On the listed date above our family was on en route to our vacation destination, traveling in our armada with camper in tow. while going thru the mountains in virginia we had lost all power to our transmission causing us to pull over onto the shoulder of the expressway. after some time we where finally able to get towed to a dealership in covington. as soon as the service manager looked at the vehicle he new exactly what had happened. he explained that the tail pipe had disconnected from the muffler and that the hot exhaust burned up the wire harness that controlled all the power to the transmission. this they had seen and fixed 4 to 5 times at this dealership. my complaint is that the piping from the muffler some how eroded away and disconnected allowing the exhaust to burn up the wire harness, as well as the hose that supplies the compressed air to the air shocks. this to me is a very serious safety issue. fortunately we were in the right hand lane and no other vehicles were near to cause a potential accident. we were able to get over safely although we had lost all transmission power going up this mountain. not sure if anybody else has reported this safety issue. but nissan must know about it based on the service manager seeing this that many times. why would one have your electric wiring running so close to a potential hot source that could disable your vehicle while driving? i recently was talking to a coworker who has a 2004 armada and told him about what happened to us. he had said that he just had his tail pipe welded back on but had it done at a muffler shop so this was not documented at a dealership. he had said that he could smell something burning but he had no other issues. he was lucky and he may want to check it out because of the experience that i had. please look into this because i feel it is a serious safety issue.

When cruising at low speed when i release the gas pedal to let the truck coast, it feels like the brakes get applied slightly and the truck starts to loose speed. in my experience with all my automatic transmission cars is that when you release the gas pedal the car would coast and loose speed gradually. but in my armada it almost feels like the brakes are being applied very slightly. *tr

Driving fine then after stopping at a stop sign, car would not accelerate, like it is in a higher gear. after reaching 10mph it drives perfectly fine. if after stopping you cut the engine and restart, it is fine. reverse works fine. code p1757 comes up on test. a bad valve body. i've seen this all over the internet mostly on nissan '05 models, maybe some '06. very frustrating, nissan says i need a whole new transmission. i'm thinking a recall should be looked into. it doesn't seem to happen on other year models as much. *tt

Front differential failure in a 2005 nissan armada with 71,000 miles. needs to have the diff replaced and not covered under warranty. many other cases of the exact same problem just by viewing a simple online search. seems to be a very dangerous design flaw. *tr

4x4 front differential pinion seal blew out while driving through a deadly snow blizzard to get home. this is the 2nd pinion seal on the front differential that's been replaced. the first was at about 40k miles and the second at around 68k miles. front differential failures are becoming common in nissan titans and armadas, especially when used to drive home through snow storms when they're needed the most. here's more details: http://www.clubarmada.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16220 http://www.titantalk.com/forums/titan-problems-dealer-service/102631-need-new-front-differential.html. *tr

On march 7, 2008, i drove from cleveland, oh to columbus, oh. the roads were slightly snow covered but slippery and i had either the automatic or full-time 4wd engaged during the 120 mile trip. upon arriving at my destination, i parked the vehicle on a slight uphill grade. as i exited the vehicle and began to unload it, the vehicle began to roll backwards. i was able to get back in and stop it, and double checked to make sure the shift lever was fully in the parked position. it was. i restarted the vehicle and drove it back up the grade, placed the shift lever firmly in park, turned off the engine and waited. sure enough, the vehicle began rolling backwards. i made a special attempt to verify that the vehicle wheels were indeed turning rather than the vehicle slipping with the wheels locked (in park). i repeated this 3 more times and experienced the same occurrence; the vehicle was indeed rolling and not slipping. *tr

4wd light would engage intermittently. stayed on for the duration that the vehicle was on. this has happened 3 times at approx mileage: 1530 miles, 3650 miles & yesterday 10/31/06 at 9:15 p.m. pst 6880 miles. brakes & rotors failed at 2200 miles. replaced by local dealership. brakes severely screeched at 5500 miles. local dealership service said "we forgot to tightened up a few bolts on your brakes". at 6750 miles, severe brakes problems. brakes lights came on, brakes locked up w/ car severely lurching forward when applying pressure light pressure. drove to the dealership as is without turning off the car. noticed that problem was serious & gave us a loaner vehicle for 9 days. local dealership said they have never seen this failure code before on any nissan vehicle for a brake issue. "delta strokeforce" local dealership was unable to repair the problem; drove it to a neighboring dealership 180 miles r/t. the neighboring dealership re-programmed the internal computer & assured me the problem was fixed. tonight 11/01/2006, brake light came on & brakes failed again with my wife & kids in the vehicle. could not make a stop off a freeway exit & just about put her foot through the floorboard trying to do so. brakes engaged suddenly skidding the tires through the intersection. mileage at time of incident 6927. it is now at 6930; my wife & i will be driving it to the local dealership in the morning. *nm

October 28, 2005 national highway traffic safety administration dear sir / madam, i currently own a 2005 nissan armada. we are having a continuing problem with the vehicle rolling back when the brake pedal is released while on an incline with the transmission in drive. about 25% of the time when you take your foot off the brake pedal to accelerate the vehicle immediately begins rolling back as if it were in neutral. there is no indication the vehicle would stop rolling without immediately braking or accelerating quickly. when the accelerator is depressed to counteract the roll it seems to takes a second or two before the vehicle starts moving forward. because this rollback happens unexpectedly i feel it is only a matter of time before we accidentally hit the vehicle behind us, or worse a person walking behind the vehicle. i have had it to the dealer twice to have the problem addressed. both times it was in for service they said this was considered normal operation. on the second visit they said the nissan representative was in and he confirmed this was normal operation. eric, the service rep at the dealership would not give me the representative's name. the dealer is: wilde nissan 1451 e moreland blvd waukesha, wi 53186 262-542-5500 888-660-7066 i have never had an automatic transmission display this type of behavior previously and feel this is a serious safety hazard, especially for inexperienced drivers such as my 17 year old son. i don''t feel the dealership or nissan is taking us or this problem seriously. *nm

I bought this car in 2005. the 4wd has never performed correctly. i have taken it back to the dealership numerous times and it still doesn't work. of course, now the vehicle is way out of warranty, and nissan will not pay for any repairs despite the fact that it hasn't worked right from the moment i bought it. i've never been able to use the 4wd system for any length of time. i've seen other posts on several other forums about this same problem. for now, i've taken the front differential out of my vehicle, and a friend of mine is going to see if there's a fix for it. i think it's obvious that the armada and titan have design flaws concerning the front differential. i keep hearing about leaking and blown seals. i like the car, but i paid for a 4wd vehicle and i think i should have one. is there any action i can take? against nissan maybe? maybe they could pay me to be ok with their faulty vehicle? i've owned several nissans before and had no problems, but i'm thinking that i'll never buy another one because of this. if there's a class-action lawsuit against nissan for this, sign me up. or maybe we could file one. *tr
