On occasions my car would not start. we would shake it, press the start button continuously, sit and wait up to 60 minutes before the card restarted. i did a lot of research online and assumed it was the brake switch. i had the battery, alternator, and starter checked. told their were no problems. so, after researching, i contacted the dealer. was informed it would cost about $400 to repair, as they had been experiencing other customers coming in with the same problem. i contacted my personal mechanic and informed him after extensive research, and speaking to the dealer, i believed it was the brake switch. the brake switch/brake light switch cost $45 from dealer, and he charged me $35 to put on. a big savings from what the dealer would have charged me..$400, plus a diagnostic cost of $125. i have not had any problems since having this little switch replaced.
My dashboard is sticky and shiny in certain parts and it makes it difficult to drive in the sun because of the glare from the stickiness. there's nothing to wipe. it's just sticky, anything i put on it, whether it's paper, cloth, etc will just stick and not make a difference
I have an issue with my dash being very sticky. i have never been able to clean my dash due to the stickiness. i believe that nissan should be forced to fix the issue since there is definitely reason for the dash to be fixed and i know i am not the only nissan owner with this problem.
As i stopped at tollbooth and stop sign.car cut off.it started right back up.as long as i was moving it would stay on.then service engine soon light illuminated.ive heard of other complaints about this.i just bought car last year.
Vehicle will not start minutes after a successful start. all other factors such as battery, electrical, and fob key issues eliminated as possible cause. similar problem has been widely reported, most likely a defective steering lock mechanism, or in some cases, a defective brake light switch wherein the brake pedal is depressed but the ignition system is registering an unpressed brake pedal. a safety issue as motorist could be stranded during inclement weather or other dangerous situation.
Dashboard is melting and cracking. this car has been garage kept since bought brand new in 08, it only has 6055 miles on it, & when ever it was out, it always had a sunshield. been reading thousands of complaints, & a lawsuit should be filed as was done for toyota. it does create a vision hazard and it cant be cleaned.
There are long lines of cracks all over my dashboard. it appears the material from which it is made, is extremely inferior. both the dealer from which is was bought (coral springs nissan) and the consumer affairs section of nissan na tell me there is nothing they can do as the warranty is up. what will happen to me if the dashboard falls apart while i am driving? i am also experiencing, to a lesser extent, the shiny spots which i have also read about from comments online, on the dashboard. i previously owned a 1999 nissan altima and never had this problem and fail to see how a car which i purchased december 2009 - note even 5 years old - should be having this problem. i'm extremely dissatisfied that the company is unwilling to assist in rectifying this defect. *tr
The dashboard of the car is melting. the areas on the dashboard that are affected are very sticky and can't be cleaned. with the dashboard melting, there is a glare that comes up from the dashboard onto the windshield which makes driving during the day both difficult and hazardous because of the limited visibility. i also don't know if this melting issue is causing any type of toxins or fumes to collect in the car interior.
The dashboard on this vehicle is melting due to warm climate. when driving towards the sun the gloss of the meting dashboard reflects the sun back up into the lower windshield. this is blinding to the driver and obscures visibility through the lower portion of the windshield when this condition exist. there should be a recall issued due to the unsafe condition. there have been many reports in the local media of this same condition yet nissan refuses to address the issue. hopefully there will not have to be a traffic fatality before this safety issue is addressed and a recall is issued.
My entire dashboard is melting and it's very sticky.. the glare is a major concern that could possibly cause an accident. it doesn't matter if it's day or night it's difficult to see out of the windshield.
My 2009 nissan altimas dashboard got a shiny sticky substance which i thought i may have used a bad dash cleaner, but it appears it is actually melting. it is sticky to touch, and the reflection from the sun makes it difficult to see while driving.
My car has had the abs and the tire light on constantly - does not go off and cost a fortune to have fixed - according the to manual after inflating the tires it states the light may not go off and you have to take it to the dealer to be repaired at your expense. the safety issue is since these lights are on constantly have to keep checking my tires to make sure they are properly inflated and with the abs light all the time you don't know when there is an actual problem with the brakes
I was driving on the freeway and my car shutdown. i pulled over and tried to restart my car but it would not turn on. *tr
The locks have stopped working when the key fob or door button are used. i have replaced 3 out of the four door locks multiple times with the problem recurring. this presents a safety issue for people needing to exit the car or enter the car quickly. furthermore, all of the locks have locked when the key fob was left in the car (locking me out). the car is not supposed to lock when the fob is in the car. in addition, pressing the lock and unlock button will only unlock 2 doors at this time. this appears to have happened to a number of people. i think a recall is in order so the locks work as designed to prevent safety issues.
I live in south florida and purchased a 2009 nissan altima in 2013. the dashboard has melted to the point where it is becoming a problem. it reflects off the windshield and causes a terrible glare on the windshield. it is a sticky mess. i took it in to the dealer within a year of purchase and they stated it was out of warranty so they couldn't do anything about it. it has gotten worse and i would like nissan to take some responsibility for this mess. i know i am not the only one with this issue and they really need to take notice. this is poor customer service and not good for their brand!
After shopping my car would not start. i had to flatbed it to the dealer. the dealer replaced the steering lock (part 48700-9n00a). the car's mileage and time was slightly out of warranty (41000 & 41 months vs 36000 & 36 months). the new redesigned steering lock (part 48700-9n00b) has a warranty for only 1 year. per nissan forums this is a known issue with nissan: gt-r, 370z & altima. my understanding is there has been a recall on the gt-r only. i would expect a recall or extension to the warranty on this part in the altima.
This is a known issue with this vehicle which the manufacturer will not remedy. toyota will replace on they're vehicles, but not nissan.the dash from the intense heat in south florida, has become sticky and is cracking. in some areas, it can become shiny causing a glare in the windshield. the windows were tinted and a heatshield is always in the inside windshield. armorall or similar products, were never used when maintained. only soap and water on a cloth. i have contacted nissan but they will not address as it is out of warranty. it is costly to replace with the same issue reocurring.
Upon attempting to start the car, ignition would not change from "lock" to "acc" or "on". intelligent key warning lamp was lit steady on dash. steering wheel column was not locked. all power and other functions worked (lights, door locks, etc). battery is fine. independent testing found steering lock control module part 48700-9n00b faulty. similar/same part on nissan gtrs was recalled, part number 48700-jf00a or 48700-jf00b, being replaced by 48700-jf00c same part number is failing for nissan 370zs as well, same years and same part number 48700-jf00a or 48700-jf00b, yet they are not being recalled. this problem is also occurring in nissan maximas and nissan muranos however i could not find the part number. in all models of nissan this part was removed in mid 2010 due to consistent failure. the part costs approximately $500 from nissan, is usually out of stock and back ordered, and also costs another $400-$500 to be installed at a dealer. there should be a make-wide recall for all models for this part, not just the gtr because it's the most expensive of them. *tr
2009 nissan altima coupe was in parking lot and would not start. the intelligent key warning light was on dash. had car towed to dealer. they advised steering lock control unit (part #48700-9n00b) was bad. this is a common problem on '09 altimas as well as 370z. dealer offered 10% discount and advised $600 total. i called nissan customer care and escalated to regional office. this is a real safety issue because who knows where and when you can be stranded. nissan has recalled this part on other models and discontinued this feature on subsequent models. this is a safety issue and something needs to be done! *tr
Dash board has melted and gotten sticky. because of the melting it has gotten very shiny and causes terrible glare on the windshield thus restricting view and making driving dangerous because of lack of vision on the road. it is also very messy if you touch or lay anything on the dash. i would suspect it to be unhealthy also since the chemistry in the material has changed. i live in houston, texas and my car is out in the sun and weather most of the time. we depend on this vehicle for most of our transportation. this problem is always there, but is significantly worse in hot/sunshiny weather. it looks like puddle on the dash and also looks like the dash is about to drip off. it is even sticky and shiny at night. this has been a gradual thin that started about 2012 and has gotten worse and worse.
Around 2012 the dashboard in this altima is melting. it's turning into a glossy goo that is causing a extreme glare into the drivers side of the windshield. nissan has not issued any recalls on this, so they wont fix it. i went to www.youtube.com and found that apparently this is a widespread problem with nissan, toyota, mazda & lexus. *js
Heat shield on exhaust center pipe overheated and broke. pipe and gaskets required replacement by dealer.
Dashboard board is melting and makes it almost impossible to see while driving
