Recently reported UNKNOWN OR OTHER problems on 2005 Nissan Murano

2005 murano purchased 6 yrs ago has 67,000 mi on it. have never had a problem previously but has started burning oil. have kept up on regular maintenance but was lax this time. car went 5,000 mi before having a problem with smoke from exhaust and pinging noise. took to mechanic and was told that the oil was 3 1/2 qts low. my mechanic thinks i might need to rebuild the engine or buy new. he will check it in a week to see if it's still burning oil. he changed the oil and wants to monitor it before we make the decision to do additional work. i never had any indication that it was low on oil. my fault for not checking it but would think i would have gotten an indicator light. anyone else burning thru oil like this?

I was driving down the city road and it just felt like the car shut off and no longer got gas almost like an alternator would do i could put it in park and there would still be power you could hear the engine again i would put it back in drive or even tried a low gear no gears was making my car move but it would make sound in parkthe battery light and brake light then came on and my car died shortly after completely already workwhile studying your recalls i noticed the make and model of my car had certain recalls with the alternator of faulty wire in it when i try to report this they told me it was the wrong batch but it's funny my car is doing the same thing do to my car doing this you can no longer move your vehicle so it is dangerous it stops you right in the middle of the road you cannot gas it to go your website mentions a failsafe mode that it may have fell into

I was at a traffic light waiting for it to turn green. when i stepped on the gas, i realized that it had turned off. tried to re-start. flashed dash signs and then nothing not even a click. i was on a very busy street at night in the rain. my hazard button lasted for 5 minutes and then it went out. i thought my car was going to be hit. a man across the street pulled me out of harms way. with the police directing traffic, my son and several people that stopped, helped to push the car to safety. my car was able to be jumped and driven home. i will not drive it until i know what is wrong with it. l am the original owner and it has 98,000 miles on it. it looks like the 2005 has a recall on the alternator, but i never got that done. i still have not had it looked at. looking at the complaint a lot of people have several alternators replaced and the problem is still not fixed. does anyone know why the vehicle would turn off with no warning? .

Takata recall..i drove my 2005 nissan murano and i parked the nissan. 20 minutes later started to back the car and as soon as i put it on dr it went by 2 miles an hour so then i pressed on the gas all the way down and it still went to miles an hour it's still drove but it was going around 5 miles an hour. then i parked the nissan and let it cool off and see what was wrong. i could not find nothing, i called my husband he could not find nothing either, he drove it around the block and it still went 5 miles an hour so then he checked the engine nothing was wrong but it did say abs and then around 20 minutes later the nissan turn on and it went normal and nothing happened until 2 months later. the next time i was at a drive-thru and then all of a sudden the abs turn on and it did not want to go fast it went again five miles an hour. then i turn around the corner and then it went fast but then it went slow again so i park the nissan, and begin to start it and then it wouldn't start the abs went on again, then the battery was dead. i finally got a jump and it turned back on like normal and it went normal until i got to the store and i left the nissan on with the air condition and had my son in the car. my son said that air conditioner keep going on and off on and off the windows were not working try to roll down the windows it wasn't working so then i got in the car and as soon as i put it in dry it didn't want to go it went 5 miles an hour then the abs turned back on and then it went back to normal i was driving i made it all the way home and that is what's going on with a nissan murano.

Sun visor on driver side continuously falls down while driving.

Drivers side seat is loose and started to dip towards the left. the seat is broken. i looked online and can see this is a recurring problem. also the panel where you can push to lock awd or put on the seat warmers has sunk into the panel.

I bought my 05 murano from the dealership for $6000 and i only drove it for 3 months before the alternator and the transmission went. i paid $600 for the alternator to be repaired and 2 weeks later the transmission went. the dealership said that it would cost me $4200 to fix the transmission. they refused to give me any sort of discount. i got 3 months out of a $6000+ dollar car. i am so upset this has caused so many problems in my life in so many ways. i can't believe nissan is morally ok with ripping me off like this.

My intake air duct comes off, causing stalling, bad gas mileage, running bad & throwing maff codes... this problem begin happening around early november 2016 & happens often. i'm trying to avoid a crash, this is heart renching.

On my 2005 nissan murano all doors, including gas door, except drivers door will periodically fail to lock or unlock using the door lock button on drivers door or key fob. the problem appears to be linked to the ambient temperature, most likely to occur on hot days. the sounds you hear are the same just sometimes the lock button just wiggles slightly, rather than moving enough to lock or unlock the doors. this problem occurs at any time, regardless of vehicle movement. i find it odd for all lock actuators too fail at the same time, then start working again at the same time. the dealer wants 1600-2000 dollars to replace all lock actuators.

Rear hatch door does not unlock. i took them car to the selling agency and was charged approximately 500 dollars to repair the lock. it worked for approximately 3 months and the problem arose again. they agency stated that they had to charge me an additional 120 dollars just to check out their problem. i didn't pursue the fix because i thought they inspection fee was unwarranted. they situation remains.

Drivers side sun visor does not stay up or in place when down. falls down while driving and obstructs the view of the road. it also can't be used to block the suns glare because it doesn't stay at the adjusted angle.

When driving my nissan murano especially on hot days/in stop & go traffic, the vehicle fails to respond to the depression of the accelerator. when it happens (~1x/week), the vehicle will be at a complete stop & not begin to accelerate after depressing the accelerator until around 3k rpms. the problem is resolved by cycling the vehicle off then on, given that the driving conditions don't remain in the form which appeared to initiate the incident. in one instance (and only once), the vehicle was left running, with the a/c on while i made a quick run into a convienence store. after backing out of the parking space without a problem, the vehicle exhibited it's slight hesitation while in drive, but then lurched forward at ~3k rpms, and acquired the desired speed and manuevers. after waiting at the light just outside of the parking lot, the vehicle would not respond to the depression of the accelerator in the form of movement. that is, the engine would rev to as much as 5k rpms, but not move more the .5-1mph. the usual cycling of the engine off & then on, would not resolve the problem. the next destination was nearby (1mi.) & downhill, so i was able to coast, in neutral, to that location whilst being honked at & nearly rear-ended by oncoming traffic. after the vehicle had sat at that location for ~3hrs, there were no other problems of the like. it is worth mentioning the hesitation problem was not experienced for the remainder of the day. however, it wasn't too long before the original problem returned. no check engine light, no other mechanical issues i have noticed. no correlations other than that of temperature and/or stop and go traffic. another important note is that those correlations are not dependent upon each other; the problem can/does occur in the absence of either. however, it is typically not seen without at least one of those factors present. *tt

This was the third time the air intake hose fell off while the car was in motion causing the engine to instantly stall leaving the car disabled with no steering control. the first two times were in residential areas, but the third time was on a heavily traveled road at night causing a serious and extremely dangerous situation. the car was almost struck several times while i was removing my toddler from the backseat of the disabled car. each of the three times the car has stalled i brought the car to nissan the next day and they said they previously replaced a different recall part in the air intake system, but the way the car was designed made the other end of the air intake hose likely to fall off due to vibration. they showed me how removing the air filter during routine maintenance can loosen the air intake hose, even when the clamp is tightened. i asked them to fix this problem and they said there was nothing they could do, it was just the way the hose was designed. i cannot imagine what could have happened if i had taken the highway home and the car had stalled at higher speeds. the suggested fix from nissan was to tighten the hose clamps each time the car is used, but it has happened three times now supposedly after the clamps were tightened by nissan service mechanics. this seems to be a serious defect and i am grateful that nobody hit us while the car was stalled. after three times, i am too scared to ever drive the car again.

Failure of door locking mechanism was first noticed when fuel filler door would not open; remote key recycled several times and fuel-filler door opened. next time, several months later, the right passenger door would not open by passenger. again, remote key recycled several times and door opened. yesterday, when trying to unlock the trunk lid the door-lock/unlock mechanism failed and trunk lid and right front passenger door were both impossible to open. after many attempts using both the remote keypad and using the manual key method the doors were finally unlocked. to test the system , the doors were locked using the manual key and both the trunk lid and the right front passenger doors remained unlocked. the system is unreliable for security purposes and potentially life-threatening in case the passengers needed to egress the vehicle quickly in case of being stalled on railroad tracks, fire or in a water submersion situation.

On 08/10/2010 we paid our local nissan dealer $470.93 to repair the driver side door lock. before the repair the driver's door we could not open with the key fob or with the interior manual lock. we had to use the door key. now all the other doors are acting the same way. they do not unlock or lock with the key fob or interior manual lock. note: there is only one key hole on the exterior of the car. this is a huge safety issue. numerous times we have had children in the back seat that we can't get out of the car without having to climb over and manually switching the door from locked to unlocked. also, when we think the door is locked it sometimes isn't, which is another safety issue. nissan wants us to pay to have each door fixed. i have never had a car that i couldn't get in or couldn't get out of. i believe this is a huge safety issue and would like a recall on this car and have nissan reimburse me for the driver door lock that i already paid.

Door locks starting with drivers side passenger and now the driver door will not lock or unlock unless manually changed with lever or key. this is a huge safety issue and should be addressed passenger doors are random however are starting to show similar signs thanks in advance. *js

2005 nissan murano - drivers side sun visor is broken and will not stay in the up position. falls suddenly and completely blocks vision of the road. i have almost been in several accidents due to this issue. nissan says it is not a warranty issue. *tr

I own a 2005 nissan murano and have had numerous "incidents" regarding a continuling problem with the driver's side sun visor. the mechanism that holds the visor upright and in an angle position to block the sun is not working and repeatedly drops and droops rather unexpectedly to the point of hindering my ability of driving safely. numerous times while driving on the highway the visor drops and blocks my view several times this has nearly caused an accident. i have talked to the nissan dealer and they say it is not a safety issue, there is no recall infomation and i must replace on my own expense regardless if i have a warranty. i have contacted the dealer i purchased the vehicle from and have not had any solutions other than to pay over $500 to fix the problem. i find this outrageous and danderous. an online search yeilds a large number of other murano owners with the same problem.

2005 nissan murano driver sun visor willl not stay up, especially in cold or wet weather posing a driver view obstruction safety issue.

I have avoided one accident and had a few close calls when my drivers side visor dropped in front of me while driving. this is a serious safety concern and needs to be addressed immediately.it occurred while driving on highway us19 in pinellas county florida.my attention was diverted by the visor falling that i almost rear ended the vehicle in front of me.

Driver's sun visor will not stay up. will drop down and obscure vision at any moment. passenger sun visor is now doing the same thing. will not stay up, drops down without notice.

Approx. 3 weeks ago. while traveling home my 2005 nissan murano would just come to a complete stop, without warning. i wait about 5 minutes and it would start up again. then last week 6/19 while traveling on a hwy 9a south it did it again while going a speed of 65, then on 6/20. it did the same exact thing 5 times. i took it into the coggin nissan the same exact day. they have put on it on there diagnostic machine, was unable to determined the cause, so, they said that they would have to keep it until they determined the cause of the stalling. *tr

My driver's side sun visor would not remain in the up position. when vehicle went in @ 30 days or so, i reported this with some other minor needed repairs. it was the dealership on pearl rd., route 42 in brunswick that also handled subaru's. it was originally a leased vehicle under allied leasing. i reported problem again at approximately 24 months. then - i reported it again when car went in for service in january of 2011. visor no longer adjustable - won't remain in up position - flops down in front of your eye blocking vision constantly. replacement estimate from dealer $300-$400 for part even if we install ourselves! important - repeating problem back to 1996 sentras. many complaints found on the internet! nissan refused to repair under warranty as well as post warranty! you are either trying to see underneath it...swing it to the side out of the way - but then your eyes have no protection against blinding sunlight! not only dangerous - but uncomfortable and inconvenient. i would have no problem paying if visor was reasonably priced - but nissan prices it obscenely!
