Recently reported SUSPENSION problems on 2004 Nissan Murano

The rear cradle is rusting that will likely result in a significant expense to replace. this nissan murano has less than 140,000 miles and the rest of it is in good condition. this is unsatisfactory!

I contacted nissan on 12/20/17 after i drove my 2004 nissan murano (purchased 8/18) and i heard a loud clunk as my son and i were on a college tour. i drove the car to my mechanic and when i showed him the problem, he wondered how i was able to drive the car when the back wheels were "toed" inward. he put it on the lift and told me that the sub frame was disintegrated. the car only has 124,000 miles on it. i contacted nissan and they had me take the car to a nissan dealership to have them diagnose it. it was as my mechanic had said, the rear sub frame was completely disintegrated by rust, un-drivable. the front sub frame is totally fine, no rust. i have done some research on my own and from one website i have found approximately 10 others that have had the same thing happen to their cars; some the same year and same mileage. i do not think this is a strange coincidence. i feel that there is something wrong beyond "normal wear and tear". nissan refuses to admit that there is a bigger problem and the extremely hazardous situation that is happening. if the sub frame would have collapsed while i was driving on the interstate my son, myself and god only knows who else on the road that would have been injured by car parts flying all over the road. i do not have pictures of the car but the mechanic knows and it has taken him a month to fix my car (still don't have it back) and a 3500.00 price tag on the repairs.

Tl* the contact owns a 2004 nissan murano. while driving 25-30 mph in inclement weather, the vehicle became uncontrollable without warning. upon inspecting the vehicle, the contact noticed that the rear subframe was extremely corroded. the contact stated that the upper control arm subframe was detached due to corrosion. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 83,292.

Coil spring on right front strut split and dug into tire causing the tire to blow-out while driving. *tr

The rear sub frame broke in two pieces, while making a right-hand turn, causing loss of control of the vehicle. *tr

The date on this form could have been the first date not really sure, the most recent was one of the frightening times the vehicle stopped right in the middle of the street about (4) four times. this was traumatizing we could have been hit by several vehicles. the vehicle started jerking then all of a sudden stopped right in the middle of the street. one time reported to nhtsa, we were in the vehicle driving along and all of a sudden without a warning the vehicle stopped. no jerking , no warning light, nothing. the vehicle shut off we were in danger and my grand daughter was in the vehicle with us she was very scared this was traumatizing for us all. if this is not all already this should be on the recall list. if this is not something that can be repaired, or replaced. at the cost and expense of the maker or nhtsa i feel my vehicle should be replaced. *tr

I bought the 2004 murano in december of 2013. from day one problems with shaking while driving. it has been in the shop 12 times since then. it had transmission failure twice now. first time they found metal debris in there. the second time was just over the warranty from first time by a few hundred miles! right after that the right back brake caliper was binding so that was replaced. so far they have put on new tires, a few weeks after that they balanced them thinking that was the problem. had to replace axle shaft carrier bearing, i should have gotten rid of it after the first transmission failure!!! *tr

At 90,000mi needed motor mounts, control arms, and front end is still nothing to write home about. it won't take gas and it bucks. *tr
