Tl* the contact owns a 2011 nissan maxima. the contact noticed hot air blowing through the vents when the air conditioner was activated. the contact attempted to restart the vehicle more than twice, but the failure still occurred. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was taken to sheridan nissan (114 s dupont hwy, new castle, de 19720, (302) 326-6100) where it was diagnosed that the compressor was faulty. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not informed of the failure. the failure mileage was 86,000. *tt *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2002 nissan maxima. while driving approximately 45 mph, the vehicle started to make hissing noises and completely shut down. the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired and the contact was informed that the vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number: 15v287000 (air bags). the technician made the manufacturer aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 68,000. the consumer stated the air bag was replaced. also, the check engine light illuminated. however, the dealer stated there would be a charge to diagnose it. updated 03/17/16.*jb
Timing chain needed to be replaced. understand from internet search that there have been many complaints about the nissan timing chains and their defective design and nature. according to dealer, no recall or service bulletins issued about this defect. *tr
Rattling sound on front ride side of vehicle. took to nissan dealership on 12/11/14 to have assessed. was confirmed that it is the timing chain tensioning system. it will cost $2000 in labor alone to remove engine and components to access, parts will be anywhere for $200-$2000. the timing chain tension system is defective and prone to premature failure. dealership does not know why this happens but recommended i do not drive until can be repaired due to the fact that if the timing loses time it will blow my motor. i feel as this should have been a recall issued to consumers. the vehicle is not yet paid off and will require $2000-4000 in repairs to be safe to drive. *tr

the sub frame is rusting out. the front motor mount is only partially attached as the main beam is severely rusted. i can't believe there isn't a recall on something so dangerous, as a failure of this component can result in the hood latch giving way or the motor dropping from the car. *tr
