I purchased a used 2014 nissan altima with 58,000 miles. it drove great during test driving and on my way home which is 1 hour away from where i live. by day 2 the car began jerking around 60 mi per hr. and under. i made an appointment to have it looked at my local nissan dealership. by day 4 on the way to the dealership the rpm would jump up to 4 and the car made a winding noise. it would advance forward quickly and then stall. all of this while driving on a major highway. i came to a place where i could pull over waited a few minutes and then tried to pull off the car would not go anywhere. i finally had to have it towed to the dealership. nissan has yet to know what the problem is, saying it has an "unspecified code". it's been 3 days. i know there had been a recall on the cvt transmission however i don't see my vehicle vin on the list.

The vehicle stalls when pulling from a stop sign or stoplight. the vehicle restarts without issue then will stall again when engaging into gear. this happened at highway speed also with the car turning completely off. after exiting the highway, the car restarted without issue and was able to continue off the road. at a stoplight, it stalled again in the intersection. research online shows multiple complaints on this vehicle similar to my complaint. this vehicle is unsafe to drive and i don't think i will drive it again.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 nissan altima. while driving at low speeds, the accelerator pedal was applied, but the vehicle slowed down and stopped. in addition, the check engine warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was taken to san leandro nissan (1152 marina blvd, san leandro, ca 94577, (510) 826-1462) where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. the manufacturer was contacted and provided case number: 37771869. the failure mileage was 97,000. the vin was invalid.

The car stalled and shut itself down when stopped at red signal light. car was able to start but kept stalling and shutting itself down as soon as the car was put in drive or reverse or drive sport.

Lach in hood doesn't work and i'm scared it will open while i'm driving and my catalytic converter manifold is not working properly (engine light on)

Car stalls out while driving engine completely shuts off or sputters like it is going to die in the middle of traffic while driving it does not matter of it is hot or cold it does ot when ever it wants too nothing triggers the random sputtering or engine dying as well car has a grinding metal noise coming from the brakes replaced the brakes and rotors but still making the noise as if brakes are very bad.

I purchsed this car feb 2nd 2019 couple days later engine light comes on so car has 30day warranty so i call and they had me go there mechanic put in the shop. a code for 02 sensors came up but he say he just need replace cadillac converter he didnt need replace sensors so 5 days later i pick up car and 3 days after light comes back on i call complain on way coming from another city hour away and noticing car jerking and loosing power on hwy on way mechanic car breaks down im stranded with baby for hour they tow they shop say it was fuel.pumps i get car thinking things good i make a 300 paymemt since i still owed 1500 on down payment days later light comeson again smoke comes out back car when i start. it. in morning car jerks back real hard when i get on hwy or hesitate pick up speed engine making rattling noise and oil pressure sensor on i take it for 2nd opnion before taking back there mechanic and the thing they suppose fix still shows need be fix mass air flow sensor and then oil pressure sensor and spark plus so i tell mechanic did yall even fix mass flpw sensor cause same code pop up he says some times new parts can act faulty but dont worry we fix it. got warranty but he gotta ask permission about spark plugs and oil pressure sensor so he ask me when i can come in i say friday the night before my appt car breaks down 40 min. on hwy car looses power lights dont work head lighs dont work car key wont open doors or trunk and im getting i key system error i go replace battery that didnt help so saturday they tow car and send me a repo letter since im behind payment cause im not gonna keep paying on car thats breaking down leaving me stranded at this point i gave them 3 tries so i just want my 1500 plus 300 back even tho warranty expired i did adress this 3 times before it expired

I have a 2014 nissan altima that revs up while i;m driving and then stops. i turn it off and start it again. it does this constantly. it's very dangerous because i'm driving and all of a sudden, i hear a revving up sound, the car starts to hesitate,, it slows down and then comes to a complete stop. it doesn;t give me a chance to pull off the road. i have to immediately put on my hazard lights. it stops without warning. once i hear the revving up sound, within a few seconds she hesitates, slows down and come to a complete stop. very, very dangerous. the car hesitates when making turns also. car does not accelerate if you stop at a light like she suppose to. let me explain. when i'm at a red light and the light turns green, i put my foot on the gas and the car does not accelerate, she hesitates, go slowly, then kicks in and allows you to proceed. i'm very afraid to drive it. i have heard others and on the news say peoples experience with their nissan altima shutting down just like mine. for me its shutting down everywhere. it's happened on the highway, street, always when in motion, during turns, after stopping at a red light and its time to proceed. i've almost gotten hit by other cars many times when she suddenly stalls. something is wrong with this vehicle. i don't have video of incident because it hasn't had an accident yet, but i'm sure an accident can happen at any day. i'm nervous every time i drive it. it's the mercies of god that i haven't had an accident. please note i was almost in an accident that would have badly injured or killed me when i was making a left turn on hwy 78. the car stalled while making a left turn. the suv almost hit me as i was making my left turn and the car stalled and the suv stopped just as it was about to hit me. i was shaken up so badly, i had to park my car and calm my nerves. this shouldn't be happening. it's a dangerous car.

My car has had many problems with the check engine light. my smog mechanic has checked it, he stated it needed a mass airflow senser. he installed it. $$$$$$ light went out, came back on in a day or to. he ordered another one, same thing happened. i am really tired of this. i bought the car new, only has 68000 miles on it. help me out, whats the problem. i noticed that alot of people have the same problem. the dealer has no clue!!!!!! help me please

I have had continous transmission since i have had my vehicle. i purchased a brand new 2014 nissan altima 2.5sl. it was replaced in 2015 new transmission by the dealership. however, as recent as may i had transmission issues that resulted in cvt getting fixed. then in july similiar issue which dealership reported there was an update needed on my car, a selonid needed to be replaced. after spending over 2,000 on my car it is still not fixed. the check engine light is back on and not able to accelarate on the highway. this has caused a definite safety issue and is an ongoing issue that nissan and the dealership need to address. i am requesting reimubursement, extension of warranty, and for my transmission cvt to be fixed and if further issues occur nissan needs to comply with fixing it.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 nissan altima. while driving approximately 40 mph, the vehicle failed to accelerate as the accelerator pedal was depressed. in addition, the check engine and abs warning indicators illuminated. the engine was turned off and the vehicle was restarted, but the vehicle failed to accelerate at a high rate of speed. the vehicle was driven slowly to the contact's residence. the dealer (universal nissan, 12785 s orange blossom trail, orlando, florida 32837) was called and made aware of the failure, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and opened case number: 31323934. the approximate failure mileage was 93,000.

Shortly after the first year the car began hesitating and eventually went on to completely cut off while my family and i were traveling. the transmission was replaced under warranty. i didn't have that particular problem for another year after the new transmission. the dealerships would always say they could not supplicate my concern. the problem persisting. i'm afraid to pull out in traffic because it stalls, jerks or hesitates. i won't allow my children to drive it because it is just too dangerous. both my husband and i have paid taken it for diagnosis the past 6 months. i'm taking it yet again tomorrow. i cannot figure out the pattern. it seems to be worse once pausing after a long drive > 50 miles. while traveling this weekend, i paused at the highway off-ramp and it wouldn't accelerate beyond 15 mph. the check engine light came on this time. i pulled over and cut the car off. it did finally go but the rmps still idled highly. there are some days the problem isn't prevalent and the drive seems smooth. that's what makes it so dangerous. i have to wait until there's no traffic before attempting to turn or pull into traffic.

I was driving on a road going appx 35 mph. stopped at a traffic light, and my engine shut off and my car drifted. the brakes wouldnt even work. my radio and lights remained functional. i turned the car off and restarted it and when i put it in drive or reverse, it shut down again. the engine only stayed on in neutral or park.

I started experiencing problems with my vehicle about a year ago. while driving the car seem to not change gears. i had to coast to the side of the street, turn the vehicle off and restart it which made the vehicle to what i call "reset". this did not happen again until months later. now my vehicle from time to time, while driving the vehicle seem as if it will not go when i accelerate from a stop in traffic. i thought it need transmission fluid. i discovered that it requies ctv transmission fluid and can only be done at a dealership which was not true. my local certified transmission repair center said they could perform a diagnostic for $99, which we did. we are now being told that the transmission need to be replaced and that this was a problem on most of the nissan altima's. replacement would cost about $4,800. why hasn't nissan recalled these vehicles after so many complaints?

My vehicle stopped on the highway in a busy evening traffic. for 10 minutes i was not able to do, but sit idle. after that car started but it was juddering and shaking every time i used to stop at red light or stop sign. the vibrations were very violent and scary. even, in neutral, car engine revs up to 2k-3k rpm without accelerating. nissan company and dealer are not helping and putting my life in danger as i could have got hit by another car/ trailer.

My check engine light came on today. took my car to baker nissan dealership for them to put it on diagnostic machine. i was charged $135. no work was done since i am out of warranty and extended warranty. they told me the engine was misfiring. two codes appeared p0304 and p0300. in order to replace 1 ignition coil it was $357 for parts and labor. to replace all 4 ignition coils and spark plugs it is $1023.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 nissan altima. while attempting to stop the vehicle, it surged forward and the engine stalled without warning. the vehicle was able to restart after several attempts. the vehicle was towed to a local dealer (superior nissan of conway, 1090 collier drive, conway, ar 72032), but the failure could not be duplicated. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified and stated that the failure was being investigated. the failure mileage was approximately 41,000. *tt consumer stated superior nissan dealership in conway, arkansas inspected the vehicle and could not get it ti turn off. they said it was safe, we traded in. updated 8/28/18*jb

My nissan altima 2014 engine caught on fire while driving on va 286 interstate 66 w exit toward front royal for merging onto i-66 w virginia. luckily i got out safely. i saw smoke come up from under the hood so shut the engine off, so i pulled over to the side. then a flame came up and i ran out of the car. within a matter of seconds the whole car was engulfed in flames and is destroyed 75% and i hardly saved my life but lost laptop, mobiles, baby car seat, stroller and other personal stuff. we lost our car which costed us $22,000.00 even engine was under 5 year warranty which caused a reason of fire but nissan is not ready to take responsibility of its product even their product will take your life. we still owe to bank for nissan altima 2014. help us to cover a total loss from nissan. this stuff should not be happening!! i do not have gap insurance either. nissan should give us new car as a replacement!!!!

My engine is making a raddling noise every time i accelerate then goes into an even worse noise like there's some sort of crack in the casing or a loose bolt inside the engine compartment. the breaks squeak every time i go into a stop motion. i've made a appointment before with carmax before and they've spent 5 hours in which none of the initial issues that i drove to austin for. and since that appointment no one has answered my calls to set up another and the two major issues are just getting worse.

My car shut down multiple times while driving it to work. i had to get it towed to nissan and find a way to work. nissan said they reprogrammed the cvt transmission and didnt bother to tell me there was a recall. when i got it back it was worse than when i took it in the first time. it is unprofessional and dangerous for them not to tell me about the recall.

Vehicle is a 2014 nissan altima 4 cylinder motor. it recently had the transmission recall, disguised as a "campaign" performed. it was a software update. since then, the car upshifts while decelerating, causing the engine to stumble & almost stall. it is similar to the torque converter locking up & affecting the drivetrain. if the engine stalled, driver would lose control of the vehicle & might crash the car. the car is in motion when it happens on a road where speeds are about 50 mph, which is about the speed we were driving when it happened. it has happened while driving straight or in mild turns.

I purchased vehicle in 2014 and i have had all required maintenance performed. i'm not at 71k miles and have been experiencing abrupt jerking while driving. nissan has a recall to reprogram the cvt. however, they offered extended warranties to few customers and not all of us. this is an ongoing complaint regarding the cvt and the enormous amount of money consumers have paid...not to mention the inevitable safety risk. something has to be done and nissan should be held responsible. i have an appointment on monday regarding the recall...which they did not inform me about until i called about my car 2 days ago. not to mention another recall for the airbag, that i found out about online. they are not communicating with their customers at all.

Engine should've shut off or give warning sign that oil from the oil filler came out andsplattered all over engine causing a engine fire which could've injured or killed someone this happened because someone must've left the oil filler cap off or didn't tighten cap,all mechanics told me the car should've shut off or warning light should've came on. also the location of oil filler is in a bad spot it's on the middle of the engine with lots of plastic covers over engine, most engines the oil filler is on side of engine so oil doesn't spill on top of engine .the engine is a 2.5 liter engine .the engine runs very hot and with all the plastic parts and any oil spilling it can easily catch fire .i think nissan should install a oil filler cap sensor to avoid potential engine fires.car is being repaired now from insurance claim but nissan refused to reimburse any fincancial offer or a replacement car, since i brought the car brand new 6 months ago .i think someone should investigate this,a simple fix like a oil cap sensor could prevent fires and save lives

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 nissan altima. while driving approximately 30 mph, the vehicle suddenly stalled without warning. the vehicle was able to be restarted. the dealer diagnosed that the sensor for the camshaft failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 70,000.

Since i have had my 2014 nissan altima it has faced several major issues such has two transmissions replacements, now the ac compressor, then the car display screen turned completely pink, and other numerous issues that have already been documented in your system. please refer back to my previous complaints that i have submitted, my service records for the dealership, and so forth for documentation purposes. i truly believe that a car with only 7 miles on it when purchased should not have any of theses issues unless it was manufactured poorly. i am so fed up with dealing with the dealership and run arounds from the corporation that i may have to take legal action if this issue is not resolved in a timely manner.

My car as at a stop sign off a highway. as i tried to excelerate, the car died. i put the car in park. i let it sit for a second, put it in drive, it moved less that a foot and died. i was able to make it to a service station where they told me i needed a new battery. one week later i was on the highway trying to excelerate and the car died, mid highway, i pulled over. got it started and after not having any results at my nissan dealer, made it to my home where it was diagnosed with a faulty transmission. the car is a 2014 with 65 thousand miles and nissan will not help

Since the first week we owned the car, occasionally the screen(back up cam, radio...) doesn't start, or fails within first mile of driving- maybe 10 times since purchase date. on july 29, 2015- morning- car upon start, no screen and no dashboard. restarted twice and then fine. at 9:30 p.m. same day-- close to home, side mirror failure warning showed on dash- and a subsequent failure of systems- including but not limited to- gps, screen, turn signals, headlights, hazard lights, all dash information. i pulled into parking garage and attempted to open window to use key fob for gate and had no operating windows, including sunroof or locks. put car in park and could not get it into another gear.trapped in car for 15 min. with car running- passenger door then unlocked. aaa called. car ran for 3 hrs. aaa disabled the electrical operating the fuel pump. car towed to cochran in pittsburgh. since a restart resets the computer, no code on diagnostic would be found. cochran considers the situation resolved. nissan has a case # and several recorded (by nissan) conversations have occurred with regional rep. and that rep. will not send written findings of investigation (check the i key)as it is internal information and i will pay all diagnostic fees associated. rep has no technical knowledge and has no explanation of what an i key is or how or for what it should be checked. there is a directive from nissan regarding this problem as told to me by wright nissan, but again nothing will be done without the code from diagnostic computer. this can't happen again- but it will and it could be catastrophic-the intermittent, random, systematic failure will happen- the extent and order of events unknown - leaving us an uncertain outcome and no plan for response in the given situation. we suspect the problem is the bcm as alerted by the internet research, the aaa driver and the cochran tech.

2014 nissan altima. consumer writes in regards to vehicle oil leaks issue. *smd consumer sent additional correspondence. *smd the consumer stated there was a smell of hydro-carbons when he started the engine. the dip stick showed a drop of at least 3/8 of oil on the dip stick. also, the air bag issue was not address and the plastic protecting the bottom of the engine fell down. *jb

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 nissan altima. the contact stated that while driving and attempting to accelerate, the accelerator pedal was depressed and the vehicle failed to accelerate. the contact mentioned that the vehicle failed to accelerate over 25 mph, there was an loud abnormal noise and the vehicle vibrated uncontrollably. the failure recurred numerous times. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission failed. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 34,000.

Pulling into a parking lot with brake on the car accelerated by itself and jumped the curb. when the back tires bounced over the curb the car stopped accelerating.

I have to much throbble whit my carr hard to start i have more one monthy the not rrunig

I have number of problems with my vehicle - 2014 altima sl. several times after stop and go traffic the transmission stops switching gears (speeds). it gets stuck on a first gear equivalent in cvt transmission. the fix is to restart the vehicle, obviously this could be dangerous on the road where there are no places to stop. another major problem is a head unit (navigation, radio, etc). it restarts by itself now and than, sometimes right in a middle of the highway when i'm trying to figure out what exit to take and i need the gps guidance. its absolutely unreliable. i'm not complaining about the quality of the software here that is terrible, by the way, but in any situation it should not restart by itself! another problem, as mentioned by others, is mileage. i get much less miles as advertised! this is my first and last nissan! *tr

Vehicle is driven several miles so the engine is warm. three times the car has stalled when stopping at a light or slowing at an intersection to make a left turn. when moving from the waiting position the car will stall and as an oncoming car is coming poses a left threatening situation as it will not move forward immediately. car has been taken to nissan dealership 2 times and both times nothing shows on the computer. also, the car was driven the last time and the stall is not replicated. because the problem is not replicated nisaan refuses to admit there is a problem with the car although a life is in jeopardy due to the danger of making a left had turn in front of traffic when there is ample time to make the turn. i have spoken to the national office and they refuse to do anything since the computer says the car is not broken. *tr

I purchased a brand new 2014 nissan altima s on 7/20/14. on 9/17/14 my cel began flashing, car shaking & losing power as i was driving on the freeway (which is under construction with no shoulders to pull over on). brought car to service department and they tried to first tell me they couldn't find any issue. i forced them to continue testing & it happened again & they were able to pull 2 error codes (misfire & multiple misfire). after a week of driving my car and testing, they could not figure out how to fix it. i opened a case at that time to request a buy back or replacement of this vehicle as it is clear that something was done wrong on the assembly line & safety of vehicle has been compromised. on 9/26/14, the dealership called and told me to pick up my car as they "think they fixed the problem." i picked up the car, drove 5 miles & issues happened again & i noticed it was consuming large amounts of gasoline. brought it back to dealership & told them that it was not fixed & it is not safe to drive this vehicle. on 9/29/14, nissan corporate sent an engineer to pick up my car to test the issues & after driving it, the engineer said that all 4 coils needed to be changed. coils were swapped out & i picked up the car 10/2/14 against my will. full tank when i picked up the car stating i'd receive 540 miles (normal for an altima) & 2 days later, it dropped all of a sudden by 100 miles for no reason. i only received 400 miles to full tank & the majority of my driving is highway miles. it is still consuming gasoline & is idling rougher. i am now 3 weeks in, 2 separate issues & my car still is not working. if my car has issues 52 days in and only 3k miles, i can only imagine what else is going to happen. i commute and drive with small children & it is not safe. it is clear that there is something wrong with my car. *tr

Since i leased my car in may2014 i forgot to turn the engine off 4 times . twice it ran all night in my garage but fortunately the gas fumes did not enter my house while i was sleeping. i believe its because i'm not use to the keyless ignition system. at first i thought i mistakenly started the engine with the remote start capability while the key was in my pocket. i reported the problem to the car dealer and at my request they disengaged the remote start feature on the vehicle, recently the car was left running all night for the second time so i apparently forgot to turn it off, i am elderly and hard of hearing and can hardly hear the engine running, i wear a hearing aid. it runs very quietly. once i loaned my daughter the car and she encountered the same problem of not turning off the engine, i learn from internet post that countless reports have been made and several deaths by carbon monoxide entering homes have occurred due to this problem, i understand the keyless ignition system has been around for many years and is installed in many different vehicles, i was not aware of it until i got my car. i feel a safety recall should be issued to correct the problem before more people get killed, the public should be made aware of it without further delay since countless reports have already been made. please acknowledge receipt of my report. thank you. *tr

When i turn the ignition nothing happens. all i hear is a click where the car is trying to ignite. after trying several times it finally cranks up and start. i've had the battery checked and have taken it to nissan for a diagnostic test and both came back negative. not sure what the problem but it is happening more frequent now since the first time it happened in november 2013 and again in april 2014. if the issue isn't showing up after paying $85 for a diagnostic test at nissan, i wonder if others are experiencing this issue. *tr

On the way to get a cup of coffee (less than one mile from my home) a car started coming into my lane. i swerved slightly to avoid a collision and my car went into the ditch and hit a telephone pole. over $22,000 in damage. radiator bent into an "l" shape. side frames and engine went into the firewall, which totaled the car completely. i have spoken with nissan corp. air bag safety engineer, dealership owner, general manager, sales manager and they will not do anything about this $22,000 damage to the front end and none of the airbags deployed. officer said driver airbag and side curtain and in seat airbags should have also deployed. they didn't and i was almost killed. the car was only 2 months old, no modifications, and very low miles. kiro7 tv in seattle even did two stories on the crash and airbags not working and that nissan had only recalled passenger airbags, not driver side airbags. ..updated 07/16/14 *bf

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 nissan altima. the contact stated that there was an leak coming from under the hood. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer. the technician replaced the oil pressure switch but the failure persisted. the authorized dealer was notified of the failure and provided no remedy. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the vin was not available. the approximate failure mileage was unavailable.

Purchased new 2014 nissan altima sl 3.5l at approximately 2200 miles when accelrating at a stop light the vehicle jerked (as if it could not change gears), happened intermittently at first. took vehicle to repair shop at 2 dealers in 2 states who could not capture information at that time. by 12000 miles while returning from vacation (1/4/2015) the vehicle was undriveable. took to local dealer and needed a completee transmission replacement. at this time, vehicle was jerking, missing gears, changing gears independently, trying to go in to a lower gear while breaked at a stop light and engine would rev to accelrate, vehicle shook, and was literally deteriorating each mile. transmission was replaced, at approximately 14500 miles, the same vehicle symptoms have begun. took to dealer while traveling, they were able to capture minimal data because as the vehicle began to jerk and shake, their battery died in the lap top. however, some data was recorded. advised to drive home and file complaint with nissan motors north america (which i have done,) vehicle will be taken to local dealer for continual study and new transmission replacement. was advised by repair manager, that transmissions are now being known to seize while being drove. i have requested nissan purchase my vehicle back, pay off my loan and refund any trade in values and payments made on nmac loan because i refuse to replace a transmission every 2000 miles. at this time vehicle is shifting spuratically at any mileage. more at lower speeds but also at 70mph on highways.

The whole exhaust system from the engine along to the rear of this cars exhaust tips is rusting away already! several dealerships say its normal! *tr

When im in traffic and try to speed up the car doesn't change gears. ive taken it to the dealer four times and they do nothing about it. it has happened two times within the last three days, which is more frequently than before. i have had this problem since i bought the car. when i stop the car completely, lets say at a red light, then press the gas it takes a few seconds for the car to even start moving.
