Purchased used 2013 nissan altima 2.5 sl with approximately 65,606 miles. june 2016, at 65,606 miles, auto dealer mechanic resurfaced front rotors and replaced front and rear brakes. at approximately 65, 650 miles brakes/rotors began to thump. dealer mechanic resurfaced front left rotor. at approximately 92,799 miles, brakes began to squeal. second mechanic was unable to find problem. at 96,052 miles third mechanic experienced brakes squealing and resurfaced all four rotors. however, brakes began to squeal after resurfacing. at approximately 97,192 miles, a fourth mechanic replaced front rotors and front and back brakes. at approximately 105,139 miles brakes began to squeal. 5th mechanic replaced the front brakes.
Three major issues has been occuring with my 2013 nissan altima 2.5 sl 1. brake light comes up randomly while driving at local or highway speed. 2. hood pop up while driving - issue with latch 3. transmission is making grinding noise.
Takata recall my gear shifter remains in a stuck position. the car was stationary on a city street. i was unable to shift from park to another gear. this is a major safety issue as i have gotten stuck with my toddler in the car and was unable to move to a safer location. it took me at least 15 minutes to get the car to shift from park into gear. i was terrified! i had to leave the car in its location and take a lyft home with my daughter. the next day my local mechanic came to check the car. he said that this is a common issue for 2013 nissan altimas. he said he would have to take the car to his shop to investigate what might be causing this failure or i should call up nissan because they should be aware of this safety issue.
1. break switch needed replacing and now the issue is happening again as far occasionally loses power causing some potential safety issues in pulling out into traffic. 2. both passenger and driver interior door handles do not open door which is a major issue as the only way to open doors is to roll window down. in an emergency this could cause serious threat to safety if windows can not be rolled down.
I own a nissan altima 2013, and sadly i've more problems with this vehicle than any other i ever owned. the engine stalls when in notion and stationery. sometimes it takes multiple tries to even get it started. the interior door handles on the both the driver and passenger side broke and had to be replaced. the air bag sensors had to be replaced. the hood latch had to be replaced. and the back brakes have been changed three times and it s still has a awful lengthy squeak which is very embarrassing. so say the least this is very disappointing considering i'm still paying over three hundred dollars a month for a car not and still have to come out of pocket for repairs that the extended warranty supposedly does not cover. very disappointed with this purchase. all of these issues have happened over time and i'm still having issues to this day.
Takata recall vehicle has a airbag and latch problem
The dashboard brake warning light keeps coming on when driving & remains on until car is turned off and then restarted. it has occurred multiple times whether slowing (foot on brake), going up or downhill, driving on freeway, or after stopping for a light. has happened multiple times starting when car was 3 months old. nissan dealer says computer analysis shows incident occurs but computer doesn't show why.
My brakes and rotors have been replaced three times within a six-week period. after each replacement, squealing and grinding sounds continued. each replacement resulted in a upgrade of brake pads to take care of the loudness of the squeals. replacement was done by the same shop. the squeals and grinding noises occur whenever i push the brakes to stop or put the car in reverse to backup. for the last replacement of brake pads, i was told to drive the car for at least 100 miles and the squeals and grinds would stop. this however never happened. the third time i took my car back to the service shop they replaced the brakes with pro stop. i was told this is the top of the line in brake pads. to this day, i still experience very loud squeals and grinding as if my brakes need to be replaced.
Brakes squeal when applying brakes in drive and reverse. mechanic cannot find cause.
I took my car for servicing at nissan service center and they told me that car brakes needs to be changed. my car's mileage is only 34 k.
The brakes on the 2013 nissan altima squeak, when backing up. i had this looked at three times and the brakes are fine so there must be a manufacturing defect.
I was in an accident and the air bags did not deploy. my children and i were injured. i serviced my car at nissan for the airbag recall twice. i received a recall from nhtsa and nissan wouldn't comply. every time i've taken my car for the brake pads to be serviced i only need rotors never brake pads! the driver side door handle broke for no reason what so ever this car is a clunker!
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 nissan altima. while driving 5 mph, the brakes squeaked intermittently. the dealer diagnosed that the brakes needed to be replaced. the brake failure occurred without warning. the brakes were repaired. the manufacturer was notified. the approximate failure mileage was 27,000.
Driving in rush hour traffic on the interstate, i heard a noise but could not distinguish what it was or were it came from. the noise eventually got louder and after applying brakes in traffic the car struggled to engage into drive. i made it off the expressway to a dealership. upon inspection, the brake caliper came off and was grinding into the wheel.
Driving at the rate of 45 miles per hour. my 2013 nissan altima 3.5 sl start surging going faster than the speed limit. i applied on brakes pushing them down to the floor my car hit a 2013 durango suv on the driver side knocking the rear wheel completely off. my car still surging faster on a congested high-way to avoid causing any fatalities my car spend around three times. before coming to a stop. no air bag deployed on my driver's side occupant seat was unoccupied. my nissan altima 3.5 sl was a total loss, a-frame severely damage beyond repair. the seat beast on the driver side turn my large intestine, several feature bilateral pelvic bone, whip lash, neurological disturbance, (l) torn rotator cuff, spinal cord injury where partial paralysis have start to set in my legs. irreversible nerve damage, poor sight, broken teeth whereas; i have to get them all pulled out & go into the hospital to have a complete mouth of implants. the seat belt was so tight that it torn a muscle in my chest cavity (l) side causing my heart not to fill up completely. seeing a psychiatrist after the aftermath of the incident, gastrointestinal doctor, pain specialist,
A/c has not worked properly till it just stoped. the ac blows air intermittent cold and hot. compressor not working properly. filled with freon but will not consistently blow cold. headlights very dim. the lenses are clear
In less than three years and just over 36,000 miles we have serviced the transmission 3-4 times (i've lost count), had it brought in for brake noise (screeching) at least 4 times, and just this week the bearings in both rear wheels had to be replaced. the brakes screech is ear splitting. they reconditioned the surface of the rotors, re-shimmed the pads and replaced the pads 9 months ago. i warned them then that i knew this was only a temporary fix and that i was concerned that they would get noisy again once the warranty expires and that is exactly what has happened. a few months before that they shimmed the pads which made it better temporarily. i told them shims were a band aid for a design flaw and that it wouldn't last. several weeks later it was back in the shop. the tranny has the shakes. it has been reprogrammed, the alternator was replaced because supposedly the voltage variation was affecting the timing of the tranny, and most recently a vale body was replaced. the oscillation problem is better for now but my wife had it buck again last week just not as bad. it's just a matter of time on this too. their competitors do not have this problem. i am highly concerned that i have more bearing issues in the future. two out of two bearing sets failing (the fronts bearings are different) is a 100% failure rate in less than 36k. all three problems (brakes, transmission and bearings) are known issues in this year, google it.
Shift lock is not working.
Purchased car may of 2013, pre-owned certified and only 21000miles. from onset of ownership, brakes made noises, "cyclop brake light in rear window would blink constantly, dash lights would go from dim to bright all the time. the car would hesitate when leaving stop position, pushing electronic start button would not work often. dealership always said that the situation could not be duplicated. on dec. 2nd, 2015 while driving home i was approaching a stopped car in the middle of the road and tried to slow below the 20mph i was driving and the brake pedal went all the way to the floor and all dash lights went blank and the car stalled resulting in a collision. the car would not start for over 2 hours. the dealership asked about the key fob location and battery condition and the batteries were good and key fob was on front seat where it always was. i filed a customer complaint with nissan consumer affairs on dec, 4th 2015 and constantly got run-arounds with no call backs several time. i was left without a vehicle and no help from dealership or nissan consumer affairs. while reading the many complaints of other altima's i was so concerned with my safety and health i purchased another car. i believe i had an electrical issue from the beginning and it could not be diagnosed and it ended up with a collision involving another car.
If i'm driving, when i try to stop the car, i press the brakes the brakes do not activate. the car does not stop it keep rolling on. i have to pat the brakes to stop the car or press the brake a second time for the brakes to catch. it feels as though it slips pass the brakes! i also took my car to nissan for the latch recall every since i got the recall "fixed" the pass air bag light pops on when no is in the passenger seat and my car will state that i have 100 miles (more or less) of fuel but my fuel gage will read empty and i will need gas as the gauge states!
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 nissan altima. while driving approximately 30 mph, the transmission shifted from drive into the neutral position independently and an abnormal noise emitted. the vehicle was towed to the dealer, but the mechanic was unable to duplicate or locate the failure. the contact experienced multiple unrelated failures with the vehicle that included the exterior door failing to unlock or lock with the key fob until after several attempts. a burning odor emitted from the air vents when the air conditioner or heater was activated. there were no flames present. also, the brakes squeaked intermittently when depressed. the contact stated there was concern regarding a potential health hazard with the push button starter causing cancer. the manufacturer was notified. the approximate failure mileage was 10,600.
I was driving northbound on maxwell road north of hyne road in brighton, mi. in preparation to make a 90 right hand turn to stay on maxfield, i applied the brakes well in advance of the turn. after doing so, the abs brakes pulsed the brake pressure repeatedly rendering the brakes useless. i tried to complete the turn and halfway through the turn, i realized i was heading at ~45 right into a tree. i took my foot off of the brake and cut the wheel as hard as i could to the left. the front right bumper and fender hit the tree. i had considered writing a complaint regarding the abs and traction control on this vehicle previously as there have been several instances where i have feared for my safety as the vehicle does not stop in a reasonable distance and i have almost slid into a busy intersection several times. also, power to the wheels is cut much more than what is reasonable when starting on damp or snowy roads to the point that i fear pulling out onto a road and have to wait until there is no traffic for over a mile. i believe that the tuning of the abs system and traction control should be investigated to determine if there is an issue. it seems as though they are turned this way to protect the cvt from any sort of impulse due to the wheels slipping and then grabbing pavement. *tr
Brakes faulty and malfunctioning. issue for many owners of 2013 nissan altima. this mechanism should be recalled before someone is injured or killed.
The brakes started squealing after a couple a days after i purchased the car, and continue to squeal after replacement. ti have contacted the dealer and they told me that it is common, and there is nothing they can do. this car squeals really loud when it is in motion, and when the brakes get hot.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 nissan altima. while driving at any speed and depressing the brake pedal, the contact heard an abnormal noise. the vehicle was taken to a dealer who stated that the vehicle was functioning as designed. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 47,000.
January the 8th i was driving from work to home my job is about 30 miles from my home. i was driving no faster than 50-45 miles an hour due to construction in the areas on my way home. there are cameras at the lights in a city 7 miles before my city. if you go over the line a bit they take pictures of your license plate and send you a picture and ticket in the mail with an image of you going over the line indicating you've run a red light. so i pressed on the breaks to slow down as the light turned yellow to assure i did not go over the line. as i slowed down my car jerked i had a 2011 altima that did the same thing so i was thinking its nothing its how the transmission runs. but within a 12-15 feet distance i stopped as i completely came to a stop my car jerked forward, the brakes locked up, hazard lights on the dash showed up, and the engine shut off. i could not get my car to drive forward it was embarrassing as cars honked for me to drive. i returned my car to nissan and they updated some recalls. then stated their system is not showing in issues. this has occurred multiple times and once i was on a hill the car was in drive and it started rolling backwards. i hope the recalls they have fixed resolves the issue i am scared that the car will die and cut off while i am on a busy highway. i hope and pray my issues are resolved and, i do not get crushed in a collision. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2013 nissan altima. the contact stated that approximately 30 minutes after starting the engine, the brake sensor light illuminated and indicated that the brake system was faulty. the failure was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified. the vin was not available. the failure mileage was 37,000.
This is a first time incident pertaining to my 2013 nissan altima sedan. my brake warning lamp (red) illuminated while i was driving at a steady speed of 45 mph. note...earlier in the morning i did not experience this issue while driving. i pulled over to the side of the road and confirmed that my parking brake pedal was fully released. i turned the engine off and moments later i restarted it. the brake warning lamp stayed illuminated. knowing that my brakes were performing normally, i continued on my journey and drove home. at that time i checked the vehicles brake master cylinder fluid level. it was slightly below the reservoir's maximum indicator. in addition i checked and confirmed that my rear brake lamps were operating properly. the vehicle was parked for approx. 4 hours and the engine was restarted. the brake warning lamp was no longer illuminated. i then drove the vehicle at night for approximately 5 miles without the problem recurring. it is important to note that the daytime temperature was rather high at 94 degrees. *tr
The brakes make noise all the time even with new brake pads and rotors, the emergency brake like turn on while i was driving on the freeway so decided to park the car to check the emegency brake was not on, it turned off after the car rested for 2hrs. also when i reverse the car then put it in drive there is a slight delay to accelerate
While parking in a parking lot, brake pedal went to the floor and the car did not stop. in the first incident 5/20/14 there was no accident of damage. the car continued to travel through the intended parking space and drifted to a stop. the second incident 8/25/14 resulted in an accident where the driver's front impacted the driver's front of a car that was parked. *tr
Ever since i bought the vehicle my brakes, which also starts my car will occasionally feel like they get stuck sounds as if they might be rusty and when i apply pressure they catch. i will apply and then all of a sudden they click down. i'm afraid the longer it goes on sooner or later they will no longer work. happens motion and stationary . suspension' every bump i go over i feel like my car is hitting rock bottom. slow or normal speed. all these problems i have told since i first bought my vehicle. i was fluffed off telling me it was this or that and it was normal. i drove the same car 'a rental'never never felt any of these problems. that is why i decided to buy a nissan. big mistake.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 nissan altima. the contact stated that while driving 70 mph, the traction control warning light illuminated. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection where they stated that the brake lights needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 6,000.
First and foremost, this vehicle is not safe since the air bag light for the passenger has never worked. more than 6 times the dealer has tried to fix to no avail. i wont let passengers sit in the front for their safety. i always have them sit in the back. it looks like i am their employee/driver. also a huge problem is the cvt transmission. it shudders, grumbles and the whole car vibrates intermittently. first the dealer said it was the alternator and replaced it, that didnt fix it so they said it was a bolt, that wasnt it, finally they just gave up and said they dont know and "they cant reproduce the problem" its all a scam. this car is defective.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 nissan altima. the contact stated that he started the vehicle and the passenger side air bag illuminated. the contact also stated that the headlights were very low, he was unable to see the road at night and had to activate the high beam headlights. the brake warning light illuminated on the instrument panel while driving 30 mph. the vehicle was taken to the dealer. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failures. the failure mileage was 5,000.updated 05/28/14 ma the consumer stated the brake warning light illuminated at 45mph and then again at 30mph. the passenger air bag light illuminated on two separate occasions prior to a passenger sitting in the seat. the headlights improved since replacing the bulbs with 110 w, aftermarket bulbs. the seat belt light illuminated on 3 separate occasions. the vehicle had to be restarted. updated 05/30/2014 *js
The brake light comes on randomly and stays on until the vehicle is turned off; the brake pedal has a "hitch" in it when letting up on it (as does the gas pedal); you can hear gas sloshing around in the gas tank. piece of crap car. *tr
After a few weeks of owning this new car, the brake light came on and stayed onwhile i was driving. i started hearing squealing and thunking coming from my brakes. these are new and on a new car, the car just now has 6000 miles on it and it still should not makes these sounds. i took it in they did something to clear the brake light and said the noises are normal. this should not be making all of these different noises. nissan needs to find the problems of their cars and fix them! i feel like there is something still wrong but the dealership does not want to look any further. *tr
I spoke to 5 town nissan who did a so called thorough check on my car stated that everything was perfect but the brake light went on. how can everything be perfect with the brake light going on. all i see is that these dealers say its good and cars are in perfect working condition when they are not. *tr
Brake light went on right after taking it out of the service center of nissan dealer brake pedal dropped to floor. *tr
Was driving 45 mph to take child to school. while at light made sure no parking brake on. then put car in park turned vehicle off and on twice as braking light still on. kept vehicle off for approximally 1 minute and turned back on. the following day took vehicle in for service which they stated break fluid not topped off. so on 2/8/2013 driving with 8 yr.old daughter sitting in front set. airbag light was on the showing airbag off but then the light went off. pulled over had my daughter stand up, remove booster seat and then put back down. airbag light still remained off. turned vehicle off 3 times before turning back on. my husband called dealership to discuss and advise taking in for service and problems after just purchasing vehicle on 2/4/2013. on the way home brake light came on and wouldn't go off. *tr
Well i been driving this car for about three months now and the brake light keeps coming on about a week after i go the car the light came on, i took it to the dealership and they told me when its low on brake fluid the light will come on. well about three weeks later while driving the light came on again. i took it back to the dealer ship and they said nothing is wrong with the car. two weeks later the light came on again and i look the car to the dealership while the light was on and they keep telling me nothing is wrong with the car. so about a week ago the light was on again. i am starting to feel afraid to drive the car because i think it wont stop this is a new car i should not have brake issue this early. *tr
I purchased my nissan altima 2013 s car on 17 october 2012 with 12 miles. approximately two days later after buying this vehicle, i began hearing a constant whining noise coming from the engine compartment at a very low speed, a drumming slapping noise when i abruptly brake, a rather disturbing metal clunking sound that seems to generate from the fuel tank and finally intermittently clicking sound from the engine compartment at a high rate of speed. these sounds ar extremely nerve wrecking for a brand new car. i brought my car to three different nissan dealerships for inspection at least seven times only to be told that these concerning sounds are normal conditions for this model. the car has also hesitated multiple times on start up. filed a complaint that led to nowhere because nissan north america, inc insists that these are "normal" conditions for this vehicle . *tr
I have had major issues with this vehicle since the third day after purchase. the brakes have malfunctioned. the brake light would intermittently come on and i had it in several times, but the dealership could never "duplicate" anything. then the car started to misfire and emit a thick black smoke from exhaust. i contacted the dealership and at first they said it was normal because the car has a cvt transmission. then they said bring it in for assessment. a service technician test drove with me and experienced this first hand. i was told they could not service it that day, but to bring it back in. when i took it back a week later, they "could not duplicate" the problem. there has been much back and forth. i asked them to buy the car back because the problems were life threatening. the car actually shut off on me, twice, in traffic. when i last contacted the dealership, on july 24th, 2014, about the major issues i've been experiencing; the earliest they said they could see me would be on august 11th, 2014. on yesterday, it finally shut off for good, in the middle of the interstate. as i was on a trip, i had to have the vehicle towed 125 miles to my hometown dealership at the cost of $230.00, out of pocket. the only reason i got it home that cheaply was because i have four roadside assistance coverage packages and luckily one of them covered towing up to 100 miles. the car is now sitting on the dealership's parking lot. *js
The brakes on the nissan altima are constantly squealing. i brought a brand new altima nissan 2013. i have taken the car to the dealership several times and also contacted customer care for nissan. the squealing of my brakes issue has not been resolved. i was told at the dealership i would have to deal with the squealing for as long as i have the vehicle. i was also told there was an alert (by a floor manager). well, customer care said that was not true. i am trying to get rid of the car. there is no reason to have squealing brakes. this occurs every time i make a stop or reversing. i also have a problem with the push to start button. i have complained that it acts as if it does not want to "catch" i was told when i first complained that a new starter was order and i would be contacted when it arrives. that was in 2012. it is may 2013. still have not been called by the service department and my car has been service at least 3 times since it was reported. *tr
I purchased a 2013 nissan altima 2.5 s in july of 2012 with 349 miles on it. i have had numerous problems and have returned the vehicle on several occasions for repair and have yet to find a solution to the problem. in the mean time they are only getting worse. the first problem occurred 2 weeks after i purchased it. i got in my car and applied the brake and pushed the button to start the car and the car hesitated, it was almost like the starter had hung up. i wasn't too worried at first and figure it was just a one time fluke, but it wasn't. nearly five days later it occurred again and atleast one or twice a week there after. after 4 weeks and it having done it about 4 times by then i made and appointment to have it service and a few days later i noticed 2 new noise problems. i was driving with window down one day and heard a loud chiming or jingling noise coming from what sounded like the front driver tire.it pretty much sounded to be a loose nut or screw jingling around somewhere. then a few days after that's when the brakes started squealing. and it was terrible and very loud, like nails on chalkboard and very embarrassing. so when i bring it to be serviced they tell me that the issue i had when started could not be duplicated and that the brakes where cleaned and the rotors where shaved down and also that they put no squeal on. and for the issue with the jingling noise was that a screw was loose and rattling around on the engine cover. but when i drove the next day the brakes started squealing again so once more 2 weeks later i return it again.and they tell me they have to shave the rear rotors this time. when i leave this time the squealing does not return for 2 weeks. so once more i return it this time they tell me that dirt is caked under my brake pads and all i can do is pretty much pressure wash them every day. that's not quality! *tr
I have reported to nissan several times about my vehicle having squeaky brakes. they supposedly added a stint to quiet the brakes but that didn't work. also the airbag light is not functioning properly. *tr
Purchased a nissan 2013 in july of 2012 in 8/2012 the car had to have a total brake job on the front and rear brakes at 1300 miles. nissan has yet to tell me why the car was manufactured with bad brakes and rotors and if there is an underlying issue that created the issue at 1300miles. faulty powersteering pump causes the car to growl and make a winding noise. you can hear the fuel in the tank sloshing around in the tank of the car. this car is horrible. *tr
1. when you fill the gas tank up you can hear fuel sloshing around and knocking against the tank. 2. brakes squeal and grind 3. engine is noisy and growls car shakes 4. air bag recall 5. gas mileage is not as advertised 6. console has been repaired multiple times. *tr
