and it appears that this is a very common problem. *tr
I own a 2005 nissan murano. while driving, i heard a snapping sound and then the left side of my driver's seat began to lean towards the driver's door. the seat was very loose and each time i went around a curve or came to a stop the seat would shift dramatically. i took it to the dealer who said that this is a common problem with the murano. they have even published a service bulletin to their maintenance and repair departments on this matter. however, the part is not covered under any of the vehicle warranties and they wanted approx. $1200.00 in parts and labor to replace the broken part, which turns out to be a weld in the driver's seat frame. i opted to take my vehicle to another repair shop, where they welded my existing seat frame back together for a cost of $100.00. i feel that if nissan is aware that they have a problem that occurs often enough for them to alert their service dept. of the matter that they should issue a recall on their defective parts. *tr
I've been having a problem with the power driver's seat in my 2005 nissan murano, the driver's side power seat just started to tilt to one side, and also forward. it is loose and will tilt forward/backward when i decelerate/accelerates. according to my mechanic, it's sort of structural failure with the anchor of the left rear side of the power driver seat. *tr
Drivers car seat rattles from side to side causing difficulty when driving - serious safety hazard. nissan murano- 2006. *tr
Driver's side seat broke while driver was operating vehicle. there was no trauma to the vehicle, it has never been in an accident. one moment it was fine, the next i heard a pop and then a cracking sound. the back of the seat listed heavily on the left side, the bottom was no longer secured. it made steering the car very difficult and very dangerous. *tr
I own a 2005 nissan murano, the drivers seat support bar broke underneath the seat.this is the tube that supports the seat in the front. it is a not a heavy enough material. this is causing the seat to be lop sided and loose. it also rocks side to side which i feel is a safety hazard. if the car was in an accident the seat would completely break off the mounts and cause severe injury to the driver this is a common problem with a large majority of nissan muranos. please go to nissan murano.org and you will see the amount of people with the same issue. please look into this as a recall before some innocent person gets killed by nissan for using a material that is not durable enough. i am a mechanical engineer by trade and reviewed the stress calculations for the type of material used and it is not suitable for the purpose. please do something before it turns into a bad situation for someone. *cn information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6)
My 2005 nissan murano sl awd broke the driver's seat support bracket while driving on a clear, dry paved road in january 2010. the driver's seat rocked forward and backward slightly after i heard a snap. the next day i checked out the driver's seat while no one was sitting in it and noticed that the seat now rocks significantly forward and back and a metal bracket under the seat had broken. i called my local nissan dealership who got me in the next business day. the dealership quoted me $450 to make the repair saying they had to replace one of the two driver's seat lift assemblies and they had the part in stock. my murano has 78k miles on it and is beyond the extended warranty that we had purchased. i bought my murano from this dealership at 50k miles and have brought it back to them for every kind of service at the proper service intervals. because we had followed all the dealership's recommendations in the past for repairs and had done all the needed services, and this seat issue was not something that i could have prevented or otherwise been held accountable for causing (i am an average weight woman), i called nissan's customer service line and spoke to a customer service rep. after explaining this safety issue and the fact that this seat is tied into the air-bag system and asking for some goodwill on this safety defect, i was denied. i asked for just a parts goodwill and was still denied. after reviewing my service statement from the dealership, the service technician noted that he replaced the driver's side front seat lift assembly "per bulletin." i looked online and found that nissan has a technical service bulletin (reference number ntb05-043c) that was issued march 29, 2007 about this very issue. further online investigation noted that many people have apparently had this same issue, but at much lower mileage. i am furious that nissan has a known safety issue and refused to cover it.
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 nissan murano. when she took the vehicle to the dealer for routine maintenance the dealer noticed that the drivers seat bracket was broken and that it was previously welded. the estimated cost to repair the seat bracket was $600.00. the failure and the current mileage was 40,000.
Driving at a speed of approximately 15 mph and beginning to enter a right hand turn when the driver's seat gave way and slumped to the rear and shifted to the left. i immediately pulled over to investigate what had just happened. the back left mounting bracket of the driver's seat broke in half and now the seat rocks and shifts to the back left. i took the vehicle to the nissan dealership only to be told that they see this problem alot. to repair the seat will cost just over $1,000. nissan recognizes that the bracket breaks and is defective. however, nissan has not issued a recall to resolve this safety issue. the seat has enough rock and play in it that in the event of a crash, the broken seat can act as a catalyst to eject the driver from the driver's seat. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2005 nissan murano. while driving approximately 15 mph on normal road conditions, unexpectedly, the front driver side seat bracket broke. the driver seat collapsed on the left side. the unsecured seat began to exhibit a rocking movement. the driver was able to pull over to a nearby parking lot; however, the contact was able to resume driving with extreme caution. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for inspection. the failure was contributed to the driver seat bracket assembly. the part was ordered with an estimated repair cost of $1,000. the contact had concern of the safety risk involved. the failure mileage was 54,300. the vin was unavailable.
Currently own a 2005 nissan murano and noticed last night that the drivers seat shifted to the left. this morning while driving the car to work, the left side of the drivers seat snapped and the seat leaned down to the left. i have read a number of complaints on edmunds.com, this is an extremely common safety issue and nissan has not addressed this as a design problem. is there a recall for this issue being addressed?? *tr
On jan, 2010 the driver's side seat had failed on my 2005 nissan murano. the driver's seat frame had broken causing the seat to rock from side to side and front to back. the seat has a factory defect causing the frame to fail. there are hundreds of complaints for the 2004, 2005 2006 and 2007 nissan murano with the same failure. this is terribly dangerous and will cause loss of control and life threatening. *tr
My driver's seat broke in my 2005 murano (68,000 miles) in the same manner as a number of others drivers have indicated already. the driver seat broke while driving causing me to loose control for a time....very dangerous situation! the driver seat weld came loose on the left side and now rocks back and forth while driving and going around corners. took it to the dealer and they indicated it was a $1000 plus fix! have to replace the entire seat assembly. dealer and even the extended warranty i purchased will not cover this obvious defect and safety issue. will be calling nissan next...but from the looks of other complaints, it will be a waste of time since i haven't heard of nissan helping fix anyone with this issue. i'm afraid that until i get this fixed that the rocking motion will break the last support and cause the entire seat to break loose while driving. know if this is not a safety issue....please tell me what is!!!! *tr
Driver seat on my nissan murano 2005 got disconnected from the floor when making left turn. i was lift up with the seat to the air and as result lost control for about 10 sec. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 nissan murano. the contact stated that the driver seat bracket broke when the vehicle was parked; as a result, the driver seat was capable of moving back and forth intermittently. the dealer would offer any assistance when the contact called. the vehicle had not been repaired. the current mileage was approximately 61,000. the failure mileage was approximately 58,000.
The frame on my seat of my 2005 nissan murano broke. i contacted nissan and my closest dealer. the dealer inspected it, told me that their was a bulletin on the frame repair. they suggested to nissan that they replace it. i also was in contact with nissan and have a file regarding this problem. after 15 days they denied repairing the faulty seat frame. i do not feel this is safe. i also do not feel it is my responsibility as it is a defect and do not currently have the money to cover the repair. you asked for an approximate incident date, this seat has been making noise for approximately 6 months. it's a very hard problem to diagnose because the weight of the seat settles down onto the broken frame. the time that i reported it was 15 days ago. nissan has a detailed file on all of this information and has refused help. *tr

I have nissan murano s 2005 , 60000 miles. lately, during normal driving the drivers seat broke down and i heard popping noise from underneath my seat. right after that it started rock sideways. i don't think my weight is an issue here(160 lbs) because i started searching the internet and many people have the same problem. i contacted the nissan dealer but they told me it's not recalled and my warranty won't cover it. i'm pretty upset with that information because it looks like it's nissan responsibility to take care of that and it's a safety issue. *tr
Driver seat bracket broke unsafe in the event of accident or quick braking. why would a seat break shouldn't last as long as the car? dealers won't fix as a warranty issue. *tr
Driver's seat bracket is broken on 2005 nissan murano. no abnormal use. *tr
Front seat broken on driver's side. the front seat driver frame has broken in 2 places making the seat a safety hazard. my wife and i are the only drivers of our 2005 murano se. it has 6 way electric seats. now we have to lower the seat to the floor in order to stabilize the seat. otherwise the seat assembly & frame will end up breaking completely off at the frame. my local mechanic says he's never seen a seat frame break at 2 places like ours. i have not contacted nissan as of yet to see if this is under warranty or not but you would think the seat assembly would last for the lifetime of the vehicle. i weigh 230 pounds and my wife weighs approx. 185 no one has ever driven our vehicle but us other than garage repairmen. i found a web site that has a detailed drawing of the seat and mechanism that is broken. the web site is www.nissanpartswarehouse.com then go to "seats and tracks" then "tracks and components" then "connector rod adjuster" click on "view illustration" and it is part #1 in the drawing. this part bolts directly onto the vehicle frame chassis. the part is broken at 2 places on the front connection. the breaks are where the rod connects to the right and left sides of this part. i can send you a diagram if you will send me an e-mail where i can attach this diagram. here's the complete web site address below. http://www.nissanpartswarehouse.com/partlocator/index.cfm?action=getjointlocator&siteid=214315&chapter=§ionids=0,51873&groupid=51876&subgroupid=3241&componentid=2666&make=25&model=murano&year=2005&catalogid=2&displaycatalogid=0 i've been to a few other web sites and noticed other people who have murano's that have also experienced broken driver seat assemblies. thank you for your time. *tr
After buying a used 2005 nissan murano from a ct dealership, 8 months later my driver seat guide went completely bust while driving on the highway. i started feeling more and more loose as i drove and once i got off the highway i was completely thrown from left to right at every slight curve as my seat was completely detached on one side. even once i made my way to the dealership the part was not ready available, so i have been driving the car in those conditions fearful that the seat my completely come off and i won't be able to see the road ahead of me. not to mention that the repair is over $ 1,200, and the manufacturer refers to the guide failure to hold the seat a "wear and tear" issue. i found many other complaints like mine all over the internet from other 4 to 5 years old murano owners. even the service people at the dealership have voiced their opinion about the problem indicating than nissan should issue a recall for this manufacturing defect. what's next? the steering wheels coming off the dashboard becoming a wear and tear issue as well because the manufacturer decides to cut some corners? i should not have sat on the seat? the truth is that there was no event leading to the failure of the part. not a bump, not a puddle, not an accident, not an abrupt stop, not a fast turn. and by the way, i weigh 185 pounds. how come the rest of the car is practically brand new and this part is completely "worn out'? is it possible that the part may be defective and unreliable? what i know is that without your help i, the consumer, am completely powerless when it comes to holding companies like nissan liable for their mistakes. the nhtsa should correct the problem or companies will do their math very carefully when weighing in profits versus product safety. unless the manufactures are hold responsible and liable for their mistakes they will keep pushing for lower quality products and less reliable parts that will keep failing and endangering people's safety and comfort. *tr
Nissan murano driver's side seat brakes did broke. *tr
The driver's seat made a snap sound and then tilted. when i checked the seat, i found that i can rock it side to side. the bottom of the seat is separated from the seat track. if i raise the seat up using the motor, the tilt becomes more severe. if i lower the seat to the floor, the seat back automatically folds forward, so i am squished in the seat. i am worried that my safety is compromised by having the driver's seat only attached by 1 track & not the 2 tracks as it is intended to be. if i am in an accident, my seat has half the anchoring ability than it was designed to have. the nissan dealer is aware of this complaint but said there has been no recall. i cannot afford the $900 repair, so i am forced to operate my murano with a compromised safety system. due to the 1) amount of similar complaints, 2) failure of a safety-related system, 3) cost of repair (which is causing most claimants to operate the murano in an unsafe manor), and 4) the potential for a lawsuit against nissan if an accident or death occurs, nissan should be forced to issue a recall to correct this potentially dangerous problem.
