We have classified the 88 complaints from 2016 Nissan Altima about POWER TRAIN into the following categories.
2016 altima, barely 3 years old, 71,000 miles. about a week ago, the car began to jerk and shudder and rpm's jump up and down when i accelerate from a stop. before the day was over, it was happening while i was driving (any where from 0-60+mph). then check engine light came on. when i hit the gas, it may jerk/lurch forward or may not go anywhere. i would have to let off the gas and try again. some times it would correct itself, other times not and rpm's would stay high-- 3-5. felt like it didn't want to "change gears" (its a cvt so only one "gear") while jerking and accelerating/decelerating. very distracting and concerning to say the least. took it to the dealership today to have the diagnostics ran. was contacted and told it was throwing 2 codes - sub assembly failure and pressure fluid sensor failure. these are transmission codes. was told i needed a new transmission, $4200 out the door..... in what world is it "normal" for a fairly new car with no prior issues to have a complete transmission failure?? the dealer agreed there is nothing we could've done to prevent this. i have contacted nissan consumer affairs and filed a complaint, requesting goodwill assistance with the repair costs. i was told someone would get back to me by close of business tomorrow. this is obviously a defective transmission. reading these comments, it appears that the replacement transmissions do not perform much better. i will be getting out of this car asap.
Tl* the contact owns a 2016 nissan altima. while operating the vehicle, it failed to accelerate when depressing the accelerator pedal. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the transmission was faulty and the valve body needed to be replaced. the local dealer (nalley nissan of atlanta, 2551 the nalley way, atlanta, ga) and the manufacturer were notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. the failure mileage was 61,000. the vin was invalid.
We just purchased the car from robert's toyota columbia tn, on 11/16/2018. the car just coasted into the driveway and just stopped died, dropped my brother off and the started the car and went arround the corner and it did the same thing only took us a few min.
On saturday, my check engine light went on. i went to a car shop late afternoon at and they read codes for 2 issue w/transmission and 1 code for abs. the car is stalls at stoplights, reverse does not work at all times excessive exhaust was coming out of tailpipes. on highway, the tachometer moves fast when adding acceleration and power delays. when i go to the wyler dealerships in cincinnati, ohio, they have 2-3 month delay on transmission work and others in the area (wyler eastgate) are having the same issue with a backlog of transmission work - this seems to be a brand issue with the cvt transmission and when all these people are getting work done on their nissan transmissions at the dealerships this is definitely a quality issue. i hope you request a recall on these transmissions or provide a rebate to get this work done at the dealerships for the nissan customers. i have called nissan customer service and spoke w/ adam he provides me with a case #33804054 (very pleasant fellow) once i can get into a dealership for service this week (wyler of cincinnati) in colerain. thank you
While driving, the car would decrease in speed and acted if it wanted to stall.i took the car in for an appointment at the dealership and was told it was reading a code with the transmission and as scheduled to come in 3 days l as later when the part was in. after being at the dealership almost half a day, they tell me the transmission needed to be rebuilt. the dealership attempted to get me to drive it home (over an hour away( and bring it back another day. i was not going to accept this and requested a car to drive, which they did do so. however, when enterprise rental picked me up, they immediately knew it was transmission issues and proceeded to tell me that they are only good for 2 years.
The car stalls and hesitates when trying to accelerate from full stop. when you push the pedal it does nothing, for the first few moments, then it pushes hard. i have almost been in an accident.
I got my car february of 2018. in november 2018 i am being told i need a whole new transmission. i have a 2016 nissan altima. i contacted nissan about this issue and they didn't help as far as trying to provide services, i was just told to pay out of pocket. i tried to reach out to get help and didn't receive any. my car stopped on the highway during traffic and couldn't get any power to the car to get off for safety.
Tl* the contact owns a 2016 nissan altima. while driving 25 mph, the check engine warning indicator illuminated and the vehicle failed to shift normally between gears. the vehicle was taken to kelly nissan, inc (4300 95th st, oak lawn, il 60453, (708) 499-1000) where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 34,000.
On a main road, my car jump/ jerks going a lil past 40mph however my rpm goes up to 3/4..while in idle at stop light, to go after green, pressing gas, car does not move..then once it moves( 3-5 secs later after pressing gas) rpm jumps to 3/4, but only going 20mph..then once in gear, it's like i'm going fast but really i'm not
Tl* the contact owns a 2016 nissan altima. while driving 65 mph, the check engine indicator illuminated and the vehicle jerked and decelerated. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who discovered cvt judder code: p17f0. the dealer (nissan of mobile, 1015 east interstate 65 service rd s, mobile, al 36606) was contacted and stated that the code meant that the continuously variable transmission valve body needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was also contacted and did not assist. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 64,700.
The check engine light came on. the car begin to hesitate
I have a 2016 nissan altima with about 68,000 miles and my transmission has trouble changing gears after driving it for a few minutes. as i change gears from 0 to 40 mph, the car starts jerking or takes a while to reach 40 mph. it also happens when i'm driving around the city and i make a full stop at a stop light. after the light turns green, when i start accelerating the car won't speed up no matter how far i push the accelerator, after 6-10 seconds have passed it'll start moving but in a very jerking manner. to fix the issue at the moment, i have to turn off the car and let it rest for a few minutes. but, it still does this every time i drive. in the highway, i can not go faster than 70 mph because once i get out of the high way and slow down the car will have the same gear changing issue and it feels like the car will give up any second. this wasn't an issue when i got this car with about 48,000 miles about a year and a half ago. it started about 8 months after getting it and it has only gotten worse. i took my car to my mechanic to let me know what the issue was and he told me that it was the cvt transmission. since my car is out of warranty and it doesn't fall under the recall made for the cvt transmission, my only solution would be to pay out of pocket.
I purchased this car in december 2017; however, in september of 2018 the malfunction light came on. i had the car diagnosed by autozone first which advised it was a transmission pressure fluid sensor. i then followed up with the nissan dealer, bommarito on 661 dunn rd in hazelwood, mo. 63042 to find out part of the transmission needs to be built, code p17f0. the car will not accelerate over 35-40 mph, and the rpms are jumping all over. the estimate of repair is 4600.00 this car has approximately 66,500 miles on it and i bought it with approximately 49,000. this appears to be a faulty transmission, as i have had cars well over 120, 000 miles and no transmission issues. there is one more person i am aware of who had the same issue on a 2016 nissan altima.
Tl* the contact owns a 2016 nissan altima. while driving, the vehicle did not accelerate over 40 mph. in addition, the check engine indicator illuminated and flashed on and off. the contact called regal nissan at 770-998-8686 (located at 1090 holcomb bridge rd, roswell, ga 30076) and a diagnostic test was recommended. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 35,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2016 nissan altima. while driving 35 mph, the vehicle jerked without warning. the vehicle was taken to kraft nissan (3277 mahan dr, tallahassee, fl), but was not diagnosed due to the diagnostic fee. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the transmission failed. the vehicle was returned to the dealer where they recommended that the continuously variable transmission sub assembly and valve be replaced. the manufacturer was notified. the failure mileage was approximately 60,000. the vin was not provided. *tt consumer stated had the transmission repaired, two days later power stering pump failed. updated 11/20/18*jb
Rpms were jumping up during normal driving and even when the car was coasting. eventually (about 30 minutes later while trying to make it to a safe stopping point) the car would not move forward or in reverse. this occurred while driving on hiwhay and on smaller roads (35 mph) also. when stopped at traffics light is when it wouldn't move. we were able to move it from the middle of the highway after about an hour of it sitting idol. had it towed.
My 2016 transmission has an internal error. the car is 2 years old the transmission is defective. i have 90000 highway miles and it's out of warranty
I was driving the car pulled up at stop light when light turned green i press the gas call would not get power until a few second the car would jerk an shift while driving was almost hit from the rear by another car due to this issue took it to autozone code read p0841 something with transmission i just got the car rarely drive it it has 53,909 miles an now it's in the shop hoping i don't have to pay for this
I was driving on the freeway, as i approached the ramp, my car started moving slow. i press the accelerator to pick up speed, my car jerked a bit. as i proceed to exit the freeway it picked up speed. i arrive at the traffic signal, stopped, when the light changed, i had trouble with my car picking up speed. previously experiencing this situation from an old chevrolet vehicle i knew it was the transmission. i called my personal mechanic and explained what was going on with my car, and i think the transmission is going out. my mechanic explained my car is too new to have transmission issues, he asked i bring it to the shop. my mechanic is an honest mechanic if he is unable to repair your vehicle, he will not touch your vehicle. i brought my vehicle to my mechanic he drove my vehicle himself, return to the shop in 5 minutes, express to me, "take your car to nissan right now! there must be a recall on the transmission your vehicle is too new for transmission issues." my 2016 nissan altima, i purchased ocober 15, 2016 started out with 22 miles, i put those 22 miles after test driving. now at 66,048 miles, i am faced with transmission issues. i found no factory recall for the transmission. nissan found two recalls, the transmission was not on the list. i am devastated i read nissan's are the 3rd best vehicles. my altima is a year and eight months old. currently my altima's transmission is getting repaired at a nissan dealership.
My car only has 40,000 miles i bought it brand new at least they sold it new in july 2016 at serra nissan in bormingham al. and now 2 years as of 2 mths ago 40,000 miles later . the repair shop here in chattanooga, tn informwd me that they had to take the whole transmission out and rebuild it, what? rebuild ut at 40000 miles, this is unreal. please help. i nolonger have confidence in driving this vehicle. this car is covered still thank god under the powertrain warranty but having confidence in a rebuilt transmission at 40k mileage is unheard of.. basically i drove from tn to al came back car didnt hardly move after getting off freeway and stopping at a red light, it was disgusting and very frustrating. so i took it to the dealer nissan east and. mechanic guy by the name of mike called me and told me that they had to take the whole tranamission out and rebuild it. i have never heard of a car's transmission having to be rebuilt at 40000. i have owned plenty of new vehicles never ever experience this before. look like nissan is on my black list and confident in knowing that they produce vehicles with terrible transmissions and seemingly lemons. contwmplating seeking legal representation regarding this matter.
After the car idles for a period of time, car hesitates to go. after pressing on the gas pedal for a few seconds car takes off very fast. some times the car will rev high before it shifts. if i turn the car off and turn it back on the problem goes away for awhile. this happens in town stopping and going.
While driving i felt a slight stutter or jerking of the vehicle. i noticed that as i depressed the accelerator, speed did not increase. the car would slowly move forward then all of a sudden the car stalled. no lights illuminated on the dash to indicate a problem and i had the oil changed at a nissan dealership two days prior. i called the dealership to find out if there were any similar issues reported and i was told i would have to bring the car in. i called the services of my extended warranty and reported the issue.
I was driving on the highway at about 80 mph when my rpm started to go up and down in a way that i'd never seen. immediately following that, my check engine light came on. i took my car to advance auto parts to see what was wrong and it read, 'p0841 transmission fluid pressure sensor/switch a circuit range/performance'. i took my car to my local nissan dealer and told them what was wrong with my car, and right away without looking under the hood of my car they said that i needed a new transmission which would cost me $4,000. i thought maybe i needed to replace the transmission fluid pressure sensor, so i called around looking for the part and every shop told me to call nissan.
While driving on highway the car slowed to approx. 40 mph, while rpm's remained high. this is the third time it happened. seems like transmission is slipping. pull over shut vehicle off and problem goes away. no check engine light or anything. had it to shop each time and dealer unable to duplicate. this will be third time in shop for same issue
Tl* the contact owns a 2016 nissan altima. while driving 70 mph, the vehicle stalled and the check engine indicator illuminated. the contact was able to drive the vehicle home. the vehicle was taken to bill seidle's nissan (10500 nw 12th st, miami, fl 33172) where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified and informed the contact that nothing could be done to assist. the vin was not provided. the failure mileage was 60,750.
Having issues with transmission. car check engine goes on and off and vehicle 8s hesitant to change to next gear. i have has the car almost 2 years. 5his is my second aaltima and it was a 2006 which also hae transmission issues.
While already in motion the vehicle accelerated extremely slowly once again as i have reported on this website before, but this time it was more dangerous because as i was merging onto the freeway, i was pressing on the accelerator and when the rpm got to 2000, it stopped and the vehicle was accelerating extremely slow. there was a 18 wheel truck approaching me fast from behind, but i could not get any speed. luckily he swerved on to the next lane and passed me. the rpm meter stopped at 2000 and it took 22 seconds to get from 60 mph to 75mph as the video shows. it happened several more times during this drive and i was able to record each instance panning from the gauge display to the accelerator showing i am pressing it all the way down and the vehicle doesn't respond. i took the vehicle to nissan and when i showed the video to the service representative, he immediately tried to blame the issue on my floor mats. he said that it appears the floor mats were preventing the accelerator from going down thus causing the vehicle to not gain speed. however i explained to him that that is not the case as the floor mat was not touching the accelerator at all. you can clearly see my foot pressing it down all the way without any interference from the mat. in addition, if the floor mat was preventing the accelerator from being pushed all the way down as he claims, how is it possible for the vehicle to continue to gain speed, all be it extremely slow? that right there proves his theory wrong because if the accelerator was indeed stopped by the mat, then the mph as well as the rpm would maintain at the same rate. i also reminded him that this happened on a local street when i was only going 35 mph and the accelerator would have been no where near the floor board. nissan advised me they were able to duplicate the issue and are contacting nissan tech support for direction
For the second time while in the middle of driving, this time on the freeway, the car would not accelerate when the gas pedal was pressed. i pressed it all the way down and the rpm would not go up and the car was slowing down. it happened before on a local street with the same scenario. on the freeway i was at 70 mph when it happened and on the local street i was at 35 mph. it started accelerating after i had to let the car cruise for about ten seconds as it was losing speed. also i am now having to take the car in to service for the 5th time because the reverse back up camera will not work. the camera goes black and nothing is visible. nissan tried to say it was because of my phone connected to bluetooth in the car and to try it without a phone connected. i did and it still happened. i recorded a video of the incident again but if i can't have a phone connected to blue tooth to be hands free, then i am violating the law. i can't see behind me which is very troublesome when it is foggy outside and can't see very well out the windows. i have provided to images. one showing no bluetooth device connected and the other with the black reverse camera. *bf *tr
First time, car started at 50,000 miles. drove the car for 4200 miles, regular maintenance, had occasional drag in acceleration and rpm needle fluctuation, called in and said it was pretty normal due to the heat. randomly car jutters and loses acceleration, check engine light comes on at 54,000 miles on in town highway road. car will no longer will accelerate before 5-6 rpms consistently for about 5 seconds then will kick and accelerate. code pulled read trnsmission fluid system eas the problem. took car in next day after fighting with pocatello nissan kia because they refused to look at it for a week. had to have entire transmission replaced. drove the car for another 1500 miles and same thing but i caught the drag and needle fluctuation soon enough that the car didn't get nearly as bad on the regular in town roads. took it in a second time and transmission was replaced again. going on 56600 miles and noticing a drag and fluctuation again on in town roads but nissan wont look at it til the issue can be replicated again.
Tl* the contact owns a 2016 nissan altima. while depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle hesitated to accelerate and failed to drive smoothly on occasion. the vehicle was taken to olympia nissan (2220 carriage st sw, olympia, wa 98502), but was not diagnosed. while driving at an unknown speed, the engine stalled without warning. the vehicle restarted and accelerated independently. the dealer was not contacted. the vehicle was not repaired. also, while the vehicle was being driven, the rpms accelerated and the vehicle failed to operate. the contact mentioned that the speed increased to 40 mph. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 13,000.
2016 nissan altima. consumer writes in regards to defective passenger side airbag and defective keyless push button. *ld the consumer stated other failures included rear doors opening independently, engine was loud, tire pressure sensors were inoperable, and the emergency communication lights were constantly lit. the consumer stated all the repairs were to be repaired under recall. the consumer was unsure that the dealer actually completed the recalls as it only took an hour to be completed. *js
My transmission is constantly kicking back at me, this morning 2017-09-27 my transmission completely gave out. reving is to 5-6 rpm not being able to exceed 10 mph. the drivers side curtain airbag keeps tripping my airbags to deactivate. have to had the code reset several times. the back up camera looks like it is loosing signal even though it is hard wired, the lane sensor warnings fail, failing to inform of a vehicle in your blind spot. the key fob continuously says key invailed dashboard.
Tl* the contact owns a 2016 nissan altima. while driving 50 mph, the vehicle decelerated and accelerated on its own and then decelerated again. the contact pulled the vehicle over to the shoulder and then drove to an independent mechanic. the check engine warning indicator was illuminated. the vehicle was driven to ken melton nissan (1000 n. galena avenue, dixon, il 61021, 815-288-4455) where it was diagnosed that the continuously variable transmission needed to be replaced. the vehicle was scheduled to be repaired on july 9, 2019. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and was advised to call nhtsa. the failure mileage was 44,000.
Purchased 4/2017 brand new. july 1st, notice the airbag sensor light is on on the instrument panel, take it in; they replace a sensor, didn't fix, replace another sensor, light goes off. in august, the vehicle again has the light on, take it back to dealer; they replace the first sensor (the one that wan't bad) and the light goes off. however i am told that the tech thought it may be a wiring harness issue; "lets see if this corrects it"; since the airbag won't deploy if the sensor is bad!! december 19th; driving in a snowstorm, the light comes on again. since it's a safety issue to drive it as without the sensor; the airbag will not deploy. so here we are third time to go out; and it seems like wiring shoudl have been looked at first.
My transmission stopped working while i was driving first in the city and it continued to when i went on the highway to the point i had no power and the when i pressed the gas nothing would happen. i had to have the computer in the transmission replaced and the car still idles as if it will cut off at any moment. that was at 40k and i just had to replace the o2 sensor at 60k
Car was unable to switch gears when in stop and go traffice conditions.jerky acceleration during this situation.engine reeves up when giving gas.i had to turn the car off in order to get out of this mode.took it to the dealer and the dealer got code p0776. they told me it has transmission problem and they are going to put rebuilt transmission.this happened frequently after buying the car.this problem never triggered check engine light until recently.took to the dealer on 05-28-2018.
I was driving on florida turnpike south and out of no where i hear a big boom noise. my car started over heating and i noticed my engine light has come onto the dashboard. once i pulled over on side of turnpike, i notice sticking out of my front bumper a big piece of metal.
The front passenger air bag off light continues to come on with passengers in the seat at various speeds. nissan has attempted to correct this issue at least four times without success. there is also an noticeable vibration in or near the drive train when ever engine is operating at or near 1750 rpm that also has not been eliminated.
Tl* the contact owns a 2016 nissan altima. while driving 40 mph, the speed decreased to less than 20 mph and the transmission hesitated. in addition, the rpm gauge raced each time the failure occurred. the dealer (leckner nissan of springfield, 6570 amherst ave, springfield, va 22150, (703) 451-1970) indicated that the transmission needed to be replaced. the manufacturer advised that the dealer diagnose and replace the transmission. the vin was not available. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 64,000.
